Halloween Movie Review
The time for Halloween is almost upon us and it arrived a little early in the form of a movie. Halloween is the direct sequel to the original 1978 slasher film ignoring everything from Halloween 2 on down. Does it live up to its height? Let’s find out.
Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed this movie. It’s rare these days that a horror movie can entertaining these days though it seems like it’s slowly turning around. Everything from the acting to the pacing was great in my opinion.
Jamie Lee Curtis is still great as Laurie Strode and you really get to see how much Michael Myers has traumatized her character for the past 40 years.
The eeriness Of Michael Myers is still there as well, even after being locked up for 40 years and still never speaking he still sits there waiting for his chance to escape and kill again. One aspect that they removed from the franchise is the sibling relationship between Michael and Laurie which makes his obsession to kill her that much more creepy and frightening.
One thing that this movie does really good is make callbacks to the original film and some of its sequels. To people getting pinned to walls with knives to eerie creepy ghost costumes, it’s definitely a nostalgia trip.
However I will say my most favorite part in this movie and is the little black boy in this movie! All I have to say is, I want my future son to be just like him when it comes down to danger!
All in all Halloween was a very fun and enjoyable film, will there be a sequel? Who knows, but for now this maybe the best one since the original film, I give it a good 9/10! If you haven’t seen it yet, go see it soon!
Kanye West, Brett Kavanaugh And Alex Jones Audition For Big Bird On ‘Colbert’
Actor and puppeteer Caroll Spinney is leaving his post as Big Bird after playing the role for nearly 50 years. That certainly leaves a sizable hole in the heart of “Sesame Street.” But who can possibly Spinney’s very big and oddly shaped shoes?
On Friday’s “Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” some famous would-be replacements auditioned to take over for our big feathered friend. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh brings up beer a lot during his tryout, Infowars host Alex Jones rants about conspiracy theories, and rapper Kanye West uses his time to talk about… well, Kanye West.

‘The Real’ Co-Hosts Explain Why They Never Replaced Tamar Braxton After Dramatic Exit
“You’re leaving too?” Tamera Mowry-Housley asks celebrity make up artist Renny Vasquez with that signature pout we all fell in love with on Sister, Sister.
He along with several other members of The Real‘s glam squad had been with the co-hosts since 5 a.m. that morning, and it was now close to 5 p.m. in the evening.
“OK! I love you!” she says when he confirms that he indeed has to run.
As Mowry-Housley plops down onto the couch beside her co-host, Adrienne Houghton, she scratches at a persistent stain on the singer’s knee. It was the smallest of gestures between the two co-hosts, but one you’d only expect from a sister just making sure her girl looks presentable for the last interview of the day.
When the ladies of The Real are in a room together, it is a complete love fest peppered with inside jokes. And the love is contagious. No one is exempt from it. Not this interviewer, not the make up artist, not even the show’s publicist.
Five seasons after being placed together by some very smart executives at 495 and Telepictures Productions, the co-hosts of The Real have sort of crossed the burning sands. Their Emmy win is proof of that. Their guests — which have included Issa Rae, Jada Pinkett Smith and forever first lady Michelle Obama — is also proof.
And they’ve been through some things. Most of which they’re happy to open up about during their popular “Girl Chat” segment.
“Back when you used to watch our show we had lots of games,” Jeannie Mai admitted. “Now, we’ve gotten so close and intimate with our fans, it’s a lot of ‘Girl Chat’ because we have a lot to talk about.”
“When you’re vulnerable, that’s when people start relating…and that is a powerful and beautiful thing,” Mowry-Housley added.
“There was a time when we were flooded with talk shows and they were just chopping them after the second season,” Loni Love continued. “We are continuing because…you have this chemistry of women who are discovering themselves, and opening themselves up and people are relating all across the world.”
Co-host and big sister of the foursome, Love, said proudly that “the hosts have not changed” during all five seasons. But fans who’ve been with them since earlier seasons have noticed one person indeed dropped the line — or if we’re forgetting the sorority analogy altogether — was forced off the show after season two.
The co-hosts only recently decided to open up about Tamar Braxton’s 2016 departure during their New York City press run earlier this month.
“That’s embarrassing when you get let go of a show. That’s embarrassing so sometimes it’s better to just not say nothing and let the process play out,” Love said of why the co-hosts remained silent. “Timing is everything.”
Mai added, “And we couldn’t say anything either because we have a job to uphold, and we also didn’t know what was going on because it’s just our job.”
Houghton said it’s also the reason why The Real hasn’t replaced Braxton, even after rumors swirled that she was being replaced by reality stars Joseline Hernandez, or Ray J.
“The same way we can’t get rid of people on the show, we also can’t stop them from adding one,” Houghton said, noting that the co-hosts preference is for the slot to remain unfilled.
She added that the ordeal was hard on the hosts, but it’s forged a sisterly bond between the foursome — one that they don’t take for granted.
“In all honesty, there was a moment in time when we said, ‘Why is this happening to us?’” Houghton recalled. “But because of going through that, we more than ever value this…and what we went through has made our bond so much stronger. And we’re grateful for that so we value this; its precious to us; and we don’t allow anything to infiltrate this.”
Looking over at Houghton, Mowry-Housley chimed in, finishing her sentence, “You can’t force this.”

Netflix angers black subscribers with targeted posters
Some subscribers see Chiwetel Ejiofor on the poster for ‘Love Actually’ despite the British actor only having a minor role in the film
Netflix has been accused of using “intrusive” advertising tactics to mislead subscribers based on their ethnicity.
When browsing content on Netflix, the streaming service will make suggestions on what to watch next based on your viewing habits.
However, black users have noticed that the images being used to promote certain films will include black actors, even if those actors only have minor roles.
One example is Love Actually. While the Richard Curtis film features an ensemble cast, with Hugh Grant as top billing, some viewers are seeing Chiwetel Ejiofor on the film’s Netflix thumbnail despite the British actor only having a minor role (he does not feature on the theatrical poster).
Similarly, the streaming service is promoting their original series The Good Cop, a murder mystery, with black characters front and centre on the thumbnail; the series’ principal cast are majority white.
On Twitter, writer Stacia L Brown pointed out how the poster for the Kelsey Grammer and Kristen Bell-starring Like Father was appearing with two black actors on the thumbnail.
“Other Black Netflix users: does your queue do this? Generate posters with the Black cast members on them to try to compel you to watch?” she wrote.
“This film stars Kristen Bell/Kelsey Grammer and these actors had maaaaybe a 10 cumulative minutes of screen time. 20 lines between them, tops.”
Tolani Shoneye, who hosts The Receipts Podcast, told The Guardian: “It’s intrusive. It’s the dark side of marketing. I noticed it a while ago with a Zac Efron film that I’d already seen, but Netflix kept showing me it as a Michael B Jordan movie.”
She continued: “There was 30 minutes of a romcom I ended up watching last week because I thought it was about the black couple I was shown on the poster. I want to see those stories. They know I want to see those stories. Why don’t they just make more of them?”
Netflix found that displaying certain images to people, depending on their viewing habits, they were more likely to watch a certain film or TV show. They introduced multiple images to promote a single film last December.
Tim Harrington, a senior broadcast research analyst, said: “Netflix’s recommendation engine is second to none, and works almost seamlessly in the background.
“But the algorithm for targeted artwork is shown as downright clunky when, say, [some] users are offered artwork for ITV’s Lewis with black actors despite both leads and almost the entire cast being white.
“Netflix knows a lot about you, perhaps even race, but their understanding of what to do with this information is currently rudimentary.”
Netflix responded to accusations of basing posters on a subscriber’s ethnicity by saying: “We don’t ask members for their race, gender or ethnicity so we cannot use this information to personalise their individual Netflix experience. The only information we use is a member’s viewing history.”

‘Willy Wonka’ actress Diana Sowle dies at 88
Diana Sowle, who played Charlie Bucket’s mother in the beloved 1971 film “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory,” has died at 88.
Sowle’s representative confirmed to BBC News and Yahoo that the actress passed away Friday morning surrounded by family.
“She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be dearly missed,” said a statement released by the rep.
Sowle made her onscreen debut in “Willy Wonka” as Mrs. Bucket, famously singing “Cheer Up Charlie” in one memorable scene.
“It’s nice that it’s still so popular, and the reason I think it’s so popular is — if you’re a parent, you can send your child to that movie, there’s no violence, there’s no bad language and no sex,” she told the Baltimore Sun in 2015 about the enduring popularity of “Willy Wonka.” “And kids love the thought of going to a chocolate factory and someone wins the golden ticket and they have all these bad kids and good kids, and the bad kids lose out because they try to grab (everything) for themselves.”
Speaking about the film more than 40 years after its original release, Sowles poked fun at the fact that Charlie took his Grandpa Joe to Willy Wonka’s factory instead of his mother.
“Charlie should’ve taken his mom,” she told the newspaper. “He should’ve said, ‘Oh, that’s wonderful. Now I can buy my mother a beautiful dress!’ Never happened.”
She was one of the last living adult cast members from the beloved film. Her co-star Gene Wilder, who played Willy Wonka, died in 2016 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
“We’d be working on a scene…and he would be coming in to film another scene, and he would join us on a lunch break and we’d have lunch,” Sowle told a public-access TV station from her home in Laurel, Maryland, about her time working with Wilder.
“He was so nice, he never acted like, ‘Oh I’m a bigger star than the rest of you’, he was always friendly and courteous and funny and told nice stories. I’m very sorry he passed away because I think he was a great talent and I think he was liked by many, many people.”
Sowle also appeared in the films “Clear And Present Danger” and “Guarding Tess,” both of which premiered in 1994.

Katt Williams Unloads on Ex Hazel-E, Dubs Her an Ugly Atheist Who Hates Her Blackness
At one time, Katt Williams and Hazel-E were a happy couple, but not anymore.
Thursday, the 47-year-old comedian hurled a bunch of insults at the former reality star and said she was ugly, an atheist, and didn’t like being Black. Katt also talked about Hazel’s ex-boyfriend, who he said is just a teenager with a lengthy criminal past.
“Remember she showed up with that little boy that was like 19?” he said on Instagram Live! “That n—- was a full fledged killer, and she had that n—- out here on motherf—–’ red carpets and sh– with a bow tie on? If you don’t get 17 felonies the f— up out of the ‘Littlefoot’ premiere. You crossed the line.”
Katt and Hazel began dating in 2014 and split two years later when Katt’s home was raided by the police. Hazel said she was incredibly shaken by the incident and left the comedian immediately afterward.
But Katt said he was the one who ended things, because Hazel didn’t believe in God.
“Truthfully, that’s why I left her,” he claimed. “The b—- is a god d-mn atheist. I told her ‘Before God, I was the king of the n—–.’ This b-tch said ‘I don’t believe in God or n—–.’ I said ‘B-tch, if you don’t get your satanic, demonic, I-wanna-be-a-cracker in the face ass up outta here. I will call down the ghost of Sojourner Truth to walk up your motherf—– street. What in the Harriet Tubman is this light skinned ugly b-tch talking about? How the f— is you light skin and ugly?”
But arguably the most scathing part of Katt’s message is when he accused the former “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star of receiving money to fulfill sexual fetishes in Dubai.
“Hazel-E was ugly while I was f——g the b-tch,” stated Katt. “Soon as I leave, the b-tch nose is crooked. She got a under and over bite. The b—- is in Dubai getting sh– on. I love it. Fellas, if your woman goes to Dubai, you know how cleanliness is next to Godliness? Well say Du-bye to that b-tch. They giving them b-tches 10 racks to sh– on them.”
Hazel has yet to respond to Katt’s message.

Tennis’ Naomi Osaka Lands Date with Michael B. Jordan Thanks to Ellen DeGeneres’ Twitter Meddling
In September, Osaka — who won the U.S. Open over Serena Williams in a controversial face-off — admitted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she is smitten with the Black Panther star, 31.
DeGeneres, 60, kept that information tucked away, and on Tuesday, the talk show host tweeted a steamy picture of a shirtless Jordan to Osaka for her 21st birthday. She captioned it, “Happy birthday, @Naomi_Osaka_. I got you a present.”
Osaka was embarrassed. “pls block me,” she tweeted back with an anguished emoji.
But the teasing was far from over. Jordan jumped in on Wednesday, “This one is better and more recent. LOL,” alongside another picture of his impressive abs and arms. “Happy Belated Bday Naomi. But seriously I want to invite you to the Creed 2 premiere as a bday present.”
DeGeneres was pleased with her work. “You’re welcome, Naomi,” she quipped.
Osaka accepted the invitation — with a little hesitance. “LOL what is going on???” she replied. “Thanks for the bday wishes, If you’re serious I would totally want to go.”

‘The Lion King’ Cast Gathers For Behind-The-Scenes Photo Sans Beyoncé
The circle of life for every animated Disney classic is that it will eventually be remade into a live-action film ― and “The Lion King” is next.
Filming for the Jon Favreau-directed feature kicked off in summer 2017, but the all-star cast, which includes Donald Glover as Simba and Beyoncé as Nala, is apparently still hard at work providing voices for the beloved animated characters.
Favreau shared a Beyoncé-less behind-the-scenes photo of some of the movie’s stars on his Twitter account Wednesday, teasing what could be the recording of “Hakuna Matata.”
In the photo, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner, who play the iconic duo Timon and Pumba, pose alongside Glover and Favreau.
The characters in the film all sing the anthem together, so it’s not much of a stretch to assume this crew was deep into the “no worries” mode.
Rogen and Eichner also shared the photo on their own social media accounts.
Despite Bey’s absence from the recording session, we do know that Glover, at least, has worked with her, which he understandably described as a “little intimidating.”
“Just hearing her do it, it’s been like, ‘Man, this is a really special thing,’” Glover told “Entertainment Tonight” in May.
Eichner admitted he’s also had some trouble keeping his cool around big-name stars on set.
“I was freaking out,” the “Difficult People” alum told E! News. “I mean, the cast is amazing. Me and Seth Rogen are Timon and Pumbaa, so we do ‘Hakuna Matata’ and then we also sing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ with Simba and Nala, who are going to be voiced by Donald Glover and someone who is named Beyoncé.”
Oh yeah? We think we’ve heard of her.
“The Lion King,” which is set to hit theaters July 19, 2019, also stars James Earl Jones, John Oliver, JD McCrary, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Alfre Woodard.

Release of film featuring fallen Chinese celebrity Fan nixed
BEIJING (AP) — The director of “Air Strike,” featuring Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, says the film’s release has been canceled in the wake of her disappearance and conviction on tax evasion charges.
The World War II thriller, also starring Bruce Willis and Adrien Brody, was to have been released Oct. 26.
However, director Xiao Feng posted on his Weibo miniblog Wednesday that it was “time to let go” after eight years of work on the film.
Chinese tax authorities this month ordered Fan and companies she represents to pay taxes and penalties totaling $130 million, ending speculation over the fate of one of the country’s highest-profile entertainers three months after she disappeared from public view.
State media said Fan evaded taxes by using two separate contracts for her work on “Air Strike.”
Fan has starred in dozens of movies and TV series in China and is best known internationally for her role as Blink in 2014′s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” a cameo in the Chinese version of “Iron Man 3,” and for star turns on the red carpet at Cannes as recently as May.
Before her disappearance, she had been booked to star with Penelope Cruz in the Hollywood film “355.”
Fan posted an apology on her official Weibo account saying that she accepted the tax authorities’ decision and would “try my best to overcome all difficulties and raise funds to pay back taxes and fines.”
“I am unworthy of the trust of the society and let down the fans who love me,” she wrote in her first update of her Weibo.com microblog since June 2.
Fan’s disappearance coincided with a crackdown by Chinese authorities on high salaries for actors that can eat up much of the cost of a production. In June, regulators capped star pay at 40 percent of a TV show’s entire production budget and 70 percent of the total paid to all the actors in a film.
