Fast-food worker laced child’s burger with ecstasy
She took “happy” meals to a whole new level.
A fast-food worker in Texas was busted for lacing a 4-year-old’s hamburger with ecstasy that the poor boy thought was candy, according to reports.
The kid’s older sister found the pill between the buns of the Sonic Drive-In kids meal burger Thursday night in Taylor and told their parents, according to ABC 13.
“When she opened the wrapping, she noticed a pill. Being an 11-year-old, she asked her parents if this was candy,” Taylor Chief of Police Henry Fluck said, according to the local station.
Their parents took the meal to the police station, where a lab test revealed that it tested positive for MDMA, the drug’s active compound, according to the station.
Tanisha Dancer, 30 — who was allegedly caught with three more pills — was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and endangering a child, according to the report.
She was booked at the Williamson County Jail and has since been fired, according to FOX 8.
Restaurant employees Jonathan Roberson, 35, and Jose Molina, 22, were charged with possession of marijuana.

Autistic teen’s body found in feces-filled room in parents’ house
A “severely autistic” woman weighed 45 pounds when her body was found locked in a feces-filled room in Southern California around seven months ago, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Authorities found the body of Kaylina Anderson, 18, on March 10 in a home in Mesa Verde in the most southeastern part of California, near the Arizona border.
Her stepfather, Steven Williams, 40, and mother, Jill Williams, 36, were both charged with murder, the Desert Sun of Palm Springs reported.
Anderson’s body was found in a room containing only an air mattress with “feces found everywhere,” Lisa DiMaria, a Riverside County deputy district attorney, told the paper.
“It appears she was confined to the room 24 hours a day,” DiMaria said.
Her parents were arrested March 14 and were being held on $1 million bail each at the Riverside County Jail, Palm Springs’ KESQ-TV reported.
The couple was also charged with abuse of a dependent adult and child endangerment, Palm Springs’ KMIR-TV reported.
Investigators said in March that the victim suffered “severe mental disabilities requiring her to have full-time care and supervision,” the Desert Sun reported.
“Due to her diminished physical appearance and substandard living conditions, investigators from the Blythe Station and the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told KMIR.
Three boys no older than 6 also lived at the home, the report said. They were placed into the custody of Riverside County Child Protective Services.
DiMaria said the boys did not have any visible bruises or injuries, according to the paper.
A GoFundMe campaign called “Justice for Kaylina Anderson” was set up in her memory to lay her to rest.

Toddler handed cops drugs after mom was pulled over
A 3-year-old girl got her mother and a friend into hot water during an upstate traffic stop — when she handed a state trooper drugs and paraphernalia, police said Monday.
The child was in the backseat of a 2000 Saturn when it was pulled over by cops during an “occupant-safety” checkpoint on Route 32 in New Scotland just south of Albany on Thursday afternoon, according to New York State Police.
The front-seat occupants — 26-year-old driver Scott Hill and the little girl’s mom, Megan Karl, 33 — were observed making suspicious movements, police said. When they rolled down their windows, cops could smell burning marijuana, police said.
As one trooper interviewed Hill, another checked on the child, according to the troopers.
That’s when the child — who was not properly secured — reached under the front seat and pulled out a pouch, police said. She opened it up to show the officer what was inside — marijuana, a metal marijuana grinder and a pipe, both of which had remnants of the drug, police said.
Cops also found an ashtray in the front seat containing marijuana cigarette butts, police said.
The drugs and paraphernalia apparently belonged to Hill, according to police.
Hill and Karl were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Hill was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
The girl was taken into the care of relatives, and child-protective services was notified of the incident.

Man testified he chopped up wife’s body to keep his children
OLATHE, Kan. — A man testified Tuesday that he spent about eight hours cutting up his wife’s body after she died at a Missouri hotel because he was afraid authorities would take away his children.
Justin Rey, 36, said protecting his family was the reason he didn’t call for medical help after his wife delivered a baby at the hotel in October and afterward when she killed herself, The Kansas City Star reported. Investigators later found Rey with his newborn and 2-year-old daughter, along with bags of body parts, at a storage shed in Lenexa, Kansas.
Rey is not charged in his wife’s death, but faces child endangerment charges in Kansas and Missouri and is charged with abandonment of a corpse in Missouri. He took the unusual step of testifying at his preliminary hearing in Kansas, with defense attorney Zane Todd saying Rey wanted to correct some witness testimony. After Tuesday’s hearing, a not guilty plea was entered for Rey to Johnson County, Kansas, charges of two counts of aggravated child endangerment and two counts of contributing to a child’s misconduct.
“It’s something I had to do,” Rey testified. “My family is very dear to me. It’s something I had to do to protect my family.”
One officer who met Rey at the storage unit said the 2-year-old appeared unhealthy and “almost looked like she had cancer.” The baby had a serious eye infection, according to several witnesses. The children were put in protective custody.
Rey has said in the past that his wife died in childbirth, but Lenexa police detective Shannon Murphy testified that Rey told her his wife had killed herself. After having his children pose for photographs with her body, Rey said he “skinned her like a fish,” Murphy testified. Murphy said Rey flushed body parts that would not fit in containers down the toilet.
Deputy Johnson County Coroner Charles Glenn testified that “a number” of stab wounds were found on some parts of Jessica Rey’s body but that it wasn’t possible to tell whether the injuries were inflicted before or after she died.
Rey told the court that he and the children had not been living at the storage locker, as witnesses said, but had been there for only about 11 hours while preparing to travel to Arizona, where he said he intended to give his wife a proper burial. He also said his children were well cared for.
“I didn’t endanger my children,” he testified. “My children were perfectly healthy.”
Rey also denied flushing anything but a placenta down the toilet.
His trial on the Kansas charges was scheduled for Nov. 5.

Teen babysitters accused of tormenting baby with Taser (News clip with actual video)
Three teen babysitters are accused of tormenting a baby girl in their care with a Taser in videos posted to Snapchat, according to reports.
Police in Conway, Arkansas, said the teen girls were arrested for child endangerment Monday in connection to the horrifying footage, news station KXXV reported.
In one clip, one of the babysitters reportedly pretended to prod the 1-year-old girl with a Taser as the child screamed.
Another video showed a teen slapping the baby in the back of the head. “She’s a bully but I’m dying,” the clip was captioned.
The baby’s mother, Elyssia Watkins, said she’s disturbed by the footage of her young daughter.
“I couldn’t even stay at work today,” Watkins said. “I just keep thinking about it. Why do they think it’s a laughing matter?”
The babysitters — whose ages range from 15 to 17 years old — appeared Tuesday in Faulkner County Court on child endangerment charges.
“They do need to go to jail, but I hope someone really talks to them and they get some counseling,” Watkins told KXXV.

11 children sickened after eating feces, cereal off floor of home
WARREN, Mich. — A suburban Detroit mayor says children were eating feces and cereal off the floor of a home where 11 were sickened.
Warren Mayor Jim Fouts said Tuesday that some of the children suffered from malnutrition and were grossly underweight.
Warren Fire Commissioner Skip McAdams says an aunt took three children to a hospital Monday after they suffered vomiting, disorientation and weakness. McAdams says eight other children under the supervision of a 10-year-old also were transported to hospitals.
Warren Police Chief William Dwyer says only one child, a baby, remains hospitalized Tuesday, in stable condition.
Dwyer says police have turned the case over to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.
Fouts says the 11 children belong to two mothers.

Priest accused of groping teen, calling her ‘sexy’ indicted
MORRISTOWN, N.J. — A recently ordained Roman Catholic priest accused of groping a 13-year-old girl under her skirt last summer has been indicted on criminal sexual contact and child endangerment charges.
Morris County prosecutors say the Rev. Marcin Nurek touched the girl’s buttocks over her underwear and told her she was “sexy.” The indictment was recently handed up by a county grand jury.
The 37-year-old priest was put on administrative leave by the Diocese of Paterson following his Aug. 3 arrest. He is an emigrant from Poland and was ordained into the priesthood in July.
Nurek’s lawyer, William Ware, declined comment on the indictment on Monday.

FedEx worker helps rescue child left alone in rat-infested hellhole
A 5-year-old boy — left home alone inside a rat-infested Bronx apartment — was rescued Friday after he was discovered by a FedEx deliveryman, law enforcement sources said.
The boy’s parents, Wilfred Lewis, 59, and Charlotte Lewis, 48, were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child after cops discovered the kid in the apartment filled with feces, trash, bedbugs and maggots, sources said.
The deliveryman needed a signature on a package and knocked on the family’s door, which the little boy answered, sources said.
The FedEx man asked where his parents were and the boy responded, “They’re not home,” before the deliveryman flagged down nearby cops for help, sources said.
The mom, a nurse at Montefiore Medical Center, was arrested at work, authorities said.
The father, who claimed his 5-year-old son was “self-sufficient,” surrendered at the 50th Precinct station house, sources said.
The boy’s siblings — two girls, 12 and 13, and a 15-year-old deaf boy — were in school at the time.
City child-welfare agents took the kids to Montefiore for evaluation.
The apartment reeked of human feces and a look inside the apartment — through the drilled-out door knob — showed trash strewn throughout the unit.
The family has had previous contacts with the Administration for Children’s Services, sources said.

Mother left naked toddler in bathroom during dollar store robbery
Ohio police arrested a mother on Tuesday after she allegedly tried to rob a dollar store while her 1-year-old daughter was left unattended in the bathroom, reports said.
According to Fox 8, Mary Waguespack was at a Dollar General in Alliance when she allegedly attempted to make off with nearly $100 worth of store merchandise while her daughter was alone. She tried to flee the scene through the fire exit but tripped an alarm, Cleveland 19 News reported.
The little girl eventually escaped from the bathroom and was running around the store naked during her mother’s alleged heist, according to a police report obtained by the outlet. The girl was eventually “corralled” by Waguespack, 36, Cleveland 19 News said.
Officers reportedly apprehended Waguespack and charged her with petty theft and endangering a child. The endangerment charge was raised to a fourth degree felony due to a previous child endangerment conviction in 2012, Fox 8 reported.
The little girl was reportedly picked up by Waguespack’s husband, whom she was divorcing, while the mother was brought to jail, the outlet said. Child services were notified of the incident, Fox 8 reported.
Mom Stuffs Newborn Into Duffel Bag After Baby Tests Positive for Meth Following Childbirth
A Merced woman faces child endangerment charges after she allegedly stuffed her newborn into a duffel bag and kidnapped the baby from a hospital in Fresno, according to reports.
Police say 35-year-old Stephanie Belden didn’t want her newborn baby to be taken away after testing positive for meth during childbirth on Aug. 17, the Merced Sun-Star reported. Police met with her three hours prior to let her know the child was going to be detained.
“The biological mother wasn’t very happy with that, went back up, made her way into the maternity ward and cut off the alarm bracelet off the newborn baby, put the newborn baby in a duffel bag and walked out of the hospital,” Fresno Police Department Lt. Jay Struble told Fresno television station KFSN.
A nurse noticed the child was missing around 7:30 p.m. and officers were called at 7:36 p.m. Belden was arrested at 7:58 p.m. after police found her “hiding” at her house.
She is charged with kidnapping, child stealing, child endangerment and a parole violation.
