‘We’ve Survived So Much’: Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About CPS Showing Up to Home Over Claims She Was ‘Abusing’ Willow Smith
Jada Pinkett Smith has no issues with being open and candid on her talk show. And she says the reason is that her famous family weathered the “storm” of having child protective services show up at their door.
Smith made the admission while at the Ham Yard Hotel in London hosting a screening of her Facebook Watch series “Red Table Talk” on August 1.
“We’ve been through so much as a family, it takes a lot to rock us,” she told the Daily Mail when talking about the worst thing that has ever happened to her clan. “Once you’ve survived having child protection services come to your house because someone called and said, ‘You’re abusing Willow, you’re not feeding her’ … When you’ve gone through crazy stuff like that, whatever you’ve spoke about at the ‘Red Table Talk,’ doesn’t mean anything, due to the storms you’ve survived off of that table [and being so open].
“We’ve survived so much as a family, so that’s one of the things I’m grateful for,” she added. “We hold it down together and give each other that freedom to speak our truth.”
In 2014, the Los Angeles Department of Children & Family Services showed up to the Smith family home. At issue was a photo showing a then-13-year-old Willow lying in bed with her shirtless friend, actor Moises Arias, who was 20 at the time, that was posted to his Tumblr page.
Radar Online reported the agency got involved after receiving an anonymous tip “about the welfare and safety of Willow, based on the contents of the photo.”
Smith and her husband, actor Will Smith, were cleared after CPS investigated.
A source with DCFS told Radar there was “no evidence presented that Willow has ever been in any danger around Moises, or that she has ever been physically or emotionally abused.” Additionally, they found Willow was “a very well adjusted, smart, and articulate young lady.”
Speaking to TMZ before the clearing, Jada said “there was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You’re acting like covert pedophiles, and that’s not cool.”

Willow Smith Tells Her Grandmother She Desires Bisexual Bigamy
Article via Breitbart
Willow Smith – daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith – told her grandmother that she desires a sexual relationship with a woman and a man during the latest episode of the Facebook web series Red Table Talk.
The web series features the Smith family discussing a range of unconventional topics. The latest webisode revolved around Willow Smith’s desired “alternatives” to traditional marriage, involving the idea of a “throuple.” She told her family that her “ideal” relationship would involve both a man and a woman at the same time.
“Personally, male and female, that’s all I need,” Smith said to her mother’s initial dismay.
“Well, there it is … I think my stomach just [jumped],” Pinkett Smith said, before adding, “Listen, you know me Willow, whatever makes you happy.”
The younger Smith explained that she loves men and women “equally,” and because of that, she would “definitely want one man, one woman.”
She said she could embrace a polyfidelitous relationship, which is essentially a non-monogamous relationship that carries stricter standards about devotion, intimacy, and equality of the partners within the group.
“I feel like I could be polyfidelitous with those two people. I’m not the kind of person that is constantly looking for new sexual experiences,” she explained.
“I focus a lot on the emotional connection and I feel like if I were to find two people of different genders that I really connected with and we had a romantic and sexual connection, I don’t feel like I would feel the need to try to go find more,” she continued.
At one point in the episode, the family speaks to a throuple about the complexities of their relationship. The “Whip My Hair” singer was completely on board.
“That’s what humans are made for. Our brains are wired for connection and for community,” Smith said. “And when we cut off those connections of – like, ‘Oh no like I’m only supposed to love one person, like that’s the way it’s supposed to be,’– that can make some people really depressed and sad and not even know why that’s happening to them.”
Pinkett-Smith said she could understand polyamorous relationships to an extent, because she considered her relationship with Will Smith and his ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, a “non-sexual throuple.”
“[The reason polyamory is] not so foreign for me is that I’ve had a non-sexual throuple for years with Sheree,” said Pinkett Smith said. “When you have your husband that is taking care of another woman and spending time with another woman, it’s the same thing.”
Smith’s grandmother “Gammy” jumped into the conversation and noted her distaste of her granddaughter’s sexual desires.
“I would not be excited about that,” she said.
Smith would not hear it.
“Love is universal,” she said. “There’s so many different types of people in this world and so many people to learn from, and I don’t see the benefit in … not putting myself in a position to learn as much as I possibly can from as many people as I possibly can.”

Jada Pinkett Smith revealed her husband, Will, felt ‘abandoned’ by her efforts to gain more independence
Article via FOXNews
Actress Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that her husband, Will Smith, felt “abandoned” by her efforts to gain more independence in their marriage.
Pinkett Smith was joined by her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, as well as the couple’s therapist, Esther Perel, in the latest episode of her Facebook watch series “Red Table Talk.” In the episode, the group gets candid about mending a relationship after infidelity.
Pinkett Smith reveals that, while Will never cheated on her, there were “betrayals of the heart” that caused them to completely reassess their relationship and move forward outside the confines of traditional marriage rules.
“Specifically for me, in regards to redefining my marriage as a life partnership was the necessity of autonomy for myself and for Will, and finding the core of us that wanted to be together outside of the constraints of the traditional ideas of marriage because they weren’t working for us,” she shared.
In the midst of that self-reflection, Jada says she realized that she was living her life in service of Will’s happiness.
“Our whole life looked like his dream. I’m his energy source. That’s great, but I’ve got to create part of this life that is designed and looks like me,” she said.
However, when asked if Will took that news well, Pinkett Smith revealed that it initially caused further strain.
“He felt abandoned at first, he felt really abandoned,” she admitted. “That’s one of the reasons why I stayed in it the way I did for so long. Because I was so terrified. First of all, you never want to hurt the person that you love. You never want to create instability that way.”
“It has been one of the most excruciating processes of my life,” she continued. “I’ve wanted to personally break out of Will needing to be something for me because I felt like that was so unfair. And a lot of it had to do with my father issues. I just realized one day, ‘This man is not your father!”
The star concluded by noting that learning to trust Will to be the man that he is was the work she put in, while Will figured out a way to understand her need for independence.

Jada Pinkett Smith: Daughter Willow is ‘curious’ about polyamory
Article via PageSix
Jada Pinkett Smith is very open about her marriage, family, and escapades…
The actress and host of “Red Table Talk” appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday and revealed the next topic to be discussed on her Facebook show.
Pinkett Smith, 47, told the late-night host that it was her daughter and co-host Willow Smith, 18, who actually brought the idea of exploring a relationship between a man and two women to the table.
Details on the show’s guests were scarce, but according to the “Girls Trip” star, it was Willow who found them on social media.
“It’s a throuple that Willow was actually following on Instagram,” Pinkett Smith explained. “That’s how it all came to be. She became very curious about this whole polyamory thing.”
Kimmel asked the “Set It Off” actress whether or not Willow’s curiosity might push her into engaging in a polyamorous relationship of her own in the future, to which Pinkett Smith said that while it is a possibility, she is unsure of her daughter’s preferences.
“Possibly. I don’t know,” she said. “Listen, she’s 18 — who the heck knows what’s going to go down?”
Fans of “Red Table Talk” often praise Pinkett Smith for her willingness to ask her guests tough questions. In March, she sat down with Kylie Jenner’s former best friend, Jordyn Woods, in what was her first interview since the public scandal involving her and NBA star Tristan Thompson, the father of Khloé Kardashian’s daughter.
The 30-minute Woods episode, which also featured a video call from Will Smith from the set of “Bad Boys for Life,” has been viewed more than 32 million times.

Willow Smith Reveals She Used to Cut Herself
Article via PopCulture
Willow Smith shared her story of self-harm in an episode of Jada Pinkett Smith‘s Red Table Talk, sparking conversations about mental health and coping mechanisms.
The Smith family has put some important topics into the public conversation in the last year on Red Table Talk, the generation-spanning talk show on Facebook Watch. They revisited some of their biggest moments on Thursday at an event in Los Angeles, celebrating the talk show’s upcoming second season. According to TooFab, Jada Pinkett Smith said that her daughter has done a lot of good by opening up about her history of self-harm.
“I’ve had a lot of young people come up to me about Willow as well,” she said. “In that particular episode when she kind of revealed about self-harm, we had people in our family that we didn’t even know that felt like now they could reveal what had been going on with them because Willow did.”
Pinkett Smith said that her daughter’s revelation opened up important conversations throughout their whole family, and now the world is having those discussions as well.
“That particular episode was a deeply healing episode within our internal family because there had been a few people who had been going through stuff that none of us knew about,” she continued. “Because of Willow’s strength and courage, we were able to connect on a different level. That was a really powerful episode for us personally as a family.”
Willow Smith told her story in one of the show’s first episodes, back in May of 2018. She recalled feeling like she has lost her “sanity” in 2010, after the explosive release of her song “Whip My Hair.”
“I had just stopped doing singing lessons and I was kind of just in this gray area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?'” she explained. “After the tour, the promotion and all that, they wanted me to finish my album and I was like, I’m not going to do that,” she recalled.
“After all of that kinda settled down and it was like a kind of lull, I was just listening to a lot of dark music. It was just so crazy and I was plunged into this black hole, and I was cutting myself,” she went on.
That caught Pinkett Smith off guard, as she apparently heard it for the first time on air. Willow said that she had kept her self-harm a secret from everyone except for one friend.
“I never talk about it because it was such a short, weird point in my life,” she said. “I honestly felt like I was experiencing so much emotional pain, but my physical circumstances weren’t reflecting that. One night I was like, this is actually psychotic and after that I just stopped.”
Red Table Talk will be back for another season on Facebook Watch.
