Mom charged with killing baby after admitting she hit him over dirty diaper
A Georgia woman has been charged with killing her 1-year-old child, telling investigators she hit the boy because she was angry that he’d soiled his diaper, according to local reports.
Trinity Pittman of Palmetto, faces murder and child cruelty charges in the death of her 20-month-old son, Conner Perry.
Pittman, 23, took her son to the emergency room on Friday night, telling medical staff he had been injured after falling off a trampoline. The staff became suspicious and reported that the injuries were not consistent with a fall; his abdomen was full of blood and his lungs were filling up with fluids, 11 Alive reported.
Police reportedly said they interviewed Pittman and her boyfriend, Jeremy Davis, 24, and their accounts of what had happened did not align.
Pittman later admitted that she had lied about Perry falling off a trampoline and confessed that she was angry at her son because he had soiled his diaper, the television station reported, citing warrants.
She reportedly admitted to police that she had hit her son several times after he did not obey her demands and at one point, Perry fell on the floor and hit his head after she hit him.
Pittman went to work hours after the episode and left her son and her 4-year-old daughter in her boyfriend’s care, the news outlet reported, saying she also told him Perry had fallen off the trampoline earlier.
Davis later called Pittman and told her that Perry was having trouble breathing and was throwing up, the station reported, adding that Pittman then came home and took Perry to an Atlanta children’s hospital. He died at the hospital.
Pittman has been jailed without bail. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
Pittman’s daughter was placed with relatives.

Cop fired after $500 goes missing from homicide victim’s wallet
An Atlanta police officer has been axed for allegedly mishandling $500 in cash from a homicide victim’s wallet, authorities said.
Officer Keisha Richburg’s body cam footage released by the Atlanta Police Department shows the alleged incident unfolding on June 19th at the scene of a shooting in Marietta Road near the Inman Rail Yard.
The footage shows EMT Kevin Geter tucking the money inside of the wallet of the 29-year-old victim, Jamel Harris, then handing it off to Richburg.
When she handles the wallet in her squad car, the cash cannot be seen in the slot that Geter had allegedly placed the money inside, the video shows.
When “Officer Richburg transfers the victim’s wallet from her right hand to her left hand; it is readily apparent the money is no longer tucked inside the wallet,” a police report on the incident reads.
Geter confirmed to internal affairs investigators that he gave Richburg the wallet with cash inside, according to 11Alive.
“I’m about 90% sure it was money…cause it was – it was kinda like a – you know, like money would be folded in half. Um, and I can’t imagine it being anything else,” he said.
Later, the video shows Richburg handing off the empty wallet to a homicide-unit sergeant at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Harris, who suffered from a gunshot wound to the head later died from his injuries at the hospital. An-Nur Green, 43, was arrested for fatally shooting Harris over of an argument, police said.
“Officer integrity goes to the heart of what we do here every single day,” Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields said in a statement. “It’s extremely disappointing to see the victim of a fatal shooting be victimized twice by the actions of one of our officers.”
An Atlanta Police department spokesperson told The Post that Richburg did not properly account for the money according to the department’s policies and procedures. An administrative investigation was not able to determine what happened to the cash.
Shields fired Richburg on Monday.
A regional director for the International Brotherhood of Police Officers told NBC Newsthat the department hasn’t “proven that she had the money or took the money.”
Richburg is disputing the department’s claim and attempting to appeal her termination.

Woman charged with killing roommate while cleaning gun
A Georgia woman is accused of fatally shooting her roommate while cleaning a gun.
Keely Kilpatrick 26, was still at the Wynhall Drive home in Gwinnett County — about 20 miles northeast of Atlanta — when police responded at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday and found her roommate, Dixie Cowe, 43, with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
Police determined that Kilpatrick had told her mother, who also lived at the residence, that she was going downstairs to clean a firearm when the mom heard a “loud noise sounding like a gunshot,” cops said in a news release.
She ran downstairs to check on her daughter, who “immediately told her that the gun accidentally went off and struck [Cowe],” the release continued.
Cowe later died from her injuries at a hospital.
Kilpatrick and her mother are cooperating with investigators, police said. Kilpatrick was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and remains held without bond at the Gwinnett County Detention Center, jail records show.
Brianna Johnson, Kilpatrick’s friend, told WSB-TV she believes that the shooting wasn’t intentional.
The charges are the latest legal trouble for Kilpatrick, who has been arrested on a variety of charges since 2010, including DUI, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempt to commit certain felonies. Her latest arrest marked the third time she had been arrested this year, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Mom forced healthy 5-year-old to use feeding tube, wheelchair
A healthy 5-year-old boy was allegedly forced to use a wheelchair and feeding tube as his mom collected his disability checks, according to officials.
Teresa Lynne Roth, of Georgia, is accused of faking her son’s illnesses over the course of two years and putting him on 28 unnecessary medications, news station WSBTV reported.
Deputies arrested the mom at her Gainesville home Thursday following a four-month investigation.
“Between January 2016 and October 2018, Mrs. Roth did cause her son unnecessary physical and mental pain by subjecting him to undergo unnecessary medical treatments and medications, jeopardizing his well-being,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Ware told WSBTV.
The child was allegedly strapped to an oxygen tank, used a feeding tube and confined to a wheelchair, officials said.
“It’s messed up, you know? It’s not normal,” Ware told the news station.
Roth faces first-degree charges for child cruelty. She remains in custody on $16,700 bond, according to court records.

Day care worker body-slammed toddler
SMRYNA, Ga. — Police in Georgia say a day care worker has body-slammed a toddler, bloodying the 16-month-old’s lip and shirt.
News outlets report 20-year-old Jonee Nicole Hamilton was arrested Tuesday on charges including child cruelty and aggravated assault. Smryna police says the Oxford Babies worker was upset last week when the child refused to nap and so shoved the toddler’s head into a floor mat.
A police report says Hamilton then picked the child up and slammed them into the mat, busting the child’s lip. Officer Heather Knight says the child was treated at a hospital.
Hamilton passed a background check when she was hired in September. She has since been fired.
Knight says police are reviewing the day care’s surveillance videos.

White woman calls cops on black man babysitting white kids
A white woman reportedly called the cops on a black man she saw babysitting two white children at a Georgia Walmart.
Corey Lewis, who runs a youth-mentoring program in Atlanta, used Facebook Live to film his interaction with a Cobb County police officer responding to the woman’s call about the girl and boy he was babysitting Sunday.
Lewis explained to the officer that he is the kids’ babysitter — that he’d taken them to eat dinner at the Subway in Walmart and then stopped to get some gas — which is when the woman, who’d been following them, approached.
The woman asked Lewis if she could speak to the girl, to see if she knew who he was — and he refused, Lewis recounted to the cop. That’s when she called the cops and then followed Lewis all the way home, he said.
“All because I got two kids in the back seat who do not look like me, this lady took it upon herself to say that she’s going to take my plate down and call the police,” Lewis said in another Facebook video. “It’s crazy … It’s 2018 and this is what I’ve got to deal with.”
The kids, a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, confirmed to the officer that Lewis was their after-school teacher and babysitter.
Their parents, David Parker and Dana Mango, were shocked when they were called by the police to confirm the story, telling local outlet CBS46 that they believe Lewis was stalked and harassed for “babysitting while black.”
“I said, ‘Are you saying that because there’s an African American male driving my two white kids, that he was stopped and pulled over and questioned?’ and he said, ‘I’m sorry, ma’am, that’s exactly what I’m saying,’” the mother told the station.

Man busted for stealing 150 pounds of waffle mix
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — A Georgia man is accused of stealing 150 pounds of waffle mix from a former employer and flipping it to a syrupy stream of buyers.
Peachtree City police spokeswoman Lt. Odilia Bergh told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday that 33-year-old Brandon Lee Nelson is charged with burglary.
Police say Nelson drove to his former employer’s storage facility in August and stole five boxes of Golden Malted waffle batter. Bergh says Nelson then covertly sold it to buyers who contacted him about the stolen dough.
Bergh says Nelson later was identified on surveillance video of the theft and arrested this month. He has since posted bail and been released. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

Duo busted after allegedly selling weed treats at church — including cereal, brownies and puddings
For the love of pot!
Two women were busted Friday on drug charges after one allegedly sold weed edibles at a church in Savannah, Georgia, according to the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.
Ebony Cooper, 28, was reportedly openly hawking various treats — including cereal, brownies and puddings — that contained marijuana at a church event for entrepreneurs, authorities said.
Officials said she advertised the illegal baked goods on social media prior to the event.

Undercover agents bought several items from Cooper then followed her to 26-year-old Leah Pressley’s car, which they searched, according to officials.
The search allegedly turned up a large number of pot edibles, more than $1,000 in cash and a loaded gun.
Both Cooper and Pressley were arrested and booked at Chatham County Detention Center on felony drug charges, authorities said.
Ex-con stabbed his sister 53 times for taking too long in the bathroom
An ex-con stabbed his 15-year-old sister 53 times last month, killing her, because she took too long in the bathroom, a detective testified Monday.
Gavin Henderson, 27, moved in last year with his mother and siblings at the Lacota Apartments in Dunwoody, Georgia, after being released from a Florida prison following a several-year stint for violent crimes. Henderson turned to his relatives because he had no other options, a Dunwoody Police Department detective testified, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
But Henderson soon had alarming physical confrontations with his family, including pulling a knife on one of his sisters and a deadly dispute with another, Keaira Henderson, on June 18 — when he needed to use the bathroom and she apparently wasn’t finished, Detective Jesus Moldonado testified.
“She said there was an altercation about Keaira taking too long in the bathroom, which led to the fighting,” Moldonado testified in reference to a police interview with Henderson’s 12-year-old sister.
Henderson then allegedly grabbed a 10-inch hunting-style knife and chased Keaira outside the apartment, where the teen started banging on neighbors’ doors for help. Responding police officers would later be unable to count the number of times the teen was stabbed, but the medical examiner’s office counted 53 stab wounds in all, according to the newspaper.
Henderson, according to statements he later gave investigators, knew the stabbing would undoubtedly send him back to prison, so he acted as if there was “no turning back” after stabbing his younger sister once and just kept attacking her, Maldonado testified.
With his hands and T-shirt soaked in blood, Henderson later walked to a nearby convenience store and asked a clerk to call the police, saying there had been an “accident,” Moldonado testified. He is now facing charges of murder, aggravated assault and first-degree cruelty to children, the Ledger-Enquirer reports.
Henderson’s family did not attend Monday’s hearing and his attorney did not address the court on his behalf. A judge ruled that prosecutors had enough evidence to proceed in the case and remanded him into custody, according to the Journal-Constitution.
Keaira Henderson, meanwhile, was remembered as an aspiring attorney who attended Alpharetta High School, according to a GoFundMe page created to help offset funeral expenses. The campaign had raised more than $4,700 as of Tuesday.
“Keaira had a way with words but sadly her voice has been silenced,” the website reads.
Teacher allegedly groped teen, asked him to ‘send nudes’
A teacher in Georgia was arrested after allegedly groping a 15-year-old student and telling the boy via Snapchat to “send nudes,” authorities said.
Ryan Harvey, a 24-year-old former orchestra teacher at Woodland High School in Stockbridge, was arrested Sunday on several charges, including aggravated child molestation, sexual battery and solicitation of sodomy, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The alleged victim told deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office that Harvey told him in early September that he was the “only 15-year-old that I would ever f—k with,” according to a sheriff’s incident report.
The alleged advances continued the following month, as the teen told authorities that Harvey would occasionally send him videos of him driving or doing other mundane activities on Snapchat. The teen said Harvey also sent him an image with a heart emoji with a caption that read: “send nudes.”
The teen said Harvey then sent another message saying “that wasn’t for you” before sending yet another that read, “That WAS for you.”
Harvey also asked the boy to stay after school on one occasion to “do the thing” while making a gesture implying oral sex and then sent the teen a photo of himself in November wearing nothing but pink underwear while standing in a bathroom. Later that month, Harvey groped the teen on two occasions, according to the incident report.
Harvey, who was placed on administrative leave after an investigation was launched in November, resigned last month, just weeks before his arrest. He remains in custody without bail at the Henry County Jail and is due to return to court on March 6, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
One parent of a student at the school, meanwhile, said he’s now worried about his son.
“I heard about it this morning and my first instinct was to worry about the welfare of my son,” Darrell Pierce told WXIA. “Because if somebody’s like that around the school and they’re doing what they’re doing with children, then you know, my son could have been involved.”
Harvey, who graduated from the school in 2012, said he was “pretty nervous” to return to his alma mater to teach since he was “not too far removed from my students in age,” he said in 2016.
“Eventually, I want to be a professional orchestra conductor,” Harvey told the Henry Herald. “Having a music education background will definitely help me in the professional conducting world. It’s an out-there idea but one day, I want to conduct for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra or New York Philharmonic.”
