Wendy Williams ditches party at the last minute to avoid Lil’ Kim
Wendy Williams caused some drama by pulling out of Us Weekly’s Most Stylish New Yorkers party just hours before the event, Page Six is told.
And while some insiders say it’s “a mystery” why she ditched the appearance, another source says she decided not to show after discovering that her nemesis, Lil’ Kim, was also set to be honored at the event.
We’re told there had been much negotiation between the scandal-struck chat-show host’s team and the event’s organizers in the run-up to the big night, with Williams agreeing to appear in return for being included on the list.
And when her team told the tabloid on the morning of the event that she had to drop out because of a “scheduling conflict,” the stunned staff made a flurry of calls in an attempt to get her to change her mind.
Insiders say arrangements had already been made to make sure that Williams and Lil’ Kim — who have traded barbs about the rapper’s plastic surgery and Williams’ alleged fling with Kim’s ex, Biggie Smalls — weren’t seated close to each other at the event at Cathédrale at Moxy East Village.
Apparently, all the other honorees showed up as planned. They included La La Anthony, Coco Austin and Ice-T and Sara Haines.
Reps for Us Weekly and Williams didn’t get back to us.

Eazy-E Gets a New, Extravagant Tombstone on 55th Birthday
Eazy-E would’ve been happy about this — his family just put in a new tombstone over his grave that’s worthy of his excellence … and that’s properly fact-checked too.
The unveiling of E’s new headstone went down Saturday at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Whittier, CA — where his kids, friends, fam and die-hard fans came out to show the world a newly commissioned engraving that was way more decked out than his OG slab.
It also included his correct date of birth, with the right year … 1964, not 1963 as his tombstone had indicated for years since he was buried in the ’90s.
Besides that, the headstone is truly a work of art — with photos of Eazy from his NWA days, and a new title that reads, “The Godfather of Gangsta Rap.” It includes the same line from his old tombstone — “We loved him, but God loved him more” — but has an additional remembrance as well … “He Put Compton On The Map.” Yep, he sure did.
Eazy’s kids have told the media that this is something they’ve wanted to do for a long time for their dad, as the old grave site was, frankly, not up to par … not to mention misleading.
What makes the day so special in addition to the new headstone itself is the fact that it was put on display on what would’ve been Eazy’s 55th birthday. People were certainly in a celebratory mood too, as the crowd rapped his lyrics and released doves to boot.
We talked to the creator of the new tombstone, and he told us about the pressure he felt in creating this new one in the ground. Looks like he did a job well done, ’cause his daughter was pretty ecstatic with how it all played out.
The rapper died in 1995 from complications due to HIV/AIDS. He was only 30 years old.

Drunk man breaks into home, cooks meal, tells homeowner to ‘go back to sleep’
Meredith) – A 19-year-old man is accused of breaking into a Florida home, cooking himself a meal and telling the alarmed homeowner to “go back to sleep,” according to authorities.
The suspect, identified as Gavin Crim, entered the home in Safety Harbor through an unlocked rear door around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, WTVT reported. He then began cooking and eating food inside the house, which alarmed the person who lives there.
After Crim told the homeowner to “go back to sleep,” the homeowner threatened to call 911, according to an arrest report obtained by WTVT. Crim then ran away from the home.
Pinellas County deputies later found Crim hiding in a wooded area behind the property, WFLA reported. His arrest report states he was under the influence of alcohol.
Crim, who is a Marine, was booked into the Pinellas County jail on a burglary charge. He was released Wednesday on a $1,000 bond, according to online jail records.

R. Kelly’s daughter says she doesn’t have a relationship with him
“People (want) to work with me to spite him or people (don’t want) to work with me just because of who he is,” Buku Abi said of pursuing her own music career.
NEW YORK — For a long time, Buku Abi ran away from pursuing music.
Although she is the daughter of one of pop music’s most popular and successful singer-songwriters, her father is also among the most infamous: He is R. Kelly, currently in jail, facing multiple charges of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
“I think you get to see a different side of it than somebody who sees it from the outside and gets to see the glitz and glam. I got to see the hell part of it,” said 21-year-old Abi, born Joann Kelly, in a recent interview with The Associated Press. “I didn’t want to be in the industry.”
Even before she was born, her father was under scrutiny for his interactions with young women: He had secretly married his then-protege, Aaliyah, when the late R&B sensation was just 15 in 1994. But by the time Abi was a child, while Kelly was still a multiplatinum star raking up hit after hit, he was also on trial, accused of child pornography (he would eventually be acquitted in 2008).
Abi said going to public school for the first time as an early teen was challenging — there she heard stories about her father that she had not heard before.
“At home it’s normal, you’re living a life with your parents; your dad and mom aren’t going to go into all the bad things that might be going on outside of home,” she said, “but kids in school don’t necessarily care. Fifth and sixth grade is when I started learning the sore part of it, the not so good part. I think that was the hardest part for me because for so long I went with this image of who my dad (was) and what my family (was).”
Things were so bad in school, she even contemplated suicide. But though school is where her life almost ended, it’s also where she felt it truly began: She recalls singing onstage in high school during a performance, which she said “literally felt like drugs.”
“I needed more of this,” she added. “Clearly I can’t keep running from this anymore. Ever since then, I’ve been in it and it’s literally saved my life.”
Entering the music business comes with a different challenge for Abi: She can’t escape the fact that R. Kelly is her father. She is no longer in touch with him and says being his daughter is like “a double-edged sword.”
“I definitely run across challenges — people wanting to work with me to spite him or people not wanting to work with me just because of who he is,” she said. “I’ve definitely come across turmoil … being judged for really no reason at all, just based off associations. I’ve been pushing through it. Me making the art, it saved my life so there’s nothing really that would be able to stop me.”
Abi decided not to use the name her parents gave her in her career. She settled on the stage name Buku Abi about three years ago after first going by the name Ariirayé. In the last five years she’s been hard at work on her debut EP, “Don’t Call Me,” released this March. Her sister Jaah Kelly produced the album, which echoes SZA and other millennial artists in the alternative R&B world.
When it comes to making music, she doesn’t deny that’s where she and her father connect: “There’s a lot about him as an artist that inspires me.”
“He has made mistakes in his life and other things that he’s dealing with, but when it comes to that, I can’t take that away from him,” she said. “That’s the one thing that will always keep us connected.”
Abi once thought she and her father would mend things. Under her former stage name Ariirayé, she collaborated with him on the song “Wanna Be There,” a plea to restore their broken relationship. It appears on his 2015 album, “The Buffet.”
“When you conquer the world I just wanna be there/But no matter how successful baby girl/When you need someone to lean on I just wanna be your shoulder,” R. Kelly sings to Abi on the song.
“At that time I was in a place where I was genuinely trying to have a relationship with my father,” she said. “But it was so complicated at that time, as it always is. It was a great experience, I’m glad that I did it, but it just wasn’t like what everybody assumed, and that’s the part that sucks. It wasn’t this big kumbaya moment.”
R. Kelly is currently in a Chicago jail. He pleaded not guilty in federal court to charges that he sexually abused women and girls who attended his concerts there. He has been accused of using his fame to recruit young women and girls into illegal sexual activity, and has also been charged in Chicago and Minnesota for separate incidents. While he had been dogged by allegations that he abused women for years (a charge he denies), scrutiny from January’s highly rated Lifetime documentary “Surviving R. Kelly,” which detailed multiple allegations against him, led to new investigations and new charges (among his legal troubles is also a backlog in child support for his children, including Abi).
Abi said she tries not to pay attention to the daily updates about her father: “I don’t let that be a part of my every day (life).”
“(We) don’t have a relationship, so it’s not like me to check in on him,” she said. “I don’t personally go look it all up and read. I keep myself out of it.”
Abi currently lives in Atlanta and appeared on the WEtv reality series “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” alongside her mother and R. Kelly’s ex-wife, choreographer Drea Kelly.
“Just watching my baby grow into this young woman and be unapologetic about who she is and what she stands for and what she believes, really just being her own artist and owning her artistry and not coming out trying to be or ride the tail of being R. Kelly’s daughter — she’s really going at this alone and that’s what brings her pride,” Drea Kelly said. “I’m elated.”
But Drea Kelly, who was featured in “Surviving R. Kelly” and has accused her former husband of domestic abuse, has also been disheartened by what she sees as the public blaming Abi for Kelly’s alleged misdeeds.
“If your mom has an addiction, should everybody judge you off your mom’s addiction? … Everyone would say no, but then why is it OK for people to do it to my children simply because of who he is?” said Kelly, who has three children with the singer. “I’ve taught Buku, I’ve taught all my children … you don’t wait for the world to give you a shot, you go out there and take your shot.”
Abi says the foul words she heard in school that almost caused her to end her life has prepared her for what’s to come: “Growing up has given me an armor, almost.”
“I just want people to know that, at the end of the day, the stereotypes that you may have for other people, whether it be about race, sexuality, their financial status, don’t judge a book by its cover because nine times out of 10 you’re completely wrong,” she said. “I want to be an example of that.”

Iggy Azalea shares controversial view of cultural appropriation, response to nude photo hack
Iggy Azalea is back, and she’s just as controversial as ever.
The 29-year-old Australian rapper, who made a splash on the music scene five years ago with her mega-hit “Fancy,” sat down with Cosmopolitan to discuss how her life has changed in recent years.
In the wide-ranging interview, Azalea reflected on past backlash she’s received for things like her look, which some have deemed an appropriation of black culture, and racist tweets that resurfaced during her run in the limelight. While she didn’t address the tweets head-on, she did respond to claims of cultural appropriation.
In true Azalea style, her thoughts were controversial. She said cultural appropriation is subjective and she isn’t that sorry for her past behavior.
“You could ask one person of the same race, ‘Does this affect you?’ and they will say yes,” she said. “But another person will say no. They could be from the same place, same everything, but have different perspectives about it.”
She added: “I’m still going to make the same type of music and still be ridiculous and larger than life,” she said. “So I can’t be that (expletive) sorry about it.”
Azalea also reflected on when she went to a mental health retreat in Arizona, imposed on her by her management team.
“They just didn’t want me to (expletive) up my own life, basically,” she said, noting she needed a break from the chaos. “I just couldn’t get out of functioning at this insanity level. Where you’re like, ‘Whoa, hold on, don’t operate the vehicle.’ ”
Azalea also spoke out when outtakes from her GQ Australia shoot were stolen earlier this summer. The leaked images showed her naked and were shared online, she said. She posted on social media about her frustrations, but she told Cosmopolitan many people didn’t relate to her response because she’s done racy shoots in the past.
“That’s the problem with you understanding consent,” she said. “When somebody else chooses for me, that’s not consensual.”
In July, Azalea’s second album finally arrived, without a high-charting lead single or the momentum of her debut. The title of her sophomore release, “In My Defense,” reads like a response to the years of delays and drama that preceded it.

A$AP Rocky is Out and About, Crashes Kanye’s Sunday Service and Checks Out His Ex GF Kendell Jenner
A$AP Rocky is showing his gratitude to one Kanye West for trying to get him out of Swedish custody … by showing up on a Sunday and partaking in worship.
The just-released rapper was in attendance Sunday for Ye’s weekly Sunday Service, where he was wearing a jacket in the hot sun — but appeared to be in great spirits. He was filmed talking to his old flame, Kendall Jenner, and they seemed pretty chummy.
Kendall and A$AP have history together, they were dating on and off for a number of years. They haven’t been seen in a romantic capacity since early 2017.
A$AP was also photographed chatting up Kanye himself, who was decked out in his usual Sunday Service gear. Some thank-yous were probably exchanged … and for good reason.
As we reported … Kanye was part of the initial push to get A$AP’s legal predicament on President Trump‘s radar, before he was eventually freed last week pending a verdict. We’re told Ye’s got a direct line to the Oval, and that he suggested Trump talk to the Swedish PM.
A panel of judges decided to release A$AP while a decision is made in his assault case, which wrapped up Thursday after a three-day trial. Rocky touched down in L.A. early Saturday morning, and seemed ecstatic to be finally be home after a month in jail.
A$AP testified that he and his crew were acting in self-defense, and that they tried to diffuse the situation with the alleged victim before things got violent.
The Swedish prosecutor recommended a 6-month jail sentence — a decision is expected to be made on his fate on August 14, when he has to come back to Sweden.

Philadelphia police search for 60 teens seen looting Philadelphia Walgreens
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police have released surveillance video showing a group of teenagers damaging a Walgreens pharmacy on July 4.
It happened around 10 p.m. at the store on the 1800 block of South Street.
Police said approximately 60 young men and women ran into the Walgreens, knocked items from shelves, and then stole merchandise.
The video, released Tuesday, shows some members of the group throwing items at store employees. Police said the employees suffered injuries.
Captain Sekou Kinebrew of the Philadelphia Police Department told reporters after the incident that a cashier attempted to intervene and he was hit in a head with a glass bottle.
“Between the things that they stole and the property damaged inside, it’s between $6,000 and $7,000 in damage,” said Captain Kinebrew.
Before reaching the 1800 block of South Street, teens could be seen on surveillance video stopping traffic, crowding and running along the street.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
