Rodan + Fields fires white woman charged with assaulting black teen at pool
A white woman dubbed “Pool Patrol Paula” on social media has been fired from skincare company Rodan + Fields a week after she was charged with assaulting a black teenager at a community pool in South Carolina.
In a statement obtained by NBC News in a report published Sunday, the company said Stephenie Sebby-Strempel, who was an independent contractor for the skincare brand, was no longer affiliated with the company after it determined she violated the its policy following its review of “law enforcement statements.”
“We do not condone violence of any kind and pride ourselves on embracing inclusion and acceptance of all,” Rodan + Fields also said in an earlier statement.
Sebby-Strempel was charged with third-degree assault after she confronted a 15-year-old boy and his friends at a community pool in Summerville, S.C., on June 24, according to an incident report.
The 38-year-old reportedly told the teens they “didn’t belong” there and had to leave.
The group of friends then began collecting their things and started to leave, a victim told police. Sebby-Strempel, however, allegedly began calling them “punks” and using racial slurs.
A video capturing the incident went viral online showing Sebby-Strempel threatening to call the police and telling the teenagers to “get out!”
The woman can also be seen reaching for the camera before the video abruptly cuts off. She allegedly struck the teenager at least three times.
According to local station WCSC, when Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office detectives attempted to serve Sebby-Strempel with an arrest warrant last Monday, she even allegedly bit one detective and pushed another into the wall.
The video is the latest in a series of widely publicized incidents caught on video that have sparked public outrage.
Earlier this year, a white resident nicknamed online as “Barbecue Becky” called police on a black family who were setting up a charcoal grill in a public park.
Another viral video from last month also showed a white woman dubbed “Permit Patty” calling 911 on a black girl selling bottled water in San Francisco.

Gorillaz: The Now Now Review
After only a year, our favorite virtual band is back with new music. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, The Now Now.
This latest album is a definite change from the previous album Humanz, but that’s not to say it’s a bad thing. With the previous album having a lot of collaborations, this one mainly consist of Damon Albarn (voice of 2-D) singing on all the tracks save for Hollywood, Lake Zurich, and Humility.
I for one enjoyed this album a lot. While it doesn’t have as many songs as I wanted it to, it still doesn’t take away from album itself. In my opinion I’ve never heard a bad Gorillaz album. The theme of this album seems interesting as well. It seems to be about sticking together in troubled times but also the character 2-D enjoying his life while Murdoc is locked away in jail, as seen in the music video, Humility.
Apart from Humility, the other songs that I definitely have on repeat are Sorcererz, Fire Flies, Souk Eye, and Hollywood.
I’m conclusion, is this album worth buying and or listening to? Absolutely! If you haven’t heard it now, go listen to them, I give the album 9 out of 10!
Georgia Teen With No Prior Record Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Stealing a Pair of Sneakers When He Was 15
Dayonn Davis took the shoes from the unsuspecting owner who tried to sell them on Facebook. But despite the fact that he has no prior criminal record, Judge Bobby Peters handed down the stiff sentence, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.
“I don’t get that,” Peters said while sentencing the teen for robbery this week. “Must be some valuable shoes.”
Those “valuable shoes” were a pair of Nike Oreos that sometimes come with a price tag of more than $100.
Davis made contact with the owner after seeing them for sale on Facebook and arranged to meet on Jan. 17, 2016, according to prosecutor Sadhana Dailey.
Another young man came with Davis to the meeting, where Davis asked to try on the shoes. After finding out that they fit, Davis apparently told the owner, “These shoes is took.”
That’s when things further escalated, with Davis’ companion pulling a pistol out. Everyone ran.
However, Columbus police tracked down the then-young teen and found the stolen shoes in his closet.
Davis originally refused to name the person he was with, but eventually he did. The victim, however, could not identify that suspect when shown a photo lineup.
Defense attorney Susan Henderson attempted to plead on Davis’ behalf, saying that the teen wanted to put the matter behind him and move on.
“He’s been extremely remorseful,” she said. “He’s got his life on track now.”
Henderson noted that Davis was charged as an adult in the crime but also had no previous juvenile record. She also noted that her client had been an A and B student at Kendrick High School before his grades dropped after his arrest, and she maintained that he had no idea the guy with him would pull a gun.
“I was young at the time, so I wasn’t in my right mind,” Davis told the judge.
Peters was not buying the excuses.
“Maybe he’s the wrong person,” the judge said of Davis, emphasizing that whether or not Davis intended for anyone to pull a gun, he had obviously intended to take the shoes, since he had been the one who set up the meeting. “He’s the one with the shoes in his closet.”

Spotify backtracks on anti-hate policy following criticism
It’s all about the money. The executives at Spotify don’t care about their image. Trust and believe. Are Kelly and the other is safe removed because of foul public conduct won’t be put right back on there playlist . This is when we asked the consumer need to take over. If you don’t like what’s on their playlist you start listening to that artist. Boycott Spotify anything Spotify you don’t posted you don’t advertise it don’t listen to it you don’t download it because every time you download their app and pay their premiums they get paid.
NEW YORK (AP) — Spotify is backpedaling on its recently announced anti-hate policy after some music industry players criticized it.
The company said in blog post that when it announced the policy on May 10 it “created confusion and concern” and that Spotify “didn’t spend enough time getting input from our own team.” Last month Spotify said it would remove from its playlists music from R. Kelly, who has been accused of sexual abuse, and XXXTentacion, who’s been accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend.
Some praised the company’s decision, but others criticized it, saying it targeted specific artists.
Spotify said Friday it is “moving away from implementing a policy around artist conduct.”
Spotify didn’t officially say it would begin promoting XXXTentacion and R. Kelly’s music. XXXTentacion, however, is now back on Spotify’s Rap Caviar playlist.

Rubio campaign chair compares Obama to a monkey to defend Roseanne
former Florida lawmaker and volunteer for Marco Rubio is coming close to outshining Roseanne Barr in abusing social media to air racist sentiments.
Susan Goldstein, who served as Florida state representative for western Broward County from 2004 to 2006, took to Facebook after the Roseanne scandal and compared President Obama to a cartoon monkey, reports the Miami New Times.
First, she denounced the double standard in the public discourse that allows comedians to compare Donald Trump to an orangutan, but slams Roseanne Barr for comparing Valerie Jarrett, a black woman, to an ape. Then she brought former President Barack Obama into it.
“And I truly think Obama resembles the Curious George cartoon, who I think is an adorable character,” Goldstein wrote on Facebook. “Curious George that is. That is what my eyes see. And I am not racist, and there is not mean-spirited intent in my observation. But I can’t say it. Double standard.”
A reporter for New Times prompted Goldstein to elaborate. Her response was, “this is why people hate the press.”
Nevertheless, she doubled down. “I believe there is a double standard,” she told New Times. “All I was trying to say is that I don’t get why this ‘comedian excuse’ works for some and not others,” she said.
“I saw Wanda Sykes compare Donald Trump to an orangutan. Didn’t we all evolve from apes? Isn’t that what the evolutionists agree that we all evolved from? So I don’t understand why it’s OK for a comparison to be made to an ape for white people but not blacks.”
As the New Times reporter points out, the difference is that imagery and language referencing monkeys or apes has been used to dehumanize, maltreat and murder black people for centuries. The same is not true of wealthy white businessmen.

Missing National Guardsman Found Dead After He Was Swept Away in Maryland Flash Floods
(ELLICOTT CITY, Md.) — Searchers scouring a river Tuesday that runs alongside a historic Maryland town ripped apart by flash flooding found the body of a man last seen being swept away by brown waters racing downhill, gutting shops and pushing parked cars into bursting tributaries.
Volunteers and crews with trained dogs had been methodically hunting for 39-year-old Eddison Hermond who disappeared Sunday afternoon, following torrential rains that prompted destructive flash flooding in historic Ellicott City for the second time in less than two years.
On Tuesday afternoon, his body was located in the Patapsco River. He was the only person reported missing in Ellicott City — established in 1772 as a mill town surrounded by hills — where many now can’t get the roar of rushing floodwaters out of their heads.
“To have died helping somebody else is incredible. And I can’t even imagine the loss his family is suffering,” said Nicholas Johnson, owner of a store near the spot where Hermond vanished while trying to help a woman who had escaped through a window with her cat.
Hermond, of Severn, Maryland, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a sergeant in the Maryland Army National Guard. He was described by those who knew him as an affable, generous man.
With waters receded, residents of the flood-prone Maryland town are facing another daunting comeback less than two years since another terrible flood deluged their beloved downtown, smashing inventory and ripping up floors and pavement.
Some people in Ellicott City’s historic downtown say they are determined to rebuild after Sunday’s devastation. Their hope: to pull together as a community once again and live up the nickname “Ellicott City Strong,” which many locals are now repeating as a sort of mantra.
Simon Cortes, owner of La Palapa Grill & Cantina, said it’s “a horrible time,” and his business took on about a foot (30 centimeters) of water. But he notes the quaint old town has been through it all before, and he’ll do his part to spur another revival.
“I feel like it’s our duty to make sure that we rebuild and open back up,” said Cortes, whose restaurant Hermond was visiting before being swept away by Sunday’s raging floodwaters.
Others are stretched to the breaking point by the floods, which tore up streets and swept away dozens of cars in the quaint downtown of historic 18th and 19th century buildings, which sit in a ravine some 13 miles (20 kilometers) west of Baltimore.
Another massive cleanup, serious economic losses and a daunting comeback couldn’t come at a worse time. Sunday’s torrential rains came just as the commercial district seemed to come back stronger than ever from a dreadful July 2016 flash flood that killed two people.
Getting flood insurance around old Ellicott City was a pricy proposition before. Now, people don’t even want to think about how much it might cost, on top of the debts they’re still paying from the last time their homes and businesses were destroyed.
Nathan Sowers, owner of the River House Pizza Co., an outdoor eatery in the old mill town’s business district, said that after all the hard work rebuilding from the 2016 flood, he’s feeling a bit overwhelmed at attempting yet another comeback.
“We’ll see. It takes a lot of money and a lot of time, a lot of energy,” he said, speaking near a bridge where several crushed cars were swept into a muddy tributary’s banks.
But Sowers said he saw other hard-hit locals laughing and joking about their troubles first thing Monday morning — a good sign the Maryland town will launch yet another rebirth.
But the bad news just kept coming following the torrential rains: On Tuesday morning, county authorities issued what they called a “precautionary health alert” after a sewage main broke about 2 miles (3 kilometers) away from Ellicott City’s historic main street.
The sewage overflow, which was first noticed early Monday, has been stopped. But as much as 500,000 gallons of sewage had already spilled and residents were being told to stay away from the affected area.
Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman has told reporters his immediate priorities were finding Hermond and assessing the condition of damaged buildings that housed shops, restaurants and families. That assessment work continued Tuesday.
“If you look at the devastation and the damage, I would certainly say it’s worse than 2016,” Kittleman said.

Mom Blasts Southwest Airlines For Asking To ‘Prove’ Biracial Son Was Hers
I wonder if the woman was black if she’d been arrested?
A Southwest Airlines employee asked a college basketball coach over the weekend to “prove” that her biracial son was hers, the woman said Monday.
Lindsay Gottlieb, the head women’s basketball coach at the University of California at Berkeley, said she was flying from Denver to Oakland with her 1-year-old son, Jordan, when the airline employee requested his birth certificate.
Gottlieb said she didn’t have the official document, though offered his passport, which lists him as having a different last name.
“She said, well, how do I know that you’re the mother?” Gottlieb recalled to KPIX News. Gottlieb is white, and Jordan’s father is black.
