Naked man found with 41 stab wounds on kitchen floor, granddaughter arrested
PHILADELPHIA — A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in the death of her 80-year-old grandfather after police say she stabbed him 41 times in the home they shared last week because she says he was abusive to her.
Patricia Diocson is charged with murder and possession of an instrument of crime in the death of Robert Girard. No attorney is listed in online court documents.
Police say she initially told investigators she came home Wednesday at 9 p.m. and found her grandfather naked in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor in the city’s Port Richmond neighborhood.
Police say there was a trail of blood leading from Girard’s second-floor bedroom to the kitchen, and there were no signs of forced entry.
Police say she later confessed to stabbing him 41 times.
Man repeatedly ejaculated into co-worker’s water bottles, put semen in her honey jar and smearing semen on her computer
SANTA ANA, Calif. – A California man has been charged with battery and attempted vandalism after allegedly ejaculating into his female co-worker’s water bottles, putting semen in her honey jar and smearing semen on her computer mouse and keyboard, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Stevens Millancastro, 27, allegedly masturbated at his La Palma place of work and put his semen in the victim’s honey jar. The two have worked together since 2014, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim apparently consumed the contaminated honey every other day between Nov. 24, 2016, and Jan. 13, 2017. The defendant also allegedly ejaculated into her water bottle on two separate occasions during the same time frame.
“The victim noticed the water looked cloudy and threw the bottles away each time,” the DA’s office said in a news release.
On Jan. 9, the woman, identified only as “Jane Doe” noticed a third bottle on her desk that appeared to be contaminated with semen and she reported the incident to her supervisor. The supervisor set up a surveillance camera in the victim’s office that day.
The victim sat at her desk on Jan. 23 and touched her mouse, which was smeared with semen, officials said. The defendant was allegedly seen on surveillance video going into the victim’s office before that incident.
Jane Doe reported the incidents to the La Palma Police Department, which investigated. Millan was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incidents.
Millan was charged on Nov. 17 with five misdemeanor counts. He also faces a special enhancement of committing the crimes for the purpose of sexual gratification. Neither police nor prosecutors have suggested any other motive for the crimes.
He faces two years and six months in jail along with lifetime sex offender registration if he is convicted.
Editor’s note: The DA’s office gave the defendant’s full name as Stevens Millancastro (Millan); Orange County jail records show an inmate with the name Stevens Millancastro but no one named Stevens Millan.
11-year-old boy dies after being pinned by 400-pound man
MOUNT ORAB, Ohio — A Brown County man faces charges of reckless homicide after prosecutors say he pinned down his 11-year-old step-grandson.
Donald Martin, Jr., 58, was arrested Friday after the boy’s grandmother called 911 to report the boy wasn’t breathing, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office said
“He came home and he threw a fit,” the grandmother of Dylan Davis told a 911 dispatcher. “Police came here all the time for him and he threw a fit. My husband was holding him down, he got sick and then he just passed out. I don’t know.”
Detectives say Martin stepped in after his wife and the boy got into an altercation. Investigators say Martin weighs between 360 and 400 pounds.
“It appears the 11-year-old was deceased as a result of positional asphyxiation or compression,” Sheriff Gordon Ellis told WLWT.
The victim’s father, Sam Davis, told WLWT that his son was showing stronger anger as he got older.
Davis said his son got along with his step-grandfather and no one expected this.
“Everything was good across the board, this has come as a compete surprise. It’s mind-blowing,” Davis said.
Prosecutors say the Martin kept the boy pinned down for several minutes.

Two 12-year-old boys planned to blow up Queens school with rocket launchers, grenades and land mines
ELMHURST, Queens — Two 12-year-old boys planned to use rocket launchers, grenades and land mines to blow up their Queens school, prompting their arrest, police said Friday.
The children attend Intermediate School 102, located in Elmhurst, according to police. The campus educates students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
A notebook detailing the boys’ plans to blow up the school was located in its gym, police said.
The notes allegedly claimed they intended to use rocket launchers, grenades and land mines.
Officials made no mention of the boys ability to access such weapons.
An unnamed person recognized the children’s handwriting, and police arrested them Thursday, police said.
Both are expected to appear in court Monday.
Mother sentenced to prison for failing to take dying son to doctor for strep throat in 2013
A Canadian mother has been sentenced to three years in prison after failing to take her 7-year-old son to the doctor for a treatable strep throat infection, officials say.
Tamara Lovett, 48, of Calgary, was found guilty in January of criminal negligence causing the death of her son, Ryan, who died in 2013.
“Our children are vulnerable,” said Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Kristine Eidsvik, during Friday’s sentencing. “Lovett’s actions resulted in the senseless death of an innocent child who needed her protection.”
According to CBC News, Eidsvik noted the sentence was designed to deter other parents from failing their children in the same way.
“If your child is not getting better, you are legally and morally bound to take your child to an actual doctor for actual medical care.”
Lovett’s son, Ryan, died in March 2013, just 10 days after he came down with strep throat. Lovett testified that she believed the he had a cold or the flu but never took him to the doctor. Instead, Lovett said she treated him with holistic remedies such as dandelion tea and oil of oregano.
During the trial, evidence was presented that Ryan also had meningitis and pneumonia on top of strep. Doctors testified his infection would have been treatable had he been prescribed antibiotics.
CBC News reported that Eidsvik found Ryan “was completely dependent on his mother for using common sense in treatment choices” and died “an excruciating, unnecessary death.”
During the trial, Lovett spoke through tears about her agony, said she no longer holds the same beliefs and would take her son to a doctor if she could turn back time.
“I can’t begin to forgive myself,” said Lovett. “I hope others learn from my ignorance.”
Rev. Jesse Jackson reveals he has Parkinson’s disease
CHICAGO — The Rev. Jesse Jackson says he’s been seeking outpatient care for two years for Parkinson’s disease and plans to “dedicate” himself to physical therapy.
In a Friday letter to supporters, the 76-year-old says family and friends noticed a change in him about three years ago and he could no longer ignore symptoms.
He says the diagnosis isn’t a sign to stop working but a “signal” to make “lifestyle changes” to slow progression of the chronic neurological disorder that causes movement difficulties.
The civil rights icon also released a Northwestern Medicine letter saying he was diagnosed in 2015 and has sought outpatient care.
Jackson runs the Chicago-based Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. He’s remained a strong voice in anti-discrimination efforts, including advocating for affordable housing, and been a fixture at protests nationwide.
Jackson declined further comment Friday.

Women climb through McDonald’s drive-thru window to assault manager over McNuggets that were never ordered
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Two women exited their car to climb through a drive-thru window at a McDonald’s in Indianapolis and attacked the store manager after a disagreement over chicken McNuggets, police told PIX11 sister station WTTV.
Police officers were dispatched to the Indianapolis McDonald’s on Friday around 3 a.m., the station reports.
The store manager informed police that two women drove up to the drive-thru window saying they weren’t given the chicken McNuggets that they ordered. The manager told them they didn’t order McNuggets, and he reprinted their receipt to ensure they didn’t pay for McNuggets.
The women said they would like to purchase McNuggets, to which the manager responded by informing them they would need to drive around and re-enter the drive-thru line to place the order, police said.
They became angry and began banging their fists on the window and beeping their horn, the manager told police.
The women then climbed through the drive-thru window, knocking over the cash register and a basin of tea, and they started attacking the store manager, according to police. The store manager did not suffer any major injuries.
They then exited the store by climbing back out of the drive-thru window. The women got back into the car and fled, never receiving any McNuggets.
Video of the event was turned over to police and can be seen above.
Alabama Woman Sentenced to Prison After Faking Terminal Cancer, Raising Over $260K
An Alabama woman who duped kind-hearted donors into thinking she had cancer is headed to prison, a judge ordered Wednesday.
Jennifer Flynn Cataldo was sentenced to 25 months behind bars for fraudulently raising more than $260,000 by falsely portraying herself as a terminal cancer patient from 2014 to early May 2017, according to KTLA sister station WHNT in Alabama.
Cataldo pleaded guilty in August to one count of wire fraud and one count of bank fraud for using a false claim of terminal cancer to collect money from family and friends by using two GoFundMe accounts, Facebook, emails and text messages.
One of the GoFundMe fundraisers was titled “Mom has Terminal Cancer Disney Trip,” with the stated goal of raising $4,000 to take her young child to visit Disney before she died, according to prosecutors.
U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town called Cataldo’s crime “reprehensible,” saying in a statement:
“For more than two years she engaged in an elaborate scheme that preyed upon the sympathy and generosity of her friends and family. Not only did she fake cancer to take their money, she used her minor child as part of her ruse and allowed the child to believe his mother was dying. She has earned every nickel of her punishment.”
Cataldo fraudulently collected a total of $264,163 in checks and cash deposited into her personal checking account, according to her guilty plea.
“Crimes like this make good people think twice before they are willing to be charitable, and Cataldo’s conduct could have a chilling effect on donations to legitimate accounts set up for people who are truly in need,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp Jr. said. “It is hard to understand how anyone could ignore the anguish that their greed- or drug-fueled lie brought to their loved ones every single day.”
A government sentencing document states that throughout Cataldo’s scheme, she was spending part of the money she obtained fraudulently to pay for 30 to 40 non-prescribed Percocet per day.
“The fact that we now know that part of the money was going to fund illegal opioids is yet more evidence of how destructive these drugs can be,” said Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. “It is imperative that we confront such criminal activities and that the offenders are stopped and punished.”
A federal judge also ordered Cataldo to pay $79,629 in restitution to her victims.

Fake Craigslist ‘doctor’ sexually abused woman under guise of ‘anatomy research’
PROVO, Utah — A man who police say posed as a doctor on Craigslist, lured women to his office and then sexually assaulting them has been charged with 17 felonies.
Borzin Mottaghian, 34, of Provo, was charged Tuesday in 4th Distinct Court with 12 counts of object rape and two counts of attempted object rape, first-degree felonies; two counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; and attempted sexual abuse, a third-degree felony.
A court hearing is scheduled for Monday.
Mottaghian, who is the owner of the Cocoa and Coffee Company drink shop and the Cafe On Fire Persian restaurant, both located in Provo, is accused of posting an ad on Craigslist looking for women for medical research. The ad stated he would “pay females over the age of 18 $200 to participate in ‘anatomy research’ for the purpose of developing a new ‘medical device,’” the charges state.
Mottaghain claimed to one woman that he was making a new type of catheter and had her undress from the waist down before performing an “examination,” the charges state.
“(Mottaghian) is neither a doctor nor an engineer, and his claim that he is developing a new ‘medical device’ is false and clearly a guise,” prosecutors wrote in court documents.
A second victim who responded to the ad was allegedly told by Mottaghian that he was developing a new type of tampon. That woman was “examined” twice during the same visit, the charges state.
The first woman contacted police a few days later, fearing she had been deceived. Provo police had a female officer go undercover and make an appointment with Mottaghian. After she arrived at his office and he allegedly told her to take her clothes off, other officers entered the room and arrested Mottaghain.
Bail was set at $250,000.
Mottaghian identifies himself as a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and says he earned a law degree from the University of California.
According to a bio on the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) website, Mottaghian played supporting roles in various movies and television episodes, and was the writer, producer and director for a short film titled “Blue Sweater.”
Mother claims 10-year-old son killed himself after she whipped, choked him, police say
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have launched an investigation into the death of a 10-year-old after his mother reportedly disciplined him.
Authorities were called to the family’s apartment on Saturday and discovered Jaheim McKinzie unresponsive in an ambulance. The child was reportedly bleeding from his chest, according to WREG.
He died an hour later at a hospital.
His mother, Robin McKinzie, told first responders she was whipping her son with an extension cord and choking him as a form of punishment when he ran into the kitchen and stabbed himself.
McKinzie’s neighbors are left in disbelief after hearing about the death of the young boy. A close friend of McKinzie’s, who does not want to be identified, says that McKinzie became distant this past year, and she didn’t know why.
“All I can say is that she was a good mother, and her son was her life,” said the woman. “Her son was her life.”
McKinzie is being held on an aggravated child abuse charge and a $100,000 bond.
