Kanye West goes on a Trump rant from ‘SNL’ stage as show ends
The credits began to roll on “Saturday Night Live,” but musical guest Kanye West still had plenty to say.
After performing several songs on the show Saturday, the rapper went on a rant about President Trump as “SNL” went off the air.
West’s comments were captured by comedian and former “SNL” cast member Chris Rock, who posted a video on Instagram Stories from his verified account.
“I want to cry right now, black man in America, supposed to keep what you’re feeling inside right now,” West sang while wearing what appeared to be a “Make America Great Again” hat.
The musical artist has long drawn controversy for his vocal support of President Trump and other, inflammatory comments.
“There’s so many times I talk to like a white person about this and they say, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist,’” West said from the stage as other musicians, cast members and guests — including Saturday’s host, Adam Driver — stood behind him.
“Well, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
West also said that the country needs to have “a dialogue and not a diatribe.” His speech was met with a mix of boos and cheers from the audience.
The rant followed a performance earlier in the show that had West, along with Lil Pump and Adele Givens, sing a new song, “I Love It,” while dressed as a bottle of sparkling water.
Those on social media found the musical performance worth watching but kind of bizarre.
“I’m watching Kanye on SNL and is it possible I inhaled some LSD,” tweeted Sopan Deb, a culture writer for the New York Times.
When contacted by CNN, NBC said it had no comment on West’s remarks.

Brother, 20, charged with murder after allegedly tossing 4-year-old boy from Brooklyn building
FLATLANDS, Brooklyn — The brother of a 4-year-old boy who was found dead outside a Brooklyn apartment early Saturday has been charged with murder, officials said.
Shawn Smith, 20, was charged with murder in the second degree hours after his little brother, Shimron Smith, was found outside their family apartment.
The four-year-old was found unconscious and unresponsive in the courtyard of an apartment building along Nostrand Avenue near Avenue J in Flatlands at about 3:30 a.m.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.
Police believe the child’s older brother tossed him from the roof or from the family’s sixth-floor apartment. Neighbors say the older brother has a history of mental illness.
One building resident tells the Daily News that the brother seemed to be “a little off.” Other neighbors recall seeing the alleged killer aimlessly walking up and down the building steps.
Parents say stranger breastfed their newborn after hospital mix-up
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A Florida mother says her newborn boy breastfed from another woman after hospital workers mistook her child for another.
Joii Brown told WJXT the mix-up happened just hours after birth, when the nurses took her baby to be circumcised. An hour after the procedure should have been done, Brown said she knew something was wrong.
“These two nurses walked in and they said that they took my child in another girl’s room and they mistakenly thought that was her child and not mine and she ended up breastfeeding him for two minutes,” Brown said.
Nurses at the Orange Park Medical Center blamed a “human mistake” after failing to notice the name on her baby’s wristband, Brown said she was told.
Hospital officials told WJXT that they will “do everything we can to follow the family’s wishes and support the family.”
Brown said she’s worried that her son might get sick, but the hospital won’t tell her anything else about the other woman, citing privacy laws.
The Brown family is currently considering legal options and are speaking with an attorney.

Autistic teen’s body found in feces-filled room in parents’ house
A “severely autistic” woman weighed 45 pounds when her body was found locked in a feces-filled room in Southern California around seven months ago, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Authorities found the body of Kaylina Anderson, 18, on March 10 in a home in Mesa Verde in the most southeastern part of California, near the Arizona border.
Her stepfather, Steven Williams, 40, and mother, Jill Williams, 36, were both charged with murder, the Desert Sun of Palm Springs reported.
Anderson’s body was found in a room containing only an air mattress with “feces found everywhere,” Lisa DiMaria, a Riverside County deputy district attorney, told the paper.
“It appears she was confined to the room 24 hours a day,” DiMaria said.
Her parents were arrested March 14 and were being held on $1 million bail each at the Riverside County Jail, Palm Springs’ KESQ-TV reported.
The couple was also charged with abuse of a dependent adult and child endangerment, Palm Springs’ KMIR-TV reported.
Investigators said in March that the victim suffered “severe mental disabilities requiring her to have full-time care and supervision,” the Desert Sun reported.
“Due to her diminished physical appearance and substandard living conditions, investigators from the Blythe Station and the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office told KMIR.
Three boys no older than 6 also lived at the home, the report said. They were placed into the custody of Riverside County Child Protective Services.
DiMaria said the boys did not have any visible bruises or injuries, according to the paper.
A GoFundMe campaign called “Justice for Kaylina Anderson” was set up in her memory to lay her to rest.

Man busted for stealing 150 pounds of waffle mix
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — A Georgia man is accused of stealing 150 pounds of waffle mix from a former employer and flipping it to a syrupy stream of buyers.
Peachtree City police spokeswoman Lt. Odilia Bergh told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday that 33-year-old Brandon Lee Nelson is charged with burglary.
Police say Nelson drove to his former employer’s storage facility in August and stole five boxes of Golden Malted waffle batter. Bergh says Nelson then covertly sold it to buyers who contacted him about the stolen dough.
Bergh says Nelson later was identified on surveillance video of the theft and arrested this month. He has since posted bail and been released. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

Authorities have arrested a fugitive Texas father who allegedly beat his 1-year-old daughter and used glue to seal her eyes and mouth.
Johnnie Lee Carter, 29, was arrested Monday in El Paso on a felony charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, according to the Odessa Police Dept.
Carter – who fled after police were called to a domestic incident Sept. 16 – choked and punched the little girl before applying super glue to her face, the child’s mother told police.
The woman told investigators that Carter beat the infant because she wouldn’t stop crying, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News.
Police found Crazy Glue in the motel room where the family was staying, as well a 2-month-old baby buried under several blankets and pillows, according to the affidavit.
Authorities are now working to extradite Carter to Odessa, roughly 270 miles away.

Woman accused of keeping her dead mother’s body to ‘see the stages of death’
ENFIELD, N.C. — Police have accused a North Carolina woman of keeping her mother’s body at home for months, saying she wanted to see the stages of death.
Enfield Police Chief Tyree Davis said on his Facebook page Tuesday that 69-year-old Donna Sue Hudgins told a funeral home that 93-year-old Nellie May Hudgins had died but she didn’t know where emergency responders had taken her mother’s body.
Funeral home workers couldn’t find the body, either, but they alerted police who went to the home and found the woman’s decomposing body.
Investigators said Nellie May Hudgins’ body had been in the home for several months before Donna Hudgins told relatives she had died.
Donna Hudgins is jailed on $5,000 bond on a charge of felony concealment of a death. It’s not known if she has an attorney.
Boy, 13, found naked, chained to door was forced to sleep in dog crate
PRATTVILLE, Ala. – An anonymous 911 call led Alabama investigators to a disturbing case of child abuse Thursday, according to the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a Prattville home to investigate the caller’s claim that a child was being abused, and found a 13-year-old boy naked with chains “padlocked” to his ankles.
“The chains were attached to a door preventing the juvenile from normal movement,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “Subsequent investigation revealed that the juvenile had been restrained by this method over a long period of time.”
The boy’s mother, 32-year-old Danielle Nicole Martin; stepfather, 26-year-old Joshua Daniel Martin; and grandmother, 58-year-old Vickie Seale Higginbotham; allegedly forced the child to sleep in a dog crate at night, according to the Montgomery Advertiser. All three were arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse.
During a hearing Monday, Autauga County District Judge Joy Booth asked the boy’s mother if she was on drugs, and Danielle Martin said she was not.
“That fact that you’re not on drugs makes it worse…,” Booth said, according to the paper. “How can you do these things, allow these things to take place, when you are in a lucid, conscious state?”
Danielle Martin replied that she didn’t know what the boy’s grandmother had been doing and claimed she “tried to stop her when she put him in the dog crate.” Joshua Martin also blamed Higginbotham, telling the judge that he wasn’t aware of what was happening because of his long hours.
Higginbotham tried to take the blame, according to the Advertiser, telling the judge that she “didn’t know what to do with the child” and did what was done to her as a girl.
The 13-year-old and two other children found in the home, a 12-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, are now in the custody of the Department of Human Resources.
The three suspects are being held at the Autauga Metro Jail on $30,000 cash bond each.
Stadium worker seen spitting on pizza in viral video may face charges
DETROIT – A video that shows a former Comerica Park food services employee spitting on pizza intended for customers has gone viral – now officials say the employee is in police custody and could face charges, according to WXYZ.
The video was posted to Instagram on Saturday and shows an employee spitting on the pizza, then rubbing the sauce in it.
The incident happened on Friday, according to park representatives.
“As soon as we became aware through social media of potential food tampering Friday night, we immediately closed that food stand and disposed of all the product. Food safety is our top priority and we will take any appropriate action necessary to protect our guests,” Detroit Sportservice said.
Quinelle May, the person that posted the video, said the worker was “mad and having a bad day” and also claimed to have done it in the past.
May said after he recorded the video, he went to the bathroom looking around to tell people about the video, but couldn’t find anybody. He said his managers got mad at him and shut him down when they tried to tell them.
“Every time I tried to talk, they told me to shut up,” May said.
He said he was told to leave and threatened with prosecution if he didn’t take the post down.
WXYZ has reached out to a spokesperson regarding May’s termination and has not yet received a response.
