Trump rates his presidency ‘A+’: ‘Is that enough? Can I go higher than that?’
President Trump rated his performance in the White House an “A+” on Sunday.
He offered this assessment during a wide-ranging interview on “Fox News Sunday.” Chris Wallace had asked Trump where he ranks himself among great U.S. presidents.
“Where do you rank yourself in the pantheon of great presidents? There’s Lincoln and Washington. There’s FDR and Reagan. Do you make the top 10?” Wallace asked.
“I think I’m doing a great job. We have the best economy we’ve ever had. We’re doing really well. We would’ve been in a war with North Korea if, let’s say, that administration continued forward,” Trump said referring to his predecessor, Barack Obama.
“So where do you rank yourself?” Wallace asked.
“I would give myself, I would — look, I hate to do it, but I will do it — I would give myself an A+. Is that enough? Can I go higher than that?” Trump replied.
Trump said that had he been “more modified, more moderate,” he wouldn’t have been able to accomplish half of what he has in the past two years. He added it’s important for the president to have “a certain ability to fight back.”
He expressed pride in the Republican Party’s ability to keep the Senate in the midterm elections, and suggested that losing the GOP majority in the House of Representatives doesn’t reflect on his presidency.
“I have people that won’t vote unless I’m on the ballot, OK? And I wasn’t on the ballot,” Trump said.
The current economic boom is overshadowed at times by Trump’s endless controversies. Although the health of the economy relies on far more than a president’s actions, Trump and Obama have both claimed credit for the strong economic recovery, and both contributed to its success.
Whether the topic is politics, business or entertainment, it is not uncommon for Trump to give himself superlative marks or exaggerate his accomplishments. The president told the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward last September that no other president in U.S. history has done as well as he has.
“Well, accurate is that nobody’s ever done a better job than I’m doing as president. That I can tell you,” he said. “So that’s … and that’s the way a lot of people feel that know what’s going on, and you’ll see that over the years.”
Based on polling, the American public does not appear to agree with Trump’s rating of his job performance. Gallup reports that his most recent job approval rating is just 38 percent, while the historical average for U.S. presidents from 1938 to 2018 is 53 percent.
In his 1987 memoir “The Art of the Deal,” co-written by Tony Schwartz, Trump attributed a large part of his success to playing to people’s fantasies, and said that “a little hyperbole never hurts.”
“People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole,” Trump wrote. “It’s an innocent form of exaggeration — and a very effective form of promotion.”

Kanye says he’s been ‘used’ and is ‘distancing’ himself from politics
Yeezy goes.
The outspoken pro-Trump rapper Kanye West complained on Tuesday that he has been “used” and has decided to leave the political world to focus more on his music and design work.
West, who f
amously held a bizarre meeting with President Trump at the White House, tweeted his vision for a better world while announcing his departure from politics.
“My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in,” the “Yeezus” rapper wrote.
“I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!”
West, who went on a pro-Trump rant last month while wearing a MAGA hat on “Saturday Night Live,” tried to emphasize his “actual beliefs.”
“I support those who risk their lives to serve and protect us and I support holding people who misuse their power accountable,” he wrote.
“I believe in love and compassion for people seeking asylum and parents who are fighting to protect their children from violence and war.”
West also ripped pundit Candace Owens for putting his name on a project about African-Americans leaving the Democratic party called “Blexit.”
“I never wanted any association with Blexit,” he wrote. “I have nothing to do with it.”
All The Targets In This Week’s Mail Attacks Have Been Trump’s Worst Enemies
Suspicious packages and pipe bombs have been mailed to several of the president’s favorite punching bags.
Explosive devices and suspicious packages are showing up at the homes and offices of top Democrats, the people who fund them and the press that covers them. Most, if not all, of them have made their way to people and organizations that President Donald Trump despises.
Trump has repeatedly called his followers to violence against the people and organizations that were victimized this week. There were no confirmed motives or suspects by Wednesday afternoon. But his violent rhetoric over the past two years has led one of his biggest enemies, CNN, to ascribe some blame for the attacks to the president.
In a statement Wednesday, CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker said that Trump and members of the administration “should understand that their words matter.”
“There is a total and complete lack of understanding at the White House about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media,” Zucker said. “The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary, should understand their words matter. Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that.”
House and Senate Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer issued even stronger statements, connecting Trump’s rhetoric to the neo-Nazi violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year, as well as to violence against protesters at his rallies and more.
The revelation on Thursday that two more of Trump’s nemeses ― former Vice President Joe Biden and actor Robert De Niro ― were targeted only added fuel to the fire.
On Wednesday, CNN evacuated its New York offices after an apparent pipe bomb and an envelope with white powder were discovered in the mailroom. Several top Democratic individuals received similar threats ― Bill and Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, George Soros, Rep. Maxine Waters (Calif.) and others received explosive devices or suspicious packages in the mail.
All of them have been Trump’s very public enemies. CNN has been the acute focus of Trump’s ongoing war against the media, or what he calls “the enemy of the people.”
He’s called CNN fake news. His family has laughed as Trump supporters angrily call out and threaten its reporters at the president’s rallies. The president has lauded a video depicting him beating up a person with the CNN logo superimposed on his head. Press freedom experts have long pegged Trump’s rhetoric as the begging of violent ends for American reporters. CNN’s inclusion in Wednesday’s terrorist activity was inevitable.

Trump: ‘I am bringing out the military’ to stop border crossings
President Trump said in an early morning tweet on Thursday that he is “bringing out the military” to secure the border with Mexico, calling it a “National Emergency.”
“Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council is right when he says on @foxandfriends that the Democrat inspired laws make it tough for us to stop people at the Border,” Trump tweeted. “MUST BE CHANDED [sic], but I am bringing out the military for this National Emergency. They will be stopped!”
Trump tweeted last week that he would use the military to stop a caravan of migrants from Central America, which has reportedly swelled beyond 7,500, if Mexico did not stop it.
“I must, in the strongest of terms, ask Mexico to stop this onslaught — and if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!” Trump tweeted.
He said Wednesday night at a rally in Wisconsin that the “military are ready” to help secure the border against the caravan, according to NBC News.
The Mexican ambassador to the U.S., Gerónimo Gutiérrez, said Monday that Mexico will continue to work to halt illegal immigration into its country and work with the Trump administration to block the caravan from passing into the U.S.
The Hill could not reach the Pentagon for immediate comment on whether has received formal orders to enforce immigration law.
Last week, a spokesman for the Pentagon, Lt. Col. Jamie Davis, said the military had not be tasked to support those working to secure the border.
“Beyond the National Guard soldiers currently supporting the Department of Homeland Security on our southern border … the Department of Defense has not been tasked to provide additional support,” Davis said in a statement.

Montana Greets Trump With Massive ‘LIAR’ And ‘IMPEACH’ Signs
The president received a less-than-warm greeting from protesters in Montana.
President Donald Trump was greeted with cheers from supporters on the ground at a campaign stop in Missoula, Montana on Thursday. From the air, however, he may have spotted a different kind of welcome.
Protesters transformed some local landmarks into anti-Trump messages, with “LIAR” and “IMPEACH” visible from the air ― and potentially from Air Force One, if the president happened to glance out the window.
Mount Jumbo, which overlooks the city, already had an “L” on it for the nearby Loyola Sacred Heart Catholic High School. Protesters simply added three more letters in honor of the president’s arrival:
Mount Sentinel also received a modification. The “M” atop that peak was adorned with some extra letters to spell “IMPEACH.”
Although Trump won Montana by 20 points in 2016, the rally on Thursday night was held in Missoula, one of a half-dozen counties in the state that voted for Hillary Clinton.

Melania Trump’s Spokeswoman Calls For Boycott Of ‘Disgusting’ T.I. Video
The rapper’s music video features a look-alike of the first lady stripping in an Oval Office mockup.
Melania Trump’s spokeswoman has called for a boycott of T.I. after the rapper released a “disgusting” music video featuring a look-alike of the first lady stripping in a fake Oval Office.
“Like it or not, she is the first lady and this is the White House,” Melania Trump’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, told CNN in a statement. “It’s disrespectful and disgusting to portray her in this way simply because of politics. These kinds of vulgar attacks only further the divisiveness and bias in our country ― it needs to stop.”

The video, which was posted to Twitter by T.I. on Saturday, depicts the rapper sitting at the Resolute Desk while a Melania Trump look-alike wearing an “I really don’t care, do U?” jacket begins to strip.
“Dear 45, I ain’t Kanye,” T.I. tweeted, referring to West’s recent visit to the White House, which he previously slammed as “the most repulsive, disgraceful, embarrassing act of desperation.”

Dave Chappelle stands behind ‘brother’ Kanye West amid Trump endorsement controversy
Kanye West’s highly public endorsement of President Donald Trump has sparked considerable debate, with many perplexed by the rapper’s unyielding support for the polarizing leader — most recently demonstrated during a surreal Oval Office sit-down Thursday.
Despite the controversy, comedian Dave Chappelle is standing behind West, insisting that he “loves” the hip-hop star regardless of his political leanings.
“Kanye’s an artist, and he’s a genius,” Chappelle said during a recent interview on CNN’s The Van Jones Show (which was taped before West’s White House visit). “I think the angle he’s seeing things from is about the division. And he’s not inconsistent with what he’s saying. For instance, a decade ago he was saying he wanted to take the Confederate flag and re-appropriate it.”
He continued, “I’m not mad at Kanye West, that’s my brother. I love him, I support him, I buy his albums. I don’t have to agree with everything that he says, I just trust him as a person of intent.”
But the comedian acknowledged that the “Stronger” performer could do with a bit more restraint, adding, “But yeah, he shouldn’t say all that s—.”
Chappelle’s declaration of support was met with an uncomfortable silence from the audience that had gathered for the taping of the segment.
Chappelle, who can currently be seen in a small but key role in A Star is Born, also shared his experience of living in rural southern Ohio, which is heavily populated by Trump supporters.
“In the name of safety, I don’t tell them anything about that guy,” he explained. “I don’t think I can change anybody’s mind.”
When it comes to his own shocking statements, Chappelle, 45, expressed remorse for comments he made while appearing on Saturday Night Live following Trump’s presidential win — a time when many were expecting some form of comedic reprieve from the entertainer.
“I said we should give Trump a chance because he’s the president of the United States,” he said, “I shouldn’t have said that s—.”
Chappelle’s appearance on the show was part of his endorsement for longtime friend and Governor of Maryland candidate Ben Jealous.

Melania discusses Trump’s alleged infidelities
Melania Trump has more pressing matters on her mind than allegations of infidelity by her husband, she insisted in a no-holds-barred interview that airs Friday.
“I’m a mother and a first lady, and I have much more important things to think about and to do,” she told ABC News when asked whether President Trump’s alleged straying has put a strain on their marriage.
“It is not concern and focus of mine,” she told correspondent Tom Llamas in an interview conducted during her recent solo tour to Africa.
The president has denied porn star Stormy Daniels’ allegations that she had a fling with the future commander-in-chief more than a decade ago — though he has admitted reimbursing Michael Cohen, his former personal attorney, a $130,000 hush payment.
Rudy Giuliani, the president’s current personal lawyer, said in June that the first lady “believes her husband, and she knows it’s untrue,” referring to her thoughts on Daniels’ claims.
But the first lady brushed aside the former New York City mayor’s remarks.
“I never talked to Mr. Giuliani,” she said. Asked why he made that claim, she added: “I don’t know. You need to ask him.”
Melania said the constant barrage of embarrassing stories in the last year is “not always pleasant.”
“But I know what is right and what is wrong and what is true and not true,” she said, adding that the first couple’s marriage is solid.
“Yes, we are fine,” she said. “It’s what media speculate, and it’s gossip. It’s not always correct stuff.”
In her wide-ranging interview, which airs in full at 10 p.m. Friday, the first lady also addresses the infamous jacket she wore as she visited immigrant children along the border with Mexico.
“Let’s talk about the jacket,” Llamas says about the parka, which carried the mystifying words “I really don’t care, do u?” across the back.
“The jacket,” she replies in the snippet, which doesn’t give away details.

Kim Kardashian West: Thanks for Putting Me on Gov’s Radar Says Death Row Prisoner
The death row inmate Kim Kardashian West pushed into the spotlight says he appreciates her support, but adds he desperately needs her to get him the one thing he needs to clear his name.
California prisoner Kevin Cooper‘s attorney, Norman Hile, tells TMZ … Cooper is aware Kim tweeted about him a few days ago, putting his case front and center with her 60 million followers, but says he really just needs one person’s attention — CA Governor Jerry Brown.
Cooper needs Gov. Brown to order new advanced DNA testing … a request that’s been ignored up to this point.
If you’re unfamiliar with his story … Cooper was convicted of 4 murders in the 1980s. He’s maintained his innocence, and even suggested he was framed. A NYT op-ed on the case concluded the same thing.
Kim’s tweet was a direct plea to Gov. Brown, and Hile says Cooper is hoping Kim’s legion of fans follow up, research his case and then write to Brown. For his part, Cooper is going to write a thank-you letter to Kim.
Our Kim sources tell us she has no personal connection to Cooper, and she simply stumbled across an article about him a few months ago. What’s also interesting … her push on his behalf comes just ahead of Kanye West‘s Thursday meeting with President Trump.
The White House says they’ll be talking prison reform, but Cooper’s case would be off the table — it’s a state matter, not federal.
