Ohio man raped now-pregnant 11-year-old girl
An Ohio man is accused of having sex with an 11-year-old girl — who is now pregnant, according to local reports.
Juan Leon-Gomez, 26, was arrested early Wednesday when the child was discovered hidden at his Massillon home, about 60 miles south of Cleveland, the Canton Repository reported.
The suspect’s roommate allowed police to search their home after the girl’s mother filed a missing person report, police said. When cops entered the residence, the 11-year-old was found in an upstairs bedroom closet.
Leon-Gomez was already the subject of an ongoing sexual assault investigation involving the girl, according to the Repository.
He was charged with rape, obstructing official business and contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a child.

Mom claims ‘mean girls’ bullied son into suicide challenge
An Ohio boy was bullied into participating in a suicide challenge, and his mom is demanding that his school punish the “mean girls” who she says goaded him into doing it, according to a report.
The Madisonville Smart Elementary School student was admitted to the hospital Monday after he was discovered with a belt wrapped around his neck, news station WXIX reported.
“A girl saw his friend in the hallway and said you better check on your friend, because he’s trying to kill himself,” his mom told the news station.
The mom — who requested anonymity to protect her son’s privacy — said he was confronted Monday by several “mean girls” in the boy’s bathroom.
The group reportedly bullied her son into a deadly challenge known as “Will you die for your mother?”
It’s unclear what the conditions are in the dangerous challenge — but the boy feared his mother would be harmed if he didn’t follow through, the news station reported.
“Of course, he didn’t really want to end his life,” his mom told WXIX. “He said, ‘Mom, all I thought was being without you, and I don’t want to be without you.’”
He was found coughing and crying with the belt around his neck after attempting the challenge in the bathroom, his mom said.
The child was taken to the school nurse then brought to the Children’s Hospital, where he is recovering from the incident, the news station reported.
“I get a call stating from the receptionist that my son tried to commit suicide in the bathroom,” the mom said, adding that he’s “never tried to do anything like that.”
The school reportedly notified the girls’ parents, but the victim’s mom is calling for administrators to discipline those involved. In the meantime, she said she will not permit her son to return to class.
“The girls are still there and they’re laughing about it,” the mom said.
David Cash, who heads Charter School Specialists, which sponsors Madisonville Smart, said the bullying allegations “certainly are being addressed.”
“The board reviewed the situation with school administration, reviewed all of the actions that had been taken,” Cash said. “All the appropriate actions have been taken by the board at this point.”

Former Ohio judge who brutally beat wife arrested after she is stabbed to death
Lance Mason served just nine months in prison for assault
A former Ohio judge who served just nine months in prison for brutally beating his wife four years ago has been arrested after she was found stabbed to death.
Aisha Fraser’s body was discovered in the driveway of her home in the city of Shaker Heights on Saturday.
Lance Mason, her estranged spouse, was initially taken to hospital after crashing into a police car at the scene and is now being held in custody.
In 2014 Mason punched Fraser around 20 times after the couple argued while returning from a relative’s funeral.
He repeatedly slammed her head into the dashboard, armrest and passenger window of a car and bit her on the face during the attack.
The couple’s six- and four-year-children were in the vehicle at the time, according to NBC News.
Mason also broke Fraser’s orbital bone and left her with injuries so severe that she required reconstructive surgery, according to WKYC.
He was removed from his position as a judge shortly afterwards and pleaded guilty in 2015 to attempted felonious assault and domestic violence.
The former judge was sentenced to 24 months in prison for the assault, yet served just nine.
After Mason was released from prison he was hired in 2017 by Cleveland mayor Frank G Jackson, subsequently serving as the director of Cleveland’s minority business development.
Mr Jackson fired the former judge on Saturday, after his arrest.
WKYC reported that that Mr Jackson sent his “deepest condolences to the family of Ms Aisha Fraser, especially to her children”.
Mason’s earlier conviction bars him from ever returning to work as a judge.
The victim had worked as a teacher for two decades and a Gofundme page set up by the Shaker Heights Teachers’ Association is collecting donations in Fraser’s name.
Proceeds will go to her two young daughters.
The Shaker Heights Police Department said in a statement that the investigation into the teacher’s death is “ongoing”.

Angry driver follows black man home, repeatedly calls him the N-word *Video Here*
A state contractor from Ohio followed a black man to his home, posted up in front of his driveway and then called him the N-word repeatedly — all because he thought the man cut him off while driving.
“You wanna let me know how much of a n—er I am?” asks Charles Lovett, the black man being accosted.“I just want to let you know what a n—er you’re being,” the contractor says, with cellphone video showing the entire confrontation.
“Yeah, I want to let you personally know how much of a n—er you are,” the contractor fires back.
Questioned by Lovett as to why he is making this assessment, the man says: “Because you’re a rude n—er … You cut me off in my lane.”
He then adds, “You cut me off because you feel entitled — because you get everything for free.”
To which Lovett replies, “You feel entitled because I’m black.”
The contractor — identified by ABC 6 and FOX 28 as Jeffrey Whitman — is a white man from Columbus who owns a company called Uriah’s Heating and Cooling. He was driving a work van on Tuesday, which had the company’s logo and state contracting info on it, when the incident occurred.
“I’m glad I got all this information, that I’ll be sending to the state, since you’re a state contractor,” Lovett tells Whitman on the video.
He posted the footage on Facebook Tuesday, along with a description of what allegedly went down.
“So this is happened to me this morning,” Lovett said. “A man followed me from the interstate exit to my house, and then proceeded to berate me with the most disrespectful word to any African American. I wasn’t going to post it, because I felt that I should’ve known and did better in handling the situation, by just walking away and going into my house. But I’m human.”
The confrontation is just the latest example of racism caught on camera — with countless people getting recorded and losing their jobs in recent months.
“Nobody, African American Mexican Puerto Rican deserves what’s been happening to us across the United States here lately,” Lovett said. “This incident is just one of many sadly.”
Whitman has apologized for his racist rant, but he only did so after his company started getting blasted online. He was initially unapologetic.
“I didn’t follow him home,” Whitman claimed during an interview with NBC4.
“The way I confronted him, I confront him as ‘Hey, you cut me off,’” he said. “I don’t know if it makes it right or wrong, all I can say is I grew up with it and not a big deal for me.”
Lovett later filed a police report against Whitman, though it’s unclear if police plan to pursue charges. None had been filed as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.
“I never would have expected it to happen to me,” Lovett told NBC. “But [that’s] the world we live in nowadays.”

Lawsuit Claims CVS Unintentionally Revealed HIV Status of 6,000 Customers in Ohio
CVS Health is being sued for allegedly revealing the HIV status of 6,000 patients in Ohio.
A federal lawsuit claims CVS mailed letters last year that showed the status of participants in the state’s HIV drug assistance program through the envelopes’ glassine window.
The complaint, which was filed March 21 in federal court in Ohio, also names Fiserv, the company that CVS hired to mail the letters. On the envelopes used by Fiserv, the patients’ HIV status could be seen through the clear window, just above their name and address, the documents states.
The letters included the patients’ new benefits cards and information about a mail prescription program.
The companies are being sued by three unidentified plaintiffs, according to the complaint.
The first plaintiff, only identified as John Doe One of Delaware County, Ohio, says he “feels that CVS has essentially handed a weapon to anyone who handled the envelope, giving them the opportunity to attack his identity or cause other harm to him.”
Another plaintiff identified as John Doe Two of Defiance County says he lives in a small town and fears the stigma stemming from the disclosure of his HIV status.
He is also concerned that his “friends and family run the risk of being stigmatized just by being seen with him.”
The third plaintiff says he also lives in a small town in Gallia County, where “everyone knows everyone” and has experienced “significant distress as a result of this disclosure.”
He is scared to leave his home and has “experienced complications and health issues since this disclosure, up to and including just in the past several days.”
The plaintiffs are seeking a class-action suit and a jury trial.
The attorneys claim that CVS failed to announce the breach of privacy data and did not contact all the patients whose status was revealed.
In a statement to CNN, CVS Health said the envelope window was intended to show a reference code for the assistance program and not the recipient’s health status.
“CVS Health places the highest priority on protecting the privacy of those we serve, and we take our responsibility to safeguard confidential information very seriously,” the statement said.
“As soon as we learned of this incident, we immediately took steps to eliminate the reference code to the plan name in any future mailings.”
A representative for Fiserv told CNN the company does not comment on pending litigation.
The Ohio Department of Public Health did not reply to a request for comment Saturday.
Teacher pleads guilty after having baby with student she adopted
A former teacher in Ohio pleaded guilty to charges stemming from giving birth to her student-turned-foster son’s baby.
Laura Lynn Cross, 37, appeared in court Friday on sexual battery charges in connection with a three-year relationship with the male teenager, the Beacon Journal reported.
Prosecutors alleged that she and the then-16-year-old allegedly became sexually involved in 2013 while he was a freshman at Buchtel High School.
Their relationship reportedly became more complicated in 2015 when the English teacher resigned from the school and asked his mother to be his legal guardian.
Cross allegedly told his mom that she wanted to “mentor” him and was granted partial custody, according to authorities.
Under the court-approved arrangement, Cross and the teen moved in together to her Tallmadge home, officials said.
In June 2015, the boy’s mother filed a police complaint about the alleged affair. No charges, however, were filed until authorities learned that Cross gave birth to the teen’s baby in December 2015.
“First of all, she’s a schoolteacher,” the teen’s father, who didn’t identify himself, told news station WEWS-TV. “To get aroused by a child, basically you have to be a sick individual.”
She was arrested in August 2017 on sexual battery charges after authorities obtained a recording of the teen confessing to his father, according to news site MyTownNeo.
“It was a straight failure from the system,” the teen’s father told WEWS-TV. “From the school and definitely from the police.”
Cross is set to be sentenced May 24.

Meal deliverer finds father frozen to death on porch
AKRON, Ohio — Authorities say a 64-year-old Ohio man whose body was found on the front porch of his home by a meal delivery driver froze to death.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday confirmed that Darnell Wilson, of Akron, died of hypothermia.
Local stations report Wilson was a father of three, and grandfather.
His body was found Tuesday by a woman delivering food for the Mobile Meals program. The high temperature in Akron reached just 14 degrees that day.
It’s unclear how long Wilson had been on the partially enclosed porch before his body was found.

Mother left naked toddler in bathroom during dollar store robbery
Ohio police arrested a mother on Tuesday after she allegedly tried to rob a dollar store while her 1-year-old daughter was left unattended in the bathroom, reports said.
According to Fox 8, Mary Waguespack was at a Dollar General in Alliance when she allegedly attempted to make off with nearly $100 worth of store merchandise while her daughter was alone. She tried to flee the scene through the fire exit but tripped an alarm, Cleveland 19 News reported.
The little girl eventually escaped from the bathroom and was running around the store naked during her mother’s alleged heist, according to a police report obtained by the outlet. The girl was eventually “corralled” by Waguespack, 36, Cleveland 19 News said.
Officers reportedly apprehended Waguespack and charged her with petty theft and endangering a child. The endangerment charge was raised to a fourth degree felony due to a previous child endangerment conviction in 2012, Fox 8 reported.
The little girl was reportedly picked up by Waguespack’s husband, whom she was divorcing, while the mother was brought to jail, the outlet said. Child services were notified of the incident, Fox 8 reported.
Drunk dad passes out on lawn while tot drowns blocks away
A Pennsylvania dad faces charges after his toddler son drowned while the man was allegedly passed out drunk on his lawn.
David Gammon, 35, was charged Tuesday with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the death of 2-year-old Anakin Gammon, news station WFMJ reported.
Gammon told police that he had been “sipping” on a Four Loko when he took the tot and his 5-year-old brother outside in September.
A neighbor found Gammon asleep on the lawn after another one of his children came over saying that he couldn’t wake his dad or find the siblings.
he neighbor told police that Gammon reeked of alcohol and had difficulty understanding that his sons had disappeared, news station WKBN reported.
The two boys were reported missing and police found the 5-year-old, who has special needs, a few blocks from Gammon’s home.
But Anakin was discovered unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool about nine blocks away in Masury, Ohio.
Emergency responders attempted to revive the 2-year-old, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The boy’s death was ruled a drowning.
Authorities filed charges against Gammon after investigating the death.
“There is probable cause that David Gammon was reckless in consuming enough alcohol, while caring for his children, that he lost consciousness allowing them to wander from the property” police said in the complaint.

Man allegedly raped his mother after argument over money
A Cincinnati man allegedly raped his 63-year-old mother and broke her neck earlier this year after an argument about money, according to a report.
The 46-year-old suspect, according to court documents cited by the Cincinnati Enquirer, “dragged her around the home, punching her in the face and body” during the brutal attack in March. The suspect also “forcibly raped her” and left his mother with serious injuries — including a fractured vertebra in her neck, bruises, cuts and bite marks on her inner thighs and back, the documents show.
The newspaper declined to identify the suspect — who is facing charges of rape, felonious assault and kidnapping — in order to avoid identifying his mother, a sex crimes victim. Opening statements in his trial are expected to begin Tuesday after a jury was selected in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on Monday.
Prior to jury selection, a prosecutor told Judge Charles Kubicki that the victim ran naked to a neighbor’s house for help after the alleged assault — but was stopped by the suspect, who grabbed his mother and threw her “back over the fence,” a prosecutor said.
The man’s mother later called police when he fell asleep inside the home, where he was still snoozing when cops arrived to arrest him. He told police he couldn’t remember what happened and claimed “he had no knowledge as to how she was injured,” court documents say.
The man was released from jail in March and then returned to his mother’s house and “tried to gain entry,” according to a motion by prosecutors to increase his bond.
The man was blocked from getting back inside by relatives at the home. A judge later increased the suspect’s bond to $500,000 on March 10.
