Texas high school students walked out of class over gun violence. Now they are the victims.

Just 28 days ago, students at Santa Fe High School walked out of class along with teens across the country to demand an end to the bloodshed that has rippled through U.S. schools.
The Texas students distributed fact sheets on gun violence, they wore orange ribbons, they read a poem from a survivor of the Valentine’s Day massacre at a Parkland, Fla., high school.
They observed 17 minutes of silence on National Walkout Day, the 19th anniversary of a shooting at Columbine, a massacre in 1999 that triggered one of the first national debates over gun-control laws and school security.
On Friday, those same students — young people who have never known a world without active shooter drills in their classrooms — became the latest victims when bullets rained down again.
Police say nine students and one adult were killed when a gunman opened fire at the school. Explosives were found on the school campus and off the grounds.
This time it was the Santa Fe students whose frantic parents raced to the scene, this time it was the Santa Fe students whose anguished voices described the horror and panic that erupted at the start of the school day……..

Starbucks’ plan to close more than 8,000 locations on May 29 for employees to receive racial bias education can’t come soon enough for one Los Angeles-area man.
The man, who the media has identified as both “Pedro” and “Peter,” ordered two iced coffee drinks Tuesday afternoon at a Starbucks in La Canada.
An employee called out the name “Pedro” when the order was ready at the counter. But the drinks came with something the customer didn’t expect, want or desire: On both cups, according to KNBC-TV, the word “beaner” was written.
“It’s an offensive word used towards Latinos,” Pedro told KNBC’s sister station, Telemundo 52……..

The year was 1985. This is pre internet, smartphones, Twitter, Black Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Black folks of 1985 was listening to the radio or on the move with their Walkman. The R&B radio station I was bumpin’ to in my home city and state of Tacoma WA was 1250 Kfox am and one of the songs topping the 1# spot in the U.S R&B top 40 for 1 week was Hangin’ On A String by a British R&B Band called Loose Ends. Notice you can understand EVERY word. And the lead singers aren’t cussing and no one is saying nigga every few verses. The message is simple and to the point. Back in 1985 the radio personalities choose the song being played. They got to play what they liked and thought their listening audience might like it too. This song was on the niddle every time this song was requested. I even remember calling in to request this jam!

Woman fired after cops seize laxative-laced brownies

SALINE, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan engineering company employee has been fired after police determined she baked laxatives into brownies intended for a departing colleague’s send-off.
Saline police Chief Jerrod Hart says officers confiscated the tainted confections May 3 after another employee tipped off management. No one ate the brownies.
The Ann Arbor News reports that Hart says the 47-year-old woman initially denied putting laxatives in the brownies, but after learning investigators would test them she admitted she had. Her name hasn’t been released……

Rapper T.I. misplaced house keys and the security guard T.I. arested

After a Tuesday night out, Atlanta based rapper T.I. attempted to reenter his gated community home, but realized he misplaced his keys. Apparently the security guard wasn’t interested in letting him into his home, and an altercation occurred, which ended up in T.I. being arrested at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to the Associated Press, T.I. (born Clifford Harris) was hit with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and simple assault charges. Before his arrest, T.I. attempted to contact a friend, who came out to assist, who also ended up being arrested because of an outstanding warrant.
Henry County Police says the rapper was released from the Henry County Jail about 8 a.m. Wednesday after posting $2,250 bond. He did not appear before a judge.
