Woman accused of faking pregnancy to hitch an ambulance ride home, slapped with $800 fine – Cops: “Should have just called an Uber.”
GREENSBURG, Pa. — Police say a Pennsylvania woman faked a pregnancy to hitch a ride back to her hometown.
Authorities say the 25-year-old called emergency services March 20, claiming she was having a complication with her pregnancy.
The ambulance drove the woman and her male companion from Latrobe to her hometown of Greensburg, where she was placed in a hospital room for examination.
Police say the woman walked out of the emergency room before she could be examined.
The woman gave her name and address to first responders, and police traced her to an apartment where she was hiding in the attic.
Police have charged with woman with theft of services, which carries an $800 fine.
Greensburg Police Capt. Robert Stafford says it would’ve been cheaper if the woman just called an Uber.

Student admits to putting bleach in pregnant girlfriend’s water
A former Pennsylvania college student who was accused of intentionally putting bleach in his girlfriend’s water pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder.
Police at Millersville University said Theophilous Washington, 21, from Washington, D.C., gave his girlfriend a water bottle knowing it had bleach inside, Fox 43 reported.
Washington reportedly offered his girlfriend, who was around two months pregnant at the time, the concoction in his dorm room the morning after spending the night. She allegedly felt a burning sensation in her throat, vomited, then called 911.
The man confessed to putting bleach in the water, and had said previously that he didn’t want her to have the child, LancasterOnline reported. The woman was examined by a doctor, and both she and her now-born child are believed to not have been hurt in the incident, according to Fox 43.

Bay Area McDonald’s Employee Tries to Flush Newborn Down Toilet After Giving Birth at Work
A McDonald’s cashier is facing an attempted murder charge after giving birth to a boy while at work and then trying to flush the newborn down a toilet inside the Redwood City restaurant, prosecutors said.
Sarah Lockner was working as a cashier at the McDonald’s restaurant on Chestnut Street on the evening of Sept. 4 when she complained of stomach pain, according to the San Mateo County district attorney’s office.
During her night shift, prosecutors said, the 25-year-old Redwood City woman visited the restaurant’s bathroom multiple times, to the concern of a co-worker.
When the co-worker entered the bathroom to check on Lockner, prosecutors said, there was blood on the floor.
ockner tried to dismiss the bloody mess and blamed it on a heavy period, prosecutors said.
But Lockner’s behavior had drawn the attention of a second co-worker, who also decided to check on her.
The second employee walked into the bathroom, peered over Lockner’s stall and “saw a newborn baby face down in toilet bowl,” prosecutors said.
Lockner had her hand on the baby’s back, according to the district attorney’s office. The employee then heard the toilet flush.
Police arrived later to find the baby in Lockner’s arms, San Mateo County Dist. Atty. Steve Wagstaffe told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday.
The baby had no pulse and was not breathing, so officers performed CPR and rushed the infant to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, he said.
The infant is alive and in stable condition, but the extent of the baby’s brain injuries was not known, Wagstaffe said.
Lockner claimed she didn’t know she was pregnant, prosecutors said.
She has been charged with felony child abuse and inflicting great bodily injury, along with the attempted murder charge, prosecutors said.
Lockner is scheduled to be arraigned in San Mateo County court on Sept. 18. She is being held on $11 million bail.
Pregnant woman forced to deliver baby after being set on fire by boyfriend
A Maryland woman who was seven months pregnant was forced to deliver her baby after she was set on fire by her boyfriend, according to reports.
Andrea Grinage, 31, was critically burned Friday when she was doused with gasoline on Friday in the bathtub of her apartment in Capitol Heights, outside Washington, Fox 5 DC reported. She was taken to the hospital where she delivered a baby girl. Both were in critical condition.
Despite suffering burns over a large part of her body, Grinage told police what happened and who was responsible. She also warned her mother that the boyfriend was on his way to her apartment to harm her, the station reported. He was arrested before he got there.
“She was very brave,” Prince George’s County police spokesperson Jennifer Donelan said, according to the station. “We want her family to know how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was, critically burned, worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person.”
Police haven’t identified the boyfriend.
Grinage was still on fire as she banged on neighbor’s doors, according to the station.
Neighbors told WRC-TV they heard Grinage and her boyfriend arguing Thursday night.
Grinage’s father told the station the baby was born seven weeks premature and was doing okay.
“She’s hanging in there,” Arthur Grinage said. “She’s doing fine. She’s beautiful.”
Body of pregnant teen found in suitcase on side of road
The body of a pregnant teen from the Dominican Republic was discovered in a suitcase on the side of the road.
Police have confirmed that the remains found Friday were of 16-year-old Emely Peguero, who was five months pregnant, according to People.
Further examination revealed that Peguero had suffered a blunt blow to the head and her uterus was punctured, according to the Dominican Republic Attorney General’s Office. The mutilation to her uterus indicated she had an abortion, which is illegal in the country.
Her boyfriend Marlon Martinez, a U.S. citizen, was arrested after he allegedly confessed to dumping her body in a landfill. He told authorities that he panicked when she died from an abortion.
Authorities searched the landfill and did not find her body.
His mom Marlyn Martinez has also been detained in connection to her death. Before the body was found, she allegedly offered information to police on Peguero’s whereabouts and was arrested.
Authorities took into custody a third person whose identity has not been released.
The Martinez family has reportedly received threats since the arrests.
“While I agree that this is a horrendous tragedy, and my heart breaks for Emely and her family, it also breaks for Marlon, Marlyn and their family,” Criminal Justice Reform Advocate Leyla Martinez told People. “It hurts to see how people are calling for them to be stoned or lynched.”
A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for Peguero’s funeral.

Accused child molester impregnated 10-year-old girl, police say
Nicholas Deon Thrash is facing 10 counts of child molesting.
The victim’s family says the man accused of molesting and impregnating the then 10-year-old girl was no stranger. In fact, he was living with her mother.
The young girl’s grandmother said she met Thrash multiple times and never thought he would be capable of doing something like this.
She described him as polite and helpful around the house, saying he had them fooled.
She says her granddaughter is now 20 weeks pregnant. The grandmother wanted to share their story to let parents know how important it is to talk with your kids, and let them know that they can come to you if something isn’t right.
She says it’s heartbreaking to watch someone so young go through this.
“She’d come out and ask, ‘Can I get my Barbies?’ I said, ‘Of course you can.’ She’s still a little girl that wants to play, and now her whole life has changed. She’s scared, being in that for so long and knowing you have to carry this baby,” the girl’s grandmother told WISH.
The director of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana says conversations with your kids about appropriate boundaries are important and they should be had at a young age.
She said to be cautious of adults who are looking to spend too much alone time with a certain child. She says about 80 percent of sexual abuse occurs in one-on-one situations.
The family has not yet decided whether to put the baby up for adoption. In the meantime, they are in need of maternity clothes for that young girl. She is a size small.
