Man sentenced to 10 months in prison for urinating on Kellogg’s cereal conveyor belt
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for urinating on a Kellogg’s cereal conveyor belt at a Memphis facility.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Memphis says 49-year-old Gregory Stanton was sentenced Friday in federal court. Stanton had pleaded guilty in November to tampering with consumer products.
An indictment says Stanton was a contract worker at the Kellogg’s plant in April 2014 when he recorded a video of himself urinating into a bucket and dumping the contents into the Raisin Bran production line. He also recorded himself urinating into a production line a month later.
Stanton posted the videos on the internet in 2016.
Law enforcement and the Food & Drug Administration investigated. Kellogg’s said in a statement that it is pleased Stanton was “brought to justice.”

‘Evil’ suicide forum encouraged woman to kill herself
A young Pennsylvania woman with severe depression and anxiety killed herself after allegedly getting detailed instructions on a site that bills itself as a “pro-choice” suicide forum.
Shawn Shatto, 25, was found dead on May 22 in her family’s Newberry Township home by her mother, who thought her daughter had been sleeping.
Instead, Jackie Bieber said, she found her daughter blue and cold to the touch after Shawn followed clear directions on the website as part of a three-day regimen that included over-the-counter medications to stop her from vomiting the poison that would ultimately end her life.
“Not one person said there is another way,” Bieber told the York Daily Record. “It’s like a cult.”
Screenshots of Shatto’s posts on the site show that she said she fell asleep and missed one of the steps, Bieber said, prompting another forum member to tell her not to worry.
Shatto also wrote down in her journal the list of substances she ingested from a recipe she found on the website, including exact dosages, her relatives said.
“She had her issues,” Shatto’s stepfather, Chip Bieber, told the newspaper. “We were working on it. But this website never gave her a chance.”
Shatto’s parents saved screenshots of her posts and gave them to police. They now hope to raise awareness that such “evil” websites exist and to hold someone accountable in her death.
“No one gave her an option to live or for help,” Bieber told WPMT. “How can these people not be held liable?”
Shatto’s aunt, Elizabeth Hoffman, echoed that sentiment, saying other members of the forum were “cheering her on to the finish line of a suicide.”
Newberry Township Police Chief Steve Lutz told the York Daily Record that investigators were “looking into” the website, along with claims made by Shatto’s family.
York County Coroner Pam Gay, meanwhile, characterized Shatto’s death as “very disturbing” and questioned why others online didn’t do more to get Shatto the mental health help she so desperately needed.
“How can people do that and have a conscience and go to bed?” Gay told the newspaper. “It’s just disturbing.”
An administrator at the website has acknowledged Shatto’s death and confirmed that it deleted her final posts.
Shortly after her death, the site posted a disclaimer telling visitors that it serves as a forum to discuss mental illness and suicide from a “perspective of suicidal people,” as well as its moral implications.
“This is a pro-choice forum, not a pro-suicide forum,” the site read. “We are not a pro-suicide forum, nor do we encourage anyone here to commit suicide. We do not provide the means or the tools to do so either.”
The disclaimer urged anyone feeling suicidal to call a suicide hotline, but also warned that some people may be involuntarily committed to a mental health facility if they do so.
And while the administrator said he doesn’t blame Shatto’s family for wanting someone at the site to be held culpable in her death, he dismissed the allegations that Shatto was encouraged to kill herself.
“The demonization of this forum by family members and friends of the deceased member on Facebook has been sickening for me to watch,” the post read. “To say that our community encourages people to commit suicide is simply not true. To say that this forum ‘murdered’ this member is false.”
Shatto’s funeral was held Wednesday in Harrisburg. Her family asked for contributions to be made in her memory to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, WHTM reports.

Four charged with running porn company in presence of 7-year-old
New Jersey cops arrested four people on Wednesday who were allegedly running a porn company out of their home — while a 7-year-old child was present, prosecutors said.
The group not only filmed in front of the youngster, but also took sexually explicit photos and videos of them as well, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Their arrests were made following a five-month investigation.
“In January of 2019, the Prosecutor’s Office received a referral from the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency reporting that a 7-year old child was residing in a home on Coburn Lane in Franklin Township, N.J.,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Marina E. Volz, 30; Ashley D. Romero, 26; Sean F. Allen, 51; and Dulcinea Gnecco, 19, were all living at the home at the time. Volz — formerly known as Matthew Volz before transitioning to become a woman — was allegedly “creating pornography” with his roommates.
“On January 28 … a search warrant was executed at the residence and it was discovered that the child was in fact residing in the home where a pornography production company was being operated, exposing the child to sexually-explicit matter,” prosecutors said. “Electronic items, including cell phones and computers were seized for forensic examination … During the examination and analysis of the electronic devices, several sexually-explicit photos and videos of the 7-year old victim were located.”
As a result, cops removed the child from the home and placed them in the care of the Division of Child Protection and Permanency. Prosecutors said they didn’t want to charge Volz and the others until after the exam results and analysis were fully complete.
The new evidence led to all four being charged Wednesday with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated sexual assault for Voz, Allen and Romero. Prosecutors have not said how the child is connected to them.

Bronx dad allegedly slashes his children during standoff with police
Bronx — A Bronx dad allegedly slashed his children during a standoff with police on Tuesday night, police said.
The man barricaded himself with his 12-year-old son and his 18-year-old daughter on Irwin Avenue around 11 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said. The standoff ended about an hour later.
Both of the children were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian The Allen Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.
The dad, who’s being treated as an emotionally disturbed person, has been charged with assault and weapon possession.
Police have not said what led up to the standoff and slashing.

FL Teacher writes ‘WTF is this?’ on student’s homework
BAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida teacher didn’t give her student an “F.” Instead, she wrote “WTF” on a paper to signal he would be getting “absolutely no credit.”
Melinda Smith says she was shocked when her son handed her his science homework with WTF – an acronym containing a swear word – written across the top.
“Just seeing ‘WTF,’ what is this? … It wasn’t anything about not getting the credit, it was more so the language, Smith told WJHG, which she called “inappropriate and not acceptable.”
“I think for sure she needs to be reprimanded. I believe that something should be placed in her file,” Smith continued.
WJHG reports the teacher does not want to respond publicly to the situation.
Rutherford High School Principal Coy Pilson said they are taking the necessary steps to deal with the incident and does not want to release the teacher’s name at this time.
“Once we were notified, I notified district officials and our HR has been involved and they’re currently investigating the situation,” Pilson told WJHG.
He said he has spoken with the teacher regarding appropriate classroom conduct.
“She was apologetic and it was a mistake on her part,” he said.
It is unclear if any action will be taken against the teacher.

White Woman With a Gun Tells Black Couple to Leave Mississippi Campground
A white woman who threatened a black couple at a campground in Mississippi with a gun because they did not have a reservation has been fired.
On Tuesday, Kampgrounds of America spokesman Mike Gast told The Associated Press that the unidentified employee had been fired, adding the company “does not condone the use of a firearm in any manner.”
On Sunday, Jessica Richardson and her husband were trying to enjoy a picnic with their dog by Oktibbeha County Lake, located approximately 12 miles northwest of Starkville, Mississippi.
When the couple arrived at the nearby Kampgrounds of America they reportedly asked at the reception whether they needed to stay at the campsite to spend the day by the nearby lake and were told access to the latter was not exclusive to guests.
However, soon after they started walking, Richardson and her husband were approached by an elderly white female, who pulled her truck up next to them. The woman then got off her vehicle and took out a gun. She ordered the couple to leave the campsite after learning they did not have a reservation.
The whole incident was captured on camera by Richardson, who then posted the footage on Facebook with the caption “racism is alive and well.”
In the video, Richardson can be heard saying: “This lady just pulled a gun because we [are] out here and don’t have reservations.
“The only thing you had to tell us was to leave, we would have left. You didn’t have to pull a gun.”
The woman, who was wearing a Kampgrounds of America T-shirt, can then be heard telling the couple they have to leave the campsite as they are not allowed on the premises.
“Well I’m just telling you you need to leave because it’s under private ownership,” she said before eventually putting the gun away.
“You can’t be out here.”
Shortly after the video was posted on Facebook, Kampgrounds of America confirmed they had been made aware of the incident and were investigating it.
“Kampgrounds of America is currently looking into the matter and reaching out to all of the parties involved,” it said in a statement.
“Kampgrounds of America prides itself on providing a welcoming, safe environment for everyone to enjoy the outdoors.”
According to its website, Kampgrounds of America is the world’s largest system of privately held campgrounds and the company operates almost 500 different sites across the U.S. and Canada.

FL Man Charged After Impregnating Girl, 13, Who Thought She Was Constipated
A 70-year-old man is facing multiple child sex abuse charges after allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old girl who arrived at a hospital believing she was constipated.
Renaud Jerome, of Boca Raton, Florida, is accused of three counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of impregnating a child after it was revealed the girl he had been living with was 14-weeks pregnant.
The 13-year-old arrived at North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach on the morning of May 24 to complain that she was in pain.
She was then medically assessed by doctors who revealed she was more than three months pregnant. The Florida Department of Children and Families and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office were then called, reports the Miami Herald.
According to a police report, the girl said she was living with Jerome and that he would repeatedly touch and have sex with her. The heavily redacted police report does not reveal what the relationship is between the girl and Jerome. The suspect, who only speaks Creole, told police that he looks after the 13-year-old at times at his Boca Raton home.
“Jerome stated that within the last couple of months he has had consensual vaginal intercourse with [redacted] three times,” the Boca Raton police report said. “Jerome stated that
was interested in him more than he was interested in her and never forced her to do anything.”
Jerome also admitted that the unborn child is his, reports The Palm Beach Post. He is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without the possibility of posting bond. A judge has also ordered that he has no contact with the girl or anyone else under the age of 18 pending the outcome of the investigation.
The age of consent in Florida is 18, although close age exemptions exist meaning those aged 16 or 17 can lawfully consent to sexual intercourse with a partner no older than age 23. No child under the age of 16 can legally consent to sex in Florida.
The state also introduced a so-called “Romeo and Juliet law” designed to stop teenagers or high school age couples being labeled as sex offenders for having consensual sex with each other.

Woman fatally shot while holding baby used her body to shield child
CHICAGO — A 24-year-old woman shot as she held a baby on Chicago’s Northwest Side Tuesday morning shielded the child with her body, police said, and later died from her wounds.
According to police, the woman was holding a 1-year-old baby girl believed to be her own as she spoke with acquaintances on the 1200 Block of North Mason Avenue Tuesday morning. Then, around 8:50 a.m., two males stepped out of a silver Chevy Impala and fired shots at the group.
The first shot struck the 24-year-old woman in the upper torso, according to police, and she sought cover behind cars parked nearby with the baby.
“She moved towards the rear of a parked vehicle and fell to the ground and laid over her child to shield her,” said CPD Officer Michelle Tannehill, Office of Communications.
After the shooting, a group of “unknown” people took the woman to West Suburban Hospital, Tannehill said, where she was later pronounced dead.
While police believe the woman was not the intended target, they say the incident was likely not random.
“This is not a random act of violence, unfortunately, police are investigating – it could possibly have been a targeted incident due to gang conflicts and retaliations in the area,” Tannehill said.
Area North detectives are viewing surveillance and video footage and photos as the investigation continues, Tannehill said.

Florida man arrested, accused of hitting mom on the head with corn cob
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Deputies arrested a Florida man after he allegedly hit his mother in the head with a corn cob, according to WFLA.
Cody Cummins, 27, allegedly pelted his mother with a corn cob around 2 a.m. Sunday. Deputies said the cob hit the woman on the top of the head, but she was not seriously injured.
WFLA reported Cummins left the scene but was later arrested.
Records show he faces a charge of domestic battery and is being held on a $150 bond.

Chicago Officer Fired After Being Recorded Asking Teen for Sex in Return for Impounded Car
A Chicago police officer who allegedly asked a 17-year-old girl for sex in return for getting her mother’s impounded car released by the city has been fired.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the city’s police board agreed with Superintendent Eddie Johnson’s recommendation to fire Officer Darius Alexander in a 9-0 vote after hearing conversations secretly recorded by the teen that confirmed Alexander was soliciting her and a friend for sex.
In firing Alexander, the board criticized the police department for taking more than six years to bring disciplinary charges against Alexander. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi called the delay “inexcusable and indefensible.” He said the department has implemented a comprehensive electronic case management system that will speed the process up by allowing supervisors to monitor such investigations in real time.
