Woman charged with capital murder in death of son, 8, says demons told her to sacrifice the boy
DALLAS — A Texas woman has been charged with capital murder in the death of her son after a relative told police the mother said demons told her to kill the 8-year-old.
Tisha Sanchez was being held Tuesday in the Dallas County jail on a $750,000 bond after being arrested in the suburb of Irving. The 30-year-old is also charged with assault of a peace officer and resisting arrest.
Irving police say they found the boy’s body Sunday morning after receiving a call about an unconscious person. According to an affidavit, Sanchez’s sister told police the mother confessed to her, saying demons told her to sacrifice the boy. The sister told police she believes Sanchez smothered him.
Police say the motive for the killing is being investigated.
Sanchez’s lawyer declined to comment.

NJ mom allegedly beaten unconscious by 13 year old school bully who threatened her son in hate crime
PASSAIC, N.J. — A 13-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly assaulting a mother and her son in New Jersey last week.
It happened on June 19 around 5 p.m. on Lexington Avenue near Monroe Street in Passaic.
A 13-year-old boy and his mother were walking along Lexington Avenue, when another teen approached them, the prosecutor’s office said.
When the mother stepped in front of the suspect, he struck her, causing the woman to temporarily lose consciousness and fall to the sidewalk, according to prosecutors.
The woman’s son was then struck in the face, authorities said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital for facial fractures and a concussion, prosecutors said.
The juvenile faces charges of aggravated assault and simple assault. He has since been released to his parents pending an appearance in Family Court.
The teen had been allegedly bullying the woman’s son, NJ.com reports.
Passaic mayor, Hector C. Lora told PIX11 he has met with local authorities and the school administration as investigation remains ongoing.
“As both a father and a husband I am outraged over this incident as Mayor these are things you wish would never occur in your city or anywhere. This incident is being taken extremely seriously I have met with and spoken personally with the family, I have met with my Chief of Police, local officials and school administration as well as board members to make sure there is accountability and that this family receives justice as well as any help and resources we can provide. The details regarding what led up to this incident remain under investigation however one thing is very clear what occurred to this mother is unacceptable and whatever we need to do as a city, as a community to do better by our families and our children we will do.”

Texas parents charged after newborn died with 96 fractures in body
HOUSTON, TX(CNN.com) — A baby girl in Texas lived only 10 weeks before she died with 96 bone fractures in her body, an autopsy revealed. Nearly a year after her death, her parents are now facing criminal charges.
Jason Robin Jr. is charged with the murder of his daughter, Jazmine Rose Robin. The girl’s mother Katharine White, is charged with injury to a child by omission.
Jazmine was born premature at just 29 weeks. She spent several weeks at a Houston-area hospital before she was released to her family on July 3, 2018 as a healthy baby.
Eleven days later, Jazmine returned to the hospital with “clearly inflicted head trauma.” The child’s parents told doctors that Jazmine had been acting strangely and wouldn’t take a bottle, according to court documents.
She died on July 15.
An autopsy finalized in May 2019 indicated Jazmine had a skull fracture, nine contusions to her torso, broken ribs and other injuries to her arms and legs. In all, the infant had 96 fractures, 71 rib fractures and 23 long bone fractures.
Prosecutors allege neither parent was truthful about what happened to Jazmine.
When Robin began dating White four years ago, White’s grandmother was immediately concerned.
“He’s a drug addict. We tried to keep Katharine away from him, and it didn’t work,” said White’s great grandmother Virginia.
Robin, who has a criminal record, and his girlfriend shared a Houston home together and have three children together.
“I called and asked what happened. Cause she told me she had to rush the baby to the hospital and she was having convulsions and all.. and she passed away,” she said.

Man says waitress described him as “fat” and “gay” on Texas restaurant receipt
HOUSTON (KTRK/CNN) – A man who placed an order at a Texas restaurant said he received a receipt with the words “fat” and “gay” written at the bottom of it.
The customer, who asked to remain anonymous, said he went to the Plush Daiquiri Bar and Grill in Houston Saturday night.
When he looked at his receipt, the customer said he saw this message: “To go dude with dreads, fat, gay.” He said he couldn’t believe a waitress would add that description.
“That’s like stereotyping,” the customer said. “For her to not even know me and say fat, gay, and this and that.”
In an interview with KTRK, the restaurant owners said the waitress was trying to identify the customer. They said she was remorseful and was suspended for three days.
“It was just her way of describing him,” said co-owner Marcus Barlow. “It wasn’t anything against him or anything personal. It was her way of referencing back who to deliver the food to.”
The owners also said these comments do not reflect their business, which has only been open for a few months.
“She was unaware that he could see it and she was very apologetic to us about it and she was disciplined. We do no discriminating at all at Plush,” said co-owner Leighton Dickson.
As for the customer, he said the actions of the server are enough to keep him from coming back.
“If anybody asked about it, I would tell them it’s a good restaurant. I have nothing bad to say about the restaurant. I just will not go back,” he said.

Fla. Teacher’s Alleged Sexual Encounter With 15-Year-Old Boy Was Caught on Surveillance Video
A former Florida high school teacher is accused of having sex with her 15-year-old student and sending him explicit photos, PEOPLE confirms.
Kassandra Moore, 31, was arrested Monday morning at her Bradenton home and charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious battery and one count of transmission of child pornography, Bradenton Police Department Captain Brian Thiers announced at a press conference later that day.
Bradenton police were first notified of the alleged sexual relationship in April when they were contacted by The Broach School, where Moore taught the boy.
When asked by a reporter how the pair’s relationship became sexual, Thiers replied, “It seems like she was a very friendly teacher liked by most of her students, [and] that led to him being a little more friendly with her in a private setting on a message system. How it evolved to the physical side of it, I don’t know that answer.”
The school became aware of the alleged relationship after the 15-year-old student told another student he was having sex with Moore, Thiers said. According to a probable cause affidavit, the teen even sent the other student screenshots of conversations between him and Moore on Instagram, the Bradenton Herald reports.
When police interviewed the teen, he turned over screenshots of explicit selfies Moore had sent him and also detailed the four times he and Moore met to have sex, the affidavit alleges.
“This is a person that has no business having any involvement with children. This is to me a predatory-type person,” Thiers said Monday.
Moore and the teen allegedly had sex four times between March 23 and March 29, the affidavit states, according to the Herald. They would have sex either in her car or in a secluded area in a local park, the affidavit alleges.
The teen brought investigators to the spot where he threw out condoms, and investigators found a used condom that had Moore’s DNA, the affidavit alleges.
One of the pair’s alleged meetings was taped on a surveillance camera, the Herald reports.
Thiers alleged Moore tried to cover up her crimes by asking another teacher and a former student to cover for her. Both the teacher and student are cooperating with police.
Moore is currently being held in Manatee County on bond. It was not immediately clear if she had entered a plea and attorney information for her was unavailable.
In a comment to WWSB, Rich Wead, the president of Children’s Educational Services, the nonprofit that runs The Broach, said, “Our students and families are our top priority and we are deeply saddened by these allegations. Once we were notified of the allegations, we immediately reported them to the appropriate authorities and the teacher was terminated. All employees of CES are thoroughly vetted and complete a thorough FDLE background screening prior to employment. We take these allegations very seriously and are doing everything we can to facilitate the investigation. Due to the confidentiality nature involving a minor child/student and to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we are prohibited from further comment.”
Thiers said he believes this to be an isolated incident, but he asks any possible victims to contact Detective Michael Page at 941-932-9314.

Man shoots infant in the head after being rejected by her mom
A 10-month-old Fresno girl was shot in the head Sunday by a man who was apparently angry that the baby’s mother had rejected him, California police said.
The baby, Fayth Percy, was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments from her head, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer told reporters. She is in critical but stable condition.
The alleged shooting took place at a home in Fresno. A man there tried to grab the mother’s hand but she rejected his advances, police said.
The mother later left the home with the baby and another male friend, police said. As they were driving away, the suspect, Marco Antonio Echartea, 23, began shooting at the car, police said.
“At some point when he got close, he pulled out a handgun and fired three rounds into the driver’s-side window, which was up,” Dyer said. “One of those rounds struck baby Fayth on the side of the head as she was being held by her mother.”
Police found the suspect near the home and arrested him on suspicion of three counts of attempted murder, the Fresno Bee reported. He was also wanted for another shooting in May. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney. No further details were released on the baby’s condition.

JoJo Siwa Addresses Makeup Kit Being Recalled for Containing Asbestos: ‘It Is Serious to Me’
Nickelodeon star JoJo Siwa has some “more serious” things to speak about on her YouTube channel.
On Saturday, over a week after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced her make-up kit tested positive for asbestos and issued a warning to stop using the product, Siwa shared a video on YouTube to address the situation.
“Recently it’s been brought up to my attention that there has been a problem with one of my products in Claire’s stores, with one of the JoJo makeup products,” the 16-year-old Dance Moms alum stated in the video. “I just want to let everyone know that, no matter what, safety is myself and Nickelodeon’s No. 1 priority in everything, in every JoJo product and in everything out there.”
“This product is something that, with a lot of things, that I put my trust into other people’s hands, [and] we are working really, really hard to make sure that this product is recalled and off all shelves,” she continued. “And also that anyone who has this product, you can get a refund… If it’s used or it’s unused, you can get a full refund.”
The YouTuber went on to thank fans for being understanding and said that she is not taking the situation lightly.
“But I just wanna let you guys know the situation, and I hope you understand and I thank you for understanding, because it is serious to me, and it means a lot to me,” Siwa added. “‘Cause it is my name, and it is my brand, and it is my face — quite literally.”
On June 6, the FDA released a formal statement about the product’s recall on Twitter. According to USA Today, the FDA announcement regarding Siwa’s makeup kit came just three months after other Claire’s products were pulled from the shelves for also containing asbestos, a carcinogen linked to lung cancer and mesothelioma.
“Today, the FDA is releasing new results from its continued testing of cosmetic products for asbestos & is warning consumers to not use 2 additional products that have tested positive for asbestos & have been recalled,” the statement read, along with an image of Siwa’s metallic, heart-shaped set.
Claire’s released a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
“Claire’s Stores, Inc. has voluntarily recalled the JoJo Cosmetic Kit out of an abundance of caution after testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicated the possible presence of trace amounts of asbestos fibers in the powder eyeshadow element of the kit,” it read. “Claire’s stands behind the safety of this item and all other Claire’s cosmetic items, as such small trace amounts are considered acceptable under European and Canadian cosmetic safety regulations. In addition, last year Claire’s moved to talc-free cosmetic manufacturing to prevent any further concerns about talc contamination. Claire’s also supports increased FDA oversight of personal care products.”
The “Kid in a Candy Store” singer first found fame after appearing on the hit show Dance Moms. She later took her talents to social media, where she has become a breakout star with her own YouTube channel, garnering 9.7 million subscribers.

She’s Mentally Disabled and Pregnant. A Judge Has Ordered Abortion
A UK judge’s ruling is being called “horrendous” by anti-abortion advocates, with even abortion rights supporters acknowledging how “heartbreaking” it is. Per reports cited in the New York Times confirmed by a court rep, a mentally disabled woman in her 20s who’s 22 weeks pregnant has been ordered by Court of Protection Judge Nathalie Lieven to have an abortion.
Even though the woman wants to keep the baby, and her mother says she’ll care for it, the judge fears there’s risk due to the woman’s mental issues, doesn’t think she fully understands what taking care of a baby would entail, and isn’t confident the woman’s mother will fulfill her vow.
“I think [the woman] would like to have a baby in the same way she would like to have a nice doll,” Lieven said. The woman is said to have the mental capacity of a grade schooler, a mood disorder, and a “moderately severe” learning disorder.
She acknowledged a
court-ordered abortion where the woman doesn’t seem to want it “is an
immense intrusion,” but added she was ruling in the woman’s “best
interests, not on society’s views of termination.” Lieven also said if
for some reason the baby ever had to be placed in foster care or
adopted, it would be more traumatic for the woman in the long run.
Anti-abortion supporters say the decision is “horrendous,” with commenters on one Facebook page calling it “devastating,” “criminal,” and “awful.” A rep for an abortion rights group says the case is “sad and complex,” but that “we shouldn’t undermine free, safe, legal abortion based on one difficult case,” per the Times.
Police are looking into how the pregnancy came about in the first place, per the Independent. The Catholic News Agency notes Lieven has appeared as an attorney in several court cases in which she’s argued for abortion rights.

5-year-old dies after being given 10 times amount of insulin in misdiagnosis
A British boy with autism died after being given 10 times the standard dose of insulin after bungling doctors misdiagnosed him with diabetes, his grieving parents have claimed.
Little Shay Turner, 5, was rushed to a hospital in Rotherham, Yorkshire, in March 2018 — but died four days later after suffering a catastrophic brain injury.
Parents Laura, 28, and Martyn, 29, claim doctors diagnosed him with diabetes instead of the sepsis that hospitalized him.
The couple is trying to raise 12,000 pounds to pay for lawyers to represent them at Shay’s inquest in October.
“So far nobody has told us the truth and we want to know what happened to our son,” Laura said.
“On Good Friday, Shay was unwell — he looked tired, he kept saying he couldn’t go to the toilet, he wanted to drink but couldn’t keep any water down and kept being sick.”
Parents had to turn off life support
“I thought he had caught a bug, but by the time his dad came home from work, Shay looked gray and we decided to go to the ER. It was obvious Shay was very unwell, but it felt like sheer panic at the hospital. A pediatric consultant came to speak to me around 11 p.m. and said ‘due to the laws of transparency,’ they had to tell me about the incorrect dosage. I asked him what this meant and he said, ‘I honestly don’t know.’”
A scan later revealed that Shay had suffered a catastrophic brain injury — and his parents made the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support.
His autopsy report said he died from multiple organ failure from an unknown cause with the possibility of Hirschsprung disease — a condition that is the result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the colon — leading to a bowel infection and causing sepsis.
The coroner’s report concluded that Shay did not have diabetes.
South Yorkshire police carried out a 10-month investigation into Shay’s death, but Laura said no further action is being taken.
A spokesperson for Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Rotherham General Hospital, said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are very much with Shay’s family and our medical director has recently written to them about the serious incident investigation which we are currently undertaking. Given an inquest is scheduled for the autumn, we cannot comment further at this time.”
