Woman fatally shot as husband was cleaning gun
CORINTH, N.Y. — Police say an upstate New York woman was killed in an apparent accident when a shot discharged as her husband was cleaning his gun.
New York state police say 34-year-old Ashley Rosenbrock was shot Thursday night in her home in Corinth. She was pronounced dead at Saratoga Hospital.
Police said Saturday that Rosenbrock’s 35-year-old husband, Eric Rosenbrock, was “performing maintenance” on his legally owned handgun when it went off.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that Eric Rosenbrock is a science teacher in the Lake George school district and the father of three young children with his wife. The couple had an 18-month-old daughter who died from an infection five years ago.

Woman arrested for choking wrong man over alleged butt grab
An upstate woman choked a nightclub bouncer unconscious because she thought he grabbed her butt — only to learn one of her own friends was the real groper, according to a new report.
Plattsburgh resident Kierah Lagrave, 22, was at Five1Eight nightclub, where she works, on Oct. 20 when someone hit her from behind, according to the Press-Republican newspaper.
The 125-pound woman then walked up behind the club’s bouncer and strangled him until he fell to the floor unconscious, police told the paper.
When cops questioned Lagrave about the incident, she acknowledged choking the guard but said it was because he grabbed her.
However, police say security footage revealed the bouncer was innocent.
“The surveillance video clearly shows that Lagrave’s friend slapped her on the buttocks [beforehand],” Plattsburgh City Police Chief Levi Ritter told the paper.
Lagrave was arrested Thursday and his with the felony charge of second-degree strangulation. She was released on her own recognizance, the Press-Republican reports.

Teen stabs grandmother while she slept, steals $23
ALBION, N.Y. — Police say a 17-year-old western New York boy broke into his grandmother’s house and stabbed her while she was sleeping.
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office says Albion resident Brandon Foster went into his grandmother’s house through a window just before midnight Sunday. Police say Foster then went into her bedroom and stabbed her while she slept.
She fought him off and was able to get away. Officials say Foster stole $23 and his grandmother’s phone before fleeing. He was found at about 6 a.m. Monday and charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault.
The grandmother is recovering at a hospital.
Authorities say mental health issues and a previous confrontation between the two may have played a role in the attack.
The teen is being held in the county jail. The name of his lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
