Woman finds out boyfriend has HIV, runs him over on graphic video
PHOENIX – Video that may be difficult for some to watch shows a man on a bicycle in the Phoenix area being run down by a woman in a Ford Mustang.
The incident, which took place at 13th Place and Hatcher on April 29, was captured on surveillance video that was posted to YouTube. It shows the Mustang slamming into the cyclist and sending him airborne over the vehicle and onto the pavement. The driver doesn’t stop, leaving the man in the street. Eventually he gets up and stumbles around. He lived but was injured.
A source told 12 News that the woman — Misty Lee Wilke — was the man’s girlfriend, but she had just found out he is HIV-positive.
BlueHorse Solutions LLC, confirmed to 12 News that it installed the cameras on the house that captured the footage about a week before the incident in late April.
A Maricopa County grand jury indicted Wilke on charges including: attempting to commit second-degree murder, leaving the scene and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Wilke is pleading not guilty.
She has a public defender, a court-appointed attorney.
12 News is working to get more details on this wild story and additional video from what happened before the Mustang plowed into the man on the bike.

Ohio Babysitter Faces Murder Charge After 8-Month-Old Boy Overdoses on Benadryl
Police in Ohio have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder and child endangering after the infant she was babysitting died in her care, allegedly of a fatal Benadryl overdose.
Officers responded to Hammond Drive on May 13 for an unresponsive infant, according to a Facebook post from the Reynoldsburg Police Department.
The baby was taken to a hospital, where he later died. He was identified by police as Haddix Mulkey.
Lori Conley, who was babysitting the child, was trying to put the boy to sleep when she allegedly administered a lethal dose of the Benadryl.
A cause of death was confirmed by the Franklin County coroner’s office.
Conley was arrested without incident Friday on charges of murder and child endangering, according to the Facebook post.
The child’s mother, Kate Mulkey, spoke out after the arrest.
“I want justice for my baby because this was something that was robbed from me,” she said, according to local television station WCMH. “I’ll have to see my baby in a cemetery, not in my arms.”
“He is not down the street, but in a cemetery, and going through this is not something any mother should go through.”

276 dogs discovered in N.J. home
HOWELL, N.J. – More than 200 dogs — including at least one giving birth — were rescued from deplorable conditions inside a bi-level home in what authorities are calling “an extreme hoarding situation,” authorities said.
“Most of these dogs have never seen the outside of their house before,” said Ross Licitra, chief law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In all, 276 dogs were found inside the 1880-square-foot home, officials said. Many were located on book shelves and makeshift platforms; some were even inside the walls.
“This is actually the worst hoarding case that we’ve ever experienced ever here in the history of Monmouth County,” he said.
He said most of the animals were in “fair” condition and authorities didn’t find any dead dogs. However, some of the animals were taken to get emergency veterinary care; few of the dogs received oxygen at the scene.
Licitra stressed the residents of the home, , were cooperating with authorities. The couple told authorities that they started three years ago with eight dogs. The dogs reproduced from there.
“They’re just not stopping it,” he said. “I think it’s just completely uncontrolled.”
As authorities were packing up and leaving, a weary-looking Joseph and Charlene Hendricks emerged from the house and walked down the driveway. When approached by an Asbury Park Press reporter, Joseph Hendricks asked, “Could you trim it down and not give us so much attention? We’re not bad people.”
When asked to explain how this happened, Hendricks replied, “It’s more than you think.”
With that, the couple returned to the house.
Earlier in the day, acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni responded to the scene, and said criminal charges would hinge on the condition of the dogs. Dead or extremely malnourished dogs could warrant indictable offenses. The situation may only warrant a municipal court disorderly persons charge or possibly no charges at all.
“It really depends on the facts and circumstances,” he said.
Officials from the SPCA, Associated Humane Society of Tinton Falls, St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, township police, and the county sheriff’s office, health department and hazmat team responded to the house on Bennett Road, Licitra said. Authorities set up a triage area to care for and vaccinate the dogs before they were taken to shelters. They were able to vaccinate about 80 dogs at the scene before they ran out of supplies.
Dozens of workers in hazmat suits pulled out dozens of dogs, including handfuls of puppies, of several different breeds, including pugs, chihuahuas and Yorkshire terriers.
As workers opened the front door to re-enter the house to remove more dogs, barking could be heard from inside. Some of the hazmat workers put on ventilators and air tanks, similar to what firefighters wear, before entering the house. Urine and feces were on the floor, and holes were torn through walls. A foul odor permeated the air.
Sheriff Shaun Golden said firefighters were using thermal imaging equipment to search for animals in cracks or crevices in the home.
“It’s a huge undertaking,” Licitra said of the effort to remove the animals. “Everybody is trying to get this under control.”
Conditions in the house are “deplorable,” Licitra said.
“Think about a house with 100 dogs living in it,” he said, shortly after the dog removal began.
The situation was discovered about 6 p.m. Thursday after an animal control officer was called to the location to chase down a dog that got loose, the chief said. The officer, with the Associated Humane Society, suspected more was going on, eventually made contact with the owners of the house and then contacted the SPCA, Licitra said.
“They called us, and this is what we’ve discovered,” he said.
Some rescuers suffered minor injuries: cuts, bruises, respiratory issues, and heat exhaustion. They were treated at the scene.
Authorities started removing dogs about 9:30 Friday morning.
Across the street, Suzanne DeGrande, 60, watched from her front steps.
“Nobody expected something like this,” she said. “Nobody expected this type of thing. I’m like in shock. I haven’t been able to get out of my driveway all day.”
She said she could hear barking, and her husband once went to the home to complain about the smell, but they never expected there to be so many dogs.
“Apparently they both had a problem,” she said. “I don’t know how they lived in a house like that.”
“I just hope that they both get the help they need,” she added.
Those interested in adopting dogs or donating to the Monmouth County SPCA can visit the organization’s website, or call 732-542-0040.
Other cases of animal hoarding in the New Jersey Shore area include:
– Forty dogs found caked in their own waste and living in squalor in a home on Spruce Street in Lakewood last year. The resident of the home, identified as Laura Giacini, was fined $1,900 and banned from owning animals, SPCA officials said.
– More than 300 dead birds found in 2014 stacked from floor to ceiling in the Little Silver home of Gretchen Rell, a former volunteer for the Monmouth County SPCA. Rell, 57 at the time, pleaded guilty to animal neglect and was placed on probation for five years.
– Sixty-eight assorted animals left to die in what SPCA officials described as “a maggot-infested tomb,” when former Toms River police dispatcher Matthew Teymant and his wife, Amanda, fell behind on the mortgage on their Barnegat home and moved out in 2008. Matthew Teymant, then 30, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty in 2009, was placed on probation for five years and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service.
On Wednesday, law-enforcement officers with the Monmouth County SPCA and federal agents rescued 17 pit bulls from a home in Asbury Park in what authorities said was an interstate, dog-fighting ring. The animals were seized from Mario Atkinson, 40, of New Street, Asbury Park, who was charged under a federal statute that makes it a felony to fight dogs or to possess them for dog-fighting. Authorities seized a total of 66 dogs, 44 of them from locations in New Jersey, in multi-state raids in the dog-fighting investigation on Wednesday.
Alabama Woman Faked Pregnancy, Killed Small Dog to Stage Miscarriage
A 43-year-old Alabama woman who allegedly killed her Chihuahua as part of a plot to fake a miscarriage has been arrested, according to authorities.
Anita Parker is accused of killing the dog, then cutting open the pet’s stomach to take its blood and tissue to stage the miscarriage, KTLA sister station WHNT in Alabama reported Friday, citing Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell.
Parker then called 911 for medical assistance and was taken to a hospital. The woman’s husband told local television station WAFF that his wife said she had flushed the stillborn baby down the toilet.
He was convinced she was seven months along in her pregnancy.
“I guess she pushed her belly out all the time, because it looked like to me she was,” he told WAFF.
It was later determined Parker had not suffered a miscarriage and hadn’t been pregnant, according to WHNT.
The mutilated Chihuahua was discovered by her husband in the trash can.
She “gutted the dog and used the blood all over my bed, like she had a miscarriage,” he said through tears. “I loved that dog.”
Parker allegedly pretended to be pregnant with his child in order to convince him to move back in with her; she faked the miscarriage in order to cover up the lie, investigators told WHNT.
The suspect allegedly confessed before she was booked into the Lawrence County Jail, according to the station. Her bail was set at $7,000.

Girl, 8, Rescued by Mother After Being Choked Unconscious by Man in Restroom of Chicago Restaurant
A man faces multiple charges after he allegedly choked an 8-year-old girl until she lost consciousness in the restroom of a Chicago restaurant last weekend.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. May 7 at Jason’s Deli along the 1200 block of South Canal Street in the South Loop neighborhood. According to police, the girl was inside the restaurant with her mother, but the two got separated and the girl went into the restroom.
33-year-old Reese Hartstirn entered the restroom and grabbed her, choking the girl until she passed out, police said.
According to a release from the Chicago Police Department, Hartstirn picked up the girl’s limp body and carried her into a stall, then closed the door.
Police say when the girl’s mother came into the stall to rescue her daughter, Hartstirn shoved the woman.
Other people in the deli who found out what happened held Hartstirn until police officers could respond.
Officers took him to the First District police station, where he became aggressive and started swinging his fists at an officer, according to authorities.
The girl was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital for treatment, but officials have not updated her condition.
The release said that Hartstirn was charged with a felony count of aggravated kidnapping and a felony count of aggravated battery to a child under 13. He was also cited with a misdemeanor count of aggravated assault to a peace officer and a misdemeanor count of battery.
Jason’s Deli released a statement to WGN saying:
We’re blessed to have a wonderful relationship with the Chicago Police Department. Many of them are our customers and because of their connection to our deli, this unfortunate situation was handled very quickly. We’re proud of how our team members responded and thankful that we have the kind of customers that are willing to lend a hand in a difficult situation. We continue to work hard every day to make every customer happy.
A Cook County judge Monday ordered Hartstirn held without bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court May 16.

Florida man shoots, kills brother over cheeseburger
ST. CLOUD, Fla. – An Osceola County man is facing first-degree murder charges after police say he shot and killed his brother during an argument over a cheeseburger.
St. Cloud Police received a call just after 10 p.m. about a shooting at a home in the 600 block of 6th Street, according to Central Florida News 13.
According to investigators, Benjamin Middendorf, 25, shot his brother, Nicholas Middendorf, 28, in the chest with a 9mm handgun during an argument.
Nicholas Middendorf died at the home.
“This is an impulsive incident that happened. Maybe anger, rage. But it was definitely over a verbal dispute that sadly, it was over a cheeseburger,” St. Cloud Police Department spokesperson Denise Roberts said. “It’s something that could have possibly been prevented, if he had held back those emotions.”
An arrest affidavit says their mother and the shooting victim, Nicholas, had been drinking with friends. Benjamin told detectives he does not drink.
Benjamin Middendorf was arrested on charges of premeditated first-degree murder. He was taken to the Osceola County Jail and is being held on no bond.

2 toddlers found tied, chained in backyard, Texas deputies say
The deputies knocked on the front door, got no answer, and went around back, using a ladder to look over the fence, James Keith, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, told CNN affiliate KABB.
They saw two toddlers in a state that Keith struggled to describe.
A 2-year-old boy was “chained to the ground as if he was a dog,” he said. “There was no slack in the chain. His pants were down. You could tell he’d been here for a while. And then a short distance away, a 3-year-old girl who was tied to a door with a dog leash who was just exhausted.”
The deputies moved quickly to release the two youngsters, but their work was not finished.
Inside the house, they discovered six children ranging in age from 10 months to 13 years, the release said. There were no adults on site to care for them.
“To describe this as disturbing is an understatement,” Keith said. “It makes you wonder what somebody’s thinking. How could they do this?”
Mother of six of the children charged
Early Friday morning, the parents of the six children who were inside returned to the house, the sheriff’s office said.
The mother, Porucha Phillips, 34 was believed to be responsible for caring for the two toddlers, authorities said. She was charged with injury to a child by omission with serious bodily injury and Injury to a child by omission with bodily injury and is being held in the Bexar County Jail.
Deputies haven’t said they’re searching for the parents of the toddlers found in the backyard.
Child Protective Services was called in. The toddlers were taken to the the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and are recovering, though the girl is in intensive care, Keith said.
CPS said one of them has a fractured right arm and wrist and the other has superficial injuries including abrasions and scarring, CNN affiliate KSAT reported. Six children have been cleared for foster care.
Child Protective Services said it had no prior involvement with the family, KSAT said. Authorities are investigating a report that a day care might have been operating out of the home, KSAT reported.
‘When we heard of it, it was bad’
Neighbors and authorities said they were horrified by the conditions the children were found in.
“When we heard of it, it was bad,” Christina Rivera, who lives nearby, told KSAT. “It was shocking. Especially something happening across the street and we didn’t even know about it or see it.”
Keith said he was glad somebody thought to call the sheriff’s office. He encouraged anybody who ever suspects child abuse to do the same.
“We are grateful that this person was brave enough to call us and that our deputies were able to respond when they did,” he said to KSAT. “I don’t even want to think about how this could have happened, how this could have played out, had our deputies not gotten there when they did.”

Teen Suspect Dead After Shooting Outside High School Prom in Wisconsin; 2 Injured
A teenage accused of shooting two students outside a high school prom in Antigo, Wisconsin, has died, police said Sunday.
Police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jakob Wagner. He used to attend Antigo High School, police Chief Eric Roller said.
The victims, who were shot as they left a building where they had been celebrating prom, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
A female victim was treated for a gunshot wound and released, while a male victim was undergoing surgery late Sunday morning.
About 11 p.m. Saturday, Wagner “arrived at the Antigo High School prom with a rifle and began shooting while outside the entrance of the building,” the police statement said.
Officers who were patrolling the parking lot heard the shots, and one of the officers opened fire on the gunman. Wagner was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died at 1:06 a.m. after doctors attempted lifesaving measures, the statement said.
Wagner is believed to be the lone shooter, police said, and investigators were executing a search warrant at his home Sunday.
“All the people within the prom were eventually escorted from the school and are safe,” Roller said.
Sonia Reed, whose son Matthew attended the prom, told WSAW that she was on campus earlier in the evening for the “grand march,” during which students and their dates form a procession and parents cheer them on before the prom king and queen are named.
She estimates that there were 100 to 120 students in attendance and describes the atmosphere as “festive.”
“I didn’t see anything suspicious. I didn’t feel any bad vibes. It seemed like it was going to be a normal prom,” she told the station.
She learned of the incident, she said, when she received a call from another mother who said police were at the school and had “somebody down” in front of the school offices. The person was wearing camouflage pants and a dark top, Reed said. Her son had already left the prom by that time, she said.
Reed, who moved to Antigo from Texas in 2004, said that although she wouldn’t be surprised to hear something like this had happened in a major city, she was stunned it unfolded in Antigo.
Everyone knows each other in the town of 8,000 about 85 miles northwest of Green Bay, she said. She described it as a farm town where many students happily participate in Drive Your Tractor to School Day.
“I have two other children that’s in the high school, and they don’t want to go back, period,” Reed said. “They’re just beyond freaking out here.”

2-Year-Old Utah Boy Beaten to Death Over Dirty Diaper; Mother Sentenced
A Utah mother was sentenced to prison Monday in connection with the death of her 2-year-old son, who died last year after allegedly being beaten over a potty training incident, KTLA sister station KSTU reported.
Jasmine Ruth Bridgeman was sentenced to serve up to 15 years in prison, according to the Salt Lake City-area television station. She pleaded guilty to a charge of obstruction of justice, a second degree felony, on March 14.
Two-year-old James Sieger Jr. was found unresponsive and covered in bruises when he arrived at Davis County hospital in May 9, 2015.
The boy, who suffered severe internal injuries, died following several surgeries, according to KSTU.
His mother, 24-year-old Jasmine Bridgeman, and her boyfriend, 35-year-old Joshua Schoenenberger, were later taken into custody on suspicion of child abuse, KSTU reported.
According to court documents, the boy had been abused by the pair at Shoenenberger’s home.
Some of the abuse was a result of attempts to potty train the toddler, the documents stated.
Citing jail documents, KUTV reported that the boy defecated in his diaper and the couple became furious, even taking the diaper off and smearing it in his face.
Documents stated Schoenenberger continued to beat the boy while Bridgeman went outside and smoked a cigarette.
“The biological mother did allow significant amount of abuse to go on without intervening, but also engaged in it herself,” said Lt. Travis Lyman of the Layton City Police Department.
Schoenenberger pleaded not guilty Monday to aggravated murder and felony child abuse, the station reported.
He was due back in court on May 9
