Black Panther Could Be The Biggest Black Blockbuster Of All Time

Actors, News & Info

With the release of Captain America: Civil War the hype for Black Panther has shot up immensely.

With his film 2 years away, Black Panther has the potential to be one of the biggest black block busters of all time. Several people have already been cast such as Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan.

Seeing is how Marvel has been on a role with their movies, and the fact that Civil War is about to hit the $1 Billion mark, I believe this will definitely be the biggest black blockbuster.  It is said that the cast will be 90% black which is a plus.

It’s always good to see our people on the silver screen and not just in stereotypical roles. I’d love to see more black super heroes in the future.

Captain America: Civil War Review (Slight Spoilers)

Actors, News & Info

Seeing is how Captain America Civil War is out in theaters all over the country now, people have had plenty of time to see it. With that being let’s review Marvel’s newest movie!

Let me start off by saying that the word “like” for this movie is way too much of an understatement. I LOVED THIS MOVIE! This movie is the best one Marvel has to date. Everyone from Captain America, to Iron Man, to Black Panther were all awesome! Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. did a great job like always, but the two new people who stood out to me in this movie were Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther and Tom Holland is Spider-Man.

I appreciate the fact that they gave Black Panther plenty of shine throughout the movie and gave him amazing fight scenes namely with the Winter Soldier and the airport fight. This has only made me look forward to the Black Panther movie even more! Tom Hollad definitely killed it as Spider-Man as well. Spider-Man’s humor with Tony Stark was on point and he is the best portrayal of Spider-Man that I’ve seen.

The fight scenes are some of the action scenes I’ve seen in a comic book movie. The Russo Brothers definitely know how to film fights scenes without all the shaky camera nonsense. Every person the Spider-Man and Ant-Man fought were hilarious and Ant-Man becoming Giant-Man was a nice touch as well.

As for the villains Crossbones was okay, I dont have too much to say on him since he’s only in the beginning of the film. But as for Zemo while he doesn’t look like his comic counterpart he was a great villain in this movie. His manipulation of the Avengers great and you can pretty much say his plan of breaking apart the Avengers was achieved.

As far as the teams go the movie does a good job of not making everything so black and white. Each person had their own reasons on why they signed or didn’t sign the Sakovia Accords and in my opinion they all seemed valid. But for the most part I stuck with Team Iron Man partially because of Black Panther, but also for another reason, near the end of the movie there was some crucial information the Captain America kept from Iron Man that made me lose points with Captain America.

All in all I give this movie a full 10/10 the action was there, the drama, and the comedy. Would I pay money to see this again? ABSOLUTELY! It was just that good. I cant wait to see future films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and more importantly Avengers: Infinity War.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, get off your butt and go see it now!

Batman Vs Superman Review

Actors, News & Info

As you all know one of the most anticipated Super Hero movies came out this weekend, and that is Batman vs Superman.

While I initially heard bad reviews about this movie, I wanted to see it for myself before I gave my judgement on it. After seeing it myself last night I can say that while I don’t hate the movie, I’m kinda disappointed in it.

To start off, let me first say that Ben Affleck was AWESOME as Batman. I had my doubts about him at first but he definitely proved me wrong in this movie. Henry Cavill once again made a great Superman and Gal Gadot did great as Wonder Woman. But as far as Lex Luthor goes, Jessie Eisenberg wasn’t really the best choice for a villain like Luthor.

Throughout the movie it felt like I was watching a socially awkward nerd on crack than an intimidating villain.

Another thing that bothered me about the movie are the constant cutaway scenes and it seeming like that movie had too many plot points. You have one instance where you’d be focused on Superman than all of a sudden it switched to Batman, then Lex Luthor in plots that didn’t really matter or didn’t really make sense.

Now for the actual fight between Superman and Batman and then Doomsday. The fight between these two would’ve been better if Superman wanted to fight Batman willingly instead of being forced to by Lex Luthor. Aside from that the fight was very enjoyable visually though. As for Doomsday we all know he was there as a way to bring the 3 heroes together to fight the “common enemy” which I do again admit was enjoyable visually but could’ve been executed better or saved for another movie.

All in all, Batman vs Superman is the first super hero movie in a while that walked away from feeling underwhelmed. Would I see it again? I’m in no rush to, but I still say go out and see it to give your own personal judgement on it. For me, out of 10, I give it a 6.

Well there’s my take on it, let me know what you think!

Chiraq Movie Review

Actors, News & Info

What can I say about Chiraq? Other than its one of the best movies to come out this year in my opinion. That’s right I said it, I loved Chiraq!

Chiraq is the retelling of a Greek tale of women who withhold sex from their men until they stop going to war or in Chiraq’s case, stop the violence in Chicago. The movie stars Teyonah Parris, Nick Cannon, Angela Basset, Wesley Snipes, Samuel Jackson, John Cusack, Jennifer Hudson and a lot of other wonderful black actors.

To start off with, the movie definitely delivers its message, which is that the violence in Chicago has to stop. In the movie the female lead Lysistrata, convinces the entire woman population of Chicago to refrain from having sex with their men till the violence stops permanently. With that being said, hilarity and drama ensue and it was fun to watch.

That being said I loved 98 percent of the performances in this movie. I say 98% because in scenes where Jennifer Husdon was supposed to cry, I can literally see only one scene where she cries, every other time it’s a dry face. Other than that I had no other issue with the acting what so ever. It knew how to bring forth a serious issue but bring a little bit of light to a dark situation.

As for the critics, to those who are mad at Spike Lee and the actors who took part of it, why? They’re shedding light on a huge issue in your town. Instead of being mad at them you should me mad at the one shooting up your city and killing innocent people who had nothing with who Evers problems. Check them before you check Spike Lee.

All in all I give Chiraq a 9.5 out of 10. If you haven’t see it see it before it leaves theaters!

Creed Movie Review

Actors, News & Info

With 2015 about to wrap up I feel like I’ve seen all of the movies I wanted to see this year. The last one I saw this year was today and it was the movie Creed. All I have to say is I’m glad this was the last movie I wanted to see this year because it definitely delivered.

The story more or less, is kind of I guess you can say an either direct or indirect sequel to the Rocky franchise. However Rocky isn’t the center of attention in this one. Instead it’s Apollo Creed’s illegitimate son Adonis “Donny” Creed. After being taken by Apollo’s wife played by Phylicia Rashad. Donny decided to take up boxing just like his father. However he strives to make his own legacy and not stay in the shadow of his father.

First off I I have to say is Michael B. Jordan killed this role. In all honesty this completely takes away from that horrible Fantastic Four movie he was in earlier this year. Sylvester Stalone was also great. This movie shows that he’s not just some typical action movie star, he can play dramatic roles if he feels like and he proved it.

Phylicia Rashad and Tessa Thompson did a wonderful job as well as Donny’s adopted mom and girlfriend respectively. As someone who’s seen them in different things such as  The Cosby Show and Dear White People, it’s nice to see them in great movies like this.

All in all I give Creed a 10 out of 10. If they decide to make this into a franchise I hope they keep the same elements they had in this film. If you haven’t seen this movie you’re missing out on a lot.

Evan Peters Speaks On His Role As Quicksilver In X-Men Apocalypse

Actors, News & Info

With X-Men Apocalypse coming out next year, small details about the characters are being revealed. What a lot of people want to know about is the super fast mutant, Quicksilver. In an interview he gave a brief synopsis on the character.

“But the story is that my character is searching for his father and wants to find him. It starts there and then he jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole Apocalypse madness: He tries to stop him from destroying the world.”

As we all know Quicksilver is the son of Magneto so it’s no surprise who his father is. Hopefully we’ll see a lot of interaction between them, or at least have them fighting together.

What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Harold Perrineau Defends Daughter Aurora Perrineau

Actors, News & Info

Well looks like someone’s up in their feelings. Ever since Jem and the holograms cast was announced people were highly upset when the role of Shana, the African American character was cast by a biracial woman names Aurora Perrineau.

Not only has this movie gotten backlash, but this particular casting has gotten a lot of hell as well. The reason why is because instead of getting a woman who actually matches the skin tone, they went for the “lighter and brighter’ method of casting.

But there is one person who isn’t too happy about these comments made about Aurora and that’s her father Harold Perrineau.

Perrineau went on a rant saying people are only bashing her daughter based on her skin color and not her acting skills. He even quoted part of Martin Luther King’s Speech ” I Have A Dream” speech.

He also stated that since a lot of people are up in arms about the casting choice that that should channel their anger in to making characters that match the physical description themselves.

While I do agree about the casting part he should’ve already known what mess his daughter was getting into when she took that role. Black people are tired of the white washing in Hollywood which is why people went so hard at this girl. But then again the movie flopped anyway so I call it karma.

Jem And The Holograms Flopping At The Box Office

News & Info, Trailers

The prediction has some true. For those who are in the dark about this, the movie Jem and the Holograms, based of the 1980’s cartoon was released last night and from the looks of things, its bombing BAD at the box office and in movie reviews.

From what’s been said it’s nothing but a generic girl band movie but plagued with an obsession with social media. This movie unfortunate suffers the same fate as movies such as Dragon Ball Evolution, The Last Airbender, and most recently Fantastic 4.

Ron Chu or whatever his name is needs to be banned from ever directing again since it seems like he can’t follow source material. I seriously wonder how do you make a movie adaption but fail to follow the source material. I understand creative license, but from what I’ve read it’s a complete disaster.

Before I forget there was a bold statement saying this movie would make at least $5 million this weekend but since this movie has only made $34,000 so far I doubt that will happen. Even the new lame Paranormal Activity has made more than this that their ratings are a tad bit worse. So far it has a 22% on rotten tomatoes with most critics ripping it apart.

To the people looking to want to direct in the future, if you do adaptions, make sure you follow as closely as you can to the source material. Trust me it will benefit you in the long run.

Dear White People Review

Actors, News & Info

Although this movie is a year old that still doesn’t mean I can’t review it! I can honestly say that Dear White People was one of the best movies I saw in 2014. It was definitely worth the money.

For those who haven’t seen it, Dear White People is a satirical comedy of the lives of several black students as they go through their daily lives on a predominantly white campus.

The films main character Sam White, a biracial black revolutionary who’s determined to save the college’s only black student housing. Lionel Higgins, a gay black sophomore who dreams of being a journalist but also endures harassment by his dorm mates. Colandera “CoCo” Jones, a girl who I can only describe as the opposite of Sam and Troy Fairbanks, a political science major who has secret dreams of being a comedian.

There was never a dull moment in this movie. All of the characters grab your attention, some you empathize with some you laugh with or at depending on the situation.

This movie also sheds a light on racial tensions between some black and white students at universities. This movie has and will continue to spark dialogues. All in all I give this movie a 10/10 if you haven’t seen it you’re missing out!
