Woman says man broke into her home, made eggs, bathed
ATHENS, Ala. — An Alabama woman says a man broke into her house and made himself breakfast, took a bath, and washed his clothes.
Mary Royster tells WAAY-TV she came home Tuesday and found a strange man who wouldn’t leave — he told her he was waiting for his clothes to dry.
Thirty-one-year-old Tyler Love is now back at the Limestone County jail on a charge of burglary. He had been released just last week after serving time for another burglary.
Royster says “every drawer” in her house had been searched through, and Love made himself scrambled eggs, took a bath, shaved and brushed his teeth.
Royster says finding the man in her home was scary, but he wasn’t violent and she can laugh about it now.
Video Captures Plant Worker Urinating on Meat Processing Line
A Smithfield Foods employee has been suspended and 50,000 pounds of meat have been tossed in the garbage after surveillance video appeared to show the worker urinating on the production line at the Smithfield, Va., packaging plant.
The employee can be seen removing his gloves, apparently peeing while leaning up against the counter, then putting the gloves back on and going back to work, WAVY reports.
The incident happened over the weekend, and on Tuesday Smithfield released a statement saying an internal investigation “revealed an employee had urinated at his station” but assuring customers that “the facility immediately halted production, fully cleaned the processing line, and sanitized all equipment multiple times before resuming operations.” The employee’s fate will be decided after a company investigation is complete, the Virginian-Pilot reports.
Video captures mom whipping son with belt for stealing her BMW
A Texas high school freshman went on a joyride in his mom’s spanking-new BMW, but his badass mom chased him down — and whupped him with a belt, in a caught-on-video scene that has since gone viral.
Aaron Campero, 14, of El Paso, disconnected the WiFi in his home to disable security cameras before he took off in the BMW on Friday, his sister Liza Campero wrote on Twitter.
“I shouldn’t be laughing but damn,” she said.
Their mother, also named Liza, was at work when Aaron called to tell her their WiFi was down at home, KFOX-TV reported.
As soon as he said that, literally, I got a message instantly that my WiFi was down,” she told the station.
The Beemer bandit first drove the car to pick up his best friend, whose mother informed Aaron’s mom about his whereabouts, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Aaron’s sister also called their mother to tell her the BMW 3 Series was gone.
“That’s when she told me to grab the belt and I really just ran into the closet and grabbed the first belt I saw,” she said. “She wanted to find him before he wrecked the car and before the police did.”
The boy eventually aborted his ill-fated plan to visit his girlfriend, who was at home with her mom when Campero arrived.
According to his sister’s video, their mother pulled up next to Aaron and screamed, “Pull over now!”
She then stepped out of her car, flung open the BMW’s driver’s door and unleashed on the boy.
“My mom said once she opened the door, he had a smirk on his face until she started spanking him,” Liza said.
The mother said she didn’t know her daughter was recording the beatdown.
“It’s my son’s well-being, his livelihood, his best friend’s well-being, not to mention all of the people on the roadways,” the mom told KFOX-TV.
The video, which was posted on Twitter, had gained more than 41,000 retweets and about 144,000 likes by Thursday morning.
“I feel that I have a debt to society and my debt to society is to make sure my children are productive, law-abiding citizens,” Martinez said.
In addition to the public flogging, Aaron has been grounded “until 2019 or further notice,” his sis said.

Secret camera found in NYPD women’s bathroom
A civilian security guard planted a cellphone in the ceiling of a women’s bathroom at an NYPD building in Brooklyn and recorded cops as they used the toilet, law enforcement sources said.
Pedro Rodriguez Sanchez, 34, was arrested on Wednesday.
He recorded multiple videos with his phone inside the NYPD Property Clerk Division ladies’ room at the Erie Basin Pound, sources told The Post.
The bust came after a female officer found the phone, left it and told a sergeant. But when they returned to retrieve it, it was gone.
Sources said Sanchez, who is charged with unlawful surveillance in the second degree, allowed police to search his phone. Investigators allegedly discovered that he deleted the footage but were able to get it back.
“Nothing’s ever really deleted on your phone,” a source said. “The computer-crimes unit can retrieve stuff.”

Man pleads guilty in elaborate cancer scam after fiancee turns him in to police
OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma man who pretended to have cancer and orchestrated an elaborate fundraising scheme has pleaded guilty and paid restitution to his victims.
Al Reynolds was arrested and charged in April of 2017.
Detectives with the Oklahoma City Police Department white collar crimes division spent months investigating Reynolds for preying on the sympathy of church members and raising tens of thousands of dollars for cancer he didn’t have.
Reynolds said he had suffered from several bouts of leukemia.
He’s never had cancer.
“This is what he does. He preys on people with money or Christian women or people who are compassionate and caring and giving,” said Reynolds’ fiancee Tracey LaValle who turned him into police. “He’s very charismatic.”
Reynolds appeared before Judge Cindy Truong in Oklahoma County District Court Wednesday.
“This defendant just defrauded good-hearted people who were very benevolent and loving and just wanted to help someone they didn’t even know who they thought had cancer,” said District Attorney David Prater at the time Reynolds was charged.
Reynolds pleaded guilty to five felony counts of obtaining money by deception and one computer crime.
He did a blind plea which means he pleaded guilty without a deal from the district attorney’s office.
Reynolds admitted his crime to the court.
He faces a maximum of fifty years behind bars for his role in the scheme.
His attorney, Keegan Kelley Harroz, is asking the court for a deferred sentence and no time in prison.
“All I can really say is he [pleaded] guilty because he is guilty and he is very remorseful for the events that did happen that did lead to this,” Harroz said. “However he has done everything in his power to make sure everyone will be reimbursed.”
Reynolds has paid the district attorney’s office $30,441, which is the amount of money detectives could prove he stole from his victims.
Judge Truong will decide his fate.
Reynolds’ sentencing is set for January 9.
14-year-old faces life in prison for allegedly killing teen at Brooklyn basketball court
BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn — A 14-year-old faces life in prison for allegedly shooting a 16-year-old boy dead at a basketball court in Brooklyn, the Kings County District Attorney announced Thursday.
Aaron Nathaniel has been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the DA. If convicted of the top count, he faces 15 years to life in prison.
The boy allegedly admitted to investigators that he shot and killed Oluwadurotimi Oyebola, also known as Timi, at Chester Playground on Sept. 21.
The 16-year-old victim was not his intended target, Nathaniel allegedly told investigators.
District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said the DA plans to seek justice for Oyebola and his loved ones.
“This tragic shooting claimed the life of a promising teenager with a bright future and endangered the lives of many others. Senseless gun violence like this is destroying too many lives, including, in this case, the young defendant who allegedly fired the gun,” Gonzalez said.
Nathaniel was apprehended on Oct. 3. Other evidence in the case against him includes video surveillance of the shooting, the DA said.
Oyebola’s family said he was playing basketball with friends after school, passing time until a church prayer meeting, when he was killed.
White Woman Dubbed ‘Golf Cart Gail’ Calls Cops on Black Father at His Son’s Soccer Game
A Florida woman is facing backlash after she apparently called the police on a black father who was cheering on his son at a soccer game.
In a Facebook post, Ginger Williams, wrote that a woman at her son’s soccer game on Sunday in Ponte Vedra, Florida, allegedly began harassing a father after he yelled “the ref is right!” to his son during the game.
“This woman, lets call her Golfcart Gail, decided to spring into action and rapidly approach this parent and remind him that harassment would not be tolerated,” Williams claimed, adding that the father told her he was simply speaking to his son.
“For whatever reason, Golfcart Gail just would not let this go. She continued to harass and beleaguer this parent.”
The situation at a child’s soccer game is the latest in a string of incidents in which white people have called the police on black people for performing everyday activities.
Williams added that the father offered to leave to avoid an altercation, but the woman allegedly “informed him that she was calling the police because she no longer felt safe with his threatening behavior.”
Video footage obtained by PEOPLE showed the father questioning the woman, asking why she was giving him a hard time. The woman is heard yelling at a person nearby, Maria Morales-Walther, who recorded the incident.
Chuck Mulligan, a spokesman for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department, tells PEOPLE that deputies got the woman’s call around 4 p.m. local time. Mulligan said the woman on the golf cart, a field marshal, reported that two parents were arguing.
However, police arrived to find the father, “Golf Cart Gail,” and Morales-Walther. In the video, the father is shown explaining that he was simply coaching and encouraging his son. And “Golf Cart Gail” is heard telling police that the man charged at her.
“This was nothing more than a verbal dispute,” Mulligan says, noting that no charges have been filed in the incident. “We talked to the woman, we said, ‘There’s nothing criminal. No one’s done anything.’ “
It is unclear whether the woman identified herself to the parents as a field marshal.
Gary Easom, president of the Ponte Vedra Athletic Association, said that a different father had been ejected from the game earlier for being verbally abusive to the teenage referees, according to First Coast News. Another mother had been scolded for using profanity, Easom added.
Easom further told NBC News in a statement that “authorities were not called solely for this particular incident, but as a result of a culmination of several immediate prior incidents.”
He said that if game attendees do not heed warnings, “staff is left with no choice but to call law enforcement.” Continued Easom to NBC, “That is an extreme circumstance which seldom occurs, but that is exactly what happened in this situation.”
Easom told the outlet, “Our team acted appropriately to protect the children.”
In the video, “Golf Cart Gail” can be heard saying, “I didn’t want anything like that done” in response the authorities opting not to detain the dad.
Earlier this month, a white woman, Teresa Klein, in New York, falsely accused a 9-year-old boy of sexually assaulting her, according to Time. She later apologized amid media backlash. Over the weekend, Hilary Mueller was fired from a real estate agency for calling the police on a black man who lived in her apartment complex for attempting to go into his home, according to the New York Times.
Husband Leading ‘Double Life’ Murdered His Wife and Tossed Her Overboard to Be with His Mistress
A Pennsylvania man who notified the Coast Guard that his wife had fallen overboard into Lake Erie last summer — later claiming that she killed herself because she was so distraught over his cheating — has been convicted of murdering her, PEOPLE confirms.
On Friday, a jury found Christopher Leclair, 49, of Erie, guilty of first-degree murder in the 2017 shooting death of his wife, 51-year-old Karen Leclair, court records show.
Christopher was also found guilty of aggravated assault, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, possession of an instrument of crime, firearms not to be carried with a license and false reports.
He faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole, according to the Associated Press. He remains in the Erie County Prison without bond until his sentencing on Dec. 11. (Calls to Christopher’s attorney were not immediately returned on Monday.)
The jury deliberated for just under an hour and a half before reaching a verdict, local TV station WICU reports.
Karen was last seen on June 10, 2017, leaving the marina with her husband aboard their commercial fishing boat, authorities have said. Her body was found three weeks later, on July 4, 2017, in Lake Erie, tied with rope and weighed down with an anchor.
During his trial, Christopher’s attorney, Bruce Sandmeyer, argued that Karen had killed herself because she was distraught over her husband’s affair and “had had enough,” the Erie Times-News reports.
In her closing argument Friday, however, prosecutor Elizabeth Hirz called the claim of Karen’s suicide “nonsense” and a “desperate lie” that was “completely inconsistent with any of the evidence,” according to the newspaper.
Hirz said that Christopher killed Karen because his “double life … came to a head” when his mistress demanded in June 2017 that he get a divorce.
Tracy Butler, who said she had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Christopher since 2013 — and that she lived with him for eight months — testified that she had been pressuring Christopher to choose between her and Karen, according to WICU.
Hirz presented jurors with statements that Christopher made in 2004 and 2011 about how he planned to kill Karen by throwing her overboard in one of the deepest parts of Lake Erie, according to the Times-News.
Jurors also heard a recording of a phone conversation in which Christopher asks his father to dispose of a gun, WICU reports.
In prison letters that were read in court, Christopher claimed that he disposed of Karen’s body because he was ashamed of what his behavior had driven her to do and that he “didn’t want anyone to know what she had done,” WICU reports.
He wrote: “I tied her to an anchor, and let her go.”
While a forensic pathology expert who testified for the defense said Karen’ss wounds were consistent with suicide, he conceded under cross-examination that he may have reached a different conclusion had he been the medical examiner in her case, the AP reports.
After the verdict, Dawn Leombruno, Karen Leclair’s niece, told the Times-News that it was upsetting to hear what Christopher had done to her aunt: “She would do anything for anybody, and then to find that he was treating her like this, it’s awful.”
“It doesn’t bring her back,” Leombruno said, “but at least we know she’s getting justice now.”
Ex-Football Star Allegedly Molested Girl, 12, but Said the Sex Was Her Idea
A former Georgia high school football standout turned temporary Atlanta Falcons player is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, PEOPLE confirms.
Justin Crawford, 23, is charged with sodomy, aggravated child molestation, incest and enticing a child for indecent purposes — all felonies.
Crawford is being held without bond at the Muscogee County Jail. His public defender could not be reached for comment. He has not yet entered a plea.
At a probable cause hearing on Monday, Columbus police detective Mark Scruggs testified that Crawford’s wife, had gotten out of bed around 4 a.m. Saturday and discovered her husband with an erect penis standing over the child in their living room, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports.
Scruggs said in court that Crawford’s spouse went back to bed but felt uneasy about what she saw.
However, in a later interview with the Ledger-Enquirer, his wife disputed the detective’s account, telling the newspaper that her husband’s penis was allegedly exposed but not erect.
“I did not see anyone having sex, or I would have called police right away,” she said.
Crawford’s wife alleged to the paper that he rushed off to the kitchen to cover up and later told her he fled the living room because she scared him.
She said he denied having contact with the child.
Later that day, the girl told her mother that Crawford allegedly came into the living room while she was sleeping and had her perform oral sex and had intercourse with her, Scruggs said in court, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.
Scruggs said when pressed by police, Crawford admitted the acts, stating that it was the girl’s idea, the newspaper reports.
Prosecutor Matthew Brown says the judge found there was enough evidence to justify the arrest and the case has been bound over to the district attorney’s office.
“At the end of the day the district attorney will determine what charges may be brought to the grand jury,” he tells PEOPLE.
Crawford first earned wide notice as a player for Columbus’ Hardaway High School, according to the Ledger-Enquirer, and he was later a running back for West Virginia University for two seasons where rushed for 2,245 yards and had 11 touchdowns, the Associated Press reports.
The Falcons signed him in May as a free agent but he was cut from the team in September, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.
Girl handed out cookies made with her grandmother’s ashes at high school, classmate says
DAVIS, Calif. – A California family is shocked and upset after their son came home and told them another student brought cookies to school baked with her grandmother’s ashes and was passing them around.
“This girl is going around telling everyone, basically at this point, that she had brought in these cookies to school with human ashes in them,” the Da Vinci Charter Academy High School student told KTXL.
He claims the tainted cookies were made by another Da Vinci Charter Academy student two weeks ago and given to others.
The boy’s family agreed to speak on the condition that their identities be hidden for fear of repercussion from the Davis Joint Unified School District.
“It blew my mind. I was really repulsed and I was upset that I wasn’t even notified,” the boy’s mother said.
What the boy’s parents were most upset about, however, was the way they say the school handled the incident.
The student’s mother says school administrators questioned her son, fearing he may have eaten one of the cookies. Her son says after being questioned he was asked to submit a statement about what happened and sign it.
“After that he told me not to tell anyone,” the boy said.
That student’s mother says she met with Da Vinci Charter Academy Principal Tyler Millsap and demanded a copy of the statement her son was asked to sign.
“The district seems to be a little bit more concerned about protecting themselves than protecting their students,” his father said.
Since the incident, the family says nothing has been sent to parents about it.
Both Principal Millsap and DJUSD declined interview requests. DJUSD did send the following statement Monday:
“While we cannot comment on confidential student matters, I can tell you that the physical and social-emotional safety of our students is our first priority.
We take all allegations of wrongdoing seriously and we conduct thorough investigations and involve the police when appropriate. When wrongdoing is found to have occurred, disciplinary measures are applied and at the same time measures are taken to repair the harm within the community.
This case has been particularly challenging and we have responded appropriately and in the most respectful and dignified way possible.”
Davis Police Lt. Doroshov confirms that there is an investigation into the incident.
