Young QC sentenced to 99 years for paying hitman to kill his mother – told hitman “make sure the b—h is dead.”
A Chicago man was sentenced Friday to 99 years behind bars for paying a hitman to murder his own mother in 2012.
Qaw’mane Wilson, an aspiring rapper who used the moniker Young QC, was found guilty of murder last March in connection with the death of his mom, Yolanda Holmes, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
“The word is ‘matricide,’ meaning murder of one’s own mother,” said Stanley Sacks, a Cook County judge.
Wilson was accused of hiring Eugene Spencer to kill Holmes. Spencer allegedly shot Holmes in 2012 inside her apartment in the Uptown neighborhood and left her boyfriend unconscious, according to the newspaper. He also reportedly stabbed Holmes after Wilson told her over the phone to “make sure the b—h is dead.”
Spencer — who was also found guilty of murder in March — was ordered to 100 years behind bars.
Following his mother’s death, Wilson allegedly took money out of her bank accounts.
“Whatever he wanted, his mother gave to him,” Sacks said Friday. “A car. A job. One could say he was spoiled. She gave Qaw’mane life, and it was his choice to take it way from her.”
On Friday, Wilson told the court that “nobody loved my mother more than me.”
Wilson is now 30. He was 23 at the time of his mother’s death.
He is accused of using the money he removed from his mother’s bank account to add custom features to a Mustang car that his mother had bought for him.
A YouTube video showing Wilson giving out money to his fans, meanwhile, was reportedly played for the jury.

113-year-old woman is world’s oldest person to beat the coronavirus
She lived through both world wars and the Spanish Civil War. Now she’s become the world’s oldest reported person to ever survive the coronavirus at 113.
Maria Branyas, who is allegedly also Spain’s oldest living person, beat COVID-19 after being diagnosed with the disease in April. She self-isolated at the Santa Maria del Tura care home in the eastern city of Olot, Spain and later tested negative, reports Newsflash.
Spain currently boasts the second-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world with 269,520.
Despite simultaneously suffering from a urine infection, the great-grandmother of 13 was virtually asymptomatic, according to her daughter, Rosa Moret, who calls her mom a strong and positive person.
“Now she is fine, she is willing to talk, to explain, to think, she is herself again,” wrote Moret on a Twitter account that she had set up for Branyas. She added that her mom is currently healthy, aside from some small pains, and is grateful to the nursing home staff for their care.
The supercentenarian survivor is lucky. The coronavirus predominantly kills older people, including 17 in one day at her own nursing facility last month, according to the Olive Press.
Branyas’ survival story marks yet another inspiring episode in her long and incredible life. Born in San Francisco on March 4, 1907, she eventually moved to Spain in 1915 because of her father’s work as a journalist. He tragically passed away from tuberculosis during the boat trip, and his body was thrown overboard.
After settling in her new home, Branyas eventually married local doctor Joan Moret in 1931 and had three children, 11 grandchildren — one of whom is 70 years old — and 13 great-grandchildren.
A near-lifetime resident of Spain, the centenarian has lived in Barcelona, Banyoles, Girona, Sant Antoni de Calogne and Palol de Revardit. She has resided at her current nursing home for the past 20 years.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, the hardy Branyas is the oldest person living in Catalonia, Spain, according to the Gerontology Research Group, a global group of researchers in various fields which tracks and documents people over 110.
The supersenior’s victory over the coronavirus places her firmly at the top of an impressive list of centenarian COVID-19 survivors. The former titleholder is Holland’s Cornelia Ras, who bested the disease at age 107.
Branyas’ family eagerly awaits visiting her once she’s out of isolation.

Restaurant slammed for ‘COVID-19 surcharge’ on meal
The owners of a Missouri restaurant are pleading with people online to stop harassing their employees after a customer posted a photo of their receipt that showed she was charged a “Covid 19 surcharge” for a meal.
The customer posted the photo of the receipt from Kiko Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Lounge in West Plains on May 11, writing: “Scuse me … what? A covid surcharge…?”
The tweet went viral, and Twitter users began hurling insults at the staff of the restaurant for the surcharge, the steakhouse wrote in a Facebook post.
They wrote that the surcharge was applied because of an increase in the price of meat and poultry because of the coronavirus outbreak.
“Please understand we are not doing this to take advantage of you guys!” the restaurant wrote in the Facebook post.
“We are doing this hoping we can adjust the surcharge weekly rather than just raise all of our prices on our menu due to increase prices from our supplier on meat, poultry, seafood & produce,” they added.
Meat prices in the US have shot up in recent weeks, increasing more than 8 percent in April.
In response to the backlash, the restaurant said it would take the surcharge off and instead raise their prices across the board. However, it added that it would be offering a “good promo deal” so customers can “enjoy our meal with a low cost.”

Black gospel singer, 48, is ‘gunned down during a traffic stop tussle with a Houston officer who was trying to detain him for DUI after he admitted to drinking one mimosa’
A Houston choir director and gospel singer was fatally shot by a police officer during a traffic stop on Friday, prompting fury from the man’s family who has demanded that the department release footage of the killing.
Adrian Medearis, 48, who was black, was shot during an alleged scuffle with a police officer who stopped him on suspicion of drunken driving early Friday.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Monday afternoon that he would not release the video until he could meet with the family and personally show it to them.
Acevedo also stressed that the county was a ‘unique community’ that had its ‘own values and expectations,’ which meant that if the officer was indicted, the case could go to a county where jurors had a ‘different mindset.’
When asked during the press conference if he had reached out to Medearis’ family prior to announcing his killing, Acevedo shared that he had left them a ‘message.’
The Houston Police Department said in a statement that Medearis was pulled over while speeding. An officer – identified as J. Ramos – conducted a field sobriety test. Ramos has been with the department for seven years.
The officer then tried to arrest Medearis on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the police statement. During the conference, Acevedo claimed Medearis admitted to drinking one mimosa.
Medearis allegedly resisted and grabbed the officer’s Taser, and the policeman then fired four times, including two rounds that struck and killed the suspect, Acevedo told a press conference on Monday.
No other officers were involved and there were no known witnesses, police said.
Acevedo said the officer’s body camera was knocked off during the alleged struggle with Medearis, but footage from other cameras captured the incident.
Acevedo said that before the scuffle, Medearis complained to the officer about the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, a black man who was shot and killed by a white father and son while jogging in Brunswick, Georgia, on Feb. 23.
The struggle between the officer and Medearis took about 2- 1/2 minutes, Acevedo said. At one point the officer had Medearis pinned to the ground. But when he let go with one hand to call for backup, Medearis flipped the officer over and the fight continued.
‘What’s sad about this is that by all accounts what occurred is conduct that is not consistent with who Mr. Medearis is,’ Acevedo said.
Family members of the choir director slammed the department on social media, however, horrified by the lack of communication they have received pertaining to the killing.
‘It is disappointing and absurd that Chief Acevedo would call a public press conference before speaking with the family of Adrian Medearis,’ said the man’s brother, Audrick Medearis, in a Monday statement”
“I am not only his brother, but am also a first responder and Cy Fair firefighter. I am very easily accessible to HPD. The Harris County Chief Medical Examiner is aware that I am the next of kin as I contacted the office last Friday requesting to view my brother’s remains.’
Audrick Medearis shared that as of Monday afternoon, he had not been told where his brother’s possessions or BMW were located. He also shared that the department had not invited him to view the footage of how Adrian was killed.
‘I have not been told how many times Adrian was shot, which areas of his body were struck by the bullets, nor if he was dead-on-arrival at the hospital, and if not, what lifesaving measures were taken at the ER to save his life,’ he added.
Medearis, a gospel singer well-known locally, was the choir director at the Evangelist Temple Church of God In Christ and several years ago formed the gospel group Standing in the Gap.
‘We are beyond shocked at the initial accounts of this tragedy,’ Medearis’ family said in a statement posted by Audrick. ‘Unfortunately, there are no public details available regarding the murder of our loved one.’
Audrick and the family described Adrian as a ‘talented gospel artist on the rise.’
Dav Lewis, a longtime friend of Medearis, called for releasing the video. ‘Everybody – and especially his family – deserve to know what happened that night, they need to see what happened to their loved one,’ he said. ‘We must hold the police accountable and we’re not going to just sit back and take the police word on this.’
Lewis said it would be completely out of character for Medearis to react aggressively during a traffic stop.
‘We deserve to see the proof of what police are alleging,’ he said. ‘Nothing is going to make sense until we see the video.’
The family announced that it will hold a private funeral for family members.
‘We hope to announce a ceremony at a later time where his bounty of friends and supporters can safely pay their respects,’ their statement read.

Woman shot and killed by Kentucky police who entered wrong home, family says
A woman was shot and killed in her Louisville, Kentucky, home by police executing a “botched” search warrant who forced their way in, surprising the woman and her boyfriend who thought the officers were burglars, her family says in a lawsuit.
The lawsuit — filed by the family of the woman, Breonna Taylor, an EMT worker — says she and her boyfriend thought they were being burglarized and he fired at the officers in self-defense. The lawsuit accuses the three officers of “blindly firing” more than 20 shots into the apartment.
After the March 13 incident, the Louisville Metro Police Department said the officers had knocked on the door several times and “announced their presence as police who were there with a search warrant.” After forcing their way in, they “were immediately met by gunfire,” Lt. Ted Eidem said at a news conference.
Taylor’s death gained national attention this week after the family hired attorney Ben Crump, who is also representing the family of Ahmaud Arbery, the black man in Georgia who was killed on Feb. 23 after being pursued and shot by two white men. The two men are charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Taylor, 26, was shot eight times by police. Kenneth Walker, 27, was arrested and charged with assault and attempted murder on a police officer. An attorney for Walker could not immediately be reached.
Crump called Taylor’s death a “senseless killing.”
“We stand with the family of this young woman in demanding answers from the Louisville Police Department,” he said in a statement Monday on Twitter.
The attorney called out the police department for not providing “any answers regarding the facts and circumstances of how this tragedy occurred.”
“Breonna Taylor was sleeping while black in the sanctity of our own home,” Crump said at a Wednesday press conference, adding, “we cannot continue to allow them to unnecessarily and justifiably kill our black women and escape any accountability.”
Records show that the police investigation was centered around a “trap house” more than 10 miles from Taylor’s apartment, and that a judge had approved a “no-knock” search warrant, meaning officers did not have to identify themselves, according to The Courier-Journal.
The lawsuit states that Taylor and her boyfriend, Walker, were asleep in their bedroom when police in plainclothes and unmarked vehicles arrived at the house looking for a suspect who lived in a different part of the city and was already in police custody.
The three officers entered Taylor’s home “without knocking and without announcing themselves as police officers,” the suit states.
The lawsuit says Taylor and Walker woke up and thought criminals were breaking in. Walker called 911 and police said he opened fire and shot an officer.
“The defendants then proceeded to spray gunfire into the residence with a total disregard for the value of human life,” the lawsuit alleges. “Shots were blindly fired by the officers all throughout Breonna’s home.”
The suit states that Walker had a license to carry and kept firearms in the home, and that Taylor was unarmed.
Taylor and Walker had no criminal history or drug convictions. No drugs were found in the apartment.
Her address was listed on the search warrant based on police’s belief that a drug suspect had used her home to receive mail, keep drugs or stash money. The warrant also states that a car registered to Taylor was seen parked on several occasions in front of a “drug house” known to the suspect.
Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, filed the lawsuit in April in Jefferson Circuit Court alleging wrongful death, excessive force and gross negligence.
Crump said during an interview on MSNBC that Taylor was “completely innocent” and went on to say that “black women’s lives matter too.” The attorney also called for the charges against Walker to be immediately dropped.
A police spokesperson had no comment this week because the investigation was still ongoing.
The officers, identified as Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove, were reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said on Twitter Tuesday, “As always, my priority is that the truth comes out, and for justice to follow the path of truth.”
Sam Aguiar, another lawyer for the family, said at a news conference Wednesday that he hopes the exposure Taylor’s case is getting leads to a change at the police department. “The truth will be uncovered,” he said.

Woman Freaks Out After Long Wait At Red Lobster On Mother’s Day
A Red Lobster restaurant in Pennsylvania received so many orders on Mother’s Day, the wait times for customers to receive their food reached over two hours at one point. A video now making the rounds on social media shows an altercation between a woman and restaurant employees that grew physical.
In the viral video, the woman is being forced out of the front doors of the restaurant while repeatedly demanding a refund, which the staff members assure her she will receive. Once she’s outside, she continues to try and force her way back into the building. She’s restrained by a woman who identifies herself as a store manager while other employees help block the entrance. The customer eventually takes a swing at the manager.
Local police responded to a call at Red Lobster on Sunday, said Lt. Tony Beam of the Springettsbury Township Police.
“We did respond, we talked to the people involved,” he said. Beam said that when officers arrived, the employees seen in the video were there, but the woman in the green sweatshirt had left but they were able to speak to her at a nearby location.
“She was upset because her food wasn’t ready,” he said. “She wanted her money refunded.” Beam also said that the restaurant was closed to patrons; only employees were allowed inside and that all food ordered from Red Lobster is brought outside the building to adhere to social distancing protocol.
According to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s orders, restaurants must either be closed or operate with a take-out or delivery system to minimize social contact during the pandemic. Customers at all establishments that remain operating, as well as their employees, are all also required to wear masks to enter.
Another Mother’s Day incident involving a Colorado restaurant also went viral this week, showing a crowded dining room full of customers dining in C&C Coffee and Kitchen. That restaurant, which was defying statewide orders by opening its doors to dine-in customers, has now lost its license indefinitely.
Red Lobster issued a statement apologizing to disappointed customers, noting that the coronavirus pandemic had impacted their ability to keep up with demand as some locations. The restaurant chain also gave assurances that all unfilled orders would be refunded.
“We do not tolerate violence for any reason in our restaurants. We expect our team members treat our guests with respect, and we expect our guests to treat our team members with respect in return. We are grateful our Manager and the guest involved were not seriously injured in the incident on Sunday.”

Indianapolis cop allegedly beat wife so bad, her eye came ‘out of its socket’
An Indianapolis cop beat his wife up so savagely, her eye was “coming out of its socket,” disturbing court records show.
Jason D. Norman, 41, was charged Friday with counts including felony domestic battery and criminal confinement after allegedly abusing his wife on several occasions, Hamilton County prosecutors said in court records cited by the Indianapolis Star.
Norman’s wife, who lost her right eye in February, couldn’t recall details from the day of the injury but told investigators of the bruises on her legs and the broken nose she sustained during previous beatings, court documents show.
A probable cause affidavit does not indicate what happened on Feb. 25 when Norman — a 14-year department vet — called cops from his Sheridan home to report that his wife had fallen from a bathtub, the newspaper reports.
Norman, who was not charged with causing the injury to his wife’s eye, told dispatchers her eye was “coming out of its socket,” the affidavit shows.
She later had surgery at a hospital but told cops a week later she couldn’t remember “salient details” from the incident.
However, she did recall two years of prior beatings by her husband, including one assault last summer when Norman allegedly kicked in a bathroom door, hitting her face and breaking her nose, she told investigators.
At another point, the woman said she tried to leave her home to give Norman time to “cool off,” but he blocked the garage with his department-issued squad car, court records show.
Then, in August, Norman grabbed his wife’s legs and pulled her off the couch as he watched a “political show,” thinking she had said something, she told investigators.
“[Norman’s wife] likened the way Jason David Norman pulled her off the couch to the way you would pull-start a lawnmower,” the affidavit reads.
“Just walk it off, it’s gonna be fine,” Norman told his wife afterward, according to court records. “You’re going to be fine.”
Indianapolis Police Chief Randal Taylor has recommended Norman, who has been placed on unpaid leave, be terminated, WTHR reports.
“No chief wants to be faced with the prospect of arresting their own officer, but law enforcement has a responsibility to do what is right and a sworn duty to protect our community,” Taylor’s statement read.

Partygoer jokes about having coronavirus — then infects several others
A California birthday party guest who joked about having the coronavirus ended up sparking an outbreak — infecting at least four others who attended the gathering, officials said.
The party was held in Pasadena — after the city had already issued its March 19 stay-at-home order. Multiple extended family members and friends who did not wear face coverings or stay six feet apart attended, the city said in a news release.
The “index case” — or first patient identified with the disease — was coughing as she mingled with the other guests, according to the city.
“One person showed up to the party exhibiting symptoms and joking she may have the virus,” Lisa Derderian, spokeswoman for the city of Pasadena, said in an email to the Los Angeles Times. “The aftermath affected several others who became seriously ill because of one person’s negligent and selfish behavior.”
A local public health department disease investigation team used contact tracing to discover a half-dozen laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases among the guests, “and many more ill individuals,” according to city officials.
“This is an example of how good contact tracing can identify disease clusters and tell us more about the spread of disease in our community,” Dr. Matthew Feaster, a Pasadena Public Health Department epidemiologist, said in a statement.
“We’re grateful to our large team of public health nurses, case investigators, and contact tracers who help track the virus and prevent the disease from spreading to other members of our community.”
Officials are advising those 65 and older, or those with underlying health conditions, to stay home — even as some recreation areas in the city are beginning to reopen and select retail businesses are resuming curbside pickup services.
“Although we are moving forward with small modifications to the Safer at Home Order, gatherings of people who do not live in the same household are still prohibited,” Dr. Ying-Ying Goh, director and health officer for the public health department, said in the statement.
