‘He’ll Never Be in a Fight Alone’: Virginia Dad Makes Feeding Tube to Match 3-Year-Old Son’s
A devoted dad in Virginia is gaining supporters all over the internet after sharing a photo of himself posing with his young son who was born with a congenital heart defect.
Robert Selby, whose 3-year-old son Chace requires a feeding tube, fashioned one of his own and glued it on to match his son in the Instagram photo.
“This was actually a picture from a year ago,” Selby told the “Today” show. “I did this same photo every year from when he was 6 months old, way back. Last year, he asked me, ‘Why do I have a G-tube?’ and I told him it’s because he’s so strong, because he’s Superman. He’s Super Chace. I told him he’s stronger than Daddy, and he said, ‘But you’re Super Dad,’ so I said OK, and I put a G-tube on me, too.”
Chace has had two open-heart surgeries since he was born and requires the feeding tube because he is under weight.
Robert said in the post, “As long as I’m breathing, I`ll always support my son and he’ll never be in a fight alone.”

Teachers under fire for naming student ‘most likely to become a terrorist’
Disciplinary action was taken against several Texas middle school teachers after they named a student “most likely to become a terrorist.”
The superlative was given to seventh grader Lizeth Villanueva in a mock ceremony this week at Anthony Aguirre Junior High in Channelview, Texas, according to news station KHOU.
“She said that some people might get offended, but she doesn’t really care about our feelings,” she said. “She was laughing about it.”
Her mom Ena Hernandez said she was horrified to find the certificate.
“I read it twice. I’m like, ‘What is this?!’” Hernandez told KHOU.
She said that the award set a bad example for the students.
“It doesn’t look good at all, especially coming from a teacher, a grown-up woman,” Hernandez said. “It doesn’t look good because everything that’s going on right now.”
The principal personally apologized to the family and the school announced Thursday that the teachers involved had been disciplined.
“The Channelview Independent School District Administration would like to apologize for the insensitive and offensive fake mock awards that were given to students in a classroom,” the district said in a statement. “Channelview ISD would like to assure all students, parents and community members that these award statements and ideals are not representative of the district’s vision, mission and educational goals for our students.
St. Louis Boy, 6, Makes Emotional Plea to End Gun Violence: ‘People Need to Stop Killing Each Other’
He’s eloquent, passionate and powerful. And he’s only 6 years old.
Jeffrey Laney of St. Louis apparently has had it up to here with the violence that he’s seen in the city.
So he’s talking about it — his frustrations and his fears — in a four-minute video that his mom posted to Facebook Live last week. Since then it’s been viewed more than 130,000 times.
“People need to stop killing each other around here because this is just making me feel bad,” Jeffrey says in the video, while standing in what appears to be a kitchen.
“I’m really serious. I’m really scared to die, and I’m really scared for my family to die. I’m scared.”
Jeffrey’s mother, Leanndra Cheatham, tells CNN the conversation that sparked his video speech was an upcoming event by James Clark, a local activist who does community outreach in St. Louis.
The violence has hit close to home for Cheatham’s family, too. She says her 16-year-old cousin was shot to death outside of his school last month.
Cheatham never imagined this video of her son would go viral.
“I post plenty of videos of him,” she said. “I never thought this could’ve happened.”
‘Gotta value life’
Cheatham thinks “it’s a little disturbing” that her son is so aware of what’s going on in St. Louis. She wants him to be able to just be a child.
“I’m a kid, and I don’t supposed to be knowing all of this stuff,” Jeffrey says in the video. “I don’t supposed to be knowing about all of these guns.”
But Cheatham says that Jeffrey sees the news and has been part of local events where gun violence is a topic.
If the video “changes the mind of a few or even if it’s just one person,” she considers that “a job well done.”
“We gotta value life,” she said.
Cheatham also says Jeffrey is excited about the video being so widely seen.
“He said, ‘Mommy, we’re going to get people to stop killing each other.’”
To this, Cheatham replied: “I believe you, son.”

Pennsylvania Woman Arrested After Allegedly Allowing Sex Offender to Sexually Assault Young Girl
A woman who police say allowed a known sex offender to abuse a child has been arrested on suspicion of endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and reckless endangerment.
The young girl was abused at a home in Overfield Township, Wyoming County, between June of 2015 and July of 2016, KTLA sister station WNEP in Scranton reported Monday, citing Pennsylvania State Police.
Investigators say Marion Keithline — who is now behind bars — was in a relationship with Eric Popejoy, a registered sex offender, at the time.
In February, police arrested Popejoy on charges including child rape.
According to court papers, the young victim told Keithline and others that Popejoy had raped her, but no one helped.
Courts documents also said that Popejoy and Keithline used Craigslist to advertise for sex partners, and the two would host orgies at the home while the child was present.
“Almost every night there was a different vehicle there and half the time she didn’t come home,” said Darryl Benedict, the suspect’s landlord.
Neighbors say when they learned Popejoy was a sex offender, they watched him closely.
“We watched the kids like crazy, didn’t let them outside to play by themselves. It was hard. It was really hard. My grandkids are here all the time,” neighbor Lisa Haraschak told WNEP. She said the whole thing “makes me sick.”
Popejoy and Keithline won’t be allowed to see the young girl anymore, according to police.
“She was alone a lot. We took her to church on Wednesday nights with us so she could get a little more group and a little more education on that behalf, and she was over here a lot of afternoons and spent time with my wife because she was not taken care of over there,” Benedict said.
Keithline is being held on $15,000 bail, while Popejoy’s bail has been set at $1 million bail.
Couple arrested after toddler dies from ‘wrestling moves’
ST. LOUIS — A 2-year-old Missouri girl died after her mom’s boyfriend injured the toddler using “wrestling moves” that included picking her up and slamming her on the ground, authorities said Tuesday.
Richard Gamache Jr., 24, of House Springs, was charged Tuesday with abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death. His girlfriend, 19-year Cheyenne Cook, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Jefferson County Sheriff David Marshak said detectives found “digital data” exchanged between Gamache and Cook that documented the abuse, including communications related to concealing it.
“This child was essentially tortured,” Marshak said in a news release.
Detectives determined that one of the moves Gamache used involved picking up the girl by her waist, lifting her above his shoulders and throwing her onto the ground.
The alleged abuse was discovered after the girl had a seizure on May 16, Marshak said. The child, identified only by her initials “AC,” was taken to a hospital and died three days later.
Gamache was originally charged last week with abuse and neglect of a child. The charge was upgraded after the girl’s death.
Gamache is jailed on $500,000 cash-only bond and does not yet have a listed attorney who could comment on the allegations.

Sicko wanted for hurling semen at women in supermarkets
Police are searching for a creep accused of hurling semen on women in Portland supermarkets.
The man allegedly follows female customers around grocery stores, throws semen on them and then walks away, according to news station KIRO.
One victim said that he threw bodily fluid at her twice — once in the store and another time in the parking lot.
“It’s creepy. I think you’re in disbelief,” the victim, who didn’t want to be identified, told news station KGW-TV. “Is this really happening? It’s disgusting, who would do this? And then it goes through your mind, was he watching me this whole time?”
Detectives said there could be more victims in Oregon unaware that he attacked. Authorities in Beavertown and Milwaukie are also investigating similar incidents.
Police said that the suspect is a Hispanic male in his 20s to 40s, and are asking for the public’s help identifying him. A surveillance image of the suspect has been released from an incident on April 5.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Portland Detective Chris Traynor at 503-823-0889.

Accused child molester impregnated 10-year-old girl, police say
Nicholas Deon Thrash is facing 10 counts of child molesting.
The victim’s family says the man accused of molesting and impregnating the then 10-year-old girl was no stranger. In fact, he was living with her mother.
The young girl’s grandmother said she met Thrash multiple times and never thought he would be capable of doing something like this.
She described him as polite and helpful around the house, saying he had them fooled.
She says her granddaughter is now 20 weeks pregnant. The grandmother wanted to share their story to let parents know how important it is to talk with your kids, and let them know that they can come to you if something isn’t right.
She says it’s heartbreaking to watch someone so young go through this.
“She’d come out and ask, ‘Can I get my Barbies?’ I said, ‘Of course you can.’ She’s still a little girl that wants to play, and now her whole life has changed. She’s scared, being in that for so long and knowing you have to carry this baby,” the girl’s grandmother told WISH.
The director of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana says conversations with your kids about appropriate boundaries are important and they should be had at a young age.
She said to be cautious of adults who are looking to spend too much alone time with a certain child. She says about 80 percent of sexual abuse occurs in one-on-one situations.
The family has not yet decided whether to put the baby up for adoption. In the meantime, they are in need of maternity clothes for that young girl. She is a size small.
Police arrest man who allegedly traveled to Utah to teach 13-year-old girl how to have sex
ST. GEORGE, Utah — Police arrested a man earlier this week after he allegedly arranged to teach a teenage girl how to have sex, but it turns out the “mother” he was communicating with was really an undercover investigator.
St. George News reports 34-year-old Jeremy David Demoss Fisher of California was arrested Tuesday and booked into jail on charges of conspiracy to commit rape of a child, felony enticing, soliciting, and seducing and luring a minor by Internet or text message.
Fisher began communicating with agents on May 9 as the agents carried out an undercover sting to catch suspected sexual predators. He began communicating with someone he thought was the mother of a 13-year-old girl.
“Fisher was told during the chats that the woman he was talking to had a 13-year-old daughter and wanted her to be taught how to have sex by a gentleman,” the arresting officer wrote in a sworn statement, according to St. George News. “When asked if he was into Family Taboo, Fisher responded ‘Yes! Love it. Watch mom daughter and son porn, or brother sister, anything that keeps it in the family.”
The man allegedly sent several pictures of himself, including photos of his genitals, while traveling to St. George for the meeting. When he arrived at the location agreed upon, he was arrested by police and booked into jail.
Parents charged, suspected of severe child abuse
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A local 5-year-old boy told police he would get so thirsty that he was forced to drink from the toilet. Police only learned of that after he showed up to the hospital with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
The boy had such a high blood-alcohol level because police say he was drinking mouthwash. Police also found injuries over his body. His parents are now behind bars.
Tyriese Howard and his live-in girlfriend Breya Allen appeared in front of a judge for the first time Friday. Both of them are facing allegations of child abuse involving at least two of the three children who lived in a home with them at the Westwood Village Apartments.
‘Hero’ 5-Year-Old Boy Saves Ohio Parents After They Overdose on Heroin
A 5-year-old boy ran for two blocks in the dark to get help after finding his parents unconscious early Thursday morning in Middletown, Ohio, police said.
Currey said he ran back to the house and what he found scared him to death: His stepdaughter and her partner had overdosed on heroin.
CNN is not naming the boy or his parents to protect their privacy.
Boy saved three lives
Middletown police went to the house, where they found the boy’s 3-month-old sister sitting in a car seat, crying. They later found two adults who were unconscious.
“This 5-year-old child, a hero, saved 3 lives today. How can something so awesome be so sad all at the same time?” the police department posted on Facebook. “They are supposed to be her guardians and never let anything bad happen to her.”
The father was revived after one dose of Narcan, a medication used to reverse heroin and other opiod overdoses, the police report said. The mother was given seven doses of Narcan and then transported to a hospital because she had not regained consciousness, police said. She was later revived and was taken to jail, the report said.
Ohio gripped by addiction
Ohio is one of many states battling a heroin epidemic. Last year, a photo released by police in East Liverpool, Ohio, showed two adults passed out from a heroin overdose in the front seats of a car with a 4-year-old child strapped in his car seat in the back. Earlier this year, a coroner’s office in Ohio reported it was running out of room to store bodies due to the number of deaths caused by drug overdoses.
In Middletown, police brought the 5-year-old boy and his baby sister to the station after the incident and gave the boy a badge for his bravery. WCPO says the children are now in the care of their grandmother.
The boy’s parents were arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment and disorderly conduct, police said, but more charges could be filed.
