Pete Davidson Says His ‘Career Would Be Over’ If He Acted Like Ariana Grande
Pete Davidson believes a double standard is at play when it comes to how he and Arianna Grande are publicly perceived after their whirlwind 2018 summer romance ended as tragically as accidentally getting the word “‘BBQ grill’” tattooed on one’s hand … or yelling at college students for using their phones.
And nothing is more emblematic of that than a few jokes Davidson makes about his famous ex-fiancée in his new Netflix comedy special, “Alive From New York.”
In his stand-up routine, Davidson references a cover story on Grande in Vogue’s July 2019 issue, in which the pop star opened up about her intense relationship with Davidson that consisted of dating, getting engaged and breaking up within the span of about five months.
“I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction,” Grande told the magazine. “It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him.”
The “7 Rings” singer posed for the issue’s cover sporting a deep and controversial tan.
“Can you imagine if I did that?” Davidson said in his special, via Vulture. “My career would be over tomorrow. If I spray-painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started shitting on my ex.”
And although Ted Danson and Fred Armisen still have careers despite giving themselves spray tans, Davidson wasn’t quite done slamming his ex. He zeroed in on Grande describing their romance as a “distraction.”
“Can you imagine if I did that shit? If I was just like, ‘Yeah, I was just fucking her ‘cause I was bored, and then Fortnite came out.’ It would be insane,” Davidson jabbed.
The “Saturday Night Live” player then gets to his point.
“You’re like, ‘Pete, something had to happen to her, right? There had to be some repercussions.’ No, she won Billboard’s Woman of the Year and I got called ‘butthole eyes’ by BarstoolSports.com”
Davidson didn’t stop there. He also inferred that all of Grande’s fans are angry, cancel-happy 9-year-olds and how he can’t order drinks at Starbucks anymore because a cup size is called “grande.”
After talking about how all his friends thought Grande’s breakup anthem “Thank U, Next” (which mentions her split with Davidson) was catchy, the comedian decides to point out what he considers another double standard at work.
“I don’t like that she talked all this shit on, like, behalf of my dick,” he said. I thought that was super weird,” Pete said. “Can you imagine if I said that shit? Can you imagine if I was like, ‘Sorry, it didn’t work out. Nice pussy, though!’?”

Ariana Grande Hit With Copyright Suit Over ‘7 Rings’
Ariana Grande was sued on Thursday by a hip-hop artist who claims she ripped off the chorus of his song for her hit “7 Rings.”
Josh Stone, who performs as DOT, wrote and recorded “You Need I Got It” in 2017. He alleges that he took the song to music industry executives, including producer Tommy Brown, who has worked extensively with Grande.
The suit accuses Brown of lifting key elements of Stone’s song for Grande’s “7 Rings.” Grande’s song includes the repeating line: “I Want It, I Got It. I Want It, I Got It.” While Stone’s song has the refrain: “You Need It, I Got It. You Want It, I Got It.”
The suit, filed in New York federal court by attorney Tamir Young, alleges that two forensic musicologists have analyzed the choruses of each song and found the rhythm and notes to be substantially similar as well.
“Literally, every single one of the 39 respective notes of ‘7 Rings’ is identical with the 39 notes of ‘I Got It’ from a metrical placement perspective,” the suit alleges. “Said another way, the rhythm and placement of the notes and lyrics are identical.”
According to the suit, “7 Rings” has already netted more than $10 million in revenue. Grande is set to perform at the Grammy Awards next week, and is up for five awards, including two for “7 Rings.”
The suit names Universal Music Corp. along with many other defendants.
Grande’s label did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
Music copyright suits have become a hot-button issue in the industry since the 2015 “Blurred Lines” verdict. Last year, a jury found that Katy Perry had stolen a riff from Flame, a little-known Christian rapper.
Case 1:20-cv-00441 Document 1 Filed 01/16/20 Page 1 of 17 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK _____________________________________________ Josh Stone, COMPLAINT Plaintiff, -against- File No. 20-cv-441 Ariana Grande, Thomas Lee Brown, Taylor Monet Parks, Kimberly Anne Krysiuk, Victoria Monet McCants, Charles Michael Anderson, Michael David Foster, Njomza Vitia, BMG Rights Management US LLC, Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp., Kobalt Songs Music Publishing, The Royalty Network Inc., Universal Music Corporation, Concord Music Group, Inc. Demand for Jury Trial Defendants. _____________________________________________ Plaintiff, by and through his attorneys, STUDIN YOUNG PC, alleges as follows: PRELIMINARY STATEMENT 1. Ariana Grande is a world-famous singer/songwriter. Her recent hit song “7 RINGS,” released on January 18, 2019, is a worldwide juggernaut that reached #1 on weekly song charts in 23 countries during 2019, and 7 RINGS was recently nominated for multiple Grammy Awards including “Record of the Year.” 2. By all accounts, 7 RINGS is a huge commercial success and has generated (and continues to generate) millions of dollars. Indeed, 7 RINGS broke records for the most streams in 24 hours on Spotify and its official video has been viewed over 642 million times just on YouTube alone. 3. And by every method of analysis, 7 RINGS is a forgery – plagiarized from Plaintiff Josh Stone who wrote, recorded and published the nearly identical original work “You Need It, I Got It” (hereafter, “I GOT IT”) approximately two years earlier.

Ariana Grande Is Being Sued For Posting Paparazzi Photos Of Herself To Instagram
Article via BuzzfeedNews
The lawsuit is part of a growing trend by paparazzi to sue celebrities who share their photos to social media.
A paparazzi photographer filed a lawsuit against Ariana Grande Monday, alleging the singer violated copyright law by posting photos he took of her to her Instagram account.
Robert Barbera, a New York–based photographer, photographed Grande last year as she exited a building carrying a bag that read “Sweetener.”
Two of the photos were then shared on Grande’s official Instagram account Aug. 17, the day Grande released her album Sweetener. “Happy sweetener day,” she wrote in the caption.
The Instagram post, which remains up on Grande’s page, has received more than 3,390,000 likes. A screenshot of the photo was also filed as evidence in court:
“[Grande] infringed [Barbera’s] copyright in the Photographs by reproducing and publicly displaying the Photographs on the Instagram Page,” he wrote in his lawsuit. “[Grande] is not, and has never been, licensed or otherwise authorized to reproduce, publically display, distribute and/or use the Photographs.”
Barbera is suing for either the profits Grande earned from the photos or $25,000 for each pic.
Representatives for Grande didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from BuzzFeed News.
Grande is not the first celeb to land in legal hot water for posting a paparazzi photo.
BuzzFeed News reported in December that photo agencies have been targeting stars who use their pics — without credit — on their social channels.
In January, supermodel Gigi Hadid was sued by a photo agency for posting a pic it had taken of her to her 44 million Instagram followers.
Kim Kardashian West, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, and Jessica Simpson have also been impacted.
Paparazzi photographers have seen their profits sink since the advent of social media, which has allowed celebrities to take control of their image and share their own photos with fans.

Ariana Grande sued over ‘God Is a Woman’ video
Article via FOXNews
A Las Vegas artist accused Grande, 25, of copying an image of a woman’s silhouette in front of a candle for the steamy clip.
Vladimir Kush and his company Kush Fine Arts Las Vegas alleged that the image in Grande’s music video was “nearly identical” to Kush’s paintings that he copyrighted in 1999 and 2000.
The “God Is a Woman” music video has racked up nearly 200 million views since its debut in July 2018.
Kush is seeking unspecified damages from Grande and requested the music video be removed from the Internet.
The lawsuit lists Grande under her legal name, Ariana Grande-Butera, along with defendants Universal Music Group and the video director, producer and production company.
Susan Gutierrez, an attorney who represented Grande in a 2016 copyright infringement lawsuit, declined to comment to the Associated Press about the Las Vegas case.
The 2016 case, filed in Los Angeles, involved a songwriter’s claim that Grande’s song “One Last Time” was similar to his work of two years earlier. It was settled in August 2017.
Kush’s attorney, Mark Tratos, also declined comment to AP about the current suit.
It’s the latest accusation Grande faces of allegedly copying others’ work.
Last month, rapper Princess Nokia accused Grande of stealing lyrics from her song “Mine” for Grande’s smash “7 Rings.”
Rappers Soulja Boy and 2 Chainz later accused Grande of biting their work for the song as well, though 2 Chainz would later join forces with the singer for a “7 Rings” remix.
Grande has not yet publicly commented on the allegations of stealing others’ work.
A rep for Grande did not return a request for comment on the lawsuit.

Ariana Grande’s New Kanji Tattoo Is An Unfortunate Mistake
Article via kotaku.com
To celebrate her newest single “7 Rings,” pop star Ariana Grande got a kanji tattoo. Unfortunately, it’s wrong.
Grande posted a photo of her tattoo. In Japanese, it reads, 七輪 (shichirin). You can see the pic photo (via Grande’s official Japanese Twitter), which has since been deleted from her Instagram.
The kanji character 七 means “seven,” while 輪 means “hoop,” “circle,” “ring,” or “wheel.” However, when you put them together, the meaning is different! 七輪 (shichirin) is a “small charcoal grill” and not “seven rings,” which is written differently in Japanese.
Here is a shichirin:
A Google image search for 七輪 brings up these pics:
The most unfortunate thing of all is that Grande has people in Japan operating a Twitter account for her (next time ask them to check stuff!) and the video for “7 Rings” has the proper Japanese.
In the video, it’s correctly written as 七つの指輪 (nanantsu no yubiwa) or “seven rings.” It’s a shame she didn’t show that text to her tattooer.
How did this tattoo mistake happen? In a now deleted reply, Grande wrote, that she “left out ‘つの指’ which should have gone in between,” thus shortening the correct 七つの指輪 (seven rings) to 七輪 (small charcoal grill.” Whoops!
Continuing, she wrote that “it hurt like fuck” and “still looks tight,” adding that, she “wouldn’t have lasted one more symbol.” But those symbols have significance and unfortunately here, they totally changed the meaning of this tattoo.
Ariana Grande’s Comments Have Furious Fans Accusing Her of Blackfishing
Needless to say, determining what and who is Black will have us drawing and redrawing the line all day. With that being said, are those with Black ancestry allowed to embrace their roots and “blackfish”?
Too Far? Patti LaBelle Called Ariana Grande A ‘Black, White Girl’ And Twitter Explodes
Patti LaBelle is a soul legend and when she thinks someone has the pipes or the range, she has no problem showing some love. However, her compliment to pop singer Ariana Grande has some people giving Patti-Patti the side-eye.
While being honored as Billboard’s Woman of the Year, Patti said, “I’m thrilled to be among so many wonderful friends to present this year’s ultimate honor to Billboard’s Woman of the Year. A young woman who has it all — she’s soulful, strong, and she’s just sensational. She’s all that and a bag of chips. She’s a giant talent who sings from the heart, as I learned when we sang together at the White House for President Obama and Mrs. Obama. She tore it down. Honestly, she can sing her face off.”
Patti then said, “She asked me some questions one time. Remember when we did the President’s stuff? And you said, ‘Patti, what should I do?’ I said sing like that little white, Black girl that you are. She got soul like a mug!” She added, “My son told me not to say that, but it’s true.”
Grande, looking a bit mortified, responded, “Your son was probably right.” See below:
Twitter was obviously outraged by the 74-year-old comment, but let’s hope people given Patti a pass. This is arguably one of few hiccups in a 50 plus so career. Furthermore, Patti is allowed to have an opinion on voice since she is one of the greatest of all time.
