Two South Carolina Men Charged for Forcing Alligator to Drink Beer
Two South Carolina men each face a harassment charge after pictures surfaced on social media showing them pouring beer down the throat of an alligator, authorities saidJoseph Andrew Floyd Jr., 20, and Zachary Lloyd Brown, 21, both of Ridgeland, are accused of harassing wildlife, the state’s Department of Natural Resources said in a news release.
The incident took place on Wednesday in Jasper County, located in the coastal region in the southernmost part of the state.
The men admitted to investigators that they picked up the juvenile alligator after they saw it crossing a road, forced beer down its throat and watched it swim away in a nearby pond, according to the release.
Pictures posted on social media alerted officials the next day.
“We started receiving a lot of e-mails and phone calls about this. People had taken screen shots from Snapchat accounts,” the agency’s spokeswoman Kyndel McConchie told CNN.
Other photos show beer being dripped into its mouth while its neck is held tightly. Another picture shows smoke being blown onto the face of the gator.
Besides the state misdemeanor charge of harassing wildlife, Floyd and Brown also face a maximum fine of $300.
There is federal protection in place to ensure alligators are legally harvested for international trade. But for a case like this, no federal protection applies, the Department of Natural Resources said.
“Alligators are protected under state law and even federal law where they are still listed as threatened solely due to their similarity of appearance to other endangered crocodilians worldwide,” SCDNR Alligator Program Coordinator Jay Butfiloski added.

2 Texas Toddlers Die in Hot Car; Mom Says They Took Her Keys, Phone and Locked Themselves in
Two young children were found dead Friday in Parker County, Texas, in what appeared to be a hot car incident.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the mother of the children — a 2-year-old girl and a 16-month-old boy — found them in a locked vehicle.
The Tarrant County medical examiner’s website identified the children as Juliet and Cavanaugh Ramirez.
Parker County Sheriff’s Capt. Mark Arnett told CNN that according to the mother, the children were playing in a back room of their home when they disappeared. After searching the home, the mother began looking outside, where she eventually found them locked inside the car.
She told investigators that when she found them, one of the children had her cellphone and car keys, Arnett said.
She reportedly broke a window to reach the children, but both were unresponsive, according to the news release. She added that the children had gotten into the car and locked themselves inside.
“The question is, can a 2-year-old open a car door and a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old climb inside and lock it,” Arnett said. “In the course of the investigation, if charges are warranted, I’m sure the district attorney’s office will bring them.”
Authorities were alerted to the incident just after 4 p.m., the news release said, when the temperature outside had reached 96 degrees. The children were pronounced dead.
The ongoing investigation is a joint effort between the Parker County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers, Arnett told CNN.
“This case is in the early stages of the investigation,” Sheriff Larry Fowler said in the release. “Any comment regarding this case at this time would be an assumption until all of the facts are gathered.”
Parker County is west of Fort Worth.
Utah Mother Arrested After Allegedly Locking Children in Trunk of Car While She Shopped at Wal-Mart
A mother was arrested on suspicion of child abuse Thursday after a witness saw her lock her 2 and 5-year-old children in the trunk of a car in a Wal-Mart parking lot while she went shopping, KTLA sister station KSTU reported.
According to police, several people helped the children escape from the locked trunk before Tori Castillo, 39, surfaced from the store.
Heidi, who wanted to keep her last name anonymous, was one of those people.
She said she and her friend were unloading groceries nearby when she heard noise coming from the trunk. She walked over and put her ear against the car.
“I could hear some kids crying,” she recounted. “I turned to my friend and I’m like, ‘There’s people in this trunk. There’s kids in this trunk!'”
Heidi said she and her friend, as well as two other women, started trying to help the girl inside. She said one of the women had seen the mother put the children in the trunk, before walking into the store.
“I started talking to the little girl that I could hear screaming,” Heidi said. “She was (yelling), ‘Mom, let me out! Let me out! Mom! Help!” She was screaming, crying.”
At that point, Heidi said she started yelling back at the girl, guiding her on how to open the truck with the emergency latch.
The trunk popped open. Heidi said the children were scared, and sweating from the heat.
“Both kids just came out… they just jumped out at us,” Heidi said. “One lady took the 2-year-old, I took the 5-year-old.”
While they waited for police, Heidi said the mother emerged from the store.
“The only explanation she had was, ‘My babysitter didn’t show up,'” Heidi said.
According to the Riverdale Police Department, Castillo was booked into the Weber County Correctional Facility in Ogden. She faces four counts of child abuse with physical injury and one charge of theft.
The Division of Child and Family Services responded, “and the children were turned over to a responsible party,” according to a news release.
Heidi still can’t believe the shocking scene she witnessed.
“It was kind of heartbreaking to see that somebody could do something so cruel,” she said.

‘He’ll Never Be in a Fight Alone’: Virginia Dad Makes Feeding Tube to Match 3-Year-Old Son’s
A devoted dad in Virginia is gaining supporters all over the internet after sharing a photo of himself posing with his young son who was born with a congenital heart defect.
Robert Selby, whose 3-year-old son Chace requires a feeding tube, fashioned one of his own and glued it on to match his son in the Instagram photo.
“This was actually a picture from a year ago,” Selby told the “Today” show. “I did this same photo every year from when he was 6 months old, way back. Last year, he asked me, ‘Why do I have a G-tube?’ and I told him it’s because he’s so strong, because he’s Superman. He’s Super Chace. I told him he’s stronger than Daddy, and he said, ‘But you’re Super Dad,’ so I said OK, and I put a G-tube on me, too.”
Chace has had two open-heart surgeries since he was born and requires the feeding tube because he is under weight.
Robert said in the post, “As long as I’m breathing, I`ll always support my son and he’ll never be in a fight alone.”

Teachers under fire for naming student ‘most likely to become a terrorist’
Disciplinary action was taken against several Texas middle school teachers after they named a student “most likely to become a terrorist.”
The superlative was given to seventh grader Lizeth Villanueva in a mock ceremony this week at Anthony Aguirre Junior High in Channelview, Texas, according to news station KHOU.
“She said that some people might get offended, but she doesn’t really care about our feelings,” she said. “She was laughing about it.”
Her mom Ena Hernandez said she was horrified to find the certificate.
“I read it twice. I’m like, ‘What is this?!’” Hernandez told KHOU.
She said that the award set a bad example for the students.
“It doesn’t look good at all, especially coming from a teacher, a grown-up woman,” Hernandez said. “It doesn’t look good because everything that’s going on right now.”
The principal personally apologized to the family and the school announced Thursday that the teachers involved had been disciplined.
“The Channelview Independent School District Administration would like to apologize for the insensitive and offensive fake mock awards that were given to students in a classroom,” the district said in a statement. “Channelview ISD would like to assure all students, parents and community members that these award statements and ideals are not representative of the district’s vision, mission and educational goals for our students.
Pregnant Woman Blasts Father Of Her Child On Facebook Live After He Gave Her HIV
Wow…..
Blasted On Facebook: On May 11, a woman named Nina Ross, of Jacksonville, FL, took to Facebook with a lengthy post slamming the estranged father of her child, presumably named Zell. Apparently, Nina was sexually involved with two men since she was released from jail and both claim they did not give her the virus. Before she reportedly figured out who gave her the virus, she took to Facebook to bash both men. However, the other man she was romantically involved with – reportedly named Deon Davenport, sent her a photo of test results and, of course, she posted a photo of the screenshot

St. Louis Boy, 6, Makes Emotional Plea to End Gun Violence: ‘People Need to Stop Killing Each Other’
He’s eloquent, passionate and powerful. And he’s only 6 years old.
Jeffrey Laney of St. Louis apparently has had it up to here with the violence that he’s seen in the city.
So he’s talking about it — his frustrations and his fears — in a four-minute video that his mom posted to Facebook Live last week. Since then it’s been viewed more than 130,000 times.
“People need to stop killing each other around here because this is just making me feel bad,” Jeffrey says in the video, while standing in what appears to be a kitchen.
“I’m really serious. I’m really scared to die, and I’m really scared for my family to die. I’m scared.”
Jeffrey’s mother, Leanndra Cheatham, tells CNN the conversation that sparked his video speech was an upcoming event by James Clark, a local activist who does community outreach in St. Louis.
The violence has hit close to home for Cheatham’s family, too. She says her 16-year-old cousin was shot to death outside of his school last month.
Cheatham never imagined this video of her son would go viral.
“I post plenty of videos of him,” she said. “I never thought this could’ve happened.”
‘Gotta value life’
Cheatham thinks “it’s a little disturbing” that her son is so aware of what’s going on in St. Louis. She wants him to be able to just be a child.
“I’m a kid, and I don’t supposed to be knowing all of this stuff,” Jeffrey says in the video. “I don’t supposed to be knowing about all of these guns.”
But Cheatham says that Jeffrey sees the news and has been part of local events where gun violence is a topic.
If the video “changes the mind of a few or even if it’s just one person,” she considers that “a job well done.”
“We gotta value life,” she said.
Cheatham also says Jeffrey is excited about the video being so widely seen.
“He said, ‘Mommy, we’re going to get people to stop killing each other.’”
To this, Cheatham replied: “I believe you, son.”

Pennsylvania Woman Arrested After Allegedly Allowing Sex Offender to Sexually Assault Young Girl
A woman who police say allowed a known sex offender to abuse a child has been arrested on suspicion of endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and reckless endangerment.
The young girl was abused at a home in Overfield Township, Wyoming County, between June of 2015 and July of 2016, KTLA sister station WNEP in Scranton reported Monday, citing Pennsylvania State Police.
Investigators say Marion Keithline — who is now behind bars — was in a relationship with Eric Popejoy, a registered sex offender, at the time.
In February, police arrested Popejoy on charges including child rape.
According to court papers, the young victim told Keithline and others that Popejoy had raped her, but no one helped.
Courts documents also said that Popejoy and Keithline used Craigslist to advertise for sex partners, and the two would host orgies at the home while the child was present.
“Almost every night there was a different vehicle there and half the time she didn’t come home,” said Darryl Benedict, the suspect’s landlord.
Neighbors say when they learned Popejoy was a sex offender, they watched him closely.
“We watched the kids like crazy, didn’t let them outside to play by themselves. It was hard. It was really hard. My grandkids are here all the time,” neighbor Lisa Haraschak told WNEP. She said the whole thing “makes me sick.”
Popejoy and Keithline won’t be allowed to see the young girl anymore, according to police.
“She was alone a lot. We took her to church on Wednesday nights with us so she could get a little more group and a little more education on that behalf, and she was over here a lot of afternoons and spent time with my wife because she was not taken care of over there,” Benedict said.
Keithline is being held on $15,000 bail, while Popejoy’s bail has been set at $1 million bail.
