Get Out Movie Review

News & Info

You know a horror/psychological thriller is good when it low key messes with your mind after you’re finished seeing it. What movie am I speaking of you ask, that movie is Get Out which i had the opportunity to see last night.

Before I start my review let me just say, big props to Jordan Peele for writing and directing this movie. I love him as a comedian and the fact that this movie has proven that he is an excellent writer and director not  just for comedy but for different genres as well. I definitely look forward to his future projects.

The movie tells of the story of a black guy named Chris who’s in an interracial relationship with with a white girl named Rose, and they take a trip to her parent’s estate for a big party her parents are throwing. It was during this visit where a lot of discomfort and very weird and creepy things take place.

The movie has a good balance of satire, horror, comedy, and social issues. In this movie instead of the racism being straightforward its more subtle. By subtle I mean that its less of a hatred and more of an envious tone. During the get together scene a lot of Rose’s parents friends remark how great his physical condition and how they envy his youth and physical prowess.  There is plenty of dialogue in this movie but it’s great at grabbing your attention so when the horror begins you’re already deeply invested into the movie.

The acting was great, everyone from David Kaluuya to Allison Williams to Bradley Whitford did great jobs in this movie. Lil Rel Howry is gold as the comedy relief character. The tension was great and there were a few jump scares the were done very well.

On a scale of 1 to 10 i definitely give this movie a solid 10. It’s worth the money to see and I look forward to seeing more of Jordan Peele’s movies, particularly horror movies should he choose to do more. If you have the opportunity, go see it this weekend!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Review

News & Info

Well it’s finally here. The final Hunger Games movie was released this past Thursday night. I myself had the pleasure of seeing it and all I have to say is, it’s worth the money! In my honest opinion this movie definitely had a great send off.

For those who haven’t read the books it definitely keeps you in suspense as to what will happen next. Who will live, who will die, and occasionally who will end up with who.

As for those who read the book it’ll be a treat to see the book come to life one last time.

When you watch it you’ll laugh a few times, you’ll definitely shed a few years and you’ll leave satisfied. At least I think you will.

As for a rating, out of 10, I give Mockingjay Part 2 a 9 out of 10. It’s worth watching and worth money!

The Perfect Guy Movie Review

Actors, News & Info

The Perfect Guy has probably been the most talked about movie all week. I had the pleasure of seeing it yesterday and here’s my take on it.

The movie stars Sanaa Lathan as Leah Vaughn Michael Ealy as Carter Duncan and Morris Chestnut as David King. While the acting is good the movie felt a bit stale to me since I’ve technically seen the same movie earlier this year. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch The Boy Next Door. This movie is basically the male version of Fatal Attraction.

Basically Leah was dating David for a while and when it seemed like David wasn’t ready for marriage she breaks up with him. A short while later she meets Carter and she’s swooned by him. Basically he literally seems like the perfect guy to her, her friends like him,  and her parents like him. Everything seemed normal till he snapped  and beat up a guy at a gas station. After that Leah gets scared and dumps him and the craziness begins.

See what I mean? A male Fatal Attraction movie. I never understood why Hollywood tries to remake certain suspense films and try to rename it something else to make it seem like it’s different. The movie was pretty much predictable. You never had to guess and you can pretty much predict the fate of all of the characters involved.

But like I said while the plot was stale the acting was good. I enjoyed it more than The Boy Next Door at least. On a grading scale from A to F, I give it a D+ and I say D+ since the acting pretty much saved it from getting an F.

Ant-Man movie review

News & Info

This morning, I saw Marvel’s newest movie, Ant-Man. The movie is about a third who is reluctantly thrown into being a a super hero after stealing a scientifically engineered shrinking suit.

Let me start of by saying that I loved the movie ! The characters were great, the comedy was great and the action was great!

Ant-Man is definitely one of those movies that I will buy on DVD when it comes out. The main character Scott Lang is fresh out of prison and you can tell he wants to start fresh and do right by his daughter so right then and there you have something to root for. Not only is he funny but his homeboys are too and Spoiler Alert: T.I. Is in this movie though not as a main character but a very funny secondary character.

Michael Douglas as Hank Pym was great as well. He shows that the the very first scene of the movie. You can tell he was trying his best to the correct the wrongs he’s done and help mend the relationship between him and his daughter.

Now to the villain The Yellow Jacket. He’s definitely someone who you wanna yank through the movie screen and strangle. Especially when you see what lengths he’ll go through to achieve his goal.

All in all, this movie is definitely worth watching! Take your friends , take your family or who ever to see this movie because it’s worth the money.

On a scale of 1 to 5 I give it a 5
