Asian woman stabbed to death in ‘random’ attack in California
An Asian woman was fatally stabbed while walking her dogs in California in what cops are calling a random attack.
Ke Chieh Meng, 64, was out with her two small pups in Riverside around 7:30 a.m. Saturday when she was stabbed and left on the ground bleeding, KTLA-TV reported.
Officers responding to the scene found her on the ground and transported Meng to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the station.
Meng’s suspected attacker, Darlene Stephanie Montoya, 23, was identified by police as a transient. She was arrested near the scene and charged in what police described as a “completely random” attack.
“There was nothing to suggest that the victim was attacked due to her ethnicity,” Riverside Police Department spokesman Ryan Railsback told The Post on Sunday.
“We’re going to try to research [the suspect’s] drug-abuse history and her mental-health history,” Railsback said, adding that cops are nonetheless “not closing the door on anything.”
Montoya was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder and also charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and ordered held without bail, CNN reported.
Montoya had last been arrested March 30 and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly attacking a woman with a skateboard near a local shopping center but was freed without bail due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Railsback said the victim in that case was a white woman.

Florida teacher traveled to solicit sex with 2-year-old
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida elementary school teacher is facing charges alleging he solicited online to have sex with a 2-year-old and traveled to meet the child.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Xavier Donte Alexander, 28, was arrested Thursday on felony charges of soliciting sex with a minor and traveling to meet a minor for sex. Alexander is a fourth grade teacher at Grove Park Elementary School in Palm Beach Gardens and also advertised as a babysitter on various websites.
The sheriff’s office and court clerk did not immediately release further information about the allegations. Alexander was ordered held on $1 million bond at court hearing Friday. He is being represented by the Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office, which did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
The Palm Beach County School District issued a statement saying it is “shocked and appalled” by the accusations and that it is cooperating with law enforcement. The district said Alexander has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation and that none of Alexander’s alleged crimes occurred at school. It said it notified parents and families are being offered support services.
If convicted of both charges, Alexander could get 20 years in prison.

A man returned from shopping and found an estimated 15,000 bees in his car
(CNN) — A man who went shopping in New Mexico came back to find his car was full of bees. Thousands and thousands of them.
He called 911, as anyone would do if they returned to a car full of insects.
Fortunately for him, the firefighter who responded also happened to be a beekeeper.
The man’s car was overrun by the swarm of bees after he left his window down at an Albertson’s grocery store on Sunday in Las Cruces, the fire department said on Facebook.
“Firefighters learned the owner of the car returned from shopping, placed groceries in his vehicle and started to drive off before noticing the swarm in the backseat,” the post said.
As luck would have it, one of their firemen, Jesse Johnson, is a beekeeper in his spare time, and was called upon to come to the rescue, on his day off.
Johnson was able to bring the proper equipment to deal with the bees. It took more than two hours for the bees to be removed.
The crew estimated there were more than 15,000 bees, which were relocated to Johnson’s property outside city limits.
The department said it doesn’t usually deal with bees, but it needed to act quickly for everyone’s safety.
“A security guard at Albertson’s was stung and it is possible a few patrons may have had close encounters, but no major injuries were reported,” the department said.

13-year-old boy fatally shot by Chicago police officer during ‘armed confrontation’
A Chicago police officer fatally shot a 13-year-old boy earlier this week in what authorities reportedly called an “armed confrontation.”
The teen, identified by the coroner’s office on Thursday as Adam Toledo, was shot in an alley in Little Village on Monday after cops responded to the area when gunfire was detected by ShotSpotter technology, ABC 7 Chicago reported.
Toledo, who police have said was armed, was with another suspect at the time, 21-year-old Ruben Roman, when police showed up.
The two allegedly fled, with one officer opening fire, striking Toledo once in the chest, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Toledo died at the scene. Roman was arrested and charged with resisting an officer, police said.
Police said a gun was recovered at the scene, sharing a photo of the firearm on Twitter.
Toledo’s mother, Elizabeth Toledo, questioned the use of force on her son.
“Why did he shoot at him if there’s other ways?” the mother told ABC 7 Chicago. “He was a little boy. Obviously he was gonna get scared.”
The mother said her son wanted to become a police officer when he grew up.
“He was so full of life,” she told the news station. “They just took it away from him.”
The officer involved in the shooting, the report said, has been placed on desk duty amid an investigation by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
The shooting was captured by police bodycam, but the footage cannot be released without a court order because of Toledo’s age, the report said, citing the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.

UK woman jailed for revenge-porn post mocking ex’s genitals
A jilted British woman was slapped with a three-month jail sentence for posting a nude snap of her ex-lover — making fun of his manhood by adding laughing emojis.
“What the f— is that?” Yasmin Walker, 30, wrote on Instagram, where she shared the photo with her 1,300 followers after her ex broke up with her, the Scarborough News reported.
She posted the “sarcastic” comment about his shortcomings along with the three mocking emojis, the York Crown Court heard.
The man — who was at a movie theater when he received messages about the offending post — begged Walker to remove the image, which she eventually did after he threatened to call police, according to the news outlet.
Walker — who was charged with disclosing a private sexual photo with intent to cause distress — claimed in a series of WhatsApp messages that she had shared the image “by mistake” and didn’t mean to make it public.
She was found guilty in a trial at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced at the York Crown Court on Friday.
Defense attorney Graham Parker said Walker — who had four previous convictions for offenses including battery, threatening behavior and drunken driving — said his client had been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after abusive former relationships.
Parker said Walker was beaten so badly by one man that he received a 12½-year prison sentence for the attack, which caused her to lose vision in one eye and require facial reconstruction, the Scarborough News reported.
None of the abusive relationships were with the victim in this case.
Walker had claimed her poor vision led her to click the “wrong button.” Her claim was rejected during the trial, however, according to the report.
The lawyer also said Walker had been trying to kick a nine-year marijuana habit through a substance abuse charity.
At the sentencing, Judge Sean Morris told Walker that she had “disclosed, for countless people to see, a personal and very intimate photograph with a sarcastic comment next to it.
“That was sent to him when he was in the cinema … and he had to beg you to take it down,” he said.
“I’m afraid that this kind of crime needs to be deterred because cybercrime of this type, that causes people to have their most intimate details splashed around the world, have devastating effects on people, and the public need to know that this kind of crime is serious,” Morris added.
But the judge also said he was giving her a break with a reduced sentence because of her efforts to beat the pot habit and address her other issues.
“It’s going to be a short, sharp shock so that people know revenge pornography means prison,” Morris said.

Georgia teen fatally shot during ‘target practice’ with friends
A high school senior in Georgia was fatally shot while hanging with pals in a backyard, where investigators believe they were holding target practice, sheriff officials said.
Candace Chrzan, a 17-year-old who attended Mount Zion High School in Jonesboro, died late Tuesday after being shot at the home in Mount Zion, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
“This remains an open and active investigation and all parties involved in this horrific tragedy are cooperating at this time,” the office said in a statement Wednesday.
Investigators are working with prosecutors and have yet to determine if charges will be filed in the death of the “sweet,” promising teen who picked up her graduation cap and gown earlier this week, according to a report.
“It was just a couple of friends out in the backyard, from what we have been told, possibly doing target practice with a pistol,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman Ashley Hulsey told WSB-TV. “The kids probably haven’t been taught the gun safety rules they should have been taught. And ultimately it resulted in Candace’s death.”
Investigators believe the shooting was an accident, but criminal charges in the teen’s death are possible, Hulsey told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“We don’t believe it was intentional,” Hulsey said.
Chrzan, a member of Mount Zion High School marching band, “left behind a broken-hearted community,” according to an online fundraiser set up to help offset funeral costs.
“As we all grieve, it’s time for Eagle Nation to rise up and support a family that has always supported us,” organizer Tiffany Cantrell wrote. “Let’s help put this beautiful young lady to rest and give her family peace of mind.”
Sheriff’s officials asked the public to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve the loss of a “bright young soul” and as her classmates returned to school Thursday.
Grief counselors were available to students at the school, ABC News reported.

Putin is Russia’s sexiest man, Russian poll finds
When asked who the most handsome man in their country was, 18% of Russia’s men and 17% of its women allegedly thought of their bare-breasted, horseback-riding, scandal-immune leader, Vladimir Putin.
The highly suspect and mildly terrifying poll by job board site Superjob.ru surveyed 2,000 Russians and determined that the 68-year-old bachelor is the sexiest man in the country, the Moscow Times reported.
The poll was published April 2 — not April 1.
And coincidentally, the “open-ended” survey, which was conducted in person, was published after Putin was granted permission by lawmakers to run for president until 2036.
No word yet on what happened to the 82% of men and 83% of women who didn’t vote for Putin in the poll. However, it should be noted that 19% of men named themselves as Russia’s most handsome man. And 18% of women said there does not exist a single handsome man in all the land, according to the Times.
The macho head honcho certainly has the confidence to pull off his new title.
Last month, he was photographed smirking in sheepskin during a recent Siberia vacation — days after President Biden referred to him as a “killer.” The Kremlin, which regularly hypes the leader’s outdoorsy appeal, also released thirst-trap snaps of Putin driving an all-terrain vehicle and enjoying a meal with his defense minister, Sergey Shoigu. Putin later wished Biden “good health.”
And if money’s got anything to do with it, well, he does have that going for him. Poisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny alleged in a new viral video that Putin owns an opulent, billion-dollar palace that was built with fraudulently obtained funds, according to reports.

NYPD cop illegally taped one-night stand, then blackmailed woman
A Queens woman is suing the NYPD and the city after she claims an off-duty cop recorded their one night stand without permission, then threatened to release the clips if she told anyone about the encounter.
Valentina Veleva, 35, alleges that veteran cop Miguel Delacruz recorded her giving him oral sex naked in his Jackson Heights apartment on March 14, 2017, and then told her to leave.
When Veleva tried to contact him the next morning, Delacruz sent her 12 seconds of the lurid clip, and threatened to share it if she told anyone about the encounter, as he is married with a child, court papers said.
Veleva also alleges in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that Delacruz threatened her by texting, “Got more [pornographic clips]” and claiming he “didn’t know why Valentina was complaining about it because Valentina is probably the fiftieth girl he had recorded.”
“When he sent me the first video I dropped my phone and I didn’t know how to react at that point,” Veleva told The Post by phone.
The pair had known each other for about a year as they both frequented a bar and hookah lounge in Astoria. They had sex that night after an “obviously intoxicated” Delacruz drove her back to his place, the court papers allege.
After she left at 3 a.m., Delacruz allegedly told Veleva that “he had cameras in his apartment and that he had recorded Valentina.” And he “threatened Valentina that he would disseminate the recordings if she did not keep her mouth shut,” the court filing alleges.
Upon seeing the videos, with the realization that Delacruz was “a popular guy in Valentina’s circle of friends,” she suffered, “humiliation, anxiety, terror and paranoia that Delacruz either already disseminated this … or that he soon would,” the court papers allege.
“He made fun of me and told me I’m the 50th girl that he recorded,” Veleva said. “He said he didn’t know why I made it such a big deal. I just started crying.”
“I was embarrassed, but mostly I was scared because you know how something like that can circle around on the internet,” Veleva said.
Veleva reported the incident to the NYPD, the DA’s office and even initiated a Family Court proceeding but Delacruz still hasn’t been criminally charged with unlawful surveillance, the court papers claim.
Veleva said she’s “continued to call” the DA’s office, has written to DA Melinda Katz but has been “mocked and treated unprofessionally by high level members of the Queens County District Attorney’s Office who have called her credibility into question,” the court documents allege.
Veleva also says there was a conflict of interest into the probe of Delacruz as NYPD Sergeant Cliff Nieves was assigned to look into the matter at the same time that he himself was being investigated by the DA’s office.
Nieves was arrested on Sept. 12, 2018 in a major bust of cops allegedly involved in a gambling and prostitution ring. He pleaded not guilty in that case which is still pending trial.
Veleva says the DA’s office should have recused itself from her case as it “created a clear conflict of interest by investigating both Sergeant Cliff Nieves and allowing Sergeant Cliff Nieves to investigate Delacruz; both investigated by the Public Integrity Unit,” the suit charges.
“I’m hoping that I’m going to have some kind of justice at the end of the day because it’s just not fair,” Veleva said.
“It is disgusting how the NYPD and the Queens DA mishandled this case from the beginning, and they continue to victimize this young lady by refusing to take her complaint seriously,” said her lawyer Joe Murray. “We are seeking to correct that now.”
Veleva is suing for unspecified damages.
A lawyer for Delacruz did not immediately return request for comment.
“We take every complaint of this nature very seriously, and Ms Veleva’s was no exception. This matter was thoroughly and carefully reviewed before investigators determined there was insufficient evidence to proceed with a criminal case,” a Queens DA spokesperson said.
A spokesman with the city Law Department said, “we’ll review this case.”

California shooting: Child victim was 9-year-old boy who died in mom’s arms
The youngest victim of the gunman who slaughtered four people in Orange, California was a 9-year-old boy who died in his mother’s arms, officials revealed Thursday — and the shooter knew them all through the real estate business where they all worked.
“They were all known to each other,” county District Attorney Todd Spitzer told reporters, revealing that the shooting was not random and identifying the lone shooter at an afternoon press conference as Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez.
Gonzalez, 44, of Fullerton, had “issues” with his co-workers at the location, a mobile home real estate office suite, Spitzer said.
“It appears a little boy died in his mother’s arms as she tried to save him,” the visibly angry prosecutor told reporters.
“He will suffer and face the consequences,” he added of Gonzalez, calling the “horrific rampage” death penalty-eligible.
“Our hearts today go out to the victims. We pray for one of the victims who is still in the hospital who underwent emergency procedures,” he added, an apparent reference to the boy’s mother.
Gonzalez also remains in the hospital with critical injuries after suffering a “police-involved shooting” during his arrest.
Dramatic video shows the alleged gunman being dragged from the property by police.
Officials said at the press conference that shots were still being fired when officers arrived at 5:30 p.m. local time Wednesday at the scene, a two-story office building 30 miles south of Los Angeles.
Gonzalez used bicycle-type locks to secure the gates on the north and south end of the complex’s courtyard, temporarily barring police from entering as the shots were being fired, officials said.
The suspect was shot through one of the gates, which were then forced open, they said.
Inside the courtyard, officers found the 9-year-old boy who died, being cradled by a woman who was also injured.
The three other victims — two women and a man — were found inside the office complex.
Officials said the shootings were centered on a real estate and contracting business called Unified Homes.
They recovered at the scene a semi-automatic handgun and a backpack holding pepper spray, handcuffs and ammo that are believed to belong to the suspect, officials said.
The victims, whose identities have not been released, all shared personal and business connections to Gonzalez, officials said. The child is the son of one of the employees of Unified Homes.
