Dog walker killed by his own car while trying to stop it from rolling downhill
A dog walker in the UK was run over and killed by his own car while trying to stop it from rolling down a hill as his son screamed in horror, according to a report Sunday.
The 69-year-old victim had just returned from strolling with a pooch at a local park in Bolton, England on Saturday afternoon when his Kia Sportage appeared to pop out of gear and roll backward, according to the Sun, which cited footage and a witness.
The man tried to stop the vehicle by pushing it from the back — but fell and was crushed by the car, according to the outlet
“He just tripped and went under the car,” said Lee Houghton, 54, a neighbor whose home surveillance camera footage captured the tragic incident. “I haven’t been able to sleep since [seeing it], It is horrific.”
The freak accident unfolded on a quiet cul-de-sac while the victim’s 25-year-old son was sitting in the passenger’s seat of the car, the outlet reported.
“His son was screaming. He was devastated,” Houghton said. “It’s horrible. Everyone is really cut up about it.”
Paramedics rushed to the scene but the man, who was not publicly identified and believed to be from Sale, Greater Manchester, was pronounced dead.
“It was heartbreaking to see,” another neighbor said.
Greater Manchester Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen the accident.

Teacher who took photo of her foot on black student’s neck resigns
A Texas elementary school teacher who took a photo of her foot on a black student’s neck and texted it to the boy’s mother last week resigned Friday, according to a report.
The Lamar Elementary teacher in Greenville, northeast of Dallas, whose photo drew outrage from the 10-year-old student’s father and school administrators said that she used the photo as a mock threat when the student failed to turn in a homework assignment.
The teacher, who was not named, was immediately suspended after she texted the photo to the boy’s mother on Tuesday — the same day Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of the murder of George Floyd, who died after Chauvin placed his foot on his neck for nine minutes.
Although the child’s father told a local reporter that he was outraged by the “staged” photo, the mother said “I didn’t think anything of it,” in an interview with an NBC affiliate.
School administrators who suspended the teacher during their investigation last week, were planning to call a meeting next week to determine whether she should be fired. The teacher resigned Friday.

Woman facing federal charges for not returning VHS tape 21 years ago
A former Oklahoma resident got married and when she tried to change her last name on her Texas driver’s license, found out she was a wanted woman in her old state — for failing to return a VHS tape over two decades ago.
“I went to change my driver’s license, during this COVID thing you had to make an appointment, and so, I sent them an email (and) they sent me an email and they told me… that I had an issue in Oklahoma and this was the reference number for me to call this number and I did,” Caron McBride told the local Norman, Oklahoma Fox station.
McBride was bowled over when she called the number and found out she was wanted for a felony.
“The first thing (the woman answering the phone at the Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office) told me was (I was wanted for) felony embezzlement, so, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack,” McBride said.
Online documents show Caron McBride is a wanted woman for never returning a rental VHS tape of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” in 1999.
“She told me it was over the VHS tape and I had to make her repeat it because I thought, this is insane. This girl is kidding me, right? She wasn’t kidding,” McBride said.
McBride told FOX 25 she doesn’t remember ever renting the movie.
“I had lived with a young man, this was over 20 years ago. He had two kids, daughters that were 8, 10 or 11 years old, and I’m thinking he went and got it and didn’t take it back or something. I have never watched that show in my entire life, just not my cup of tea,” McBride said. “Meanwhile, I’m a wanted felon for a VHS tape.”
Documents show the movie was rented at ‘Movie Place’ in Norman, which is no longer open.
Ed Blau with Blau Law Firm told FOX 25 that while “there’s technically no victim in the case because of the business closure, Cleveland County could still prosecute the case because charges and a warrant was filed against McBride.”
Meanwhile, McBride is pleading innocence.
“I mean, I didn’t try to deceive anyone over Samantha (Sabrina) the Teenage Witch. I swear,” McBride said.

Virginia Man Shot by Sheriff’s Deputy After Calling 911 for Help
A Virginia man was shot multiple times by a sheriff’s deputy after the deputy gave him a ride home, left and then was called back to the man’s home for help.
Isaiah Brown, 32, is in intensive care with 10 bullet wounds after being shot outside his home in Spotsylvania County early Wednesday, his family says.
The home health care aide’s family told News4 they have no idea why the deputy opened fire.
“The officer just started shooting at him for no reason. I didn’t hear a warning shot. All I heard was ‘Hands up!’ one time. And all he had was his phone, so I know he put his hands up,” Isaiah Brown’s brother, Tazmon Brown, said.
State police and Brown’s siblings say Brown’s interactions with the deputy began when Brown’s car broke down at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at a gas station on Route 3, several miles from his home in the 12200 block of West Catharpin Road. The deputy, who is white, gave Brown, who is Black, a ride home.
Brown’s brother talked with the deputy when they arrived.
“He was like, ‘Your brother is fine. He’s not in trouble. His car broke down and I gave him a ride,” he said.
Not long after the deputy left, Isaiah Brown called 911.
The sheriff’s office categorized the call as a domestic situation between Isaiah Brown and a family member. A source within the county sheriff’s office said he was complaining about his brother.
Tazmon Brown said he believes his brother just wanted a ride back to his car because he was worried it might get towed.
The same deputy who helped Isaiah Brown earlier returned. Within minutes, he opened fire.
Isaiah Brown’s siblings said the deputy, whose name was not released, started shooting for no reason.
“I’m just still trying to figure out where he felt the threat at, to feel the need to shoot,” Yolanda Brown, his sister, said.
The deputy then began CPR.
The family says Isaiah Brown was in surgery and was wounded in the face, neck, chest and pelvic area.
He was unarmed, state police confirmed.
Isaiah Brown’s family said they’re frustrated that police haven’t shared more information with them. They’re seeking a lawyer and have contacted the NAACP.
State police confirmed that they have body camera footage of the shooting but said they will not release it publicly. They said they could not immediately comment on “any motive or circumstances” related to the shooting. Investigative findings will be turned over to a special prosecutor for review.

Meghan McCain defends Ohio cop who fatally shot Ma’Khia Bryant
“The View” co-host Meghan McCain defended the Ohio cop who fatally shot 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant — saying he “did what he thought he had to do.”
McCain reacted to the deadly incident in Columbus — which sparked protests in the city — after co-host Sunny Hostin compared the police response when it is a black suspect versus a white suspect, such as Atlanta spa shooting suspect Robert Aaron Long.
A sheriff’s office captain said Long had “a really bad day” and was seeking to “eliminate” a sexual “temptation” before he allegedly gunned down eight people.
“I understand everything Sunny is saying, I hear you loud and clear,” McCain responded on the show Thursday, according to The Wrap.
“I just disagree in this situation because she was about to stab another girl and I think the police officer did what he thought he had to do,” she added, referring to Ma’Khia.
“This one is harder for me, and if there’s one thing I learned from the MeToo movement, it’s that I’m going to take everything by case by case by case situation and I don’t think that everything is always comparable.”
However, the conservative columnist and television host ultimately agreed that there are issues with racism in law enforcement.
“The way I was raised is to respect authority, to respect police officers, to respect law enforcement. I have a lot of friends who are in the military and who are also police officers,” McCain said.
“But working on this show and experiencing what I’ve experienced over the past few years, no one without two brain cells in their head can understand that police tend to treat African Americans and people of color a different way than they do white people. And it’s just a fact we’re all trying to reconcile and come to terms with.”
Meanwhile, McCain also took aim at NBA star LeBron James, who had posted an inflammatory tweet about Nicholas Reardon, the officer who killed Ma’Khia, along with the ominous-sounding caption, “YOU’RE NEXT!”
The Los Angeles Lakers star deleted the tweet amid backlash, saying he took the missive down because it was “being used to create more hate.”
“But when you have people like LeBron James posting pictures of this police officer before this has been adjudicated and litigated, you’re also putting that police officer’s life in danger,” she said.
“And I would like more killing to stop in this country and violence to stop,” McCain added.

Video shows the moment NYPD cop is dragged by a car driven by freed gang member
Video from a police body camera shows the moment an NYPD lieutenant was dragged across a Brooklyn street early Friday — allegedly by a reputed gang member who’d been set free in an attempted-murder case.
The NYPD posted the 14-second clip on its official Twitter page, along with a Post report about the mayhem that Takim Newsom allegedly committed after fleeing the scene.
“Early this morning, officers from the @NYPD71Pct conducted a car stop,” the department tweeted.
“During their investigation, officers determined the driver was not fit to drive and asked him to step out of the vehicle. That’s when he put the car in reverse, running over the lieutenant.”
The unidentified officer suffered a back injury and bruises to his elbows and knees, and was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn for treatment, according to sources.
About 90 minutes after the 3:30 a.m. incident on Rockaway Parkway near Willmohr Street in Brownsville, Newson allegedly broke into a house in Far Rockaway, Queens, where his girlfriend and her mother have been living in the basement.
After allegedly terrorizing a 66-year-old woman and her son, the ex-con and reputed member of the Edgemere Crew gang allegedly stole a green Jaguar S-Type sedan whose owner left it running nearby to warm up before heading to work, sources said.
Newson was finally captured by cops in Suffolk County, Long Island, and faces charges that include assaulting a police officer, according to the NYPD.
He was nabbed at his father’s house, sources said.
Newson was free to allegedly embark on the crime spree because rookie Queens Judge Denise Johnson denied a prosecution request to lock him up without bail after cops tracked him to his mother’s house in Rocky Mount, N.C., and busted him in a Valentine’s Day bar shooting in Queens.
During Newson’s April 7 arraignment in that case, his defense lawyer said $50,000 bail would be appropriate but Johnson — who was rated “not approved by the city Bar Association before her November election — released him without requiring him to post surety.
In a prepared state, Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said, “Judge Denise Johnson’s reckless decision to release this perp without bail almost got people killed — including a cop.”
“She has demonstrated she is unfit to serve on the bench. But the problem doesn’t end there: the state’s dangerous new bail laws paved the way for this travesty of justice,” he added.
“Every lawmaker who voted for those laws must explain what they’re doing to stop this from happening again.”
Lynch’s remarks came after NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea tweeted Friday afternoon that detectives were “AGAIN searching for Takim Newson after he used a car to assault a police officer early this morning.”
A spokesman for the state court system declined to comment beyond referring back to an earlier statement that said Johnson believed “that “the least restrictive form of bail as is required by the law, was supervised release.”

White woman caught on video harassing black soldiers at IHOP
Disturbing video captures a white woman flipping out on a group of black soldiers at a Virginia IHOP after she offered to help pay for their meal — but then accused them of stealing her money.
One of the four soldiers from Fort Belvoir who ate at the nearby pancake joint recorded the incident and posted it on TikTok.
Fort Belvoir spokesman Joe Richard told the Army Times that the unidentified woman put $30 on the group’s table to pay for their meal, “which is not uncommon when people meet military personnel.”
He said “it’s a gesture as a way to thank them for their service.”
But before the woman left the restaurant, she suddenly took $24 back and left just $6 on the table.
She then returned moments later and started abusing the group of soldiers, Richard said.
“She became antagonistic, claiming the soldiers had taken her money and directed racially charged language at the soldiers,” he told the news outlet.
“You guys are … s—bags!” she said. “Are you the thin blue line, are you BLM, are you Antifa?”
The woman proceeds to sit down at their booth and block one of the soldiers from moving, the video shows.
The soldiers ask her to leave them alone before another patron — a non-uniformed man identified as a retired airman — steps in and tells her to leave the restaurant.
“Is this your restaurant? Motherf—–, I will f—– drop you! You wanna go? You wanna go?” she is heard yelling at the man.
“Oh? Drop me? Really?” he answers.
“We are committed to fostering an environment of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our force. A view of the video will show the Soldiers maintained their composure and military bearing throughout this shocking incident,” Richard told The Hill.
“The Garrison has the incident under internal review,” he added.
IHOP told the outlet in a statement that the company “and its franchisees do not condone the statements made by the guest in this video, and will not tolerate racism, bigotry or harassment of any kind.
“For more than 60 years, we have strived to create a warm and hospitable dining experience for all guests, and this isolated incident is not reflected of that ongoing commitment,” the chain added in the statement.

Man fatally shot in front of stepson after pointing gun at cops: bodycam video
Cops in California fatally shot a man who pointed a loaded gun at them in front of his terrified 7-year-old stepson — who repeatedly screamed, “He’s my dad!” during the deadly showdown, according to bodycam video.
The graphic footage, released Wednesday, shows Burbank police responding to a report of a young child wandering alone in a parking lot at a Quality Inn around 5:30 a.m. March 8.
An employee at the hotel had asked police to do a welfare check after seeing the 7-year-old by himself for about 30 minutes outside.
The footage shows an officer approaching the boy and asking where his father is, prompting the child to say his dad was going to “go get a car.”
Cops soon learned that the 7-year-old and his stepdad, David William Kahler, 30, had been involved in a car crash on a nearby freeway in a vehicle believed to have been stolen from Las Vegas — and that the pair had fled on foot before walking to the hotel, said Burbank police Lt. Derek Green.
Kahler of Las Vegas had left the boy at the hotel as he tried to break into several vehicles nearby before finally stealing a maroon Honda Accord that he ultimately drove back to the Quality Inn, Green said.
Once back at the hotel, Kahler was confronted by cops while in the Accord, video shows.
He aimed a loaded 9mm handgun at police as an officer yells, “Drop the gun!,” according to the footage.
Kahler’s stepson frantically screams, “He’s my dad! He’s my dad!” right before the gunfire, the video shows.
Green says in the video statement that “one of the officers pointed his duty weapon at the suspect and fired three times.”
The little boy, who was being held by another officer, could be heard crying after the shooting and repeating, “No, no, no.”
Kahler was pronounced dead at a hospital. His stepson was unharmed and taken into protective custody, Green said.
A criminal investigation into the incident by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is ongoing, Green said.
Kahler had an extensive criminal history, including arrests or convictions for weapons, assault, theft and drugs, Burbank police said.

Group of Texas students disciplined after they pretended to auction Black classmates in Snapchat group “N***** Auction”
(CNN) Multiple high school students in Texas are facing disciplinary action after they created a social media group pretending to auction off their Black peers.
The group, called “N***** Auction” on the app Snapchat, was started by a handful of students at the Aledo Independent School District, just outside of Fort Worth.
One student bid $100 on one student, according to a screenshot of the messages. Another wrote “1$ on Chris. Would be better if his hair wasn’t so bad.”
A screen shot where students discussed auctioning off Black students. CNN obscured parts of this image to remove derogatory language and the names of some of the students.
The district initially described the chat as “cyber bullying” with “racially charged” language in an April 5 letter to parents, but ultimately labeled it “racist” after generating backlash from some Aledo residents.
The students involved are being disciplined, the district said in a statement last week, but could not reveal exactly what that discipline is, due to legal reasons.”I know I speak for our entire Aledo community when I say that I am deeply sorry that a few of our students engaged in racial harassment of two of our students of color in a social media chat,” a message from the district sent Saturday read. “I am also deeply sorry for the hurt that it has caused the victims and their families. It was totally unacceptable to all of us, and it should not have happened.”
Aledo ISD is home to more than 6,000 students, about 78% of whom are White. Some members of the community, including Eddie Burnett, president of the NAACP Parker County, said this moment needs to be a wake-up call for the town.”I’m not saying that they are teaching racism (at Aledo), but there’s obviously an environment where that flourishes,” Burnett told CNN.
Aledo district has seen racist incidents before
The incident isn’t the only racist occurrence the district has seen.
A week after the Snapchat auction came to light, fliers announcing a “Great Sale of Slaves” appeared at multiple campuses in the district. In a statement, district officials said the Aledo ISD Police Department is reviewing security footage and investigating the situation.
Burnett said there have also been issues at other schools in the general area, citing an incident in 2018 where a noose was found hanging at Weatherford High School, less than 15 miles away from the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus, where the Snapchat incident took place.”
Now they’re not pulling people out of cars and attacking people on the sidewalk, and stuff like that,” Burnett said. “But to say that Parker County and Texas in general, doesn’t have a racial problem says to me that you’re not paying attention.”At a school board meeting this week, one parent, who only gave her first name, Maria, recounted a time when a group of students tackled her 8-year-old to the ground during a game of cops and robbers.
Her son told them he couldn’t breathe, and one of the children said “Hey, put your knee on his neck,”Maria told the board.”These were not high schoolers. There were Aledo elementary school students,” she said. “I think it’s important to share these things because the horrible actions of a few 9th grade students is not an isolated incident.”
Calls for a ‘change in behavior’
Chris Johnson, one of the students of color identified in the auction chat, spoke about the incident Monday at the school board meeting. In his brief comments, Johnson said neither the school board nor the district have apologized to him or admitted to handling the incident “wrong at first.”
“The only apology I’m accepting is a change in behavior,” Johnson said. “I know the communities are ready for change, and we will do our part. Now I’m asking the board of trustees and the superintendent: When will you make the changes needed to ensure all of us feel treated fairly and safe?
“Incidents like the racist Snapchat group can be dismissed as a joke, Burnett said, but it reveals that these students don’t understand the weight of racism.”It is dehumanization, and whether consciously or unconsciously, that is the purpose for doing it,” Burnett said. “So thinking of the students in this Snapchat … as just slaves … it’s dehumanization, and it allows the perpetrators to see them and do to them however they want.
“Moving forward, Burnett said he hopes the students involved and the community at large moves toward real change, rather than letting the situation blow over.”The one chance we have to correct this situation is to shine sunlight on it,” he said. “Bring it to everyone’s attention, and have people put pressure on the community leaders, not just in the government, the community leaders all over to tackle the problem.”

Oklahoma passes a law that can protect drivers who run over protesters
(CNN) — Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed a bill Wednesday granting immunity to drivers who unintentionally injure or kill protesters while attempting to flee and which stiffens penalties for demonstrators who block public roadways, according to the Oklahoma State Legislature.
The state Senate passed the Republican-sponsored legislation 38-10 last week. The bill makes it a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison and a $5,000 fine for anyone who obstructs a public street during the course of a protest, according to the legislation. House Bill 1674 also states that drivers cannot be held criminally or civilly liable for killing or injuring a protestor if they are “fleeing from a riot,” and there is “reasonable belief” that they are in danger.
The bill comes in the midst of a national conversation around policing, racial bias and the right to demonstration. After months of protests — some of which turned into riots — sparked by the death of George Floyd in police custody, Minnesota was again the center of large-scale demonstrations this month. Not only was a former officer convicted in Floyd’s death, but calls for justice were reignited by the fatal police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright.
The first days of the protests over Wright’s death turned chaotic as some demonstrators threw bottles and launched fireworks and officers deployed tear gas and stun guns.
“We are sending a message today in Oklahoma that rioters who threaten law abiding citizens’ safety will not be tolerated. I remain unequivocally committed to protecting every Oklahoman’s First Amendment right to peacefully protest as well as their right to feel safe in their community,” Stitt said.
A group protesting the legislation briefly gained entry to the House Chambers inside the State Capitol in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, according to CNN affiliate KFOR. The session resumed after the protestors left the Capitol building, KFOR reported.
