Escort says she shot client because he was bad at oral sex
An escort in Washington state says she shot her client twice in the head — because he was lousy at oral sex, according to reports.
Marissa Wallen, 21, then allegedly stole her john’s wallet and gun, left him for dead and went on a $12,000 spending spree in Skagit County, according to the Herald of Everett, Wash.
The 36-year-old North Everett man’s employer grew concerned when he didn’t log in for his stay-at-home job on the morning of Oct. 24.
When police were sent to check on him, he was found alive — slumped against a wall with dried blood on his head. Two shell casings nearby did not match the caliber of his missing handgun, officials said.
He was unable to speak, so police communicated with him using hand signals, according to the news outlet. He indicated he knew his attacker but could not provide a name.
Security footage from the apartment revealed that Wallen had visited five times in October. She was last seen entering at 8:45 p.m. Oct. 21, and then fleeing at 10 p.m. clutching what appeared to be credit cards, officials said.
Store security cameras showed Wallen using the cards, according to authorities, who tracked her down at a home in Mount Vernon, Wash., on Tuesday.
When confronted with evidence, Wallen kept changing her story before finally admitting she shot the man twice in the back of the head, “because he was performing (a sex act) wrong,” according to her statement.
Wallen, who has an 11-month-old child, was ordered held on pending charges of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and first-degree identity theft.
“I was stunned on Tuesday when the first detective came to our door,” next-door neighbor Mark Barnum told KIRO-TV. “He said, ‘Your neighbor was shot twice in the head.’”
He said he “heard what sounded like two or three taps coming from the wall. It was notable because we don’t usually hear anything.”
He said he initially thought the noise could have been from a hammer.
“It’s just kind of shocking to think perhaps that was maybe — maybe those were the shots. Maybe it was [the victim]. And I feel really badly that I was unable to help,” Barnum said.
Other neighbors said the victim works in high tech.
“He keeps to himself a lot, he’s got his computer stuff up there. He handles a lot of websites, IT security,” Erik Buxton told KIRO.
According to documents, the man “had been hiring female escorts and frequenting a strip club in Seattle, where he was bragging about how much money he earned and belongings he had at his house.”
Buxton said the victim “liked to kind of flash his money a little bit. It’s what’s going to happen — you’re going to attract negative people along the way.”
On Wednesday, a judge said Wallen had outstanding warrants for her arrest and set her bail at $1 million.
Her public defender, Pooja Vaddadi, said medical problems have prevented her from appearing in court several times, according to the Herald.
Another suspect, Jenner Matthews, was arrested in the case, KIRO reported. The probable-cause document said Wallen made payments to him through Facebook using the victim’s accounts.

Fight over Bible verse on forgiveness leaves student dead
A Georgia college student was fatally shot in a fight with a pal over a Bible verse on forgiveness, police said.
Jacquell Smith, 20, was gunned down Sunday after reportedly feuding with his friend Raekwon Pauldo over scripture at a Dublin home, news station WMAZ reported.
Police said that the argument started with the verse but “then that turned to something else.”
“Apparently two friends got into an argument,” Dublin police Chief Tim Chatman told WMAZ. “These are friends. They’ve been knowing each other for a long time. They were arguing over stuff that didn’t make any sense.”
The argument escalated when Pauldo allegedly shot his friend twice in the head, police said.
Smith was rushed to Fairview Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Pauldo, 21, was later arrested on murder charges.
Friends created a GoFundMe page to raise money for Smith’s funeral service.

Man guns down his own mother in hospital ICU
An active shooter scare at a New Hampshire hospital on Tuesday turned out to be a deadly domestic situation — with a man killing his own mother as she laid in the intensive care unit, officials said.
Pamela Ferriere, 70, was gunned down by her 49-year-old son, Travis Frink, shortly after he arrived at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, according to WCVB.
“The purpose of Mr. Frink’s visit to the hospital was to kill his mother,” Attorney General Gordon MacDonald said Tuesday night at a press conference.
It took Frink a total of nine minutes — from the moment he signed in at the visitors desk to the time he arrived at the ICU unit — for him to take his mother’s life, MacDonald said.
Cops swarmed Darmouth-Hitchcock, New Hampshire’s largest hospital, at around 1:24 p.m. after receiving reports of an active shooter. The facility was placed on lockdown for at least an hour while authorities searched for a suspect.
Frink was eventually captured by local police while attempting to leave the premises, WJAR reports.
He allegedly let off several rounds while inside the medical center, but Ferriere was the only person hit.
Her son appeared to arrive at the facility in a silver SUV, which was surrounded by police and being checked during the lockdown.
Rhode Island State Police later confirmed to WJAR that the vehicle did belong to Frink, who is a Warwick resident.
Authorities were reportedly conducting a “well-being check” at his home Tuesday night.
Frink is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder.

Landlord surrenders after allegedly shooting tenant over unpaid rent
A Bronx landlord who allegedly shot one of his tenants over unpaid rent turned himself in to authorities Tuesday, police said.
Robert Grant, 43, walked into the 47th Precinct where he immediately demanded a lawyer up after being charged with attempted murder, assault and possession of a weapon.
Grant confronted victim Michael Taylor over the back rent as he and his girlfriend were returning home to the Amundson Ave. building in Edenwald around 10:40 p.m. Monday, police said.
The two men began fighting before Grant allegedly pulled out a .40 caliber handgun and shot Taylor in the chest.
Taylor and his girlfriend then tried to drive to get help before cops pulled them over several blocks away and called an ambulance.
Taylor was then taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition, officials said.
Grant fled the scene and had been on the run from police before turning himself in on Tuesday.

Woman shoots homeless man who asked her to move Porsche
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A woman has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a homeless man in Nashville last month.
News outlets report 26-year-old Katie Quackenbush was charged Monday night in the Aug. 26 shooting of 54-year-old Gerald Melton near Music Row.
Metro Nashville police say Melton was disturbed by exhaust fumes and loud music coming from Quackenbush’s Porsche SUV while trying to sleep at 3 a.m., and asked her to move the vehicle. Police say the two began yelling at each other, and Quackenbush exited the vehicle and shot Melton twice before running up the street with another woman.
Quackenbush’s father, Jesse Quackenbush, disputed the police account, saying his daughter fired the shots in self-defense as a warning, and didn’t know Melton was hit.
Melton remains hospitalized with critical injuries.

Man headed to jail for murder over Hot Pockets
Hot Pockets can get people heated.
An Atlanta man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for a fatal shooting following a fight over the snack, according to news station WAGA.
Prosecutors said Nathaniel Mathis had asked his sister and her boyfriend, Rodney Benton, 34, to get pepperoni Hot Pockets last July using his card.
When the couple got to the store, the Hot Pockets were sold out so his sister called Mathis to let him know.
They tried to buy other food, but Mathis’ card was rejected. She called him back and an argument reportedly ensued.
The couple ended up going home empty-handed, where they were met by a furious Mathis.
“The defendant was home and still upset when he approached the SUV,” the Fulton County District Attorney’s office said.
Prosecutors said that Mathis went up to the passenger side and yelled “you know what’s going on” and shot Benton eight times.
He then fled for a nearby park where he approached a woman with a message for his sister, news station WXIA reported.
The woman told police he said, “I just snapped. I love her and didn’t mean for it to happen this way.”
Authorities were able to track down Mathis in the woods, where he was shirtless and pointing a gun to his head. After two hours of negotiations, police shot him with a beanbag gun and took him into custody.
Mathis was found guilty of murder, possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer and criminal damage to property. He was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison plus ten years.

Army vet tied service dog to tree, shot it 5 times at close range
An Army veteran was thrown behind bars Tuesday for allegedly tying her PTSD therapy dog to a tree and shooting him five times at close range — killing the poor pup for no apparent reason while a soldier filmed it.
Marinna Rollins, 23, was arrested by police in Fayetteville, N.C. and charged with animal cruelty and conspiracy after footage of the deranged incident reportedly surfaced on Facebook.
Court documents obtained by the Fayetteville Observer describe how she teamed up with her boyfriend, Jarren Heng, 25, for the seemingly random killing earlier this month.
The couple allegedly led the white-and-gray pit bull to a wooded area before tying him to a tree and taking his life. The canine — dubbed Camboui, but referred to as “Cam” or “Cammy” — was ultimately shot five times with a rifle as Rollins and Heng, who is still enlisted and stationed at Fort Bragg, took turns filming him.
“Let me hit him once,” Heng can be heard saying in the video.
Throughout the disturbing clip, he and Rollins both laugh and joke about the dog’s brutal death before they eventually dump him in a shallow grave.
“That’s his nerves going,” Rollins says, as Camboui’s body begins to convulse.
She and Heng can also be seen drinking alcohol in several pictures that they took before allegedly killing him.
“It’s been real Cammy,” Rollins says while burying him. “I love you, you’re my puppy, you’re a good puppy. But…”
It’s unclear if the pair had been putting Cambouiout of its misery or whether he was suffering from sort of illness at the time of his death — which took place on either April 16 or 17, according to WTVD.
Camboui was reportedly given to Rollins as an emotional support dog after she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health issues.
In April, the Army vet began writing posts on Facebook in the apparent attempt to find the dog a new home.
According to the Observer, she wrote on April 17 that Camboui would be heading to his new owner soon.
“Sad he has to go, but he will be much happier where he is heading off to,” Rollins reportedly said.
“He’s going to have such a great new life,” Heng replied, adding a smiley face emoji to his post.
A Facebook page, titled “Justice For Cam,” has posted the graphic footage of Camboui being killed, in the attempt to bring more attention to the incident.
“A lot of people are getting upset that this video is posted here,” the moderator wrote Monday.
“You do not have to click play and watch it but let me clarify something. Marinna Rollins is trying to claim that the dog was sick and suffering and that she did this out of Mercy. The video has been shared, to prove otherwise, because we don’t want her to get off easy for the crime she committed. This was clearly not mercy.”
An investigation by Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Cumberland County Animal Control ultimately found that Rollins and Heng had both broken the law when they took Cam’s life. It not only turned up the video, but also several text messages of theirs in which they allegedly discussed the shooting.
“As graphic as the videos are, they tell Camboui’s story, that he was unable to do,” the moderators of the “Justice For Cam” page said. “Many people thought he was going to a new home, and family. These videos prove otherwise, that he was brought out to a wooded area, shot multiple times, and then beaten and dragged to a shallow grave. Like a piece of trash, not a well taken care of ESA. His body is still out there, somewhere in those NC woods.”
Rollins’ bail was initially set at $10,000 Tuesday, while Heng’s was set at $5,000 after his arrest on Monday night. But they were both raised to $25,000 following requests from prosecutors.
“They can be heard on the tape laughing and giggling as the dog was being killed,” Cumberland County District Attorney Clark Reaves said Tuesday night during the couple’s first court appearance.
“It was a therapy dog.”
Rollins and Heng have each been charged with animal cruelty and conspiracy. It’s unclear when their next court date is.

Mom watches as two sons are gunned down in restaurant
A mother watched on Thursday as a man approached the Chicago south side restaurant where she works and opened fire, killing her two sons and two other men in a shooting that police described as gang-related retaliation, media reported.
A lone gunman opened fire just before 4 p.m. local time at the Nadia Fish and Chicken restaurant in the South Shore neighborhood, killing Dillon and Raheem Jackson, who were found outside the establishment when police and rescue workers arrived, the Chicago Tribune reported.
“I can’t go on, my life is over. I’m ‘bout to … kill myself,” their mother told the Chicago Tribune as she wept, still wearing a red apron from her job at the restaurant as her sons’ bodies lay nearby. “I was standing right here in the window, they killed ‘em right in front of me.”
Two other men were found dead inside the restaurant, the Chicago Police Department said in an email to Reuters.
No arrests have been made in the shooting, police said.
The shooting was believed to be gang-related retaliation “from another incident,” an NBC affiliate reported, citing police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
The men were among the nine people shot on the city’s south side Thursday, including a pregnant woman who was found dead earlier in the afternoon in her apartment about a mile from the restaurant, the Tribune reported.
That shooting did not appear to be related to the restaurant killings, the newspaper reported.
Homicides are down about 10 percent so far in 2017 in the third-largest US city after a particularly deadly year in 2016, when there were 60 percent more homicides than in 2015, the Tribune reported.

Driver who mowed down 4-year-old boy gets shot dead after stopping
Police in Ohio are hunting for up to three suspects after a driver who was allegedly speeding down a residential street was fatally shot for striking a 4-year-old boy.
Police said Jamie Urton, 44, was killed after he got out of his vehicle to check on the injured child and an argument erupted between him and onlookers Friday.
“There was some type of confrontation that took place after the accident,” Cincinnati Police Department Lt. Steve Saunders told The Post. “I don’t know exactly what ensued, but as a result of that confrontation, there was gunfire that occurred and the victim was struck several times and was killed.”
No suspects had been identified as of Monday, Saunders said.
The boy’s father, Jamal Killings, told WCPO that his son was released from the hospital with bleeding in his brain on Saturday — one day after the violence on Kenton Street, where police said the boy was hit by a car after crossing into the road.
“My job as a father was to get my son face first off the concrete and take him to see medical attention, and that’s what I did,” Killings told the station.
The car had been speeding at about 45 miles per hour just prior to the crash, he said.
“I initially stopped the car, you know, a lot of kids play on that street — that’s residential, 15-25 [mph],” Killings said. “I initially stopped him. He slowed down a bit and then he kind of like swerved around me, hitting my other son. My son wasn’t hit in the middle of the street. He was hit on the curb.”
Killings apologized to Urton’s relatives, saying he didn’t agree with the apparent vigilante street justice.
“I apologize for your loss,” Killings said. “I don’t condone violence. I don’t teach my kids violence. That should never have happened … an unfortunate situation, unfortunate event, but I hope we can all learn from this.”
Killings said the boy must be monitored closely for the next six weeks and could require surgery due to his injuries.
Witnesses told police that three people were involved in the shooting, WCPO reported.
“I pulled right into it,” witness George Gaines said of the crime scene. “He was parked in the middle of the street.”
Gaines said he saw Urton slumped over into the car’s passenger seat as police responded to the shooting.
“The police pulled out from every place,” he said. “It was crazy.”
A passenger in Urton’s car was also injured by the suspects, but was not shot, WLWT reports. Police said it’s unclear whether the victims were dragged from the car or were attacked after they exited the vehicle.
