Trump banned from Facebook indefinitely, CEO Mark Zuckerberg says
Meanwhile the rest of us get punished for other peoples actions
Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said Thursday that the social media giant is banning President Trump indefinitely, marking a dramatic escalation of the conflict between Silicon Valley and the White House after Trump weaponized the Web to help stoke a riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great,” Zuckerberg wrote. “Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”
Facebook’s suspension marked the most aggressive penalty that any social media company has meted out to Trump over his four-year term, a period in which he has repeatedly peddled falsehoods, attacked critics and spread divisive rhetoric online. Twitter on Wednesday evening also suspended Trump for 12 hours, but the company’s first-ever blockade lifted Thursday morning. By evening, Trump resumed tweeting — sharing a video that acknowledged the “new administration” soon to be inaugurated.
The tech giants each took the rare aggressive steps after a violent mob stormed the House and Senate Wednesday, forcing lawmakers into a lockdown and briefly interrupting their formal process to certify Joe Biden as the next president of the United States. In failing to act until after the deadly riot occurred, Facebook, Twitter and Google-owned YouTube have faced sharp criticism saying they should have done more, and sooner, to stop Trump from helping provoke the situation.
Twitter, Facebook lock Trump’s accounts amid D.C. riots
“While I’m pleased to see social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube take long-belated steps to address the President’s sustained misuse of their platforms to sow discord and violence, these isolated actions are both too late and not nearly enough,” Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.) said in a statement. “Disinformation and extremism researchers have for years pointed to broader network-based exploitation of these platforms.”
Critics also noted that the moves by tech companies appeared politically expedient, coming as Democrats take full control of Congress and Trump prepares to depart the White House in 13 days.

Federal authorities expected to erect ‘non-scalable’ fence around White House
Federal authorities are expected to put back into place a “non-scalable” fence around the entire perimeter of the White House on Monday as law enforcement and other agencies prepare for possible protests surrounding the election, a source with knowledge of the matter confirmed to CNN.
The fence, the same type that was put up during protests this summer, will encompass the Ellipse and Lafayette Square. It will go down 15th Street to Constitution Avenue and then over to 17th Street. The fence will then run up to H Street and across by Lafayette, and then come down 15th Street, the source said. NBC News was first to report the new fencing. A Secret Service spokeswoman declined to comment to CNN, saying the agency does not comment on security measures.
The extra layer of security marks the most high-profile example to date of authorities preparing for unrest following this year’s election, particularly if there is no clear winner come November 4. As CNN previously reported, the immediate perimeters around the White House have already been largely blocked off to the public this year for a range of reasons, from construction on the White House gate, to protests and looting that occurred in downtown Washington in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.
Lafayette Park, across the street from the north side of the White House and a popular protest gathering spot, had also largely been fenced-in since police aggressively moved in on protesters alongside it in July.
Washington, DC, Metro Police Chief Peter Newsham warned the District’s City Council last month there was wide expectation of some type of civil unrest following the election. And many businesses in the downtown DC area in the proximity of the White House have boarded up doors and windows in the last couple of days in anticipation of possible protests. During this past summer, some businesses saw their windows smashed and other property damaged by protesters.
But DC Metro police have been preparing its officers for well over a year, as it does ahead of every general election, ensuring that they are prepared to handle everything from civil disturbance to crowd control to potential disruptions to metro transit, Patrick Burke, executive director of the Washington, DC, Police Foundation, previously told CNN.
Police have also been working with intelligence officials to ensure the security of Washington, DC’s airspace in the event of an attack from above, Burke added, as they routinely do when preparing for moments of heightened anxiety.
“If there’s no winner, you will see significant deployments of officers at all levels across the capital,” said Burke. “Officers will get cancellations of days off, extensions of shifts and full deployments of officers across the city.”

Trump’s positive Covid-19 test throws country into fresh upheaval
Here’s what happens when you’re arrogant #WETRIEDTOTELLYA
CNN)A country already unnerved by a devastating health catastrophe and a turbulent political season faced fresh upheaval Friday as Americans awoke to news President Donald Trump had contracted coronavirus. The President made the announcement on Twitter at nearly 1 a.m. ET on Friday and the development — after months of debilitating losses, set against a badly mismanaged federal response overseen by a commander-in-chief who repeatedly downplayed the crisis — threw fresh turmoil into the country’s leadership at a moment of deep national strain. In his announcement, Trump insisted: “We will get through this TOGETHER!” His wife, who also tested positive, wrote, “We are feeling good.”READ: Trump’s doctor releases statement after President and first lady test positive for Covid-19
But the optimistic outlook could hardly veil the pervading sense of destabilization setting in as the country struggles to emerge from a generation-defining crisis just as its politics seem to deteriorate to new lows. Stock market futures tumbled. Inside the White House, aides described a sense of panic as they worked to determine who else may have contracted the disease and whether the President — who falls squarely within the highest risk category for serious complications and who has been guarded about revealing details of his health — was displaying symptoms. The first couple’s positive diagnosis has also made staff at the White House Executive Residence, where the Trumps are currently isolating, “nervous,” a source familiar told CNN. In light of the President’s positive test, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, who shared a stage with Trump in their first debate Tuesday, is expected to get tested for coronavirus Friday morning, according to a source familiar with his plans.

Angela Stanton is Shocked President Donald Trump Pardoned!
Donald Trump released a long list of surprising pardons this week, from former San Francisco 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. to the former New York City police Commissioner Bernard Kerik.
The 11 individuals pardoned included convicted white-collar criminals and the former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, who was accused of attempting to sell Barack Obama’s U.S. Senate seat.
House Republicans from Illinois were extremely disappointed in Blavojevich’s commutation, issuing a joint statement that read in part, “We are disappointed by the president’s commutation
of Rod Blagojevich’s federal sentence. We believe he received an
appropriate and fair sentence, which was the low-end of the federal
sentencing guidelines for the gravity of his public corruption
convictions. Blagojevich is the face of public corruption in Illinois.”
There was also one pardon that some did not see coming, Angela Stanton.
In 2007, she served a 6-month home confinement sentence for her role in
a stolen-vehicle ring. Yesterday, she received a presidential pardon
from Trump.
Stanton, who is mentored by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece and diehard Trump supporter Alveda King, told conservative site Newsmax ,“I just started hyperventilating right at the airport. I was just crying like a baby. People thought someone had died.”
She continued, “I just had to sit there for a minute to digest it all. I
always said that when I left this world, that would still be on my
record. I just wanted to finally, truly be free. Today, hours before my
birthday, it has happened for me … and I’m still in absolute disbelief,
I’m in shock.”
In Newsmax, King, who is descrived as an “evangelist and
pro-life warrior,” admitted to talking with Trump about Staton. King
claims she told Trump after he signed the pardon, “Wow, you really make
promises, then you keep them.”
Angela Stanton also appeared on TMZ Live and bizarrely criticized
President Barack Obama’s Fair Sentencing Act, claiming that is a reason
why people were “left behind” in prison. The 2010 Fair Sentencing Act was widely praised and reduced the imposition of mandatory minimum
sentences and eliminated the mandatory minimum sentence for simple
possession of crack cocaine.

Universal will release controversial ‘Hunt’ film in March
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Universal Pictures said Tuesday that it will release the social satire “The Hunt,” a film it canceled in the wake of criticism about its premise of “elites” hunting people for sport in red states.
A trailer announcing the film’s March 13 release date presents the “elites” hunting regular people as a conspiracy theory. Star Hilary Swank says at one point that “it wasn’t real” amid images of shootings, explosions and other violence.
The trailer includes the line, “The most talked about movie of the year is one nobody’s seen yet.”
In August, Universal Pictures canceled a September release for “The Hunt” after criticism, including from President Donald Trump. The president, without mentioning the film by name, said it was intended “to inflame and cause chaos.”
The cancellation came after the studio had already paused the ad campaign for the R-rated film in the wake of mass shootings in Texas, Ohio and California.
The film features 12 strangers who awake in a clearing who don’t yet know they’ve been chosen for The Hunt, but one of them manages to turn the table on the pursuers, a synopsis released Tuesday stated.
“The Hunt,” produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, stars Oscar winner Swank and Betty Gilpin, and is directed by Craig Zobel. It was written by Damon Lindelof and his “Watchmen” collaborator Nick Cuse.
News of the film’s release was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Trump warns Iranian supreme leader who called him a ‘clown’ to be ‘very careful with his words’
President Donald Trump fired back Friday evening at Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who earlier had mocked him as a “clown” – then in a subsequent tweet Trump said Iran’s leaders “should abandon terror and Make Iran Great Again!”
“The so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ of Iran, who has not been so Supreme lately, had some nasty things to say about the United States and Europe,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Their economy is crashing, and their people are suffering. He should be very careful with his words!”
Trump tweeted hours after Khamenei called him a “clown” who will “push a poisonous dagger” into Iran’s back.
In a rare public address as he led Friday prayers in Tehran, Khamenei also defended Iran’s military after it mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane.
Khamenei also condemned Trump and the U.S. for the deadly drone strike against a top Iranian general.
“The villainous U.S. government repeatedly says that they are standing by the Iranian people. They lie,” Khamenei said. “If you are standing with the Iranian people, it is only to stab them in the heart with their venomous daggers.”
In another post Friday evening, Trump later tweeted a message to Iranian citizens, including a riff on his 2016 campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
“The noble people of Iran—who love America—deserve a government that’s more interested in helping them achieve their dreams than killing them for demanding respect,” he said. “Instead of leading Iran toward ruin, its leaders should abandon terror and Make Iran Great Again!”
Trump also tweeted out that message in Farsi.

Billie Eilish says she believes Trump will be reelected: ‘Some people just love horrible people’
Singer Billie Eilish reportedly said she thinks President Trump will likely be reelected in 2020 and said it makes her “heart break.”
The 17-year-old singer, who will be able to vote for the first time next year, said she plans to stay engaged politically, The Los Angeles Times reported.
“I’m pretty worried about [2020],” she said. “I think stupid Trump is probably going to get reelected, and that makes my heart break. You know, some people just love horrible people. It’s weird.”
She told The Times she plans to do her research and isn’t sure how she’ll vote in 2020 yet, “but I think it’s so funny when a lot of adults think that they know what’s right.”
Eilish said she’s registering voters and including eco-activism booths at every show on her national tour to help get young people involved.
Eilish has been dubbed an “anti-pop singer” who writes provocative music like “bury a friend,” “ocean eyes” and her most recent anti-smoking song “xanny.”

Kid Rock Slams Taylor Swift for Being a Democrat, Accuses Her of Sleeping Her Way Through Hollywood
Kid Rock came out of nowhere on Friday morning to attack Taylor Swift for her political beliefs and accuse her of using sex to get famous.
It’s unclear what sparked Rock’s Twitter attack (he hardly ever tweets) but he did not mince words when it comes to his feelings about Swift.
“Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies….period,” he wrote. And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”
He signed the tweet to make sure you know it definitely came from him.
In her recent interview with Vogue, Swift talked about why she did not come out and endorse a candidate in the 2016 presidential election.
“Unfortunately in the 2016 election you had a political opponent who was weaponizing the idea of the celebrity endorsement,” she said. “He was going around saying, ‘I’m a man of the people. I’m for you. I care about you.’ I just knew I wasn’t going to help. Also, you know, the summer before that election, all people were saying was, ‘She’s calculated. She’s manipulative. She’s not what she seems. She’s a snake. She’s a liar.’ These are the same exact insults people were hurling at Hillary. Would I be an endorsement or would I be a liability? ‘Look, snakes of a feather flock together. Look, the two lying women. The two nasty women.’ Literally millions of people were telling me to disappear. So I disappeared. In many senses.”
Rock, on the other hand, has been very outspoken about his support for President Donald Trump.
He attended the signing of H.R. 1551, better known as the “Orrin G. Hatch-Bob Goodlatte Music Modernization Act” in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in October 2018.
Rock went out of his way to praise Trump during the signing, saying, “I’d just like to bring it up that there’s a whole lot of people in this country that do give you a lot of credit for everything you’ve been doing for this country. That we know that some people don’t give it to you as much as maybe they should sometimes.
