Tiffany Haddish Reveals She Was Raped as a Teen by a Police Cadet
In the September issue of Glamour, the 38-year-old comedian opens up about a painful and life-changing sexual assault at the hands of a police cadet. Haddish was just 17-years-old at the time, she sayss.
“That whole experience put me in such a messed-up place for a long time, and I ended up going to counseling,” Haddish told writer Niela Orr.
Haddish told Orr that she reported the incident when it happened, but nothing came of it. She added that she wasn’t sure what justice would look like in that incident.
“Me just yelling out people’s names with no thought behind it is pointless. I need a plan,” Haddish said. “I could be a voice, but what’s a voice going to do—just keep talking? Or is there action behind it?”
Since the rape, Haddish says she’s developed a brashness towards men that functions as a sort of defense. She discloses how directors and producers have come on to her (“I might get real bossy and say, ‘First off, don’t nobody want to see your little dick!’ I get loud, all that,” she says). But she also uses sexual aggression to take control.
“I notice that men are afraid of women that are aggressive. So to protect myself I become semi-aggressive,” Haddish said. “You hear about, ‘Tiffany always hitting on somebody,’ but that’s to keep them from hitting on me.”
Haddish has spoken out about rampant sexual harassment in the entertainment industry before. In an interview with People magazine last year about her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, Haddish said, “it seemed like everybody wanted to get in my panties. It was constant defending and battling. These men will try you every single time.”
“It’s like hazing,” she continued. “Once they figure out you’re strong and you don’t roll like that, then they start treating you like a colleague.”

Man Considered FBI’s First ‘Black Identity Extremist’ Speaks Out After Being Jailed, In Part, Over Facebook Post
“I hope to live in a society where the federal government will actually work in the best interest of the people, and not work in interest of oppressing people.”
Article via: Blativity.com
The feds labeling outspoken black activists as terrorists is nothing new. Malcolm X, Huey P. Newton, Martin Luther King Jr. are just a few civil rights leaders who were closely monitored and penalized by the government for exercising their first amendment rights.
More recently, Rakem Balogun was targeted by the FBI, labeled a terrorist and yanked from his home in December 2017 as he and his 15-year-old slept — all because of a Facebook post.
In response to Micah Johnson’s July 2016 rampage, in which he shot and killed five Dallas officers following the deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, Balogun took to Facebook to share his sentiments.
According to an interview with Mic in episode 1 of the “Mic Dispatch” Facebook series, he wrote, “One man named Micah X brought the whole Dallas pig department to its knees, protesting police terrorism, and I stand with him.”
Balogun, whose real name is Christopher Daniels, was held in jail and denied bail over a period of five months. He was released in May when the case flopped, as prosecutors were unable to prove the activist is a terrorist. Because, innocent.
Michael German, a fellow with the Brennan Center for Justice, told Mic, “the only evidence prosecution and the judge would have had to justify holding him, was his political activity and online rhetoric, which seemed to be punishment for him, rather than an attempt to protect the public.”
The Texas activist is reportedly the first person prosecuted under the name Black Identity Extremist, according to The Guardian.
BIE was initiated in a U.S. government assessment following Johnson’s deadly rampage.
Little did the social justice warrior know, utilizing his freedom of speech (as a black man) would lead to a series of unfortunate events and run-ins with law enforcement. This would not only cause him to lose his house, car and job, but also his peace of mind.
“Ever since that moment, we have not been able to gain our peace back,” Balogun told Mic.
In his interview, Balogun tries to clear up the intent behind his support of Johnson.
“I can see why people would misconstrue that,” he said. “I do have the first amendment right to express my opinion — I have the first amendment right to support someone who possibly killed somebody, and I have the right to not empathize with the dead, just like everyone else in this country.”
While this is all true, it’s even more important to understand he has the right to not be racially profiled. What the label BIE does, and what many black activists fear, is it can spark a ripple effect of the persecution of outspoken, black community leaders.
Balogun is the co-founder of two local Texas organizations: Guerrilla Mainframe and the Huey P. Newton Gun Club; both fight against police brutality, and for the rights of black gun owners. Ultimately, a black man fighting for his rights, is a threat to our government.
But justice will eventually prevail, and we will never be silenced, because as Balogun said: “We’re going to keep our foot on the gas and keep moving forward.”
Jay-Z Is Beefing With the Mayor of Philadelphia
Jay-Z Is Beefing With the Mayor of Philadelphia Over His Made in America Festival
While there’s a potential beef brewing between Beyoncé and the city of Rome, there’s one already roaring between her husband and the city of Philadelphia. Jay-Z has published an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer accusing the city’s mayor, Jim Kenney, of attempting to shut down Jay’s annual Made in America Festival. Jay claims that Mayor Kenney banned next year’s festival from its usual location of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway without notice, and tried to get this year’s festival canceled.
We are disappointed that the mayor of the city of Philadelphia would evict us from the heart of the city, through a media outlet, without a sit-down meeting, notice, dialogue, or proper communication. It signifies zero appreciation for what Made In America has built alongside the phenomenal citizens of this city. In fact, this administration immediately greeted us with a legal letter trying to stop the 2018 event.
The letter goes on to slam the mayor for his failure to support a minority-owned business that financially benefits the city. Jay ends by saying he and his team “will discuss our options internally and handle accordingly,” meaning his festival could soon be on the market for a new city. Hey, Hov, your hometown is available!
Update, July 18th, at 8:10 p.m.: Mayor Kenney’s office has issued the following statement in response to the op-ed: “The City of Philadelphia supports the Made in America festival and is greatly appreciative of all that it has done for Philadelphia. We are committed to its continued success and thank them for their partnership. We hope to be able to resolve what has been an unfortunate misunderstanding. We are working with Roc Nation and Live Nation to resolve this issue and we are committed to continuing our partnership with the Made in America festival.”

‘Have Another Stroke’: Azalea Banks Goes After Wendy Williams
Two days ago, Azalea Banks went after Nick Cannon and his MTV show Wildin Out. She accused the cast of blindsiding her with colorist, insensitive jokes – making her the dark skin punching bag (who cried on the show!).
(Cast members admitted to calling AB ugly but they insist that they did not dole out any colorist jokes.) Watch Lovelyti’s video on the situation:
Yesterday, Wendy Williams commented on the situation, where she shadily or unknowingly kept calling Azalea, Iggy.
Afterwards, Wendy listed some of the celebrities that Banks fought with over the years like Cardi B, Remy Ma, Rihanna, Erykah Badu, Beyoncé, Russell Crowe, Skai Jackson and Kendrick Lamar.
“My thought about Azealia Banks, I don’t know her, but she seems to be smart but angry and her anger seems to be the problem,” said Wendy. “A lot of times people would rather work with second best who’s not so angry than first best. And I’m not familiar with her music. I’m just familiar with her anger.”
Some might say that Wendy took it easy on Banks and didn’t come down on her like she has other celebs. But that didn’t stop the rapper from responding on Instagram.
“OMG, can Wendy Williams have another stroke on TV and finally drop dead?” wrote Banks. “I would love to see her die on air.”
If you didn’t know, the rapper’s message has to do with a 2017 Halloween episode where Williams fainted on live TV.
Meanwhile, Banks was working on her new album “Fantasea II: The Second Wave” but shelved it after her “Wild ‘N Out” experience. “Album is canceled,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I need some time to relax and bounce on d–k. I’ll release new music when I feel like it.”
We are waiting with bated breath for this episode to air.
In the meantime check out AB’s new hit Treasure Island!
Living while black in racist white America The tale of the counterfeit coupon
Disclaimer: This article is the opinions of the lovelytitv writer Tawny Hembry and NOT that of Lovelyti or other Lovelytitv writers.
Racism has always been hazardous to their health. Racist white folks are always talking and or writing checks they mouth and fingers can’t pay. Racist ignorant White folks tend to have selective hearing and seeing when it comes to what they understand, see, hear and do when it comes to people of color. Our very black existence frightens them. Our presence makes them shake with fear.
We could assume that this bigoted racist white store manager has the beginning stages of Parkinson’s disease? Writers Note: I’m in no way making light of those with Parkinson’s disease. I’m just observing this I have/know a lot of African American black friends ignorant bigoted white mans apparent physical shacking problem. Anyway we could assume he has an adrenaline rush ? We could assume he was just doing his job. This racist bigoted white man’s fragility got me to thinking and researching on counterfeit coupons and was there really a problem . Apparently, there is a big problem.

When doing my research I found that there is such a detailed operation where people do spend all day everyday producing counterfeit coupons. There’s an organization dedicated to this very thing . Called CIC Counterfeit Information Corporation This African-American BLACK lady was falsely accused of hop skipping in to CVS to pass off a counterfeit coupon. But what African-American black hoddie wearin’ person would even think to walk into a store and try to pass off a counterfeit Coupon ? Now African American black folks and food stamps is another story. I know one thing these racist ignorant bigoted white folk tears is making me full. But I’m greedy so I guess I’ll get me another cup.
Nick Cannon Responds To Azealia Banks’ Accusation Of Mistreatment On “Wild’n Out”
Nick Cannon questions Azealia Banks’ karmic merit.
Banks first made her feelings known in the above post, then resorted to the Instagram Story feature for additional commentary, adding: “If I were to make fun of Nick Cannon for having lupus and being weak and sickly….If I made a joke that said he’d be dead by the end of the year….Then Azealia Banks is the bad guy…. right?”
Inevitably word got around to Nick Cannon that she’d referenced him by name. He then chose to enliven her post on his own page with a not so well intended message, in which he referenced a familiar proverb: “creating storms without an umbrella.” Nick Cannon closed his message by mocking her mental illness and by offering prayers for a “speedy recovery.”

‘Coupon Carl’ Calls Cops on Black Woman at CVS for Allegedly Using a Forged Coupon, But Was Busted Himself for … Forgery Less Than 2 Years Ago
Yes, this is yet another story of a sorry white person calling the police on a black person for something trivial and not criminal—his moniker? “Coupon Carl”—but it’s also a cautionary tale of the blowback of such actions; or, as my mama says, “When you point a finger, there are three pointing back at you.”
Morry Matson, a white Chicago CVS manager who called the police on a black woman who tried to use a manufacturer’s coupon at the pharmacy (yes, you read that correctly), was captured on video in the absurd interaction.
The woman, Camilla Hudson, told Block Club Chicago that she initially tried to use the self-checkout, but it lacked a mechanism for taking coupons. It reports:
The store’s manager, Matson, offered to assist her on a register, but the situation escalated when he called for another manager, she said. That manager, whose name was not known, told Hudson they couldn’t accept the voucher because he’d never seen one like it before and accused her of possibly handwriting it, she said.
The situation escalated as Hudson was rightfully offended at being called a liar and a thief. She was asked to leave but stood her ground as Matson called police.
A screenshot of the Facebook post telling of her side of the story (taken down by the social media platform) is below:
In 2016, DNA Info Chicago (now in archives), reported that “A vote on extending the lakefront path from Edgewater to Rogers Park was yanked from the November ballot after city officials ruled that five pages of signatures on the petitions calling for the vote were forged.”
Guess who the forger was?
Yep, old Coupon Carl (aka Morry Matson).
Raw Story reports that Morry was leading an effort to build an expensive waterfront bike path to a beach near his own home, saying that improving the beachfront would not mean they saw an influx of “people from the South Side” (and we know who he means).
Yet apparently, an opponent of the bike path discovered that in at least five of the 13 pages of his ballot measure contained signatures written by Matson.
The U.S. Navy Is Just Now Allowing Black Female Sailors To Wear Their Natural Hair
Hair styling has never really been a “just hair” issue for black women. Whether rocking it in the professional world or during a protest, afros, locs and braids have long served both as a means of personal, religious and sociopolitical expression.
The U.S. military has had strict dress and grooming codes in place. But, as more and more black women have joined the armed forces, the issue of hair became more complicated. Many soldiers lobbied for the right to wear their hair in varied styles.
According to the Marine Corps Times, the U.S. Marines became the first branch to allow locs and twists, starting the policy in December 2015. According to News One, the U.S. Army followed suit in January 2017.
Now, according to the Associated Press, the U.S. Navy is joining in on the inclusive hairstyle movement and will allow locs, ropelike strands (such as braids or twists), wider hair buns and ponytails to be worn by its female servicemembers.
“Because of the texture of my hair, it stood straight up,” recalled Captain Thurraya Kent, who was forced to remove her braids under the old policy. “It was a very embarrassing moment that stays with you.”
Kent went on to serve as the senior member of the group who recommended the policy update.
Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson and Yeoman First Class LaToya Jones announced the new policy during a Facebook Live event on Tuesday. Other black servicewomen in the recommendation group joined as well, per OANN.
“It’s my honor to announce that CNO and CNP have announced the following recommendations: loc hairstyles will be authorized, hair bun width will be authorized to be equal to the width of the back of the head, ponytails will be authorized in all service, working and PT uniforms,” Jones noted proudly.
“I think it’s a step forward,” noted Lieutenant Commander Jess Cameron. “They’re getting more female feedback in the service, and updating what I think are somewhat antiquated guidelines that maybe no longer serve their purpose in today’s society, today’s military.”

Emmett Till Murder Investigation Reopened 62 Years After Slaying
Emmett Till was a 14-year old boy who was brutally beaten and shot for allegedly making sexual advances against a white woman. The white women later confessed she lied.
Watch the 2017 update here:
Thankfully, federal authorities have reopened the lynching case of Emmett Till, a black teenager whose brutal murder in Mississippi in 1955 helped launch the modern civil rights movement.
The Department of Justice informed Congress in a report in March that it is reopening the case after “the discovery of new information,” which was not detailed. The decision was first reported on Thursday by The Associated Press.
A DOJ spokeswoman, reached by HuffPost in an email on Thursday, said it cannot provide further comment because it is an open investigation.
The department’s decision comes nearly 63 years after Till, a 14-year-old Chicago native, was kidnapped, beaten, tortured and shot after a white woman accused him of making sexual advances against her in a store in Money, Mississippi. Since his death, two white men acquitted of the crime confessed to his murder, and the woman recanted her allegations against him.
The horrifying case began in August 1955, when Till was abducted at gunpoint while staying with family near Money. Three days after he was taken in the night, his mutilated body was found in the Tallahatchie River with a cotton-gin fan tied to it with barbed wire for weight.
His mother, Mamie Bradley, insisted on having an open casket funeral for him so that the world could see the savagery done to him because of racial hatred.
Authorities charged two white men for his murder, Rob Bryant and his half-brother, J.W. Milam, after Bryant’s then-wife, 21-year-old Carolyn Bryant, claimed that Till whistled at her, grabbed her and made sexual advances against her inside her husband’s store.
Both men were acquitted by an all-white jury. Years later in a paid magazine interview, they confessed to killing Till but were never retried. No one else was ever charged.
Milam and Bryant died in 1981 and 1994, respectively.
The case was closed in 2007, with authorities stating that there were no surviving suspects and the statute of limitations at that point precluded federal charges.
Last year the book The Blood of Emmett Till was published with a confession from Carolyn Bryant, today Carolyn Donham, that she lied under oath about her claims against Till. She confessed during an interview in 2008.
“Nothing that boy did could ever justify what happened to him,” she was quoted as saying.
Donham today resides in Raleigh, North Carolina, and will turn 84 this month. A man who answered her door declined to comment to the AP on her behalf.
Civil rights activist the Rev. Jessie Jackson Sr. was among those reacting to the department’s decision on social media on Thursday by urging the passing of a bill that would make lynchings unlawful at the federal level as well as a hate crime.
This Black Family Was Delivering Papers, And Guess What? Cops Were Called On Them.
T’is officially the season for calling the police on our Brothers and Sisters
A mother wanted to teach her sons about the value of hard work, and thought that a good-old-fashioned paper route was the way to do so. Instead, however, her sons learned a hard lesson about being black in America, ABC6/FOX28 reports.
Brandie Sharpe and sons Mycah, 17, and Uriah, 11, were working a paper route in a Columbus, Ohio neighborhood when they realized they’d accidentally delivered a few papers to the wrong houses.
Sharp sent Uriah to retrieve the misplaced papers and as he was doing so, the group was approached by a police officer.
“I showed him the thing for the Dispatch, The Bag, the midday week paper, that we get,” Brandie told ABC6/FOX28. “And he said ‘Oh, really?’ and by that time I was kind of like, ‘Okay, why are you questioning me about this?'”
A resident had called the police on the family.
“It looked like at first they were delivering newspapers or something, but I noticed they were walking up to the houses with nothing in hand and one of them came back with something,” the caller told the dispatcher. “I mean, I don’t want to say something was going on, but it just but it just seemed kind of suspicious.”
Sharp isn’t buying it.
“I want to know what was suspicious, what was suspicious,” Sharp told NBC4. “That an 11-year -old was up in the driveway, getting a newspaper, literally went up and came right back down.”
The incident prompted an angry Facebook post from Sharp that went viral.
“First day of paper route and we are pulled over by police … Sad I cant even teach my son the value of working without someone whispering and looking at us out the side of their eye perhaps because we DON’T ‘look like a person that belongs in their neighborhood,’” she wrote.
“Police officer pulls up and ask us questions as if we were intruding in their area. Totally disgusted and disturbed that this kind of behavior still exist [sic]. My apologies Upper Arlington for bringing my 12-year-old African American son into your neighborhood to deliver the paper and make a few dollars on the side … NO HARM INTENDED … I will make sure my boss changes his route.”
Police department spokesman Bryan McKean says the responding officer “determined very quickly that these individuals were delivering the newspaper,” and that race wasn’t a factor in the department’s response.
“If she feels she was treated unfairly by our officer, we want to hear from her,” McKean said. “We want to know what our officer did to make her feel that way so we can investigate that and we can find out.”
The Upper Arlington Police Department also issued a statement describing the incident and pointing out a law saying delivery people cannot leave papers driveways.
“For some context, [Upper Arlington] recently enacted a law placing more stringent requirements on the delivery of printed materials, such as advertising packets, to help reduce littering. Deliveries must be made to specific locations, such as on a porch or through a mail slot in the front door,” the statement read. “This has changed the patterns of delivery people, since they are required to walk up to each home to correctly deliver these materials. Residents are seeing this change in approach but may not be aware of the new law.”
