“I Was A THOT” Gabrielle Union Advised A Young Steph And Ayesha Curry To Break Up And Sleep With Other People
Who knew that Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade and Steph and Ayesha Curry were friends? I mean it makes sense considering both of their husbands are or were in the NBA but based on a conversation the two had over Instagram Live this past weekend, there is a history there going back to the 90’s.
Dwyane jokingly shares that his wife was on some different things in 1998.
Dwyane: In 98, you was rollin. She was a thot in 98.
Gabrielle agreed.
Gabrielle: I was! Listen, I enjoyed my life. And that is the exact advice I gave to Ayesha and a young Steph at D. Rice’s 25th birthday party.
The three of them bust out laughing.
Ayesha: It all comes out!
Gabrielle: I was like, ‘You guys, the likelihood of this working out is very low. You should just break up now and have sex with other people.’ I used different language but is that not what I told y’all both?
Ayesha: You looked at me and said, ‘How old are you?…Okay…’
Gabrielle: Precisely because I was a thot.
Dwyane: I apologize on behalf of the Wade family. That’s not who we are anymore.
Gabrielle: Uh…I still might give the same advice.
Given the fact that the two met as teenagers and married in 2011, when Ayesha was 22 and Steph was 23, it doesn’t sound like ridiculous advice. Most people should hold off on long term commitments in their early twenties. But that wasn’t Steph and Ayesha’s story and thankfully they recognized what was best for them and didn’t listen to the well-intentioned Union.
The clip of the conversation, captured by The Jasmine Brand, ended with Gabrielle showering them with compliments about how they’ve remained true to their authentic selves over the years.
Gabrielle: There are very, very few people I’ve met who have been consistent. I mean, I’ve known you guys for well over a decade. There’s a lot of people who talk about faith and there’s a lot of people who talk about moving the culture forward but something isn’t real somewhere. When people are like, ‘Are they real? Are they really…?’ And I’m like, ‘Yes.’ They’re some of the only people I’ve met who have been consistent from the first time I saw them to every time I speak to you guys. Whether that’s me and Ayesha texting each other encouragement like, ‘Girl, keep your head up. You got this.’ And she returns the favor. You guys have been consistent. And I wish more people understood that it is possible to be people of faith and also wanting to move the culture forward.

Terry Crews Apologizes to Gabrielle Union for Defending ‘America’s Got Talent’
Terry Crews has issued a public apology to Gabrielle Union over comments he made regarding the former “America’s Got Talent” judge’s exit from the reality competition series.
“I told @KevinHart4real a while ago, he needed 2 “acknowledge the pain of other people.” Right now I have to do the same thing. I want to apologize for the comments I made. I realize there are a lot of Black women hurt and let down by what I said and also by what I didn’t say,” Crews tweeted Friday.
“I hear you, I respect you and understand you. I am sorry and I am here to support you. I spoke from my own personal point of view without first taking into consideration someone else’s experience,” he continued. “I allowed disrespectful comments directed at me and my family to cause me to react angrily instead of responding thoughtfully. This certainly caused more harm, and it is my hope that I can amend any pain I have caused to those who were hurt by my words.”
The “AGT” host went on to address Union directly.
“@itsgabrielleu, I want you to know it was never my intention to invalidate your experience– but that is what I did. I apologize. You have been through a lot in this business, and with that I empathize with the struggle toward fairness and equality in the workplace,” he continued.
Crews was interrupted by “The 3rd Hour of Today” hosts and asked if he had spoken to Union amid the controversy to which he responded, “I have not. I haven’t reached out, but I haven’t heard anything.”
He then said that his wife told him, “Well if she hasn’t made a statement, why would you?”
You can watch the original video of Crews’ comments here.
It was announced on Nov. 22 that Union, along with fellow “AGT” judge Julianne Hough, would not be returning for next year’s Season 15. Union’s contract was not renewed following several behind-the-scenes incidents and what showrunners described as “difficult” behavior, Vulture reported. NBC ‘working’ with Gabrielle Union after her ‘America’s Got Talent’ exit
NBC says it’s working with Gabrielle Union after she lashed out at the network following her exit from “America’s Got Talent.”
Union reportedly complained to producers about a Korean joke made by guest star Jay Leno — and was distraught to get notes that her hair was “too black.”
Sources also said that show boss Simon Cowell wanted Union to come to him about her issues on set and not NBC.
Furious stars, including Ellen Pompeo, Ariana Grande, and Debra Messing came to her defense — as NBC insiders said they had no knowledge of some of Union’s complaints.
In a statement, NBC, alongside producers Freemantle and Syco, told Page Six: “We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture.
“We are working with Ms. Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.”
