Thief steals chemo medication from patient’s porch
A brazen thief stole chemotherapy medication from an Oklahoma City man’s doorstep just minutes after it was delivered, delaying his treatment for brain cancer.
James Mills, 43, said his planned round of chemotherapy on Monday would not happen after a hooded suspect swiped the potentially life-saving delivery from his porch on Saturday.
“I checked the door and didn’t see the package,” Mills told KFOR. “I double checked and they said it had been delivered. I check the security cameras, and I saw the UPS driver deliver it, then about eight minutes later another individual comes up, grabs it and takes off.”
Video shows that the suspect took steps to avoid identifying himself during the heartless heist, keeping his head down and away from two cameras installed on Mills’ porch.
“I’m set to start a rotation of chemo [Monday] and it takes a day at least to get that mail ordered to us, so that’s kind of my concern at this point,” Mills told the station. “Every thing has to be taken at a certain time, at a certain dose … so hopefully I can get a replacement before I get too far out of range.”
Mills’ wife, Heather, said she was seething over the aggravation the thief has caused her husband.
“It’s not easy to get, I mean, we had trouble getting medicine to begin with,” she told the station. “Just having to call the pharmacy and go through the doctor and get approvals and things like that, so just that in itself is frustrating. So now to have to go through it all over again, just to get a replacement, it made me really angry.”
Mills said the pharmacy was closed over the weekend, leaving him without another option until it reopened early Monday.
“It’s pretty expensive medication as well,” Mills told the station. “We’ll have to find out what the procedure is to get [a] replacement.”
Mills, who did not immediately return a message seeking comment Monday, has filed a report with Oklahoma City police regarding the theft and told investigators that the medication without insurance assistance was worth $30,000, according to an incident report.
No arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon, police confirmed to The Post.

Man busted for stealing 150 pounds of waffle mix
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — A Georgia man is accused of stealing 150 pounds of waffle mix from a former employer and flipping it to a syrupy stream of buyers.
Peachtree City police spokeswoman Lt. Odilia Bergh told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday that 33-year-old Brandon Lee Nelson is charged with burglary.
Police say Nelson drove to his former employer’s storage facility in August and stole five boxes of Golden Malted waffle batter. Bergh says Nelson then covertly sold it to buyers who contacted him about the stolen dough.
Bergh says Nelson later was identified on surveillance video of the theft and arrested this month. He has since posted bail and been released. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

Mother left naked toddler in bathroom during dollar store robbery
Ohio police arrested a mother on Tuesday after she allegedly tried to rob a dollar store while her 1-year-old daughter was left unattended in the bathroom, reports said.
According to Fox 8, Mary Waguespack was at a Dollar General in Alliance when she allegedly attempted to make off with nearly $100 worth of store merchandise while her daughter was alone. She tried to flee the scene through the fire exit but tripped an alarm, Cleveland 19 News reported.
The little girl eventually escaped from the bathroom and was running around the store naked during her mother’s alleged heist, according to a police report obtained by the outlet. The girl was eventually “corralled” by Waguespack, 36, Cleveland 19 News said.
Officers reportedly apprehended Waguespack and charged her with petty theft and endangering a child. The endangerment charge was raised to a fourth degree felony due to a previous child endangerment conviction in 2012, Fox 8 reported.
The little girl was reportedly picked up by Waguespack’s husband, whom she was divorcing, while the mother was brought to jail, the outlet said. Child services were notified of the incident, Fox 8 reported.
Girl Scout leader wanted for stealing $15K worth of cookies
And you thought you loved Thin Mints and Samoas.
A Girl Scout leader from Kentucky has gone on the run after allegedly stealing more than $15,000 worth of cookies from not only her own troop, but maybe neighboring troops as well, reports the Appalachian News-Express.
Leah Ann Vick, of Auxier, Ky., was formally indicted by a Pike County jury on a charge of “felony theft by unlawful taking,” and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, according to district attorney Rick Bartley.
Authorities are currently looking for Vick, 26, who they believe to be actively evading law enforcement.
The crime originally occurred on Feb. 1, per the indictment. According to the Bartley, Vick picked up a large order of cookies for her Wilderness Road chapter — and perhaps a few orders belonging to other troops — in Pikesville, Ky.
Vick was then supposed to return to pay for the cookies once they had been sold (the local troops don’t normally provide payment up front), but she never went back. The Girl Scouts also say they have no record of Vick dropping off her troop’s shipment with her girls.
“She picked up the cookies and never took them to them, so we don’t know what she did with them,” said Bartley.
“She has never paid for any of them and, anyone who has tried to contact her about them has not been able to contact her,” he added.
Authorities also confirmed that Vick has been using “several different addresses” in eastern Kentucky since going on the lam, making it that much harder for law enforcement to track her down.
“It looks like she picked up the cookies and, now, she and the cookies have disappeared,” stated Bartley.
Vick’s indictment follows a similar, though more disturbing incidence of theft from a Girl Scout in California. On Feb. 17, a 12-year-old scout in Union, Calif., was robbed at gunpoint while selling cookies outside a Safeway supermarket alongside her mother. The Union City Police Department later raised $1,000 for the girl’s local troop.
