Animal shelter workers: We were forced to freeze kittens to death
Indiana cops are investigating a disturbing case of animal abuse, in which shelter workers allegedly euthanized kittens by freezing them alive.
Several ex-employees have come forward and claimed to have witnessed the cruel and inhumane procedure being performed at the Spencer County Animal Shelter on at least two different occasions.
One former worker named Bridgett Woodson spoke to local media outlets about the horrific things she saw during her three and a half months working at the shelter. She told reporters that she was asked to participate in the kitty killings twice — with the most recent case coming on July 31.
“The first time I was given an option to either just put it in a bag and put it in the freezer with no sedation, nothing — because I’m not a vet, I don’t have the license to be able to do that,” Woodson explained, speaking to WEHT.
“The second time I was not given the option, and I was just told to go ahead and put it in the freezer,” she said. “I mean, this cat was still up and moving and I had told her, and I still got the same response.”
Woodson reportedly refused “both times” to put the cats in the freezer and eventually took it upon herself to call the vet. She was allegedly ordered to carry out the killings by a Spencer County Animal Control Officer, the Courier & Press reports.
“I had to do something,” Woodson told the newspaper, noting how she quit her job and eventually got cops to investigate.
“I’m super concerned about the animals,” she said. “If this is deemed as acceptable and no one is held accountable, what else will start to slip through the cracks.”
Spencer County Sheriff’s Office Detective Chris King, who is handling the case, told WEHT that a number of witnesses have come forward since Woodson first accused the shelter of animal abuse. They claimed to have seen at least two freezer killings — one of which included the deaths of four kittens at once.
County officials expect the investigation to be taken over by the Indiana State Police due to conflict-of-interest reasons.
The animal control officer allegedly involved in the kitty deaths, identified by WEHT as Christina Payne, refused to answer requests for comment over the weekend. Woodson has been sharing text messages they exchanged about the alleged abuse with local media outlets.
“Hey. I took the cat to the vet and had it put down,” the ex-employee wrote in one text to Payne, according to the Courier.
“You can take the cost out of my pay check if that’s a problem,” she said. “I will not be putting live animals in the freezer if there’s another option available, please don’t ask me to do that again.”
In response, Payne wrote: “That’s fine but so you know, the freezer option is no less humane. It’s fine though Bridge. I’m here for my employees. Always.”
The American Veterinary Medical Association Guidelines for the Euthanasia of Animals considers the “slow chilling or freezing of unanesthetized animals” an unacceptable and inhumane method of euthanasia. It’s unclear when the investigation will be complete, but state police officials told the Courier that they expect to have an update in the coming days.

Nun busted for smuggling cocaine in high heels
A Missouri nun smuggled 2 pounds of cocaine into Australia using her high heels — but claims she was duped into the act by a man she met online.
Denise Marie Woodrum, 51, was caught arriving into Sydney Airport last August while making her way through customs — when officers discovered the drugs stuffed into the heels of her shoes, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Monday.
But her lawyer, Rebecca Neil, told District Court Judge Penelope Wass last week that the items were meant for a mystery man Woodrum had met online named Hendrik Cornelius.
“She was groomed to provide a financial gain for this person, Hendrik Cornelius, whatever person or persons it was behind this identity,” Neil said, according to the paper.
“She went on this trip thinking she was bringing artifacts for him.”
After a failed marriage and major health problems that led to crippling bills, Woodrum, a sister of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, a religious order based in Kansas, believed she had met someone special online.
“Can you promise you will never leave me?” she had texted him last July. “You are my Only and First True Family!!!”
Despite exchanging hundreds of texts with Cornelius, Woodrum had never met him face to face — and her lawyer claimed she was just a “vulnerable” woman who had been preyed on.
Woodrum pleaded guilty in January to importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug — but there are still questions surrounding how much she knew about what she was smuggling.
Wass questioned the claim that Woodrum was duped by an online lover, finding it “inconsistent and unbelievable.”
“I am less than convinced by her explanation,” she said, according to the Herald.
Prosecutor Ben Dunstan urged the judge to find that Woodrum knew she was bringing in cocaine as part of a plot she had full agency in.
Woodrum had flown from Missouri to Texas and then to Trinidad and Tobago on July 18. The next day she traveled to Suriname in South America, and on July 25 she texted someone named “Stacie”: “This whole trip is paid for and will get additional payment for work.”
On July 30 she texted Cornelius, “Riding in his car to get stuff no signature needed,” and on Aug. 2, she texted him a list of expenses for hotels and flights and then departed to Sydney.
When stopped at the airport, Woodrum said she’d come to Sydney to see the Harbour Bridge and the aquarium and that the shoes in her suitcase were a gift for her mom.
After being told the slingbacks tested positive for cocaine, she reportedly replied: “Why, how much did you find?”
She later told investigators she’d been given gifts and clothes in South America to give to people in Sydney. All the while, Cornelius was sending her messages that read: “Are you ok?” “What are you doing honey?” “Shuttle?” “In taxi?”
Woodrum has been in custody since the day she was arrested and will be sentenced next month.
Meanwhile, her dad, who lives in Illinois, said his daughter’s arrest “was a big shock to the whole family.”
“It just came out of the blue,” her father, Tom Rozanski, told the Herald.
Rozanski said his daughter was a former teacher with a master’s degree in marketing who suffered from depression and had undergone a hysterectomy.
“All of a sudden she met someone she talked to,” he told the paper. “She said she was going to be doing some traveling.”
“Life took a turn. She has never done anything like this before, and this experience has been difficult for me to understand. Mostly because none of our family has had anything happen to them that even remotely resembles what Denise has done,” he added.
“I’m just hoping the best for her, that’s all I can tell you.”

Man pleads guilty to stabbing parents of daughter who called him ugly
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A suburban Chicago man has pleaded guilty to stabbing the parents of a girl who called him “ugly.”
The Daily Herald reports that 21-year-old Zachary Machnikowski faces up to 60 years in prison on charges of attempted first-degree murder.
Police say the Naperville man believed a girl called him “ugly” while the two were at the same party in 2015. Machnikowski became angry and left the party to sneak into the girl’s home. Once inside, he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the girl’s parents in the head, neck and body while they were lying in bed.
The couple survived after the father was able to knock the knife away.
Machnikowski has been held without bail since the night of the stabbing. He faces sentencing later this summer.

Woman forced ex to have sex holding machete to his face
A Montana woman broke into a man’s house with a machete, ordered him to take off his clothes and forced him to have sex with her, police said.
Samantha Ray Mears, 19, was charged Friday with two felonies — aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon — as well as several misdemeanors for the incident at her ex-boyfriend’s Great Falls home, according to the Great Falls Tribune.
Mears reportedly broke into her ex of seven years’ house Friday while he was away. When he returned, she confronted him with the large knife, demanded that he take off all his clothes and ordered him to lie on his bed.
Fearing bodily harm, the victim complied and she proceeded to remove her pants and climb on top of him.
Mears then began to engage him in sexual intercourse — all while still holding the machete.
When he tried to get her to stop, Mears refused and bit him on the arm, according to KFBB.
After she finished, she sat naked on the bed, brandishing the weapon. At that point, the victim was able to take several photos of her, which he turned over to the police as evidence.
When an argument ensued soon after, an enraged Mears ripped a piece of trim from the victim’s wall and deliberately urinated in his bed, according to KFBB.
The ex-boyfriend was able to alert the authorities after claiming he needed to call a friend, then escaping from the room to dial 911.
According to the Tribune, Mears was also arrested in April after a previous argument at the victim’s home where she grabbed his hair, hit him in the face and attempted to strangle him.
The state has also filed a restraining order against the defendant, according to KFBB.

Woman blew up microwave at 7-Eleven with urine sample
DENVER — A Colorado woman has been cited by police after a container of what appeared to be urine blew up as she was heating it up in a microwave at a 7-Eleven.
Police say the incident occurred in the convenience store chain’s Aurora location last week when the clerk heard a loud bang and saw 26-year-old Angelique Sanchez take a white plastic bottle out of the microwave.
A police report says when confronted by the clerk, Sanchez wiped a yellow liquid that smelled like urine onto the floor and walked out.
Police located Sanchez at a nearby clinic where she had planned to take a urinalysis test for a potential employer.
The Denver woman was issued a summons for damaged property. She could not be reached for comment.

Human-sacrifice obsessed teen dressed as clown to stab lover during sex
A teen mom with an obsession for male sacrifice has been jailed for 11 and a half years after she stabbed her lover five times during sex.
Zoe Adams, 19, dressed in clown makeup and put a pillow over Kieran Bewick’s head “to make it kinkier.”
She then told Bewick – who was 17 at the time – “trust me” before stabbing him in the chest, arm and thigh with a ten-inch blade, jurors heard.
Adams admitted to unlawfully and maliciously wounding the now-18-year-old Bewick with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Adams, who was fascinated by serial killers, had asked Kieran if he was prepared to be tied up after smoking cannabis and downing half a bottle of vodka.
Carlisle Crown Court in the UK heard his description of the attack in a police interview shown to jurors – including how Adams had appeared wearing the clown make-up as he lay in bed.
Detective Constable Calvin Greaves said: “Any assault with a knife has the potential for fatal consequences. In this instance, the young victim of this callous and violent attack has been very fortunate to escape with his life.”
“Adams told officers she blacked out and had no memory of the attack. Her 17-year-old victim is not so fortunate. He will have to live with the physical and mental scars of Adams’ actions for the rest of his life.”
“He has shown great courage throughout the investigation, not least in giving detectives a statement regarding the attack whilst only hours into his recovery.”
Bewick told police in the taped interview: “She said ‘does this scare you?’ and I said ‘No, can you go and wash it off?’”
“She was just standing there staring at me and I kept repeating ‘can you go and wash it off.’”
“She had diamond eyes, and a Joker mouth, with red lipstick on the lips, and she had her hands behind her back. She had a weird smirk on her face.”
Bewick continued: “She asked again ‘Can I tie you to the bed?’ I said no, and then she said ‘put the pillow over your face then it is kinkier that way.’”Bewick, who has a fear of clowns, claimed Adams had joked about it being the Kieran Killer before asking him: “What will you let me do to you?”
“So I put the pillow on my head. She had been tracing with her finger on my chest and asked ‘do you really love me?’”
“I said ‘yes’. She said: ‘Do you really want me?’ I said ‘Yes’. She put her hand behind her back, I thought that she had my phone.”
“She said ‘put the pillow back on your face, trust me’. That’s when she stabbed me. I did not feel pain, but I felt the bleeding. I felt my lung pop and squirt blood.”
Bewick fled the house in his boxer shorts following the alleged attack last June with three wounds to his chest, arm and inner thigh.
Bewick ran the length of the street before finding Adams’ aunt, telling her: “Zoe’s stabbed me.”
The court heard how Adams had texted Bewick last June saying her sexual fantasy “was of a male being tied up and used as human sacrifice.”
Detective Constable Calvin Greaves of Cumbria Police told jurors a number of “highly concerning” images had been found on Adams’ phone – including an image showing blood around genitals.
One message read: “His wife cut his dick off and cooked it with noodles.”
Mom blends her placenta into smoothie and feeds it to family
A mom of four turned her placenta into a smoothie and fed it to her husband and their 3-year-old son for the health benefits.
Jay Woodall, 33, has four children, Logan, 9, Demitrius, 6, River, 3 and Storm, nine months, with husband Jon, 34.
Woodall always dreamed of repurposing her placenta but missed her opportunity with the first two, but found a solution by the time she had her two most recent children.
She paid $42 for her raw placenta to be turned into smoothies, and everything leftover was dehydrated and turned into pills – costing a further $210.
Woodall said: “It’s a mixed reaction, a few people think it’s a bit gross — not very appetizing.”
“There are some people that think about it and are interested and ask questions about it, I’ve had some people that listen to what I say and do it themselves as well.”
“People are grossed out, some people are interested.”
“I don’t care, everyone is entitled to their opinion and it’s my body. I’m the one that looks into stuff and I make up my own mind about whatever I do.”
“I’m up for trying things out if it’s going to benefit my health and my body, or my children’s bodies.”
“It’s not really much different from eating certain meats. A lot of animals do it, especially mammals, we’re the only ones who don’t eat the after birth.”
Woodall, a self-confessed hippy from England, even had her umbilical chord dehydrated and turned into a keepsake.
Woodall continued: “It just tasted like a berry smoothie. It had coconut water and berries in it so tasted really nice.”
“I had a boost of energy, better deeper sleep, and my mood was boosted – I felt really good.”
“Milk production was good too, I had to take less because I was producing too much milk.”
“The recovery after birth was quicker as well.”
“It didn’t really taste of anything because I had it with coconut water and berries.”
“But I did have a little taste of it on its own before and it just tastes a bit like liver, an irony, metallic taste. It’s not horrible, it’s not a disgusting taste at all.”
Woodall even fed the placenta smoothie to her husband and son, Demitrius.
Woodall said: “I think everyone had it. My husband had some just out of pure curiosity and my son tried some and said it was yummy. But again it had berries and stuff in it.”
“With my mom, I gave her half of my placenta pills when I gave birth to Storm because she was suffering from a few hormonal issues.”
“It was a similar response, they said it tasted nice and their energy levels increased. Mom said it made her feel very alert and very connected.”
“It’s a highly beneficial thing to do, I know mothers that have suffered from postnatal depression and I think it would help that, in my opinion.”
“She said it made her feel loads better and gave her a lot of energy. And I thought hormonally it made me feel a lot better too.”
“I’m quite an emotional person anyway, and it felt like my hormones were nicely balanced after I had it.”
“When you think how much some people spend on vitamins, it sounds like a lot but if it lasts you a whole year then it’s good value for money.”
“After I had the placenta smoothie, with both girls, I was able to go out that same day after giving birth.”
“A really calming feeling came over me. I had a boost of energy and just felt really good about myself. It was really lovely to experience feeling that.”
“It’s one of those things that you can be skeptical about it, but in my eyes, there’s nothing negative that could happen from it.”
“I was a bit more connected and bonded to my baby, I was able to have a very deep sleep after having it, so it just outweighs the negatives.”

Teen who died days after Christmas didn’t know she had cancer
A teenage girl tragically died just days after she was out partying with her friends — completely oblivious to the fact she had terminal cancer.
Ellie Walsh celebrated Christmas Eve with her friends without a care in the world, but three days later she fell gravely ill.
The 18-year-old from Lincolnshire, England, underwent surgery after a scan revealed a tumor in her stomach. Lincolnshire is about 110 miles north of London.
But there were complications during the lengthy procedure and despite the best efforts of doctors, she passed away.
Mom Emma Walsh, 37, says she never got the chance to properly say goodbye.
“We didn’t realize just how ill Ellie was,” she said. “She had tummy pains for a few years and then about five weeks ago, a scan showed she had a tumor.”
“We have been going to the doctors since 2014 as she has lost a lot of weight and had bad pains in her side, but it was always passed off and she was given Paracetamol [acetaminophen].”
“She died during the operation, but before she went in [for the operation], I told her I loved her and that I would see her later.”
“When they told me, I was in shock and my head went into a spin. You could see they were upset, but they did all they could.”
“I wouldn’t wish that on anybody, though.”
She had just embarked on her career, having just been hired as a receptionist after impressing as an apprentice at law firm Burton and Co.
But while her death has come as a surprise, her mom has taken comfort from the fact that the pair got to spend a final Christmas together and that her baby girl was able to live a normal life right until the end.
“It is a shock,” she added. “Ellie was out on Christmas Eve with her friends.”
“She was quite a private person and had a small group of friends, but they have stuck by her all the way through school.”
“They loved partying and even though Ellie was usually quiet, she would talk to anyone on a night out.”
“I am taking comfort from the fact Ellie got to do all the things she wanted to do as had she had known, she wouldn’t have enjoyed herself as much.”
The distraught mom has since learned that the growth in her daughter’s stomach was likely cancer and even if the operation had been a success, Ellie would have still most likely only had a few months left to live.
And she is glad that people will be able to remember her daughter for the bright and smiley girl she was.
“Ellie was so kind and funny,” she said. “She was a great sister and daughter.”
“She had a great sense of humor but was so brave. I will miss her forever.”
Tributes have appeared online since Ellie’s death was made public and her mom said that has really helped the family during a difficult time.
“I want to say thanks to everyone who has got in touch,” she added. “The nice things said about Ellie have been a real comfort.”
“Both Lincoln and Sheffield hospitals were great as well.”
Mary-Anne McNulty also paid a heartfelt tribute to her best friend of 14 years.
She said: “I went to primary school with Ellie and we started secondary school together until she left to go to LSST, but we still remained as close as ever.”
“Ellie was a kind, generous, beautiful and funny young girl. She will always remain my best friend and she will never be forgotten.”
An exact cause of death has yet to be determined.

Man says he had sex with dead girlfriend in effort to wake her up
A Connecticut man is behind bars after he had sex with his dead girlfriend — in the hope it would wake her up, according to reports.
Aaron Graser, 39, was sentenced to a year in prison for fourth-degree sexual assault of a corpse on Tuesday, the Hartford Courant reported.
Cops found Graser’s girlfriend dead in their apartment and surrounded by needles back in January, the paper reported.
Graser told police that he found her unresponsive with heroin and drug paraphernalia in her lap — and decided sex would be the best way to rouse her because she didn’t like sleeping with him.
“Aaron stated he listened to see if the victim was breathing and he heard gurgling. Aaron stated he knew the victim hated having sex with him so he figured that the victim might wake up if he had sex with her,” a warrant for Graser’s arrest read.
He also admitted tying her ankles and wrists to the bedposts because it was one of his kinks.
When the attempted coital revival failed, he put her pants on and called his neighbor, who used to be a paramedic. The neighbor later told police he believed the woman had been dead for hours.
An autopsy later determined the paramedic was correct — the ligatures caused by the bedpost ties didn’t have bruises, which means no blood was flowing at the time, a medical examiner testified at the trial.
The ME also testified that the gurgling Graser heard could have been decomposition gases escaping the woman’s body.
A toxicology report determined the woman had high levels of fentanyl, heroin and another synthetic drug in her body and she died from a drug overdose.
Graser originally was charged with second-degree assault, but agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge.
He was spared from being placed on the sex offender registry — the judge determined it wasn’t necessary for public safety “based upon the facts” of the case.

Teen’s plastic surgery to look like Angelina Jolie goes very wrong
An Iranian woman has gone viral after claiming she’s had 50 surgeries in a bid to look like her idol Angelina Jolie.
Sahar Tabar claims to be one of the “Tomb Raider” actress’ biggest fans and has said she “would do anything” to emulate her.
The 19-year-old from Tehran underwent 50 surgeries in the space of just a few months, according to Al Arabiya.
This hasn’t been officially confirmed, however, so it’s possible her unique looks are the result of careful makeup or even prosthetics.
She also reportedly went on a diet to maintain her 90-pound weight, which would, in all likelihood, classify her as dangerously underweight.
Tabar has amassed more than 308,000 followers on Instagram although many have left unflattering comments on her pictures. One person simply posted “Zombie” on a recent shot while another said: “Her: Doc make me look like an 8-month-old corpse. Doc: Say no more.”
