Wendy Williams Shades Taylor Swift’s Artist Of The Decade Award: ‘Taste Has Cheapened’
Wendy Williams may have just angered Taylor Swift fans after her AMAs recap on her November 25 talk show. The host admitted that while she loves Tay’s catchy songs, she doesn’t think the singer should’ve been named Artist of the Decade.
Wendy Williams had her studio audience in utter shock with her comments about Taylor Swift, following the singer’s big night at the American Music Awards on November 24. The talk show host, 55, threw shade at the Grammy-winning artist, 29, while discussing her Artist of the Decade award she was honored with at the annual show, along with five other awards. Wendy even said it’s “unforgivable” that Taylor has more AMAs than other music icons including, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince.
“Taylor Swift made history, which is unbelievable to me,” Wendy began, nothing that although she’s not the biggest “Swifty,” she’s still a fan of the “Lover” singer. “So, good for her, she won six awards. She has a total of 29 awards, which sounds unbelievable, but what sounds unforgivable is that she’s got more awards than Michael Jackson, Prince, and Madonna,” Wendy continued.
The host went on to question Taylor’s influence over this past decade. “Artist of the Decade? Is she who’s been firing you up for the last 10 years? “, she polled her studio audience. “I think taste has cheapened through the years and a lot of things… Life in general I think has cheapened,” Wendy said before she gave examples of “tattered” clothing and “poisonous” food.
Wendy concluded with a disclaimer that, “I don’t mean this in a bad way to Taylor… I appreciate her.” However, “Artist of the Decade?”, she questioned once more before moving on.
If you missed last night’s show, Taylor was honored with the coveted Artist of the Decade award after she performed a medley of her biggest hits. Legendary songwriter, Carole King presented the award to Taylor, whose parents were proudly sitting in the audience.

I made you cum nine times in one day
Your two lips should come in a vase, you rode my face
And just like that, Big Sean was trending.

Taylor Swift Big Machine Says She’s Making Stuff Up
Article via TMZ
Taylor Swift‘s claim Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta from Big Machine are blocking her from performing her own songs at the AMAs is a complete fabrication … according to the record label, which thinks she made a calculated move to harm its people.
Big Machine says it was shocked to see Taylor’s comments Thursday, and denies ever saying she could not perform at the awards show or blocking her Netflix special. It adds … “In fact, we do not have the right to keep her from performing live anywhere.”
To be fair, Swift never said BM was keeping her from performing … she specifically stated it was keeping her from performing her own songs, and using her own songs and performance footage in the Netflix documentary.
Big Machine also claims Taylor’s admitted to owing the company millions of dollars and it says it was optimistic the 2 sides were working toward resolving the issue … but then she bailed.
Instead, BM says “Taylor made a unilateral decision last night to enlist her fanbase in a calculated manner that greatly affects the safety of our employees and their families.
The label adds … “Taylor, the narrative you have created does not exist.”
Despite Big Machine’s denial, Swift’s friend, Selena Gomez, has her back 100 percent. Selena says she’s “sick and extremely angry” over the situation, and accuses the label of “greed, manipulation and power.”
Gomez says of BM … “You’ve robbed and crushed one of our best song writers of our time an opportunity to celebrate all of her music with fans and the world.” She goes on to praise Swift’s character, talent and strength … and says she knows Taylor will not stop fighting.
Halsey echoes many of the same thoughts, accusing BM of making an awful business move and being mean and vindictive. She says the label is banking on people not sticking up for Taylor … but says it’s “barking up the wrong tree.”
As we reported … Taylor’s set to be honored at the upcoming AMAs as Artist of the Decade, but as you can tell — it’s about much more than that now.

How Quitting Weed Helped Doja Cat Step Up Her Songwriting
“I’m actually reflecting on who I am as a person.”
After going viral last year with “MOOO!,” rapper Doja Cat earned her first Billboard Hot 100 hit this summer with “Juicy.” In anticipation of her upcoming sophomore album, Hot Pink, she sat down for a Los Angeles Times interview in which she spoke about stepping up her songwriting after quitting weed.
Doja admitted to being “super high all the time” while recording her last album, 2018’s Amala. “I thought it’d be cool to be that person smoking so much weed, that it was the only way to be respected,” she explained. “Then I realized ‘Oh, yeah, I can just be myself.’ I’m making so much more music now.”
For Hot Pink, Doja took a completely different approach that allowed her to write more meaningful, introspective music:
When I stopped and did this album, I’ve never been more concise and clear and levelheaded. People will love me and hate me for it: ‘Why doesn’t she sound like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about anymore?’ I used to write stuff where it didn’t matter. Now there are things I believe in, that get me excited and piss me off. I’m actually reflecting on who I am as a person.
As the LA Times points out, however, the project doesn’t shed the creativity and humor that propelled the LA native’s viral rise. On her most recent single, “Rules,” Doja name-drops Bob Dylan and Paris Hilton while calling herself a reptilian:
Bobs on me like Dylan, blondes on me like Hilton
Wendys on me like Williams, shouting, digging
Look at me like I’m alien
Bitch, I’m fucking reptilian
Meanwhile, another single titled “Bottom Bitch” samples the classic blink-182 hit, “What’s My Age Again?,” as Doja imagines herself as a pimp.
Hot Pink arrives next Friday, November 7. Doja co-produced most of the album with her longtime collaborator Yeti Beats, with additional contributions from Ben Billions and Salaam Remi.

‘Insecure’ Star Issa Rae Launches New Label With Atlantic Records
Joint venture kicks off with the release of the single “Kinda Love” by Raedio’s flagship artist TeaMarrr.
Having already conquered the world of television, Insecure star and creator Issa Rae is making moves in the music business.
On Friday (Oct. 18) it was announced that Raedio — a record label recently formed by Rae — has entered a joint venture with Atlantic Records that will kick off with today’s release of the single “Kinda Love” by Haitian-American singer-rapper TeaMarrr.
Billed as an “audio everywhere company,” Raedio will extend its influence across media by aligning its roster of talent with film and TV projects, commercials, podcasts and more, according to a press release. Rae says the label was inspired by her history of centering the work of “female, independent, or Los Angeles-based artists” like SZA, Saweetie and Jazmine Sullivan on Insecure as well as earlier projects.
“Music has always been an essential part of every project I do and working with emerging talent is a personal passion,” Rae said in a statement. “Raedio allows me to continue that work within the music industry and audio entertainment space. The Atlantic Records team are innovators in terms of shifting and shaping culture. I’m excited to join forces with them to discover new artists.”
Added Atlantic chairman & COO Julie Greenwald: “Issa Rae is a next-level, future-thinking creative force who’s been breaking down cultural barriers and conquering one field after another. She’s made music a central character in her artistic evolution, and now she’s brought all that amazing passion, inspiration, and taste to the formation of Raedio. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Issa and her team on this exciting new venture, and TeaMarrr is the perfect artist to launch with.”
TeaMarrr came to Rae’s attention with her 2018 single “One Job,” which racked up over 1.2 million streams.
In addition to signing and fostering new talent, Raedio — led by Rae’s longtime business development executive Benoni Tagoe — also provides music supervision services for HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show.

Pharrell says ‘Blurred Lines’ scandal changed his idea about sexism: ‘We live in a chauvinist culture’
Pharrell Williams is adjusting with the times and taking a step back to discuss one of his biggest pop hits.
The artist-producer and fashion mogul talked to GQ for its New Masculinity issue (released Monday) about his 2013 single, “Blurred Lines,” which he recorded with Robin Thicke and T.I. Back then, there was a controversy surrounding the record’s lyrics, which critics said degraded women, and the tune’s video, in which one of social media’s most openly sexual influencers, Emily Ratajkowski and other women frolicked in skimpy garb.
Ratajkowski called her appearannce in the music video “the bane of my existence.”
Speaking to the men’s fashion magazine, Pharrell said the Billboard award-winning record has aged terribly. He noted that much of the theme surrounding the song wouldn’t be acceptable in today’s #MeToo climate.
“I was also born in a different era, where the rules of the matrix at that time allowed a lot of things that would never fly today,” said Pharrell, 46, of his career then and now. “Advertisements that objectify women. Song content. Some of my old songs, I would never write or sing today. I get embarrassed by some of that stuff. It just took a lot of time and growth to get to that place.”
The 13-time Grammy Award-winner said it took the backlash from his infamous Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus-performed record to flip his perspective on what the song meant to people within the larger society, not just within his fan base.
“I didn’t get it at first. Because there were older white women who, when that song came on, they would behave in some of the most surprising ways ever. And I would be like, ‘wow.’ They would have me blushing,” the “Happy” singer said.
“So when there started to be an issue with it, lyrically, I was, like, ‘What are you talking about?’ There are women who really like the song and connect to the energy that just gets you up. And ‘I know you want it’ — women sing those kinds of lyrics all the time. So it’s like, ‘What’s rapey about that?’”
The Virginia Beach, Va., native said: “And then I realized that there are men who use that same language when taking advantage of a woman, and it doesn’t matter that that’s not my behavior. Or the way I think about things. It just matters how it affects women,”
“And I was like, ‘Got it. I get it.’ Cool. My mind opened up to what was actually being said in the song and how it could make someone feel. Even though it wasn’t the majority, it didn’t matter.”
He continued: “I cared what they were feeling, too. I realized that we live in a chauvinist culture in our country.
“Hadn’t realized that. Didn’t realize that some of my songs catered to that. So that blew my mind.”
