‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ gets an upgrade with two new seasons by Mike Judge
(CNN) — Comedy Central on Wednesday announced “Beavis and Butt-Head” creator Mike Judge will reimagine the Gen X MTV series in two new seasons. Judge also will create additional spinoffs and specials of the animated series.
“Beavis and Butt-Head,” which first aired in 1993, quickly became a pop culture hit. It centered around two oddball teenage couch potatoes whose commentary is anything but wise.
Judge is set to write, produce and provide voice-over for both characters for Comedy Central.
“We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central” Chris McCarthy, president of Entertainment & Youth Group, said in a statement. “Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own.”
“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” Judge said in a statement.
After the first run of the series, Judge went on to create “Silicon Valley” and “King of the Hill,” and movies such as “Office Space” and “Idiocracy,” among others.

New Jersey teens beat homeless man to death, filmed lifeless body
A pair of New Jersey teens are facing a first-degree murder charge after they allegedly beat a homeless man to death and filmed his lifeless body in an alleyway, police said.
The teens, a 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old female, are accused of beating Bobby J. Hill Jr. to death in Camden last week, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
The 63-year-old Hill was found unresponsive just after midnight June 25 on the 1100 block of Kaighn Avenue with “severe” head injuries, and died at a nearby hospital shortly after, authorities said.
Cops tracked down the teens, whose names were not released because they are juveniles, through surveillance footage that showed them walking into the alley with Hill — and leaving without him several minutes later, police said.
The two teens allegedly filmed Hill’s beaten body with one of their cellphones after the attack, cops said.
Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer announced the arrest of the teens Tuesday night.

Alabama students partied despite knowing they had coronavirus
University of Alabama students recently partied around campus — despite knowing they were infected with the coronavirus, a local report said Tuesday.
Tuscaloosa Fire Chief Randy Smith said he discovered that “students or kids” with “known positives” had been attending parties in the county and city over the last few weeks.
Local outlet WBMA reported that some of the partiers were students at the University of Alabama.
The fire chief made the revelation during an agenda briefing for a Tuscaloosa City Council meeting, where lawmakers later passed an ordinance mandating that people wear masks in public places.
Smith said he believed the information to be a rumor at first — but that doctors’ offices and even the state confirmed it.
There have been 1,986 reported COVID-19 cases in the county and 38 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Statewide, there have been at least 37,536 recorded infections and 926 fatalities — but the average number of daily recorded cases has recently been surging.
More than 850 new cases were reported Tuesday, and 44 people were hospitalized. More than 20 people died, according to data from the Alabama Department of Public Health.

US buys nearly all global stock of coronavirus drug remdesivir
The US has bought almost the entire global supply of remdesivir, the anti-viral drug that can speed the recovery of patients infected with the coronavirus.
Health and Human Services Secretary announced earlier this week an agreement to secure large quantities of the medication from Gilead Sciences until September, allowing US hospitals to buy it.
“President Trump has struck an amazing deal to ensure Americans have access to the first authorized therapeutic for COVID-19,” Azar said in a statement.
“To the extent possible, we want to ensure that any American patient who needs remdesivir can get it. The Trump Administration is doing everything in our power to learn more about life-saving therapeutics for COVID-19 and secure access to these options for the American people.”
HHS said it secured more than 500,000 treatment courses of the drug.
“This represents 100 percent of Gilead’s projected production for July (94,200 treatment courses), 90 percent of production in August (174,900 treatment courses), and 90 percent of production in September (232,800 treatment courses), in addition to an allocation for clinical trials,” it said.
Remdesivir will cost $3,120 for the typical patient with private health insurance, the drugmaker said Monday, adding that it will cost hospitals about $520 per dose for privately insured patients.
The shorter, more common course of treatment would work out to $3,120, while the longer duration would cost $5,720, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The anti-viral drug is the only one approved by the European Medicines Agency to treat coronavirus patients, according to Euronews.
Another drug found to have an effect on coronavirus patients is the steroid dexamethasone, which reduces the number of deaths in the most severely ill patients by up to a third, the news outlet reported, citing British researchers.
“They’ve got access to most of the drug supply [of remdesivir], so there’s nothing for Europe,” Dr. Andrew Hill, senior visiting research fellow at Liverpool University, told the UK’s Guardian.
“This is the first major approved drug, and where is the mechanism for access? Once again we’re at the back of the queue,” he said.
Hill added the UK could still get its hands on remdesivir through what is known as a compulsory license, which overrides the intellectual property rights of the company.
That would allow the UK to purchase from generic companies in Bangladesh or India, where Gilead’s patent is not recognized, the Guardian reported.

Coronavirus patient suffers 4-hour erection from blood clot
A coronavirus patient in France suffered a four-hour erection due to a blood clot that may have been triggered by the illness, doctors have warned.
The 62-year-old man experienced the painful condition known as priapism while in the intensive care unit at a Le Chesnay hospital, according to a case report in The American Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Doctors initially applied an ice pack to the area, but after four hours his erection still had not disappeared.
Using a needle, they instead decided to drain the blood from his penis and discovered that it was full of blood clots, the report said.
Doctors said blood clots are common among coronavirus patients, but his case was the first known of priapism, which is caused by blood trapped in the penis.
“The clinical and laboratory presentation in our patient strongly suggests priapism related to SARS-CoV-2 infection,” doctors wrote.
But more research is needed into the link between the strange case of blood clotting and the virus, they said.
“Although the arguments supporting a causal link between COVID-19 and priapism are very strong in our case, reports of further cases would strengthen the evidence,” the report said.

Father makes son turn himself in after finding texts admitting to rape
A United Kingdom father marched his son to a police station after he saw texts on the teen’s phone admitting to raping a girl, according to a report.
Jonathan Evans, 47, of Pontypool, South Wales, said he encouraged his 18-year-old son, Jack, to “do the right thing” and go to the police, the Mirror reported.
“I believe you have to own what you did,” Evans told the outlet. “So I had to make it his choice. I am really proud of him for coming to the conclusion that the right thing to do was admit to it.”
Jack confessed to the January 2019 attack and police tracked down the girl, who confirmed she had been raped, according to the report.
He has been sentenced two years in a juvenile detention center and ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years, the report said.
His dad said most parents would have kept quiet, but he still “would do the same thing again.”
“I would have to because that is my moral standing on it, it is painful but it is right,” Jonathan told the Mirror.

Ohio Little Caesars delivers pizza with pepperoni swastika
An Ohio couple ordered a pizza and was horrified to open the box to find its pepperoni arranged as a swastika, according to a report.
Jason Laska said he had picked up the pie Saturday night from a Little Caesars shop in Brook Park and brought it home, WJW-TV reported.
“[My wife] turned and asked me, ‘Babe, did you order this, did they make it for you?’ And I turned around and looked at it and I could see the shock on her face and then my jaw just dropped,” Laska told the outlet.
The couple called the pizza joint, which had just closed, to complain and received a response the following day from the manager.
“[The employees] told him that it was supposed to be an internal joke that they were playing on each other and the other employee, and the pizza was never intended to go out,” Laska said.
The manager told them that employees involved were let go, but the couple said they never plan to return to the store.
“We are the type of people that support the diversity in our country, we embrace and love it. We just want to see this hate stop,” Laska’s wife, Misty, told WJW-TV.
Little Caesars confirmed in a statement that the chain fired the employees involved in the offensive incident.
“We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated,” a spokesperson told the outlet. “We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values.”

Adam Savage of ‘Mythbusters’ allegedly raped sister as a kid
Former “Mythbusters” co-host Adam Savage allegedly sexually abused his younger sister for years while calling himself the “raping blob” during the late 1970s, the woman says in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
Miranda Pacchiana, 51, claims the abuse happened when she was between 7 and 10 years old when the siblings lived in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
“Beginning in or about 1976 and continuing until approximately 1979, Adam Savage, would repeatedly rape Miranda Pacchiana and force oral sex upon her, and forced Miranda to perform oral sex on him, along with other forms of sexual abuse,” says her lawsuit, filed in Westchester Supreme Court.
The suit says Savage, who was between 9 and 12 years old at the time, would prevent Pacchiana from leaving the bed and anally rape her.
He allegedly nicknamed himself the “raping blob” while masking the abuse as a game, according to the complaint.
The 52-year-old special effects whiz is best known as the former co-host of “Mythbusters,” a Discovery Channel series that tests the validity of popular myths and legends.
Pacchiana, of Newtown, Conn., is a social worker who blogged about losing her family after coming forward about the alleged sexual abuse.
“When I first disclosed to my family that my brother had abused me as a child, I thought my whole world would change,” she wrote. “I assumed my family members would share my desire to examine what had gone wrong in our home and pursue a path toward healing together. I was sadly mistaken.”
“In fact, their behaviors left me feeling as though the abuse didn’t really matter,” she continued. “Yes, they believed me — but my family members still seemed determined to brush my trauma under the rug. Over time, I came to realize they viewed me as the problem for focusing on the abuse. Not the brother who had abused me.”
Pacchiana filed her lawsuit under the New York Child Victims Act, which opened a one-year look-back period for victims to bring claims that had already exceeded the statute of limitations. In May, the original deadline, which was set in August, was extended by five months due to coronavirus.
“The prolific abuse by Mr. Savage as alleged in the Complaint has caused irreparable damage to my client that she will live with for the rest of her life,” Pacchiana’s lawyer Jordan Merson said in a statement. “Today is the first step in the direction of healing and justice.”
Savage denied his sister’s allegations in a statement through his lawyer Andrew Brettler.
“While I hope that my sister gets the help she needs to find peace, this needs to end. For many years, she has relentlessly and falsely attacked me and other members of my family to anyone who will listen,” Savage said. “By spreading numerous untrue stories about us in pursuit of a financial bonanza, she has tortured our entire family and estranged herself from all of us. I will fight this groundless and offensive lawsuit and work to put this to rest once and for all.”

Missouri boy dies after being shot in face while sleeping
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — A Missouri boy has died after being shot in the face as he slept, according to authorities.
Police said the child was sleeping inside an apartment in Kansas City when he was struck around 2:30 a.m. The gunshots came from outside the home.
Family took him to a hospital where he died. Police do not believe this was an accident.
Detectives are working on identifying and finding suspects.
“This is a nightmare for any parent, and I can’t imagine the pain with which they’re dealing this morning. The boy was asleep. Malicious shooting with no regard for others claims another innocent life in our city,” Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said in a tweet.
This is the 92nd homicide for the year in Kansas City.

Dallas ‘Karen’ throws a fit – and food – during mask meltdown
This “Karen” threw way more than just a fit.
A Texas supermarket shopper has gone viral after tossing more than a dozen items from her grocery cart in an infantile fit of rage — all because she was asked to put a mask back on.
“I don’t give a f–k, I’m from Dallas!” the unidentified shopper ranted as she angrily flung items from her cart at least 14 times in the 27-second clip seen almost 17 million times by Monday.
She complained about “dumbass motherf—ing rules and your dumbass motherf—ing s–t,” admitting it was all “over a dumbass motherf—ing mask!” — with one clearly in her left hand.
“Put all that s–t the f–k back,” she shouted, with most of the groceries appearing to be fresh meats as she stood in the express lane despite having a cart full of items.
“I don’t give a f–k. I got a f—ing mask,” she said of the one in her hand, only further highlighting the apparent absurdity of her tirade.
She finally stormed off — yelling, “Now clean that s–t up.”
Omar Guillen, who recorded the video posted early Sunday, said it happened in a Fiesta Mart in Dallas. “She was wearing [a mask] while she was shopping but by the time she got to the checkout line she took it off and refused to put it back on,” he explained.
“She was told cops would be called but did her tantrum and left before they showed up. As for what happened after, I have no idea,” he tweeted.
It quickly went viral, in part from being shared by model Chrissy Teigen, who complained, “I’m so tired of people, man.”
It sparked dozens of outraged comments on Twitter, with most deeming her the latest “Karen,” a term for entitled women throwing tantrums.
Some just joked that even if she escapes charges — or having to pay for the ruined items — she might still live to regret her fit.
“Wait until she gets home and remembers that she needed groceries,” one person tweeted.
Another, Sage Rosenfels, agreed, saying, “To think that it takes two seconds to put on a mask, and now she has to drive to another grocery store and buy the same s–t which will take another hour or two.”
Fiesta Mart did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
