UCLA Gymnast Goes Viral for Incredible Beyoncé Routine 1 Year After Former Teammate Katelyn Ohashi
Nia Dennis is wowing the internet with her sensational floor routine, set to a powerful medley of Beyoncé hits
Move over Beyoncé, the internet is getting in formation for Nia Dennis’ sensational performance.
After the UCLA Bruins gymnast wowed the juges at a NCAA women’s collegiate gymnastics meet last weekend, her floor routine — set to a powerful medley of Beyoncé hit songs — went viral.
The college junior — who has made air-signing her name part of her signature stand-out floor choreography — took things to the next level with her one-of-a-kind Beyoncé mashup.
A homecoming performance that would make @Beyonce proud! @DennisNia made us lose our breath with her 9.975 on floor exercise last weekend in Pauley.

Featuring orchestral versions of hits like “Crazy in Love,” “Ego,” and even Destiny Child’s “Lose My Breath,” Dennis commanded the floor, mixing her stunts with some of the Grammy-winner’s famous dance moves.
The gymnast kicked off her routine with a powerful strut across the floor, mimicking Beyoncé’s famous 2018 Coachella stage dancers. As the routine continued — in between round-offs and jumps — Dennis can be seen doing the singer’s signature “Single Ladies” shuffle while incorporating traditional stepping movements.
The 21-year-old —who celebrated her milestone birthday Sunday night — also creatively threw in the dab move and ended her routine by confidently placing an invisible crown on her head.
Dennis earned a 9.975 score out of 10.0 for her routine and was the first of three members of her team to achieve that high score for the Bruins, ESPN reported.
And while the Beyoncé-loving gymnast was just short of a perfect score, her teammate, senior Grace Glenn, made history as the first NCAA gymnast to land a perfect 10.0 as the leadoff member of the UCLA team, according to ESPN.
Dennis and her team’s viral and history-making routines come a year after former teammate Katelyn Ohashi broke the internet with her own perfect 10-scoring floor routine.
Last January, Ohashi’s electric routine featured impressive passes and flips and was soundtracked by upbeat music like Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary,” Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September,” and The Jackson 5’s “ABC.”
The recent college graduate previously told PEOPLE she knew her routine was going well at the time, but she wasn’t thinking about her score.
“I would have never guessed I have like senators reposting me,” she previously said, referencing the likes of California Senator Kamala Harris. “It’s just crazy and honoring.”

Kim Kardashian Copies Beyonce Again
Kim Kardashian is arguably one of the most famous women in the world. When Keeping Up With the Kardashians first premiered back in 2007, Kardashian was pretty much the only relevant sister. She set the stage for the rest of her family to become famous, and a dozen years later, it seems the Kardashians are everywhere. But some think she’s taking on a new image that greatly resembles Beyoncé’s — and to fans, Kardashian’s recent Vogue Arabia cover only proves it.
Kardashian has taken a step back from modeling
When Kardashian first rose to fame, she was frequently modeling for various high-end brands. It helped her make millions of dollars before any of her siblings caught up. But in recent years, she’s taken a step back from modeling to focus on other parts of her career. She recently launched KKW Beauty, a makeup line that originally focused on contour kits. She married Kanye West in 2014, and the two have four kids together, all of whom have become another major priority for Kardashian. Her recent Vogue Arabia cover finally allowed her to step back into modeling for a bit.
Fans have accused her of copying Beyoncé’s style
Kardashian’s look has changed a lot through the years; her hair and makeup is different now than it was back in the late 2000s, and her style is much more polished. But not everyone has seen Kardashian’s style change as a positive; some think she’s started copying the looks of music icon Beyoncé. Kardashian’s recent Instagram photos have shown her face with a new makeup style — one that makes her look far different from how she once did. One Twitter user posted a side-by-side comparison of one of Kardashian’s recent selfies and one of Beyoncé’s selfies, and even we have to admit that the resemblance is uncanny.
People once again saw Beyoncé vibes in Kardashian’s recent Vogue Arabia cover
Kardashian recently published photos to social media of her photoshoot with Vogue Arabia, and though plenty of fans were thrilled to see her modeling and loved the photos, there were still quite a few comments suggesting Kardashian was doing her best to once again look like Beyoncé. “I love you as you can’t imagine, but I think this is a 100% copy paste of Beyoncé style (very formation)!!!,” one user commented. Others weren’t as nice with their accusations. “Beyoncé inspired… She’s obsessed,” another user wrote. “This is [the] style of Beyoncé,” someone else commented.
Some have said she looks completely unrecognizable
Recently, Kardashian appears to have dramatically changed the look of her face, despite always denying any plastic surgery. She has said in the past that she’s had fillers in her face as well as Botox, but she has remained adamant that she hasn’t had any reconstructive surgery done. However, fans have said that she doesn’t even look recognizable in recent photos compared to how she once did. The Kardashian-Jenners have never been shy about using Botox and fillers to enhance their looks, though some think in Kim Kardashian’s case, there was more done than she’s admitting.

A Groundbreaking Photo Of Beyoncé Has Been Selected For The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery
“See Your Halo” was shot by Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer to shoot a cover for Vogue.
A groundbreaking photograph of Beyoncé has been selected to enter the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
The shot was coordinated for Vogue by Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer to shoot a cover for the magazine in its 126-year history and one of the youngest photographers to do so.
Mitchell shared the news in a tweet on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the National Portrait Gallery confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the portrait has been acquired, but is not currently on view to the public.
The museum is still in the planning stages of when the picture will be displayed, the spokesperson said.
Leslie
Ureña, the associate curator of photographs for the gallery, said
staffers were “thrilled to acquire this magnificent portrait.”
“This acquisition will allow us to document a significant shift in the history of fashion photography through the depiction of a key figure in American culture,” Ureña said in an emailed statement.
This will be the second portrait of Beyoncé to enter the museum’s collection, the first being a poster of the singer’s debut album, Dangerously in Love, which is currently not on display.
According to HuffPost, the performer was given an unprecedented amount of control over the September 2018 issue of Vogue, allowing her to be in charge of various details such as the photographer, which eventually opened the door for Mitchell.
In the extended captions that accompanied Mitchell’s photography, Beyoncé explained why she chose to work with the young black photographer.
“Until there is a mosaic of perspectives coming from different ethnicities behind the lens, we will continue to have a narrow approach and view of what the world actually looks like,” she said.
“It’s important to me that I help open doors for younger artists,” she added.
Mitchell, who previously shot for Teen Vogue and Marc Jacobs, told the New York Times that he depicts “black people and people of color in a really real and pure way.”
“There is an honest gaze to my photos,” he said.
Mitchell’s work will join the works of other black photographers featured in the gallery, including Kwame Brathwaite, Roy DeCarava, Gordon Parks, James Van Der Zee, and Augustus Washington.

Tidal Is Being Investigated For Allegedly Inflating Beyoncé’s And Kanye West’s Numbers
The investigation comes after a report that the streaming service was artificially boosting music play numbers by tens of millions.
Tidal is under criminal investigation in Norway for allegedly inflating streaming counts for new music by Beyoncé and Kanye West.
Dagens Næringsliv (DN), a Norwegian financial publication, first reported Monday that the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation And Prosecution of Economic And Environmental Crime, known as Økokrim, is probing the music streaming service, which is based in Norway. The agency confirmed the fraud investigation in a press release, adding that three Norwegian music companies had filed criminal complaints against Tidal last fall.
Tidal, however, denied that it is the target of the investigation.
“Tidal is not a suspect in the investigation,” a representative for the company said in a statement. “We are communicating with Økokrim.”
DN reported in May that Tidal allegedly inflated the number of times its users had streamed Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo by tens of millions of streams. University computer scientists confirmed DN’s report with a forensic analysis of Tidal’s data.
The newspaper reported that four former Tidal employees have been questioned so far as part of the investigation. Økokrim did not immediately respond to BuzzFeed News’ request for comment.
DN, meanwhile, is hoping the legal power backing a government agency will force Tidal to be forthcoming.
“Tidal has throughout this never answered any concrete question about their streaming figures. These are questions the whole music industry want answers to. We’re eagerly waiting to know if Økokrim will get more answers from Tidal than we’ve been able to,” DN investigative editor Gry Egenes said in a statement.
Tidal, however, took aim at DN’s reporting methods.
“From the very beginning, DN has quoted documents that they have not shared with us in spite of repeated requests. DN has repeatedly made claims based on information we believe may be falsified,” a Tidal representative said in a statement. “We are aware that at least one person we suspected of theft has been questioned.”
Tidal launched an internal investigation, conducted by a third-party cybersecurity company, eight months ago, though the findings have not been made public. The streaming service has also been accused of paying royalties months late and lying about its total number of subscribers.
Tidal’s 2015 relaunch under Jay-Z’s ownership made a splash with A-list celebrity endorsements and the promise of higher-definition streaming and exclusive access to high-profile albums like The Life of Pablo. Since then, however, the company has failed to slow the momentum of Spotify and Apple Music, the two dominant players in streaming music.

Blind woman sues Beyonce’s entertainment company for discrimination
A blind woman has filed a class action lawsuit against Beyonce Knowles’ Parkwood Entertainment LLC, claiming the singer’s website discriminates against those who are visually impaired.
Mary Conner, who is legally blind, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York — where both Beyonce’s entertainment company is located and Conner lives — on Thursday.
The website does not allow blind fans to buy tickets, get tour updates, buy merchandise or learn more about the pop superstar, according to the lawsuit.
“Plaintiff brings this civil rights action against Parkwood for their failure to design, construct, maintain, and operate their website to be fully accessible to and independently usable by Plaintiff and other blind or visually-impaired persons,” according to the lawsuit.
“Defendant are denying blind and visually-impaired persons throughout the United States with equal access to the goods and services Parkwood provides to their non-disabled customers through http//:www.Beyonce.com.” (
The suit cites the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed by George H.W. Bush in 1990, and New York state law, which “requires places of public accommodation to ensure access to goods, services, and facilities by making reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities.”
Conner, on behalf of the class, is asking for an injunction against the website for violating the ADA and in order to take the necessary steps to make the singer’s site accessible to the blind.
The suit also asks for a payout of “compensatory damages in an amount to be determined by proof, including all applicable statutory damages and fines.” (MORE: Beyonce posts new photos of twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, on the beach)
Conner is represented by Dan Shaked of the Shaked Law Group in Brooklyn.
ABC News reached out to Beyonce’s representatives for comment on Friday, but have not heard back.
ABC News’ Andrea Dresdale contributed to this report.
