‘Black Panther’ passes ‘Titanic’ at the box office
HOLLYWOOD — “Black Panther” moved past “Titanic” on the all-time list of highest grossing films. But “A Quiet Place” took the top spot at this weekend’s box office.
“Black Panther” has now made $665.4 million domestically, which makes the Disney and Marvel Studios film starring Chadwick Boseman the third-highest grossing film in North American history. The superhero film has now officially passed “Titanic” and is only behind “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Avatar.”
That’s not accounting for inflation, however. When accounting for inflation, the superhero film clocks in at No. 34 on the all-time domestic list, according to industry data site Box Office Mojo.
“Black Panther” has been a phenomenon for Disney shattering box office records and cultural barriers in Hollywood. The film has made nearly $1.3 billion globally since opening in mid-February.
As for the film that won this weekend, Paramount’s “A Quiet Place” opened to a stellar $50 million in North America.
The near silent horror film starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt nabbed the second biggest opening of the year and nearly tripled its budget of $17 million. The big weekend for the horror film was likely thanks to strong word of mouth and critical acclaim. The film currently holds a near perfect 97% score on review site Rotten Tomatoes.

Coming in second place was Warner Bros.’ “Ready Player One,” which turned in a solid second weekend total of $25 million domestically. The Steven Spielberg film has so far made $391.3 million worldwide.
And rounding out the top three was the Universal comedy “Blockers.” The film starring John Cena and Leslie Mann also had a good weekend in a crowded field opening to an estimated $21.4 million in the US.

Michael Rapaport is the Worst Kind of White Man
Mr. Rapaport is an obnoxious know it all racist. No wonder he was so good in some of my favorite spike Lee movies. He was playing himself .
The story of the scorpion and the frog is an ancient African proverb that explains the importance of knowing whom to trust.
In the story, a frog is preparing to cross a river when it is approached by a cool-ass scorpion. The scorpion asks the frog to give it a ride on its back to traverse the river (the story doesn’t explain how the scorpion learned how to speak frog language, so let’s just assume scorpions are required to take a semester of frogspeak in high school).
The frog is wary of his prospective passenger’s intentions, but the charismatic scorpion sincerely promises that he won’t sting the frog. The amphibian, convinced by the scorpion’s genuineness, finally relents and allows the scorpion to hitch a ride across the water. When they reach the opposite shore, true to its nature, the scorpion dismounts the frog and stings it to death.
“But you promised,” the frog says as he slowly dies. “I thought you were one of the good scorpions. Why did you do this?”……

Orlando Brown Arrested For Battery
Looks like Orlando Brown is coming out from the shadows, and not in a good way.
Brown was arrested Thursday on an old warrant, after a heated argument led police to his apartment. Brown was handcuffed in Barstow, California and is on $25,000 bond. He is charged with battery of a spouse, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
Looks like things are going from bad to worse for Orlando Brown. If he somehow manages to avoid time hopefully he gets his life and act together soon.
Aziz Ansari Accused of Sexual Misconduct
An anonymous woman recounted how the comedian attempted to pressure her into sex on a date
Aziz Ansari, the Parks and Recreation and Master of Nonestar who has built a career out of using comedy as a means to explore modern relationships, has been accused of sexual misconduct by an anonymous woman who says she went out on a date with him shortly after the 2017 Emmy Awards.
Twenty-three-year-old photographer “Grace” described the encounter to babe, saying she met Ansari while she was taking photos at the Emmy Awards after-party. The two bonded over Ansari’s camera and eventually exchanged phone numbers. According to the woman, Ansari invited her out on a date on Monday, September 25.
On the night in question, the two allegedly met at Ansari’s TriBeCa apartment and walked over to Grand Banks, an oyster bar aboard a schooner. Grace said that they left abruptly to go back to his apartment, where Ansari began to kiss her. She told babe that she was uncomfortable with how quickly the situation escalated. “It was really quick,” she said. “Everything was pretty much touched and done within ten minutes of hooking up, except for actual sex.”
Grace said she attempted to indicate her disinterest, but Ansari followed her around the apartment as though he was executing “a football play.” “It was 30 minutes of me getting up and moving and him following and sticking his fingers down my throat again,” she said. “It was really repetitive. It felt like a fucking game.” She said he then suggested they move to the couch, where he continued to attempt to initiate sex, though she wasn’t interested: “I know I was physically giving off cues that I wasn’t interested. I don’t think that was noticed at all, or if it was, it was ignored.”
She tried to verbally communicate her disinterest: “I said I don’t want to feel forced because then I’ll hate you, and I’d rather not hate you,” she said. Ansari appeared to understand at first, but soon continued his overtures. She said he only appeared to get the message when she emphatically said ‘no’ after he’d bent her over in front of a large mirror. He suggested they “just chill” on his couch.
Afterward, Ansari called her a car. Grace said she cried the whole trip home. She texted Ansari after the date, explaining how uncomfortable she’d felt: “Last night might’ve been fun for you, but it wasn’t for me. When we got back to your place, you ignored clear non-verbal cues; you kept going with advances. You had to have noticed I was uncomfortable.” She explained she was telling him this so that “maybe the next girl doesn‘t have to cry on the ride home.” Ansari reportedly responded, “Clearly, I misread things in the moment and I’m truly sorry.”
“I believe that I was taken advantage of by Aziz,” Grace told babe. “I was not listened to and ignored. It was by far the worst experience with a man I’ve ever had.”
Ansari has delved into the nature of sexual assault and harassment both during live sets and on his show, Master of None. During his 2015 Madison Square Garden special, he asked women in the crowd who had been followed home by “creepy dudes” to raise their hands. “What I’ve learned, as a guy, is to just ask women questions and listen to what they have to say,” he told the Daily Beast of the bit. “You’ll get blown away by the things they tell you. You’ll think, ‘What the fuck? This is way darker than anything I’d imagined.’”

Lupita Nyong’o calls out magazine for editing hair to look more ‘Eurocentric’
Lupita Nyong’o would have preferred to keep her real look, thank you very much.
The “12 Years a Slave” actress called out Grazia UK on Thursday after the magazine edited her hair for the cover.
“Disappointed that @GraziaUK edited out & smoothed my hair to fit a more Eurocentric notion of what beautiful hair looks like.”
The 34-year-old actress shared the final cover, which shows her with a shaved head, as well as the original shots in both color and black-and-white. The original photos include Nyong’o’s ponytail with her natural hair.
Nyong’o also included the hashtag “dtmh,” an abbreviation for “don’t touch my hair” and a song title off Solange Knowles’ 2016 album “A Seat at the Table.”
Last month, the “Cranes in the Sky” singer forced an apology from the Evening Standard newspaper after the outlet cropped out her elaborate braided crown hairstyle.
On Facebook, Nyong’o elaborated on her complaints.
“As I have made clear so often in the past with every fiber of my being, I embrace my natural heritage and despite having grown up thinking light skin and straight, silky hair were the standards of beauty, I now know that my dark skin and kinky, coily hair are beautiful too. Being featured on the cover of a magazine fulfills me as it is an opportunity to show other dark, kinky-haired people, and particularly our children, that they are beautiful just the way they are. I am disappointed that Grazia UK invited me to be on their cover and then edited out and smoothed my hair to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like,” she wrote.
“Had I been consulted, I would have explained that I cannot support or condone the omission of what is my native heritage with the intention that they appreciate that there is still a very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women’s complexion, hair style and texture.”

Tyrese’s Child Abuse Case Has Been Dropped
We all watched Tyrese crying hysterically over the possibility of being separated from his daughter.
“Don’t take my baby, OK? I’ve been waiting on my baby for two months. I just wanna see my baby,” he was crying to a camera. He continued in agony, “What more do you want from me?!” (Was I the only one who felt as though his crying was… staged? Forced?)
Since then, the star’s wife, Samantha Lee, went on social media and suggested that people pray for the problems that her family is going through. I am sure there were some saints out there who did offer prayers. Thankfully, it looks like those prayers have worked. Tyrese’s abuse case has officially been dismissed.
“E! News can confirm the Department of Child and Family Services has closed its investigation into the actor after his ex-wife, Norma Gibson, claimed he beat their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla,” E! declared. “We’ve learned the LADCFS will not be pressing any criminal charges against the Fast and Furious star.”
We hope that this is the best situation for Shayla.
Hopefully, Tyrese will stop acting out, at least for all the world to see.

Power Rangers Movie Review
If there’s any movie that can bring 90’s kids back to their childhood, the new Power Rangers is definitely one of them.
I saw an early screening of Power Rangers this past Thursday and I’m glad to say that I was not disappointed. The movie is the basic super hero origin story of misfits coming together to fight evil but it’s still done well.
One thing I can point out is that it is definitely not as cheesy as the original Power Rangers tv show. The teenagers in this movie are legit teenagers with attitude and not “perfect” kids.
The characters are very likable but I do have to say that the blue ranger was my absolute favorite throughout the whole entire movie. The characters are fleshed out and you really enjoy the bonding moments they have throughout the movie. Elizabeth Banks was great as Rita Repulsa and though Goldar didn’t speak it was fun seeing him fighting with the Megazord in the climactic battle.
This movie series has great potential and I look forward to seeing the sequels for this. I’m sure fans of this movie will be looking forward to seeing Tommy Oliver ( The Green/White Ranger) the most.
On a scale of 1-10 I give this movie a 9. I know I’ll be seeing it in the near future and I’m loving this new reboot of the Power Ranger franchise! If you haven’t see. Power Rangers go out and see it now!
Logan Movie Review
If there was ever a way to send off a movie character, this is definitely one of the ways to go.
Last night I got the chance to see Logan and let me just say a thank you to Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart as this will be their final time playing Wolverine and Professor X. Their portrayals of these characters have simply been wonderful ever since the first X-Men film in 2000 and they’ll definitely be missed by everyone.
Let me start off by saying that if you’re looking for the typical good mood super hero film, this is NOT the movie for you. This movie is the dictionary definition of depressing and for good reason. The Mutants are gone, Professor X isn’t the same man we’ve seen before as his age has definitely caught up with him and his powers. Same for Logan we we see that his powers are starting to fade away and the adamantium is affecting his body.
The acting in this movie was amazing, as always Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart are great. Dafne Keen was awesome as X-23 and even though you she didn’t speak much in the film, I feel like she’s definitely going places after this movie. I also enjoyed Boyd Holbrook’s portrayal as Donald Pierce.
I can honestly say that this is one of the few movies in life that legit made my eyes water and that says a lot. Seeing the state that the Professor and Logan are in is pretty tearjerking and also all of the horrible things X-23 went through.
Though depressing as it is, this will go down as one of my favorite X-Men movies. It’s a great send off for 2 beloved characters, the gory action is definitely there as this is an R rated film. The depressing tone is almost constant with a few rays of hope and it opens up possibilities for the future of X-23. On a scale of 1-10 , definitely a solid 10. Make sure to see Logan this weekend!
