Cop shot unarmed black man within 10 seconds of encounter, bodycam video shows
Shocking bodycam video shows a police officer in Columbus, Ohio, gunning down an unarmed black man holding a cellphone — opening fire within just 10 seconds of encountering him.
Columbus police officer Adam Coy was dispatched around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to a non-emergency call about a man who had been idling a car, repeatedly turning it on and off in the Cranbrook neighborhood.
Shortly after the officers arrived, a black man later identified as Andre Maurice Hill, 47, who had been inside a garage, approached them on foot while holding a phone in his left hand and his other hand not visible.
Footage from Coy’s body camera then showed him opening fire on Hill, just six seconds after Hill entered the frame.
No audio is available since Coy did not activate his body camera until after the shooting, which only captured video due to an automatic “look back” feature.
Without audio, it’s unclear whether Coy yelled any commands at Hill.
Hill’s right hand isn’t visible in the footage, but authorities said no weapon was recovered from the scene.
After being shot, Hill lay on the ground for several minutes without any officer on the scene providing aid. He died less than an hour later at a nearby hospital.
In a statement, Police Chief Thomas Quinlan called it “a tragedy on many levels. Most importantly, a life has been lost.”
Quinlan said he has suspended Coy, a 17-year veteran, requiring him to turn in his gun and shield pending an internal review and an investigation by state authorities.
According to his union contract, the officer will still be paid.
“In this case the chief of police directly observed what he believes to be potential critical misconduct and is taking an intervening action of relief of duty until a disciplinary investigation can be completed,” said Glenn McEntyre, a spokeman for the city’s Department of Public Safety.
Public Safety Director Ned Pettus Jr. on Wednesday promised “a fair, impartial hearing” for Coy.
Mayor Andrew Ginther on Wednesday called for Coy to be booted from the force.
“After further review of the incident, today, I’m calling for the immediate termination of Coy … who failed on two directives: not turning on his body-worn camera, and failure to offer aid after the shooting and not rendering aid,” Ginther said.
Meanwhile, Hill’s family has hired nationally known civil rights attorney Ben Crump to represent them, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

‘Incredibly inappropriate’ teacher, 28, ‘covered classroom windows, had sex with teen boy student more than 100 times’
Kate Boozer, a Lake Orion, Michigan, Spanish teacher, allegedly sexually abused her 16-year-old student more than 100 times, the Daily Star reports.
The student, Ryan Crue, has come forward years later and publicly accused Kate Boozer, saying she began sexually preying upon him when she was a 28-year-old teacher in 2014.
The alleged abuse took place at Lake Orion High School. The local sheriff’s department has thoroughly investigated the matter, however, and decided not to press charges against the teacher
Crue, now a young man, told Fox 2 Detroit that Kate Boozer’s campaign of sexual abuse began when the teacher instigated a “physical interaction that was incredibly inappropriate” after school one afternoon.
Allegedly abusive teacher Kate Boozer made certain that no one saw her inappropriate conduct with the boy.
She enlisted Crue’s help in covering the windows, he said, with “big sheets of black construction paper.”
The two saw to it that they covered “every window in the classroom including even the small notch window in the door so there was no way to see in the classroom.”
Boozer and her attorney told Fox 2 Detroit in a statement, “This matter came up and there was an investigation done by the Oakland County Sheriff. The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the investigation and declined to authorize charges against my client. As far as we are concerned, the case is closed.”
Fox 2 Detroit reports that during his time at the high school, Crue was a stand-out scholar and athlete who played varsity basketball.
Crue reports that when it comes to his memories of that time in his life when he thrived at school yet was preyed upon for sex by his teacher, Kate Boozer, “I have some pretty good ones and I have some that are pretty haunting.”
He reports that Kate Boozer seduced him more than 100 times, sometimes in the teacher’s classroom, sometimes elsewhere.
As evidence of the inappropriate relationship that Boozer maintained with him, Crue showed Fox 2 records of phone calls they exchanged at all hours.
News Break reports that according to Crue’s mother, he was a big fan of attending sports events at his high school in those days.
Lake Orion Schools provided Fox 2 Detroit with a statement about the sexual abuse allegations that Crue has levied at his former teacher, Kate Boozer.
It read: “Lake Orion Schools promptly investigated the allegation at the time it was brought to the district including cooperation with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.”
According to the school district, the last time alleged sex abuser Kate Boozer was a teacher there was in 2016.
In a recent similar case Knewz reported on, 31-year-old Springfield, Oregon high school basketball coach Lisa DeFluri was taken into custody on suspicion of sex abuse at her school.

Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church received $4.4M COVID-19 PPP loan
Multimillionaire televangelist Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Texas netted $4.4 million in bailouts through the federal COVID-19 relief program, records show.
The Houston megachurch, the largest in the nation with 52,000 weekly congregants, received the forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loan in late July, the Houston Business Journal reported Sunday.
The loan was the third-highest in the Houston area during all of July and August, the outlet noted, citing federal data.
Lakewood’s PPP check went to 368 full- and part-time employees, spokesman Donald Iloff told the Houston Business Journal.
He said in-person services that were suspended from March 15 through Oct. 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic impacted “its ability to collect substantial donations during those services.”
“Believing the shutdown would only last a few weeks, Lakewood did not initially apply for PPP assistance during the first half of the program,” Iloff said in a statement. “However, as the shutdown persisted month after month, given the economic uncertainty, Lakewood finally applied for the PPP loan and has been able to provide full salaries and benefits including health insurance coverage to all of its employees and their families.”
He added, “It is important to note that, since 2004, Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen have not received salaries from Lakewood Church, and the PPP funds do not provide any personal financial benefit to them, whatsoever.”
Osteen — whose sermons are seen around the world — is worth an estimated $100 million. He took the helm of Lakewood Church following the death of his dad, founding pastor John Osteen, in 1999.
The toothy televangelist had teamed up with Kanye West to host Lakewood Church’s virtual Easter Sunday service in April — but West’s appearance fell through due to social distancing issues, TMZ reported.
The service, however, was still star-studded, with performances by Mariah Carey and words from Tyler Perry.
The best-selling author came under fire in 2017 following accusations that he refused to open up his megachurch to Tropical Storm Harvey victims.
The Small Business Administration said it’s approved more than 5 million loans through the $525 billion program, which ended in August.
Recipients included small businesses — as well as thousands of churches and other religious organizations and private schools.
About 1,500 religious organizations in the Houston area were approved for PPP loans, with 20 receiving loans of more than $1 million, the Houston Business Journal said.
A slew of businesses that received PPP loans — designed to help keep small businesses in operation — opted to return them, including Shake Shack, news website Axios and more than a dozen publicly traded companies.
Iloff didn’t immediately return a message from The Post.

Rapper Juvenile Now Making A Living Selling House Lamps, Rapper Announced His Latest Business Venture ‘Made By Juvie’ Is Now Open
“You a paper chaser, you got cha’ block on fire. You know what it is. You make nothin’ out of somethin’…” an excerpt from the chorus of the hit single “Ha” which introduced the world to the southern-inflected flow of New Orleans’ Juvenile. In the years to follow, the Cash Money rapper would take over “for the 99 and the 2000” as he made women everywhere “Back That Thang Up” with a string of hits and guest appearances alongside the Hot Boys and Cash Money crew.
His last big splash came from the smooth earworm, “Slow Motion” which dominated Urban radio airwaves for an extended stretch in the early-mid Aughts. What’s the 400 Degrees emcee up to now you ask?
The old spiritual tune, This Little Light of Mine proves most apt now – Juvie is selling custom-made lamps and light fixtures. The Magnolia Projects rapper now exercises his artistic talents in a venture that might rival the likes of Crate and Barrel and Urban Home.
The newfound entrepreneurial streak, titled Made By Juvie offers a variety of custom lamps artisanal tables, protective masks, liquid dispensers and more. Much of the website’s inventory comes at a hefty price tag, a measure of their relative value.
It should be noted that Juvenile is quite proud of his handiwork; he’s made a slew of dazzling Instagram posts featuring segments of his offerings for his 500,000 followers.
The reception has seemingly been positive thus far. Many have commented favorably on Juvie’s transition from being a famous rapper to a proud business owner. ‘Nolia claps resound praising the innovative designs: fashion lamps in the likeness of robots, rifles, and rocketships as well an evasion of the stereotypical celebrity post-pinnacle demise: the lifestyle of drug addiction, depression and dependency.
After suffering a major personal tragedy in the passing of his 4-year-old daughter Jelani, who lost her life alongside her mother and sister in 2008, a successful post-music career and lifestyle is well-deserved and celebrated. As so many suffer in cautionary tales in Hip-Hop…and entertainment in general, fans are finding Made By Juvie at worst, a refreshing surprise and perhaps better, a financial inspiration to others exiting the rap game.
Coming out of New Orleans’ infamous Magnolia Projects and recording 16 albums in a solo or collaborative capacity, Juvenile has bolstered several to Multi-Platinum and Gold level sales. An opportunity to find a new passion and make it commercially viable is an aspiration of many fighting to get out of America’s capitalist rat race.
Kudos to you Juvie; Kudos to us all.

NYC synagogue fined $15K for hosting massive, maskless wedding
City Hall will levy a $15,000 fine against the Brooklyn synagogue that broke social distancing regulations by hosting thousands at a clandestine wedding for the grandson of a top religious official in the Hasidic community, Mayor Bill de Blasio said late Monday.
Hizzoner announced the fine and summons the day after The Post exposed how thousands packed into the Yetev Lev temple in South Williamsburg on Nov. 8 — dancing and singing at the top of their lungs with nary a mask in sight as they celebrate the nuptials of Yoel Teitelbaum, the grandson of Satmar Grand Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum.
“That’s just not acceptable, I mean, we’ve been through so much,” de Blasio told New York 1’s Errol Louis during his regular Monday appearance on ‘Inside City Hall.’ “This was amazingly irresponsible, just unacceptable.”
De Blasio said that while it remains unclear just how many people packed 7,000-person capacity Satmar schul in South Williamsburg, it was obvious that the social distancing and mask-wearing measures ordered by city and state officials were blatantly broken.
The Post obtained videos of the crowds and revealed that extensive measures that organizers took to prevent word of the wedding from leaking out to City Hall after officials kiboshed a similar celebration for the grandson of a competing Satmar sect, fearing the mass indoor gathering could fuel a new coronavirus outbreak.
“There appeared to be a real effort to conceal it which is absolutely unacceptable,” de Blasio told Louis. “There will be a summons for $15,000 immediately for that site and there could be additional consequences quite soon as well.”
Despite the COVID-19’s awful toll in ultra-Orthodox communities, officials have struggled to convince residents and local businesses to abide by mask rules and social distancing regulations.
In turn, several of those neighborhoods were at the center of the city’s first major coronavirus outbreak this fall, leading Gov. Andrew Cuomo to impose ‘red zone’ shutdown rules over some of the area to try to contain the spread. That triggered raucous protests that turned violent, including attacks on reporters.
In a horrendous irony, the Yetev Lev’s own president, R’Mayer Zelig Rispler, who openly urged Brooklyn’s Orthodox community to abide by coronavirus safety measures, died of COVID-19 last month at age 70.

Cardi B Decides to Call Off Divorce From Rapper Husband Offset
I Personally Spoke to Cardi B concerning her Divorce from Offset, and here is what she had to say!
Article via Extra
Over a month after she filed for divorce from Offset, rapper Cardi B has filed to dismiss her divorce.
In papers obtained by “Extra,” Cardi submitted the request to dismiss her case “without prejudice” on November 1 in Atlanta.
Her request, which comes a few days before a court hearing, means that she is able to refile at a later date.
A judge has not signed off yet.
In September, Cardi filed divorce, noting that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” in papers obtained by “Extra.” At the time, Cardi and Offet were in a “bona fide state of separation.”
Weeks ago, Cardi explained why she reconciled with Offset, telling her Instagram followers, “I just be starting to miss [him]. It’s hard not to talk to your best friend. And it’s really hard to have no d**k.”
Reconciliation rumors started swirling after they were spotted looking every bit the couple at her 28th birthday celebration in Las Vegas. He also gifted her with a Rolls-Royce truck and an $8,000 leather car seat for their daughter Kulture.
Two years ago, Cardi and Offset called it quits. In a now-deleted video, she said, “So everybody been bugging me and everything and you know I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now. We are really good friends and we are really good business partners — you know he’s always somebody that I run to to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
“It’s nobody fault. I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore,” Cardi continued. “I don’t know, it might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father.”

Offset went through great measures to win Cardi back, including crashing her set at the Rolling Loud Festival at the Banc of California Stadium in L.A. In a video, Offset also apologized to Cardi, saying, “I only got one birthday wish and that’s to get my wife back Cardi. We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy.”
Offset acknowledged his behavior, saying, “I was partaking in activity that I shouldn’t have been partaking in, and I apologize. You know what I’m saying? For breaking your heart, for breaking our promise, for breaking God’s promise and being a selfish, messed up husband. I’m trying to be a better person. I want to get this off my shoulders. I want to get this off my back. I apologize to you Cardi. I love you.”
The pair reconciled in early 2019. She told “Extra” over Super Bowl weekend, “We’re working things out… work in progress.”
