Charlamagne Tha God Says He Canceled Kanye Interview Because Kanye’s Off His Meds

ALL Things HipHop, Interviews, Talk Shows

Last week, radio host Charlamagne Tha God and Kanye West were meant to have a live interview for a TimesTalk on mental illness. That interview, however, was abruptly canceled just two days prior with Charlamagne saying it was his decision to scrap the interview because “to have that conversation with him right now would not be productive.” Charlamagne has now elaborated that point to Stephen Colbert, saying he doesn’t think it’s right for anyone to discuss mental health with Kanye when Kanye is no longer taking his medication for bipolar disorder, which Kanye said he was when they previously spoke on the subject earlier this year. “I think he needs to figure that out,” Charlamagne says. The decision to ax the interview came two days after Kanye met with Trump claiming to be misdiagnosed; Charlamagne then called Kanye’s people to inform them the interview was no longer happening and says they were “relieved,” but also made him break the news to Kanye himself. According to Charlamagne, Kanye’s trip to Uganda wasn’t the reason for the cancellation.

Coco breast-fed daughter while cops arrested Ice-T

Actors, ALL Things HipHop

Ice-T was busted on Wednesday for blowing through a toll without paying at the George Washington Bridge as he was headed into the Big Apple, police said.

But the star — and his wife, Coco, who witnessed the arrest — were so calm, she even began breast-feeding their baby on the side of the road, a source exclusively told “Page Six TV.”

The “Law & Order” star was busted at about 6:56 a.m. by Port Authority Police, who alleged the McLaren sports car he was driving was not registered and didn’t have license plates.

A spy on the scene told “Page Six TV” that Coco and their baby “were in a blue Range Rover behind him when he was arrested. She got out of her car. Everyone was calm, especially Coco, who proceeded to breast-feed their daughter — taking her breast out and getting to work!”

The iconic rapper-actor was processed and released, according to police.

Ice-T told TMZ that he’d forgotten his E-ZPass since he has so many sports cars.

He went straight to the set of “Law & Order: SVU” after his release.

Tune into “Page Six TV” for all the juicy details!

Kim Kardashian Admits Kanye’s Pro-Trump Stance Has Its Benefits

ALL Things HipHop, News & Info

Hmm, Kim, do tell…

Despite Kanye West and President Trump’s increasingly chummy (and just plain baffling) relationship, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, has spoken out numerous times about how she doesn’t agree with his political ideology. She previously said, for instance, how she “cried” and “fought” over West’s comments about slavery, and also asserted that West isn’t well-informed about the intricacies surrounding Trump’s administration. However, in a new interview with Richardson magazine, Kardashian admitted the men’s relationship has afforded her opportunities that wouldn’t be otherwise possible, so she’s just going to keep her head down and try to do good.

“I am aware that Kanye speaking out in favor of Trump got me through the door — got him to pick up my call,” Kardashian explained. “I’ve always had different opinions than Kanye. But when I went there, and when I saw what could be done, I realized that I could get more done if I just stayed focused on the issue I was passionate about instead of complaining.” While not directly naming it, Kardashian was referring to her White House meeting with Trump about prison reform earlier this year, where Kardashian plead her case to grant clemency to Alice Johnson — a 63-year-old who was sentenced to life in prison without parole for a first-time, nonviolent drug offense. Trump pardoned Johnson a week later, but not before the meme factory churned out some content to forever immortalize the tête-à-tête.

T.I. says his patience for Kanye West is dead and gone after Trump meeting

ALL Things HipHop

(CNN)As recently as May, rapper T.I. was still firmly on Team Kanye, but that ended Thursday with the latter’s much-publicized trip to the White House.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, T.I. said he’s been “extremely patient and made it a point to not jump to any premature conclusions about” West and “his antics,” but said West’s meeting with the president was something of a last straw.
“This is the most repulsive, disgraceful, embarrassing act of desperation & auctioning off of one’s soul to gain power I’ve ever seen,” he wrote.
T.I. claims West invited him to accompany him to the White House, but he declined the offer. His post indicates he has no regrets about that decision.
“I refuse to associate myself with something so vile, weak, & inconsiderate to the effect this has on the greater good of ALL OUR PEOPLE!!!!” T.I. wrote. “At one time it was a pleasure to work alongside you… now, I’m ashamed to have ever been associated with you.”
T.I. and West previously paired up on “Ye vs. The People,” a song in which they debate West’s support of President Trump.
To West’s fans and music colleagues, T.I. added, “Don’t follow this puppet. Because as long as I’ve lived I’ve learned that it benefits a man nothing at all to gain the world, if to do so he must lose his soul. We just saw Mr. West’s Soul on auction. If you listen closely you can hear the tears of our ancestors hit the floor. All I can say is… I’ve reached my limits.”
The rapper wasn’t the only one to slam West’s meeting with Trump.
50 Cent, Diddy and Jeffrey Wright also had sharply worded comments about the pair’s meeting.
Director Ava DuVernay, meanwhlie, attempted to refocus the public’s attention, tweeting a series of articles about the hurricane destruction in Florida, the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the accusations of minority voter suppression in Georgia.
“Don’t let the circus distract you. We have to focus,” she wrote. “Our future depends on it.”

Lil Wayne Claps Back At Eli Manning & Frank Isola: “Keep My Name Out Your Mouth”

ALL Things HipHop

Lil Wayne lays down the law.

On Sunday, Odell Beckham Jr. and Lil Wayne sat across the table from ESPN’s Josina Anderson for an honest interview about Eli Manning and The Giants early-season woes. While many appreciated the no-nonsense candor, a reporter by the name of Frank Isola and Eli Manning himself took issue with Weezy’s presence during the interview. Isola claimed it was difficult to take Beckham Jr. seriously while sitting next to Lil Wayne, while Manning seemed to dismiss Weezy entirely.

Now, fresh off the celebration of Tha Carter V’s rampant success, Wayne has taken a moment to address a few detractors, primarily Frank Isola and Eli Manning. Tunechi uploaded a seven part video on IG, in which he broke it down accordingly. “Frank, I know you in New York. I spent a little bit of time on an Island there, called Rikers Island,” says Tunechi. “I don’t know much about you though. Fact is, you don’t know much about me. With that said, keep my name out your mouth.” He caps it off with an unwavering stare that speaks volumes; his goonie goons are indeed the gooniest, it says.

He proceeds to address Eli Manning. “Every time somebody bad mouth you, I be the first one to say – you can ask Skip Bayless, that’s my homie – first thing I’m gon’ say is ‘man listen, I got an uncle that was doing time that remembers seeing Eli, Archie, Peyton, Cooper, he remembers seeing them at five in the morning every other morning on the schoolyard, way before the students get there, practicing. I’m the first one to back you up,” says Wayne. “And here you talk about you don’t watch Lil Wayne much. That’s fine. I’m cool with you, I don’t care what you watch. But you know, this is hometown love, man. You ain’t gotta do me like that. I didn’t say anything bad about you, man.”

It’s refreshing to see Wayne taking the high ground, addressing his “detractors” in a calm and humble fashion. “I ain’t gon’ say nothing bad about you now,” says Wayne, to Manning. “It’s still hometown love, I fucks with you Eli. It’s all good, you ain’t gotta watch much of me. You should probably listen, if you could. You probably need to with the way you’ve been playing. You need to bang some Carter V before games.”

“So now I want to say what I think about the whole ordeal,” continues Wayne, in the seven-part clip. “I think that you, you as in all of ya’ll, just a little bit upset that it’s not ya’ll who can get somebody with a number one album (thank God) and one of the greats on the NFL to sit down in a room together and get on camera and get such a great interview. For you Frank, I heard you also say that I didn’t say anything, that I was just a yes man. Frank, you should know that that was edited.”

He proceeds to school Frank on the nature of his interview, which he claims went to a “real” place. “Maybe that’s why [Odell] opened up like that,” says Wayne. “He was being real cause I was being real, and Josina was keeping it real. I think you were just upset you weren’t on the other side of the table asking questions. Because I don’t think you’d ever get the chance to do such a thing. Because if I, or Odell, were on the other side of the table of whoever you are, Frank, we probably wouldn’t even answer the questions.”

“Lil Wayne is serious,” says the ever-quotable Wayne, in the concluding moments. “And I was serious when I said keep my name out your mouth, Frank.”

Chance the Rapper pledges $1 million to mental health services in Chicago

ALL Things HipHop, News & Info
CHICAGO (WLS) —

Chance the Rapper continues to show his support for Chicagoans in need as he pledged $1 million for mental health in the city Thursday.

He also announced plans to give $100,000 to 20 additional Chicago Public Schools.

Running in to raucous applause, Chance the Rapper took the stage in front of Chicago Public Schools educators, principals, health care experts and the world on his Twitter page with a major announcement for the city.

“I’m proud to announce I am pledging $1 million to mental health services in Chicago,” Chance said to rousing applause and screams of joy.

The new initiative by Chance called “My State of Mind” aims at creating a go-to, modern resource for Chicagoans to learn about and access mental health services.

Members of the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Chicago Department of Public Health were in attendance, among others.

Backing up Chance and his non-profit SocialWorks were big name stars like Tracee Ellis Ross, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman and even Oprah expressing the importance of mental health.

“We need a new space to get information on how they feel and where they can go,” Chance said.

On Thursday, SocialWorks pledged to give $100,000 to six different mental health providers in the city to start. But that’s not all. Chance’s partnership with Chicago Public Schools just got bigger.

“This year, 20 more schools will get $100K…” Chance said to cheers. “We will be upping the game in terms of equity, in terms of what is rightfully yours. Principals, teachers, we got your back.”

Applications for those mental health grants begin in January.

Bartender Sisters Allegedly Attacked By Cardi B Banned From Strip Club

ALL Things HipHop, News & Info

A lawyer for the women alleges they cannot work for their previous employer because of the complaints they raised against Cardi B.

Bartender sisters who were allegedly attacked by Cardi B were reportedly banned from the strip club they were working at because they complained about the incident involving the “Bodak Yellow” rapper.

The siblings, named Rachel Wattley and Sarah Wattley go by Baddie Gi and Jade. The women are aged 21 and 23 respectively. They claim to have been victimized in an attack launched by Cardi B and her entourage which first began when Cardi threw a hookah pipe and drinking glasses at them. Cardi’s crew allegedly followed her actions by throwing chairs and bottles at the bartenders leaving them with significant injuries. The brawl is said to have been sparked by Cardi’s belief that one of the sisters slept with her husband, Offset.

A lawyer for the Wattleys, Joe Tacopina, said that the sisters have not been allowed to return the strip club where they used to work as a result of the incident. He told The Washington Post, “they were told they can’t work there because of the complaint they made against Cardi B.” He went on to reveal, “They have text messages [that] say that from the club.” Tacopina also denied the accusation that either one of the women slept with Offset.

Cardi B did turn herself earlier this week and was charged with one count of third-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. The Bronx rapper will appear in criminal court on October 29.

Charlamagne Tha God Announces Mental Health Conversation With Kanye West

ALL Things HipHop, Interviews

New York, NY – In light of Kanye West’s most recent antics — which include a pro-Trump rant following his appearance on Saturday Night Live and a poorly conveyed message about abolishing the 13th amendment — Charlamagne Tha God has announced another sit-down conversation with YE.

The conversation is scheduled for October 17 at The Town Hall in New York City.

Charlamagne made the announcement on Instagram.

“Join me for a @timestalks with @kanyewest about Anxiety, Therapy, PTSD and all the other Mental Health stuff we don’t discuss enough,” he captioned the photo. “Also discussing my new book #ShookOne “Anxiety Playing Tricks On Me” moderated by @joncaramanica of the @nytimes. Buy tickets before they’re gone link in my bio!!!”

Over the past week, YE has caused a flurry of controversy. On Monday (October 1), he pushed the Yandhi album release date to November 23, which also outraged his fans. He had originally promised the album would arrive on September 29, the same night of his SNL performance.

Kanye told TMZ he was heading to Africa with his “alien YE” alter ego to finish the album.

Tickets for Charlamagne’s conversation with Kanye are available here.
