Kim Kardashian Addresses Another Culture Vulture Charge
Article via USMagazine
The Kardashians are no strangers to cultural appropriation allegations. Kim has now decided to up the stakes by TRADEMARKING ‘Kimono’ – what should be a formal Japanese wear is now Kim’s shapewear line.
When Kim Kardashian Opens a New Window. announced her new shapewear line called Kimono (as a play on her first name) on June 25, some expressed concern over use of the term for the traditional Japanese garment, even spawning the hashtag Opens a New Window. #KimOhNo on Twitter. And now Kardashian has responded.
On June 27, the businesswoman addressed these critiques in a statement to the New York Times Opens a New Window. , which reads: “I understand and have deep respect for the significance of the kimono in Japanese culture and have no plans to design or release any garments that would in any way resemble or dishonor the traditional garment. I made the decision to name my company Kimono, not to disassociate the word from its Japanese roots but as a nod to the beauty and detail that goes into a garment. Filing a trademark is a source identifier that will allow me to use the word for my shapewear and intimates line but does not preclude or restrict anyone, in this instance, from making kimonos or using the word kimono in reference to the traditional garment. My solutionwear brand is built with inclusivity and diversity at its core and I’m incredibly proud of what’s to come.”
This comes in response to fan comments Opens a New Window. questioning the use of the word on her original social media announcement. For example, user @takano_meg commented on Twitter, “For Japanese, Kimono is really important culture and we are proud of having this culture. Even now, I often wear Kimono not only special events but also normal days. I hope everyone know Kimono as a Japanese traditional and beautiful clothes…”
Still others praised the mogul’s attention to inclusiveness Opens a New Window. (the line includes nine colors to match various skin tones and sizes ranging from XXS to 4XL).

Kim Kardashian’s Personal Trainer Responded To Criticism Of Her “Unrealistic” Body At The Met Gala
Article via BuzzFeed
Kim wore a dress designed by Thierry Mugler and inspired by Sophia Loren’s look in the 1957 film Boy on a Dolphin, complete with dripping crystals to emphasise the ~just got out of the ocean~ vibes.
Many were especially concerned about her itty bitty waist.
Eventually some mentioned their concerns for Kim’s health.
Some publications even claimed that Kim achieved this waist through a plant based diet. ?
But now Kim’s personal trainer, Melissa Alcantara, has weighed in on the situation and defended Kim against the criticism.
In a post on her Instagram story, Melissa said that while Kim was wearing a corset under her dress, she is also “dedicated” to working out six days a week.
“I see her train and I see her sweat and I see all the work she does outside of the gym,” she wrote. “And THAT is commendable!”
According to E News, Kim reposted the message on her own Instagram story, but it’s since been deleted. Hmm.

Blac Chyna Allowed to Depose Ryan Seacrest in Kardashian Legal Battle
Article via Popculture
Blac Chyna will be allowed to depose Ryan Seacrest in her legal battle with the Kardashians.
According to The Blast, Chyna’s legal team will be allowed to grill Seacrest on any information he may have pertinent to her case against the family, wherein she claims that the Kardashians and Jenners executed a plan to publicly defame her for the purpose of getting her reality series Rob & Chyna cancelled so that it could be replaced with Life of Kylie.
She also requested that Seacrest be forced to turn over private texts between he and Kylie Jenner, but the court is not requiring that of him at this time.
Seacrest previously refused to agree to a deposition on the basis that he was not personally involved with Rob & Chyna, and therefore “there simply is no legal or factual basis to subject
to a deposition” because he “had nothing whatsoever to do with the events giving rise to this action” and “has no relevant testimony to offer.”
Chyna and her team hit back at Seacrest, issuing a statement in response that read, “Contrary to Mr. Seacrest’s conduct… celebrities with massive wealth and fame are not above the law.”
“Although the requested amount of sanctions for Mr. Seacrest’s conduct will not make a dent in Mr. Seacrest’s wealth as a practical matter, it is very important of this Court to send a message to Mr. Seacrest and the celebrity community that they, in fact, are not above the law,” Chyna’s attorney, Lynne Ciani wrote in an affidavit:
“While no Californian likes to be subpoenaed for a deposition, noncompliance with that subpoena without justification should not be permitted simply because the subpoenaed Californian has the money to pay his attorneys to mount a baseless defense to the subpoena in court,” the affidavit added.
Ciani then went on to address Seacrest’s claims that he was never involved with Rob & Chyna.
“Now Seacrest is now falsely claiming he had no involvement with the show getting picked up for a second season,” she said. “One of the defenses in this case is that Season 2 of Rob & Chyna did not go forward due to ‘poor ratings.’ ”0comments
“However, Mr. Seacrest likely has unique knowledge regarding the impact on Defendants Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner of the fact that Season 1 of Rob & Chyna had higher ratings than the concurrent season of KUWTK, and twice the ratings of Rob & Chyna‘s Season 2 replacement show, Life of Kylie,” Ciani added.
There is no word on when Seacrest deposition will be held, but if Chyna’s team is not satisfied with his statements they will be allowed to to depose him a second time.

Celebrities rallied around Cyntoia Brown, but some worry about ‘Kardashian effect’
“We hope that the same shot would be available to everyone … But the reality is we don’t live in that world,” said one defense attorney.
When Cyntoia Brown learned her fate this week — that Tennessee’s governor was granting her clemency from a life sentence for murder — she was backed by a brigade of powerful celebrities who for more than a year shared headlines about her with millions of people.
Rihanna, Drake, LeBron James and Kim Kardashian West were some of the big names who used social media to champion Brown, who as a teenage human trafficking victim was convicted in the 2004 fatal shooting of a man who had hired her for sex.
While Brown’s impending freedom might give renewed hope to prisoners who believe the criminal justice system has failed them, defense attorneys and legal experts worry that the advantage of celebrity endorsements might overshadow an already fraught process that finds many inmates at a disadvantage.
They’re cautious, they say, about a “Kardashian effect.”
“The celebrity piece in Cyntoia Brown’s case made people pay attention — it was a nice catalyst,” said Kevin Sharp, a former federal judge and Nashville attorney who is supporting Kardashian West on another case of a Tennessee man serving a life sentence.
“There are plenty of people who are sitting in prison cells and their stories need to be told,” Sharp added. “But garnering celebrity support can’t be how to gain influence with decision makers or ensure justice moves forward. I’d hate for that to be the only way.”
It’s unclear whether Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, who had been inundated with letters of support for Brown, closely regarded what celebrities were saying. In December, actresses Alyssa Milano and Amy Schumer directed tweets asking him to consider clemency for Brown as social justice organizations launched a week of action.
In a statement Monday announcing his decision, he made no mention of the high-profile advocates, saying instead that he had taken “careful consideration” to determine a life sentence was especially harsh on someone who committed her crime at 16.
The governor lauded Brown, now 30, for continuing her schooling during the past 15 years in prison and proving herself a model inmate. His decision comes after the Tennessee Board of Parole was divided last year over recommending an early release.
In his eight years as governor, Haslam, a Republican who leaves office next week, has granted only a handful of commutations. Brown’s attorneys told NBC News that her pending release, which is set for August, is “extraordinary” and “unusual.”
Similar widespread attention is what Ohio attorney Jennifer Kinsley would like for one of her clients, Alexis Martin. In 2013, Martin was 15 when prosecutors say she was involved in the robbery and murder of a man who forced her into human trafficking.
While Martin, who is currently serving 21 years to life, has gotten some attention from victims’ advocate groups, major celebrities have yet to amplify her situation.
If someone like Kardashian West wanted to use their platform, Kinsley said, “I would welcome it.”
Still, she’s wary about having to count on Hollywood A-listers to tip the scales toward Martin, whose case remains on appeal and is seeking clemency from outgoing Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
“We hope that the same shot would be available to everyone, and that all people would have the opportunity to be treated fairly regardless of circumstances,” Kinsley said. “But the reality is we don’t live in that world.”
Kardashian West, who has more than 124 million followers on Instagram, has become one of the most outspoken celebrity activists in criminal justice reform. Last June, she successfully lobbied President Donald Trump to commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a first-time nonviolent drug offender who was serving a life sentence on drug charges. Kardashian West reportedly paid for Johnson’s legal team.
Since then, the reality TV star has been flooded with letters from prisoners asking for her help, according to TMZ.
Sharp said celebrities might shine a spotlight on cases of injustice, but it’s still the lawyers, activists and journalists who should be credited with exposing an inequity.
In the case of Matthew Charles, a Nashville man whom Kardashian West mentioned in a tweet last week when he was freed from prison for a second time, Sharp noted that it was Nashville Public Radio that had been following his story long before he was made a cause célèbre. Sharp was the federal judge who had first ordered Charles released in 2016 following his 35-year sentence for selling crack and illegal gun possession.
Charles was released again under the Trump administration’s First Step Act, which eases mandatory-minimum drug sentences and could see thousands of inmates benefit.
Sharp said it’s clear that celebrity interest “gives you a leg up,” and that they are oftentimes the most effective way to spread a story. He added that through his dealings with Kardashian West, she has shown herself to be a “serious person” on the subject of criminal justice reform — and she shouldn’t be ignored.
“Why do we listen to celebrities on anything?” Sharp said. “Sometimes a story has to be told so that citizens can say, ‘Wait a minute, here’s a wrong that needs to be righted, so how do we right that?'”

Blac Chyna and Kardashians to face off in 2020 trial
Blac Chyna is taking the Kardashians to trial.
The Lashed salon owner, whose real name is Angela White, will face off in court against Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Khloé Kardashian on Feb. 3, 2020, when a jury will hear her argument that the reality-TV family “unlawfully plotted” to end Chyna and Rob Kardashian’s E! reality show, “Rob & Chyna.”
The judge also granted Chyna’s motions compelling the E! network and Bunim Murray Productions, the production company behind the reality TV show, to produce documents relating to Season 2 of “Rob & Chyna.” The court rejected E!’s argument that the documents were “trade secrets” and ordered the company to hand over the documents to Chyna’s attorneys, according to a press release from Chyna’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom.
The court also rejected Bunim Murray’s attempt to force Blac Chyna to pay over $100,000 to Bunim Murray for its relevant documents.
Ryan Seacrest, who executive produces “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Rob & Chyna,” will be deposed in spring 2019.
“We look forward to getting these witnesses under oath and asking them questions,” Bloom said in a statement.
“We are pleased that Kris, Kim, Khloe, and Kylie will have to answer our client’s detailed allegations against them at a jury trial in a Los Angeles courtroom. Blac Chyna wants everyone to know that no one is above the law, no matter how much money, power, or influence you have,” said co-counsel Lynne M. Ciani of The Bloom Firm.
Page Six has reached out to the Kardashians’ attorney for comment.
As Page Six previously reported, Chyna sued Rob and his family in October 2017, claiming they “intentionally interfered” with the show “Rob & Chyna” so E! wouldn’t bring it back for a second season, which “harmed” Chyna “personally, professionally and financially.”
“Rob Kardashian is an abuser intent on destroying Angela White, the mother of his baby, who left him in 2016,” Chyna’s lawsuit claimed. “In revenge, the Kardashian-Jenner family became media predators, slut-shaming her on social media and killing her hit television show [‘Rob & Chyna’], which had already begun filming a second season.”

Kim Kardashian Was ‘Hysterically Crying’ After Kanye West Called Slavery a ‘Choice’
In a sneak peek from Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the reality star discusses her husband’s controversial slavery comments.
“He’s doing good; everyone thinks he’s having a breakdown,” Kardashian says after her friend Jonathan Cheban asks how the rapper is doing just days after the incident.
In May, West made headlines after implying that slavery was a “choice” for African-Americans during an interview on TMZ Live, where he also repeatedly proclaimed his love for polarizing President Donald Trump.
Accompanied by conservative commentator Candace Owens, the outspoken artist sounded off on the centuries African-Americans spent shackled in servitude.
“You hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice,” he said. “You were there for 400 years and it was all of y’all? It’s like we’re meant to be in prison. I like the word ‘prison’ because slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks…Prison is something that unites us as one race.”
Kardashian admits that she drove home “hysterically crying” to check on West.
“I rushed home, I was hysterically crying,” she recalls. “So I go home…he’s totally fine.”
But Kardashian says she wasn’t surprised to find her husband in a relaxed state amid the scandal.
“When he gets ramped up, he can’t control what he says, he can’t let it go,” she explains. “He loves being ramped up. He’s like ‘I feel powerful when I’m ramped up. I don’t want to be so suppressed. Yeah, I say crazy s— but I’ve always said crazy s—. That’s why I’m Kanye.’”
And no matter what the rapper does or says, Kardashian says she will always have West’s back.
“I always know what Kanye’s intentions are and what he’s trying to say, but I also know that they’re gonna write a headline and people are gonna assume that that’s exactly what you said and what you meant,” she says. “He didn’t say slavery is a choice, he was saying if you’re gonna still be enslaved for another 400 years then that’s some bulls—.”

Kim Kardashian Sucks On Penis Pipe In Shocking New Party Video With Ray J — Watch
Before her sex tape made waves on the internet, Kim Kardashian can be seen on another salacious video with Ray J, sucking on a penis-shaped pipe. Yes, you read that right. In a new video obtained by RadarOnline, Ray J can be seen holding the phallic pipe and eventually he brings it up next to his crotch. That’s when Kim swoops in and sucks it. Later Ray J smokes the phallic pipe and blows smoke right into Kim’s mouth. Watch the whole video below!
This new video comes on the heels of Kim’s bombshell admission on Keeping Up with the Kardashians that she had been on Ecstasy while filming her sex tape with Ray J, and during her first wedding. “I did Ecstasy once, and I got married,” she admitted, in addition to revealed that she partied quite a bit with Paris Hilton back in the day. “I did it again, and I did a sex tape. Everything bad would happen. Everyone knows it — my jaw [in the sex tape] was shaking the whole time.”
We reported earlier how Kim made a triumphant return to Ellen to talk about how watching all of the Tristan Thompson drama go down on KUWTK has made things awkward again. “It is awkward, especially for, maybe Tristan, who isn’t used to this and unfortunately, that was what’s going on in our lives,” Kim told host Ellen DeGeneres. Kim had previously told Ellen that Tristan was a “piece of s**t” back when the cheating scandal was at its height.

Ray J Says Kim Kardashian Is Lying About the Ecstasy Situation
That was quick! It has taken only one day for Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, Ray J to come forth and refute her claims of being high on ecstasy during the filming of their sex tape.
Ray J, a man of impeccable moral fiber, is said to have been offended that Kimberly would allude to him filming her while she was in an altered state. According to him, she was not on ecstasy, but she was a huge stoner at the time, preferring to take her weed out of a penis shaped pipe. If you can’t trust a man who owns a company called Scoot-E-Bike, who can you trust?
Meanwhile Kimberly’s sources stand by the claim, as she would “have nothing to gain by lying.” Well, Kim also claims that the two small planets attached to her backside grew there naturally, so do with that what you will. I don’t think that Kim was high during that tape. I do think that Scoot-E-Bike is an outstanding name for a business venture, but Ray J is also prone to trolling and antagonizing Kim, so I think that he would possibly lie about the situation as well.
During the filming of her latest Facebook Series, The Red Table Talk, Jada Pinket-Smith says that divorce from Will Smith, her husband of 21 years, is not an option. Jada, who has spoken candidly about the difficulties in her marriage in the series, claims that divorce would be too hard on her family… and material assets. She says:
“One of the ideas for me is that we’ve built such a beautiful community, we’ve built such a beautiful family and our survival — we do well together…Because when you have to start going in, breaking up assets, that right there…” “Let me tell you, that’s when the red table turns upside down and it won’t be red no more!”

Kim Kardashian: I was high on ecstasy in Ray J sex tape
High times indeed for Kim Kardashian.
Reflecting on her wildest moments during Sunday’s episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the mother of three said she was on ecstasy while filming her infamous 2003 sex tape with Ray J.
“I did ecstasy once and I got married. I did it again, I made a sex tape. Like, everything bad would happen,” Kardashian, 38, told Scott Disick and sister Kendall Jenner.
Kardashian wed music producer Damon Thomas in 2000 when she was 19 years old. He filed for divorce in 2003.
In 2007, Kardashian became a household name after her sex tape with then-boyfriend Ray J, now 37, was released.
“Like, my jaw was shaking the whole time,” Kardashian said of the experience.
She also recounted the time when she and pal Paris Hilton slept on rafts in the ocean after departing a party in Ibiza at 7 a.m.
“I definitely went through a wild phase, I would say in my late teens. I’m not like that anymore. But I still have fun — don’t get it twisted, I’m always the life of the party,” she said.
Kardashian has tamed herself in recent years, wedding Kanye West in 2014 following her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries in 2011.
