Three NY prison employees accused of engaging in sexual relationships with inmates
NEW YORK — Two prison guards and a prison cook are all accused of abusing their positions of authority in Westchester County — by allegedly engaging in sexual relationships with inmates.
They were all exposed with the one device you are not supposed to have behind bars — a cell phone.
“I don’t want to get into the exact nature of what was on that cell phone. But suffice to say there was communication back and forth between Officer Colon and the inmate – which led to other investigations. The conduct with trail came with an evaluation of the cell phones,” said Deputy Chief Christian Nunez.
Iran Colon, of Staten Island, a correction officer at the women only Taconic Correctional facility in Bedford Hills is charged with rape and other crimes in a 19-count indictment for allegedly carrying on a months-long relationship with an inmate.
Garth Trail of Yonkers, the former head cook at Taconic, is accused of engaging in a sex act with an inmate in the prison kitchen.
And Melissa Hill, of the Bronx, a former guard at Sing-Sing Correctional facility for men, is accused of carrying on a romantic relationship with an inmate.
“The inmates are potential victims of blackmail, coercion, as well as other illegal activities that can occur outside of the facility,” said Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr.
3 young children drink vodka, simulate sex acts and poop outside while left home alone
GASTONIA, N.C. — Police in North Carolina found three children age 7 and younger drinking vodka while their mother was away from the home for at least seven hours, officials said.
Tyeisha Coneisha Streater, 26, is charged with misdemeanor child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Gastonia police told news outlets.
According to arrest warrants, officers found all three children outside the Gastonia apartment Monday. The oldest child had defecated outside and simulated a sex act on her brother. Investigators say the 7-year-old also wandered into traffic and tried to stop cars.
Assistant District Attorney Megan Rhoden said the girl had been exhibiting “very erratic behavior,” including trying to get into a laundromat, to break glass to get a fire extinguisher and to eat food off the floor. Rhoden didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking additional comment Tuesday.
Streater told police her children were asleep when she went to a laundromat with her 8-month-old child and that the empty alcohol bottles police found had been filled with water. She admitted leaving her children at home alone was wrong but said she was gone for about 90 minutes, disputing the police report
Streater is jailed on a $25,000 bond despite her request to have it decreased so she could return to work. Online records don’t say if she has an attorney.
The children are now in care of Streater’s grandmother.
Police probe 1-year-old boy’s apparent beating at day care
INDIANAPOLIS — A 1-year-old Indianapolis boy was apparently attacked at a day care center, leaving his lips, eyes and face horribly swollen and sparking a police investigation.
The boy’s mother, Tiffany Griffin, said she was summoned to the day care Monday afternoon a few hours after dropping her two sons off there and was so outraged by her younger son Jesse’s scratched and bloody face that she punched a day care worker.
Griffin told WXIN-TV that her son was hospitalized for his injuries.
Indianapolis police spokesman Officer Aaron Hamer said Tuesday that detectives are investigating, but that no arrest has been made.
The owner of the Kiddiegarden day care, Haben Ghebremichael, told The Associated Press that a 2-year-old girl had attacked Griffin’s son and that girl had blood on her hands afterwards. While it’s not uncommon for that girl to act out, she said Tuesday that, “the extent of the injuries just blows our minds.”
Ghebremichael said a worker at the day care separated the two children during Monday’s attack but the boy had already been injured by that time. She said her business began receiving harassing phone calls following news reports of the boy’s injury and was closed Tuesday. She said she wasn’t sure when it will reopen.
Ghebremichael said in a prepared statement that her business has never faced any allegations of abuse or maltreatment and it is cooperating fully with police, child protective services and state agencies. “This was truly a sad, shocking and unfortunate event,” she said in an emailed statement. “Our hearts go out to Jesse and his family and are praying for his well-being.”
Kiddiegarden is a licensed day care and was last inspected in October 2017, WXIN-TV reported.
Griffin said she doesn’t believe the 2-year-old girl attacked her son, saying that child “was small and she didn’t look like she was the violent type.”
She said that when she showed a photo of her son’s swollen face to the girl’s mother, that woman “started crying and said her baby wouldn’t do anything like that.”
Griffin said she isn’t sure if she can ever leave her children in someone else’s care again.
“I couldn’t protect him and I was trying to do what’s best for my kids like going to the doctor, taking care of my health and going to school,” she said.

Human-sacrifice obsessed teen dressed as clown to stab lover during sex
A teen mom with an obsession for male sacrifice has been jailed for 11 and a half years after she stabbed her lover five times during sex.
Zoe Adams, 19, dressed in clown makeup and put a pillow over Kieran Bewick’s head “to make it kinkier.”
She then told Bewick – who was 17 at the time – “trust me” before stabbing him in the chest, arm and thigh with a ten-inch blade, jurors heard.
Adams admitted to unlawfully and maliciously wounding the now-18-year-old Bewick with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Adams, who was fascinated by serial killers, had asked Kieran if he was prepared to be tied up after smoking cannabis and downing half a bottle of vodka.
Carlisle Crown Court in the UK heard his description of the attack in a police interview shown to jurors – including how Adams had appeared wearing the clown make-up as he lay in bed.
Detective Constable Calvin Greaves said: “Any assault with a knife has the potential for fatal consequences. In this instance, the young victim of this callous and violent attack has been very fortunate to escape with his life.”
“Adams told officers she blacked out and had no memory of the attack. Her 17-year-old victim is not so fortunate. He will have to live with the physical and mental scars of Adams’ actions for the rest of his life.”
“He has shown great courage throughout the investigation, not least in giving detectives a statement regarding the attack whilst only hours into his recovery.”
Bewick told police in the taped interview: “She said ‘does this scare you?’ and I said ‘No, can you go and wash it off?’”
“She was just standing there staring at me and I kept repeating ‘can you go and wash it off.’”
“She had diamond eyes, and a Joker mouth, with red lipstick on the lips, and she had her hands behind her back. She had a weird smirk on her face.”
Bewick continued: “She asked again ‘Can I tie you to the bed?’ I said no, and then she said ‘put the pillow over your face then it is kinkier that way.’”Bewick, who has a fear of clowns, claimed Adams had joked about it being the Kieran Killer before asking him: “What will you let me do to you?”
“So I put the pillow on my head. She had been tracing with her finger on my chest and asked ‘do you really love me?’”
“I said ‘yes’. She said: ‘Do you really want me?’ I said ‘Yes’. She put her hand behind her back, I thought that she had my phone.”
“She said ‘put the pillow back on your face, trust me’. That’s when she stabbed me. I did not feel pain, but I felt the bleeding. I felt my lung pop and squirt blood.”
Bewick fled the house in his boxer shorts following the alleged attack last June with three wounds to his chest, arm and inner thigh.
Bewick ran the length of the street before finding Adams’ aunt, telling her: “Zoe’s stabbed me.”
The court heard how Adams had texted Bewick last June saying her sexual fantasy “was of a male being tied up and used as human sacrifice.”
Detective Constable Calvin Greaves of Cumbria Police told jurors a number of “highly concerning” images had been found on Adams’ phone – including an image showing blood around genitals.
One message read: “His wife cut his dick off and cooked it with noodles.”
Veterinarian accused of smuggling heroin in puppies’ bellies appears in court, to animal rescuers’ disgust
CADMAN PLAZA, Brooklyn — He’s a veterinarian accused of violating, in the worst way, his training to protect animals. Instead, say federal prosecutors and drug enforcement agents, Andres Lopez Elorez, 38, abused his animal medical training by implanting packets of liquid heroin into the abdomens of puppies, in order to illegally transport the drugs into the United States.
The scheme was disrupted back in 2005 by U.S. and Colombian drug agents. While a variety of other people involved in the operation were arrested and convicted, Lopez Elorez fled his native Colombia. He was arrested in late 2015 in Spain, where he fought extradition to the U.S.
That fight ended on Monday, when U.S. Drug Enforcement Agents were able to take him into custody here in New York.
On Tuesday, Lopez Elorez went before a judge here, and pled not guilty to trafficking heroin through means that are considered unorthodox, to say the least.
“It’s just all around bad,” said Phyllis Taiano. She’s the founder of For Paws Sake NYC, an animal rescue organization. Through her efforts, the lives of hundreds of dogs have been saved. That includes Taiano having gotten medical help for many of them. It’s legitimate help, as opposed to the surgeries done on the seven puppies, she pointed out.
“To sedate a puppy twice in one week’s time is a huge risk,” Taiano told PIX11 News. Complications can arise from sedation, and infection is a constant concern, she said.
Worse still, said Taiano regarding the liquid heroin, “if that packet opens” in a puppy’s abdomen, “he’ll die.”
At the hearing on Tuesday, the judge ordered permanent detention for Lopez Elorez pending trial.
Meanwhile, the dog rescuer said she wants the harshest overall punishment if the veterinarian is found guilty. “I can’t say [in public],” Taiano told PIX11 News. “Life?”
Since the puppies were seized in 2005, all have apparently died, but some lived happy and interesting lives. Two became pets, one for the family of a Colombian National Police, or CNP, officer. Another of the dogs ended up being trained as a drug sniffing dog for the CNP.
Lopez Elorez’s next court appearance is in June. He has requested a speedy trial.
Boy, 10, found dead inside dryer of Texas apartment complex; mom speaks out
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s office released information about the cause of death for the 10-year-old boy who was found dead in a dryer in east Houston.
The autopsy report revealed that the boy died from electrocution.
His mother identified the victim as Fernando Hernandez Jr., a third grade student at Harris Elementary School.
Hernandez’s mother said he was playing with his 9-year-old brother.
“I don’t know what happened,” said his mother, Christina Rodriguez. “I was just inside cooking and my little son came inside and told me my son was dead on the floor.”
In eyewitness video, paramedics could be seen performing CPR on the child.
“My boyfriend picked him up and brought him into the house,” Rodriguez explained. “He was purple and his eyes were open and he was gone.”
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
Woman uses YouTube, shoelaces and pocketknife to deliver her own baby
LA VERGNE, Tenn. — A La Vergne woman delivered her own baby under unbelievable circumstances while on a layover in Istanbul. Her incredible story has gone viral.
Tia Freeman was flying from Tennessee to Turkey when she started feeling sick.
“I was like, I’ll just sleep it off, sleep cures everything,” Freeman said. “So I go to sleep and wake up as we’re landing and I notice my cramps have gotten astronomically worse.”
Freeman barely made it to her Istanbul hotel before realizing her stomach cramps were actually contractions. At just 22-years-old, Tia realized she was alone in a foreign country, and had no idea how to reach a hospital. So instead, she turned to the internet.
“I literally was on YouTube typing like how to deliver a baby,” Freeman said. “Scroll, scroll, scroll and yup, that video looks like they know what they’re talking about.”
Freeman said she pushed about five times when her baby boy decided to enter the world. Then, a wiki-how article walked her through how to cut her son’s umbilical cord. Instead of using clamps and a surgical knife, she used shoelaces and a pocketknife that she sterilized in an electronic tea kettle.
Tia and her son slept through the night, then took a cab back to the airport the next morning.
“Immediately, security knew something was up,” she said. “They called in a doctor and nurse and I called the U.S. consulate.”
It took several hours to sort out the details, but Tia’s child was issued an emergency passport and allowed to fly home when he was 2 weeks old.
Tia tweeted the ordeal and her story has now been shared internationally. Both she and baby Xavier are healthy.

7 Children Killed, 12 Injured in Knife Attack at Middle School in China
At least seven students were killed and 12 injured in a knife attack at a middle school in Shaanxi province, China, on Friday evening, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
A male suspect was arrested by police and an investigation is ongoing, Xinhua reported, citing local government officials.
Knife attacks at schools in China are common. Last year, a man climbed over the wall of a kindergarten and attacked 11 students. None suffered life-threatening injuries.
In 2016, a man in the southern province of Hainan stabbed 10 children before killing himself, authorities said.
And another man killed three students at a school in 2014 before jumping off a building.
But perhaps the worst spate of stabbings occurred in 2010, which included a period of three consecutive days in which attackers targeted schools. China’s Ministry of Education responded to those events by ordering schools to beef up security and bar strangers from going on campuses.
China also began requiring people to register with the government when buying large knives.

Doctor allegedly threatened to slit employees’ throats and cut their heads off
A doctor in Georgia has been charged with making terroristic threats after she allegedly threated to “slit” her employees’ throats.
Marian Antoinette Patterson, a family practice doctor who’s worked in the Valdosta area for almost 30 years, allegedly shouted a slew of threats at her employees, WCTV reported.
Authorities reportedly responded to Patterson’s South Georgia practice on Feb. 21 after reports of a disturbance.
Patterson, according to authorities, told employees she would “slit their throats,” and even told one worker she was going to “cut her head off and roll it down the hallway,” and that she’d call the employee’s children to show them.
The doctor allegedly grabbed at least one employee and threw a catalog, reflex hammer and prescription bottles, along with trying to throw a large potted plant. Patterson also tossed water on two employees, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Ashley Paulk called Patterson’s situation “unfortunate,” and blamed issues happening in her life for her actions.
Patterson’s medical license was temporarily suspended in March, according to Georgia Composite Medical Board records. WCTV reported the board mentioned the Feb. 21 incident in the suspension order and reportedly said it had received allegations that Patterson had been under the influence at the office several times.
Patterson has been charged with three counts of terroristic threats and false imprisonment, according to reports. She turned herself in last week and has since been released on bail.

Florida dad angered by ‘highly inappropriate’ question on daughter’s anatomy assignment
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Florida school is thanking a father for bringing a ‘highly inappropriate’ homework assignment to their attention.
Omar Austin demanded answers from Westside High School in Jacksonville after seeing his 11th-grade daughter’s homework for anatomy class, according to WTLV.
Austin posted a Facebook video of himself reading from the homework with the caption, “This needs to be seen. WTH is going on in our schools???”
One of the questions on the assignment read:
“Ursula was devastated when her boyfriend broke up with her after having sex. To get revenge, she had sex with his best friend the next day. Ursula had a beautiful baby girl 9 months later. Ursula has type O blood, her ex-boyfriend is type AB blood, and his best friend is type A blood. If her baby daddy is her ex-boyfriend, what could her baby’s possible blood type(s) NOT be?”
Austin said he thought it was a joke at first, telling WTLV that the it was a question better left for “reality TV and soap operas,” and lacked morality.
“The words ‘baby daddy’ and ‘baby mama’ being used, that’s foresight,” Austin told WTLV. “The fact that she’s having sex with one guy and to get revenge on this guy she has sex with his best friend the next day? I mean, that’s just not something that I want to teach any student.”
Austin said he doesn’t fault the school after the principal told him the assignment came from the school district, so now he is pushing for change from Duval County Public Schools.
School district officials said in a statement to WTLV that “the question was highly inappropriate and was not part of a district assessment.” Duval County Public Schools thanked Austin for speaking out and said they are conducting a full review of the situation to find out how a student could have received that worksheet.
Officials added that “appropriate and corrective action will be taken.”
