After Johnny Depp Was Fired From Fantastic Beasts, Fans Petition For Amber Heard’s Removal From Aquaman 2
Article via CinemaBlend
Becoming a celebrity is a tricky thing. Because fame can result in notoriety and a major payday, things like personal relationships also become public events. Actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard know this all too well, as their divorce proceedings and legal battle have been making headlines as the two actors throw abuse allegations at each other. Depp was recently fired from his gig as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, and now there’s a petition gaining momentum or Heard to also be removed from DC’s Aquaman.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been battling in court for months, most recently with Depp suing The Sun after the publication referred to him as a “wife beater.” The judge ultimately sided with The Sun, resulting in Warner Bros. asking the actor to step away from his role as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts movies. And now nearly 1 million moviegoers have signed a petition for Heard to be fired from her role in the Aquaman franchise.
The petition in question is on Change.Org, titled “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.” At the time of writing, the online campaign has been signed by a whopping 903K people and counting. The organizers maintain that Heard should have a similar fate to Depp in regards to his firing from Fantastic Beasts. Warner Bros. is in control of both the Wizarding World and DC Extended Universe, so it’s ultimately the same studio heads that can make this decision.
The online calls for Amber Heard’s firing are largely based on the various allegations that have been thrown her way over the years. While she’s testified in court about Johnny Depp’s reportedly abusive behavior, her ex-husband presented his own slew of wild stories during his libel suit with The Sun. And it’s for that reason that the nearly 1 million participants in the petition have been making their voices known.
Given the timing of Johnny Depp’s departure from Fantastic Beasts 3, it’s clear that Warner Bros.’ decision to part ways with the actor was influenced by the results of his loss in court. The legal system in the U.K. ruled on the side of The Sun, which was seemingly a victory for Amber Heard. Of course, the two actors’ will have their own legal battle to continue in the states.
There’s currently no indication that Warner Bros. plans on releasing Amber Heard from her contract playing Mera in the Aquaman franchise. In fact, it was announced that the 34 year-old actress was actually participating in reshoots for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But if Johnny Depp’s case against Heard is won, it should be interesting to see if the studio pulls a similar move regarding Heard’s role in the DCEU.
Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently set to arrive in theaters on July 15th, 2022. In the meantime, check out our 2020 release list to plan your next movie experience.
Selena’s father and Netflix sued by producer over series
Article via Page Six
The father of Latin music legend Selena is being sued along with Netflix over a new show based on the late singer’s life, according to court documents.
Moctesuma Esparza, who produced the highly acclaimed 1997 film, “Selena,” is accusing Abraham Quintanilla, 81, of violating a contract agreement signed in 1995, in which he was allegedly given the rights to the life stories of Selena, according to TMZ.
Esparza is seeking $1 million for breach of contract from Quintanilla and is suing Netflix for ignoring his and Quintanilla’s previous deal while creating “Selena: The Series,” which is set to premiere on the streaming service on Dec. 4.
In the lawsuit, filed on Nov. 6, Esparza alleges that after the success of the original film, he and Quintanilla discussed creating their own follow-up mini-series together. Those talks reportedly took place in 1998.
Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, is also named in the lawsuit because she was reportedly involved in conversations regarding a storyline about a “young” Selena.
A case summary, reviewed by Page Six, shows there is a case management conference scheduled for Feb. 23.
Reps for Quintanilla and Netflix did not immediately return our request for comment.
Anne Hathaway Apologizes for the Portrayal of Limb Differences in ‘The Witches’
Article via YahooNews
Anne Hathaway has apologized for the “pain caused” by The Witches in a statement responding to criticism over the film’s portrayal of limb difference.
The 37-year-old actress plays the Grand High Witch in the latest adaptation of Roald Dahl’s 1983 novel of the same title. The film features the witches as having three elongated fingers on each hand, rather than the clawed hands described in the book.
Some felt the visual portrayal was insensitive towards disabled people, prompting the hashtag #NotAWitch to trend on Twitter after the film’s release.
“I have recently learned that many people with limb differences, especially children, are in pain because of the portrayal of the Grand High Witch in The Witches,” Hathaway said in a statement on Instagram. “As someone who really believes in inclusivity and really, really detests cruelty, I owe you all an apology for the pain caused. I am sorry.”
She added that she did “not connect limb difference when the look of the character was brought to me; if I had, I assure you this never would have happened.”
The star concluded, “I’m sorry to kids with limb differences: now that I know better I promise I’ll do better. And I owe a special apology to everyone who loves you as fiercely as I love my own kids: I’m sorry I let your family down.”

Along with her message, Hathaway also shared a video from the Lucky Fin Project, an organization supporting those with limb differences.
British Paralympic swimmer Amy Marren explained on Twitter why the film was stigmatizing, as she wrote, “It’s not unusual for surgeons to try and build hands like this for children/adults with certain limb differences and it’s upsetting to [see] something that makes a person different being represented as something scary.”
Marren continued, “My fear is that children will watch this film, unaware that it massively exaggerates the Roald Dahl original and that limbs differences begin to be feared.”
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. also responded to the backlash to say that the company was “deeply saddened to learn that our depiction of the fictional characters in The Witches could upset people with disabilities” and “regretted any offence caused.”
Johnny Depp Convicted in the Eyes of the Public
Article via TheDailyBeast
The high court in London ruled against Johnny Depp today.
The stunning verdict, which went against most expectations, will be appealed by Depp, his legal team said, calling it “as perverse as it is bewildering.”
After examining 14 alleged episodes of abuse, the judge ruled that a 2018 story in the Sun newspaper that labeled Depp a “wife beater” was “substantially true.”
Actress Amber Heard Admits To Hitting Johnny Depp on TAPE~The Media Shows Their Hypocrisy
Depp was suing News Group Newspapers (NGN), the publishers of the British newspaper, for libel over the article that said the 57-year-old attacked his ex-wife, Amber Heard, 34, during their relationship.
During the trial, Depp denied he’d ever been violent toward his ex-wife and claimed she’d been abusive toward him during their relationship, including accusing her of putting out a cigarette in his face and throwing a vodka bottle.
However, lawyers for NGN based their defense on 14 specific allegations of abuse by Heard between 2013 and 2016. Heard was their star witness.
The case saw salacious and intimate alleged details of the private lives of Depp and Heard revealed in open court.
Among the extraordinary allegations were claims that Heard defecated in the marital bed as a “prank” on her husband, leading him to dub her “Amber Turd.”
The court heard the actor called his wife a “malicious, evil, and vindictive c—” who was “desperate for success and fame” in a series of scathing texts.
In one text, he wrote “I just cannot live like this… She is as full of shit as a Christmas Goose!!! I’m done. NO MORE…!!!”
Depp sent messages to British actor Paul Bettany, describing Heard as a witch, saying he would “fuck her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she’s dead.” Lawyers for Depp had argued the messages should not be taken seriously “however dark and extravagant the language.”
The Sun said Depp’s claim that Heard was abusive to him could not be true as the actress weighs only eight stone (about 112 pounds) and “lacked the physical capability” to attack the actor, who she called a “hopeless addict.”
The Sun claimed Depp’s jealousy, addictions, and misogyny led to “violent explosions” that were followed by “embarrassment” and “apologies.”
The court heard details of a 2015 fight in Australia in which Depp’s finger was severed and he used the stump to scrawl messages in his own blood. The court also heard that during the couple’s honeymoon onboard the Eastern & Oriental Express in Malaysia in August 2015, Heard wrote in her diary “graphic description of Depp trying to strangle her with her own shirt.”
A spokesperson for the Sun said: “The Sun has stood up and campaigned for the victims of domestic abuse for over 20 years. Domestic abuse victims must never be silenced and we thank the Judge for his careful consideration and thank Amber Heard for her courage in giving evidence to the court.”
In his ruling, the judge, Justice Nicol, said: “The claimant [Depp] has not succeeded in his action for libel… The defendants [the Sun and News Group Newspapers] have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true.
“I have reached these conclusions having examined in detail the 14 incidents on which the defendants rely as well as the overarching considerations which the claimant submitted I should take into account. In those circumstances, parliament has said that a defendant has a complete defense.”
The long-awaited decision was published online at 10 a.m. on Monday, more than three months after the high court hearing finished in late July.
The case was arguably the biggest English libel trial of the 21st century and became the subject of global attention as it unfolded over three weeks in July at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
Spending 20 hours in the witness box over five days, Depp faced intense questioning about his Hollywood lifestyle, his use of drink and drugs, allegations of violence, and his friendships and associations.
Depp admitted to prodigious drink and drug use during the case. He admitted to spending $30,000 on red wine each month and said he used large amounts of cocaine, which he said merely “brought him to a normal level.” Depp lost a staggering $650 million he made at the height of his Pirates of the Caribbean fame and was left owing $100 million in taxes. Heard was accused of having an affair with Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, which she denied. Depp is said to have threatened to cut Musk’s penis off.
Sasha Wass, a lawyer for NGN, told the court there was “no doubt that Mr. Depp regularly and systematically abused his wife,” adding: “The characterization that he is a wife beater is entirely truthful.”
Depp is likely to be made to cover the bulk of the Sun’s legal costs, plus his own.
Depp will now have to decide whether to continue with a separate claim against Heard in the U.S. where he is suing her for $50 million over a column she wrote.

Harvey Weinstein slapped with federal lawsuit by accuser
Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been slapped with a federal lawsuit by his accuser, Mimi Haleyi on Friday.
The former Project Runway production assistant filed new court documents and described how Weinstein used “his wealth, power and influence to pull her into his orbit.”
Restating her stance from her testimony in the sexual assault trial against him—which helped put the rapist behind bars—Haleyi said she was lured into his apartment by him in 2006 and was sexually assaulted.
Her lawyers wrote in the filing: “Ms. Haley lived with the horror, humiliation and pain that this assault caused for years.”
Haleyi recalls meeting him again weeks later as she was in desperate need of work and “he was an extremely useful industry connection.”
Weinstein is currently serving his 23-year prison sentence since he was convicted of first-degree criminal sex act earlier this year.

Disney confirms its first bisexual lead character, who is also multi-cultural
Diversity is making its way onto the Disney Channel. Disney has confirmed it has a bixsexual lead character on “The Owl House” series.
The 14-year-old Dominican-American girl, Luz Noceda, is not Disney’s first LGBTQ+ character. Pixar featured a gay main character in a short film on Disney Plus, but Luz is the first bisexual character to make a Disney debut on a television series. “The Owl House” series follows Luz’s adventure to becoming a witch, even though she does not have any magical abilities.
At first, “certain Disney leadership” was not too fond of the idea of having an LGBTQ+ character, said the series’ creator, Dana Terrace, in a tweet.
“I was very open about my intention to put queer kids in the main cast. I’m a horrible liar so sneaking it in would’ve been hard,” she says in her tweet. “I was told by certain Disney leadership that I could not represent any form of bi or gay relationship on the channel.” Terrace identifies as bisexual. She wanted to write about a bisexual character, so she really pushed Disney to allow the character.”Luckily my stubbornness paid off, and now I am very supported by current Disney leadership,” she said.Terrace has gotten tons of positive feedback from viewers. Many are thanking her for representing the LGBTQ+ community, and wishing they had a show like “The Owl House” when they were children.
In “The Owl House,” a teenager finds herself stuck in the Demon Realm and battles the forces of evil alongside a rebellious witch and a pint-sized warrior. One of those commenters is Alex Hirsch, the creator of Disney’s “Gravity Falls.” Disney forbade Hirsch from any kind of LGBTQ+ representation, he says in a tweet to Terrace.”Apparently ‘happiest place on earth’ meant ‘straightest,'” he says in his tweet. “Thanks to Dana Terrace and team, there are explicitly queer animated main character on Disney TV.”
“This time, Disney- you did good,” he adds.Terrace encourages others to fight for what they want to see represented in the media and society. “Representation matters!” she says.
Adult film star Ron Jeremy charged with rape, sexual assault
Los Angeles County prosecutors say adult film star Ron Jeremy has been charged with raping three women and sexually assaulting a fourth
Adult film star Ron Jeremy was charged with raping three women and sexually assaulting a fourth, Los Angeles County prosecutors said Tuesday.
The counts make the 67-year-old Jeremy the third man to be charged, along with Harvey Weinstein and producer David Guillod, by a task force formed by District Attorney Jackie Lacey in 2017 to investigate sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry.
Jeremy, nicknamed “The Hedgehog,” is among the best known and most prolific actors in the history of the adult film industry, with thousands of credits to his name.
Jeremy, whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, appeared in court Tuesday, wearing handcuffs and a face mask, but did not enter a plea. A judge delayed his arraignment until Friday and set his bail at $6.6 million.
Jeremy’s attorney Stuart Goldfarb said he is “absolutely innocent of the charges. It’s not a close call.”
Jeremy was charged with three counts each of forcible rape and forcible penetration by a foreign object and one count each of forcible oral copulation and sexual battery. If convicted of all the counts he could face 90 years in prison.
Prosecutors allege Jeremy raped a 25-year-old woman at a West Hollywood home in May 2014, sexually assaulted a 33-year-old woman and a 46-year-old woman in separate incidents at a West Hollywood bar in 2017, and raped a 30-year-old woman at the same bar in July of last year.
Goldfarb said witnesses who spoke to both detectives and his own investigator have cast doubt on the allegations. The lawyer said Jeremy often gropes women with their consent during public appearances, and suggested his long life as an adult performer makes him less likely to have committed sexual crimes.
“There is absolutely no reason for him to ever be aggressive with women,” Goldfarb said. “He’s had more women than you can count.”
He added that the bail amount was “horrendously high.”
Jeremy was investigated by the Hollywood task force after it was formed during a wave of sexual misconduct allegations that began in late 2017 with media reports about Weinstein that launched the #MeToo era.
The task force has investigated more than 20 men, but Jeremy is just the third to be charged.
Prosecutors have begun efforts to bring Weinstein to California to face charges of rape and sexual assault. He is being held in a New York prison after being convicted of similar charges earlier this year. He has denied engaging in any non-consensual sex.
On Monday, Guillod, a producer on the 2017 film “Atomic Blonde” and the 2020 Netflix movie “Extraction,” was arrested in Santa Barbara County and charged with 11 felonies, most of them rape counts, that were investigated by Lacey’s task force.
Guillod’s attorney Philip K. Cohen said in a statement that “for the past eight years, Mr. Guillod has denied these allegations” and an “overwhelming amount of evidence has been collected over the course of this investigation disputing these charges.”
Los Angeles prosecutors charged “That ‘70s Show” actor Danny Masterson last week with the rapes of three women, though that investigation preceded the formation of the Hollywood task force. Masterson denied the charges and his attorney said he will be vindicated.
Another allegation against Jeremy from 2016, was declined by the task force because of insufficient evidence.
In recent years, Jeremy has appeared in more mainstream entertainment, including music videos and reality television shows like “The Surreal Life.”

Growing Up Hip Hop’s Angela Simmons Confirms Relationship With Boxer Daniel Jacobs
Article via UrbanIslandz
Angela Simmons set social media abuzz today when she posted photos of herself alongside a hot new man.
It seems entrepreneur and reality TV star Angela Simmons is finally looking to hop out of the single ring and start a new relationship and what better way to do so than with her very own champion boxer, Daniel Jacobs. Fans of the 32-year-old Growing Up Hip Hop star have steadily linked her to quite a few high profile love interests over the years. First up on the list is her good friend rapper, Bow Wow. This one is not too far from the truth, though, as the two actually dated in the early 2000s. However, Bow Wow apparently mentioned in a Vlad TV interview that he called it quits based on Simmons’ prior decision to remain a virgin until she got married.
It seems Simmons still held onto her religious beliefs up until a couple of years ago when she got engaged to Sutton Tennyson in 2016. Sadly, Sutton has since passed away, and although he is no longer with her, Angela Simmons has stated that he left her with the greatest gift and the most precious reminder, a son.
In the eyes of her fans, Simmons was also somewhat forcibly linked to her costar Romeo Miller. However, according to actor Justin Sylvester, Romeo is the one who is madly in love with Simmons and not the other way around. Sadly a feud developed between Miller and Angela while on the show, which left her to conclude, “if he’s in love with me, it’s a horrible way to go about it.”
One other person who could be foaming at the mouth as a result of the recent reveal of her new boxer bae, is rapper Yo Gotti. No matter the occasion or setting, the Memphis rapper never hesitates to shoot his shot at the lovely Simmons. He even gave her a nice one-liner in his hit single “Down In The DM.”
Clearly, Simmons and Jacobs are telling their suitors and love interests to eat their hearts out after posing in formal getup in the images shared by Angela on her Instagram account over the weekend. In one photo, the pair stare deeply into each other’s eyes as they hold hands, a truly powerful shot. The caption left below the images is also simple but symbolic, or so we assume. Simmons posted a black heart followed by the term “TKO” with a boxer glove emoji added.
