‘Tyler Perry’s Bruh’ debuting on BET streaming service May 7
The latest Tyler Perry project is debuting Thursday, May 7, exclusively on the BET+ streaming service. “Bruh” is a dramedy focused on four 30-something friends who have known each other since college.
This is Perry’s second production exclusively for BET+ following the drama “Ruthless” about a woman trapped in a cult.
The first three episodes of “Bruh” will be available at launch. A new show from the 24-episode season will then drop each week after that.
The publicity materials note that “in a society where companionship between men of color is often misjudged and misrepresented, ‘Tyler Perry’s Bruh’depicts a healthy image of black brotherhood; embracing vulnerability without playing on stereotypical hypermasculinity.”
“Bruh” is a slang term popularized in African-American greek culture, referencing friends so close they’re more like brothers.
That is the case for John (Barry Brewer), Tom (Mahdi Cocci), Mike (Phillip Mullings Jr.) and Bill (Monti Washington), who are navigating different career and relationship paths while relying on each other for support. The publicists note: “Sometimes their love is tough and their honesty brutal, but they manage to see each other through every scenario with levity and laughter.”
As usual, this entire season was written by Perry himself. He also directed and executive produced the series at Tyler Perry Studios.

Tyler Perry Has Always Hated Playing Madea & Can’t Wait To Hang Up His Wig
It’s a wrap for Mabel Simmons.
Article via HotNewHipHop
She may have helped Tyler Perry build a $2 billion franchise, but Mabel Earlene “Madea” Simmons is a character that the media mogul can’t wait to see in the rearview mirror. For years, Perry has shared that he was giving up his beloved Madea character to work on other projects, but after fans publicly expressed how she impacted their lives, Perry continued on with the character.
However, all good things must come to an end, and Madea’s final days are quickly approaching. In an interview with Level, a publication geared toward men of color over 30, Perry was asked if he misses Madea. “Nope. I don’t,” he said matter-of-factly. The interviewer wanted to know if there was even a little part of Perry that wanted to revive his character for one more ’round. “No. We have a few more weeks of the Farewell Tour and then I’m done.”
Madea may have brought in the laughs—and a good-sized bankroll—but she was never a favorite of Perry’s. “It was never something I enjoyed doing,” he said. “My hand to God. I hated the costume, the wig, all of it.” The only reason Perry even thought of doing a female impersonation in his act was because of the successes of another comedy actor.
“I was scared to death!” he said of creating Madea and donning the wardrobe for the first time. “I watched Eddie Murphy and how he did his female characters. I said I’ll try it once and that’s it.” The rest is history. Are you a Madea fan?

Mo’Nique Questions If Tyler Perry Paid Taraji P. Henson ‘Fairly’
She also has some thoughts on Tyler Perry buying Tiffany Haddish a car…
Mo’Nique is still questioning other people’s check. First, she was crying over Whoopi Goldberg‘s salary at “The View” and now she is asking if Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson was paid “fairly” by Tyler Perry.
Back in June, Henson said about Tyler Perry, “I think the industry knew I was talented. But it’s about money. Are you bankable? I had to continuously prove that. I’ve been trying to prove and improve. I was asking for half a million. I didn’t get paid that until I did my first Tyler Perry film.”
Sounds like she was happy with her salary, but in an interview with Comedy Hype, Mo’Nique said, “He says, ‘I’m the first person to pay Taraji P. Henson the most money she’s ever made.’ And then we say, ‘But did you pay her fairly?’ And then he said, ‘I paid her more than she’s ever made.’ What does that mean, brother?”
She then made a statement about a car Perry bought for Tiffany Haddish. “When you go and buy Tiffany Haddish a car” and her husband Sidney Hicks added, “If I give you what you are worth, you can buy your own car.” Watch below:
In another interview that was released last month by Comedy Hype, the Oscar winner said about Whoopi Goldberg’s money, “Because Whoopi Goldberg told me the salary she makes from ‘The View.’ And that hurt my feelings. You’ve been there for 10 years and you accept them paying you that? And you’re telling me, ‘Don’t worry about the little ones coming up? Damn if I ain’t gotta be worried about you too. Because you accept that salary, it makes it hard for me. And how hard do you think it’s gonna make for the ones who ain’t here yet, because you accept that salary?”
She continued, “What if Moms Mabley didn’t worry about you? What if those ones didn’t make it better for us? So, I tried not to take it personal, but it’s personal. Because these are the women I look to. So I don’t want the little girl who’s not here yet… or a little girl down the street at the juicebar… I don’t want her to walk away and say, ‘That ain’t who I thought she was.’”
Whoopi Goldberg is allegedly paid $5 million a year at “The View” and net worth is supposedly $50 million. Henson’s net worth is allegedly $16 million.

Last month, Tyler Perry announced he would be saying goodbye to his beloved Madea character, and now, he’s revealed dates for her final performances.
“Madea’s Farewell Play Tour,” which will kick off next year in January, marks the filmmaker’s 21st play and the end of the Madea franchise.
“I just don’t want to be her age [still] playing her,” he joked during an interview in October.
The character Mabel Earlene “Madea” Simmons, played by Perry himself, first appeared as a 68-year-old in the 1999 stage play “I Can Do Bad All by Myself,” followed by the play and film, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.”
According to Vanity Fair, Madea has appeared in dozens of productions since — and her films alone have grossed upwards of $500 million globally.

Tyler Perry Is Killing Off His Madea Character Once And For All
The entertainment mogul’s feisty granny character has made him a fortune.
Madea’s days are numbered.
Tyler Perry said he’s retiring his mischievous grandma character after a final film appearance and stage tour.
“This is it,” Perry told SiriusXM radio host Bevy Smith on Monday in the clip below. “It’s time for me to kill that old bitch. I’m tired!”
Perry said his geriatric alter-ego will hit the big screen one last time in “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral” in March 2019. He’ll also play her on a farewell stage tour.
“We’re gonna say goodbye in ’19,” Perry said. “I just don’t want to be her age playing her.”
Perry likely won’t be forgetting Madea’s largesse. Eight films in the Madea franchise have grossed an overall total of $502 million worldwide at the box office, not to mention the revenue from three other films in which Perry appeared as her.
“She’s been very good to me,” Perry told The Advocate last year. “I love the joy that she brings to people. I love to see them laughing and smiling.”
Anybody feeling sad about the goodbye? Well….
Mo’Nique’s Three Year Hobo Tour: Part 2- Netflix
Mo’Nique is an established actress and comedian. After the height of her acting career, with accolades from Precious and Bessie, we did not see much of her. About four years ago Mo’ came out to tell her story, starting with Empire.
In January of this year, Mo’ focused on her losses with Netflix. She alleged Netflix offered her $500,000, while Dave Chappelle and Kevin Hart received deals for $20 million and Amy Schumer received a $13 million deal. Mo’ threatened to sue Netflix for color and gender bias, and requested support in the form a boycott against Netflix.
A Jawn Murrray came out a week later and claimed that Mo’ was actually offered $3 million.
Early February Mo’s tour took a detour as she appeared on Khia And TS Madison’s show The Queens Court. Many pointed out how messy it was of Mo’ to keep livestreaming when TS was breaking down.
Later that same February, Mo’ continued her Netflix ‘inequality pay’ tour, appearing on the View. Most noticeably, Mo’ appeared on The Breakfast Club and chastised Charlemagne the God, after he gave her Donkey of the Day.
Late June, Mo’ released private phone conversations with Tyler Perry.
Late July, Mo’ came out in support of Roseanne Barr, after Barr’s racial tirade, claiming “My SISTER came on my BET show”. This was the incident that led many to end their support for Mo’nique.

Mo’Nique’s Three Year Hobo Tour: Part 1- Empire
Mo’Nique has established herself as an important marker in the entertainment industry as a comedian and an actress; having made great strides: breaking barriers for women, African Americans, and plus size people.
She initially became well-known from her hit show The Parkers. She went on to host her late night talk show The Monique Show in 2009 to 2011. She earned an Oscar for her role in Precious and was nominated for an Emmy in Bessie.
After her Precious and Bessie roles we did not see as much as Mo’ as we should have, for an Oscar awardee. She came out about four years ago to tell her story.
Watch Lovelyti’s first video on the situation: Mo’Nique says EMPIRE creator Lee Daniels told her she was “Blackballed” after her Oscar win.
Mo’ continued to defend herself against the allegations of a nasty attitude. To shed light on Lee Daniels character, Mo’ alleged that Daniels once called Halle Berry a B***ch “[out of nervousness]”:
Around the same time, Mo’nique says she was supposed to play Cookie on Empire. The co-creator of Empire, Danny Strong, said that was not true, and Cookie has always been Taraji’s role:
Lee Daniels allegedly claimed Mo’Nique was never considered for the role of Cookie, and the show’s co-creator Danny Strong insisted that she’s never been offered the part. In response, during her interview on Sway in the Morning, Mo’Nique brought along proof that she was offered the role of Cookie, in the form of a printed email chain between her and Daniels’ team.
This was around April of 2015. Mo’ later came back onto the radar in May of 2017 when a clip of her comedy show went viral, in which she blasted Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.
“[They] could suck my d*** if I had one.
Mo’ continued her tour in January of 2018 at Netflix headquarters.
STEVE HARVEY SUED FOR ALLEGED FRAUD INVOLVING CHARITY Blames Oprah, Tyler Perry for Bad Financial Advice
STEVE HARVEY SUED FOR ALLEGED FRAUD INVOLVING CHARITY: Blames Oprah and Tyler Perry for Bad Financial Advice
Steve Harvey is being sued by someone who claims he was hired by the TV mogul to raise $20 million for the Steve and Marjorie Foundation as well as other ventures and got royally stiffed.
Vincent Dimmock claims he struck a deal with Harvey in April to raise the $20 mil, and in return he says he was promised 12.5% of everything he brought in. Dimmock says in the lawsuit he had access to high-level execs, A-list entertainers and political figures including a former President, and he got pledges for $20 mil.
According to the suit, Dimmock delivered on the first million but Harvey refused to pay him his commission.
Dimmock claims Harvey never intended to pay him and then goes on to make various allegations.
Dimmock says he introduced Harvey to an investor in May, and during their meeting he allegedly disparaged women, blamed Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry for giving him bad financial advice and also blamed Barack Obama for Harvey’s “disastrous meeting with Donald Trump.”
He says Harvey and his foundation were in bad financial shape because of a series of P.R. gaffes, including mocking Asian men and meeting with Trump.
We reached out to Harvey’s agent, Todd Frank, who tells TMZ, “It sounds fake. Steve is the most loyal guy in the world. I’ve never been stiffed on a commission from Steve Harvey in 21 years.”
