Grisly video shows New Mexico cop’s shooting death during traffic stop
Newly released footage shows the chilling moment a New Mexico cop is gunned down during a traffic stop in New Mexico.
The video from the dashcam of Police Officer Darrian Jarrott’s squad car shows the state cop approaching a Chevy pickup truck on Interstate-10 on Feb. 4 and questioning the driver, who was pulled over for having overly dark tinted windows.
During a peaceful exchange that lasts several minutes, the driver identifies himself as Omar Felix Cueva and admits he has a firearm in the vehicle, according to news reports.
“You mind if I take it off you for my safety?” Jarrott is heard asking Cueva, according to footage published by Fox News.
Jarrott, who was standing on the passenger’s side of the truck, then asks Cueva to follow him back to his squad car so he can run his name — when things turn deadly.
Cueva steps out of the pickup holding an AR-15-style rifle and opens fire.
“Oh s–t!” the cop is heard yelling before he falls to the ground.
Cueva, 39, sped off, leaving Jarrott on the side of the road, and led New Mexico cops on a 40-mile high-speed chase — before he was killed in a shootout with police.
State police said Cuvea had “a violent criminal history,” and was en route to a drug deal when he was pulled over by Jarrott, a five-year veteran of the force, KVIA-TV said.
“Even when there was a situation that was tough, the guy was always smiling,” New Mexico State Police Chief Robert Thornton said of Jarrott after his death.
Another state cop was wounded and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Army officer held at gunpoint, pepper-sprayed by Virginia cops
A US Army officer who was held at gunpoint and pepper-sprayed following a Virginia traffic stop has now filed suit against two police officers alleging racial profiling, according to reports.
Lt. Caron Nazario, a member of the US Army Medical Corps, was wearing his military fatigues when he was pulled over on December 5 in Windsor reportedly for driving his new Chevy Tahoe without license plates.
A temporary paper license plate was taped to the rear window.
Bodycam video shows that officers pulled their weapons and ordered him to get out of the vehicle.
The incident soon escalated when Nazario, described as Black and Latino, refused to comply, saying he was afraid to get out of the vehicle.
“Yeah you should be,” one of the officers said in response. Nazario was pepper-sprayed, removed from the SUV and handcuffed while laying the ground.
“This is f–ked up,” Nazario can be heard saying in the video. He also reportedly captured video of the incident on his own cell phone.
Nazario filed a lawsuit against officers Joe Gutierrez and Daniel Crocker on April 2, alleging his rights under the First and Fourth Amendments were violated.
“He’s a sworn member of the United States Army. He swears an oath to support to defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic — and the way these officers behaved, this implicates the oath that he takes,” said Jonathan Arthur, an attorney for Nazario, according to Vice.com.
Arthur added that he hopes the lawsuit sends a message to law enforcement officers “that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.”

New York parent seeks OK to marry their own adult child
I take my child to be my lawfully wedded spouse …
A New Yorker who wants to marry their own adult offspring is suing to overturn laws barring the incestuous practice, calling it a matter of “individual autonomy.”
The pining parent seeks to remain anonymous because their request is “an action that a large segment of society views as morally, socially and biologically repugnant,” according to court papers.
“Through the enduring bond of marriage, two persons, whatever relationship they might otherwise have with one another, can find a greater level of expression, intimacy and spirituality,” the parent argues in the Manhattan Federal Court claim filed April 1.
Legal papers give only the barest picture of the would-be newlyweds, failing to identify their gender, ages, hometowns or the nature of their relationship.
“The proposed spouses are adults,” the filing says. “The proposed spouses are biological parent and child. The proposed spouses are unable to procreate together.”
Incest is a third-degree felony under New York law, punishable by up to four years behind bars, and incestuous marriages are considered void with the spouses facing a fine and up to six months in jail.
Marriage licenses in the five boroughs require potential spouses to list their birth parents and attest there are “no legal impediments to the marriage,” according to the city Clerk’s office.
In 2014 a state appeals court unanimously approved of a case involving a woman married to her mother’s half-brother, noting the genetic relationship was the equivalent of first cousins. But even that ruling cited “the almost universal horror” with which a parent-child marriage is viewed.
The parent in the new case who who hears wedding bells when looking at their own kid said they want to propose, but would “sustain emotional harm” if they did so while the current laws are in effect.
The parent wants to walk down the aisle in New York City, and is asking a judge to declare the laws unconstitutional and unenforceable in their case, which the lawsuit dubs “PAACNP” for “Parent and Adult Child Non-Procreationable” couples.
“Parent-and-adult-child couples for whom procreation is either virtually or literally impossible can aspire to the transcendent purposes of marriage and seek fulfillment in its highest meaning,” the forebear argues, claiming it would “diminish their humanity” if they were unable to tie the knot with the kid they conceived.
There are known cases of parents who are separated from their children in infancy, only to reunite decades later and become romantic, said NYU Law Professor Sylvia Law.
“I don’t think there’s a big popular movement, but I do think as long as we’ve kept records, there have been cases,” she told The Post, adding “It’s an area where I think most people would say the government has a right to make the rules, even if they don’t apply to every situation.”
Manhattan family and matrimonial law attorney Eric Wrubel said, “It’s never gonna fly.
“The closest you can come is Woody Allen, and that wasn’t his daughter, it was an adopted child whom he never adopted and it still turns people’s stomachs,” he said.
He also noted the pair in this recent case hasn’t actually sought a marriage license yet, and since they’ve not been denied any rights so far, the litigation is “premature.”
A lawyer for the amorous parent did not return repeated messages for comment. The city Law Department said it was not yet aware of the litigation.

Black family whose ancestors were robbed of LA beach resort may get land back
A black family whose ancestors were robbed of the beach resort they owned in Manhattan Beach almost 100 years ago may finally get the land back.
A new bill, if passed, will permit Los Angeles County officials to transfer the site, which is currently run as a lifeguard center, to the descendants of Charles and Willa Bruce — who lost their land and business when the city seized it in 1924, the Los Angeles Times reported.
State legislation is needed because of restrictions placed on the property when the state transferred the two parcels to L.A. County in 1995.
“We stand here today to introduce a bill that will correct this gross injustice and allow the land to be returned to the Bruce family,” state Sen. Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) said Friday when formally introducing the bill. “It is my hope that this legislation will not be the last in a series of actions by the state to address centuries of atrocious actions against black Americans.”
Bruce family representative Duane Shepard Sr. thanked those who fought to get his family’s land back Friday while slamming Manhattan Beach city officials for refusing to formally apologize for the historic wrong.
“We reserve our rights on this Earth to be men, to be women, to be human beings, to be given the rights of human beings, to be given the respect of human beings, in this country in this day and in this society in this damn city,” Shepard said.
The Bruce family saga began in 1912, when Willa Bruce bought the first of two lots along the Strand between 26th and 27th streets for $1,225. Her husband, Charles, worked as a dining-car chef on trains. Willa turned the site into a thriving resort for black families who, because of racism, could not enjoy other beach areas along the coast.
The place became known as “Bruce’s Beach” and other black families moved to the area and built their own summer cottages.
The Bruces and their guests endured threats and harassment from the Ku Klux Klan, among others, for years. Then, in 1924, the city condemned the area, seizing more than 20 properties through eminent domain.
Officials justified the move by claiming there was an urgent need for a public park. But the land stood empty for decades and was not turned into a park until years later, the LA Times said.
LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who initiated the crusade to return the land, said the county is negotiating with the Bruce family about what’s next. If the bill passes as expected, the county will likely lease the land from the family.
“I believe that the best part about this is that we will be allowed to transfer the property back to the descendants of the family and let them decide what they want to do,” she said. “The Bruce family had their California dream stolen from them.”

Prince’s previously unreleased ‘Welcome 2 America’ album is dropping in July
(CNN) — Five years after Prince’s death, a new album of his previously unreleased music is coming out.
The Prince Estate and Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, announced Thursday the forthcoming release of the 2010 Prince album, “Welcome 2 America.”
It is described as “a powerful creative statement that documents Prince’s concerns, hopes, and visions for a shifting society, presciently foreshadowing an era of political division, disinformation, and a renewed fight for racial justice.”
The title track, “Welcome 2 America,” is streaming now on several platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
“Throughout the powerful song, Prince delivers a searing, spoken-word soliloquy set to music about golden parachutes, the superficial nature of social media, reality TV-fueled celebrity culture, and corporate monopolies in the music industry, ultimately concluding that America is the ‘Land of the free / home of the slave,'” according to a news release.
The iconic artist died in April 2016 after accidentally overdosing on the opioid fentanyl.
Shortly after he completed the 2010 “Welcome 2 America” album, Prince embarked on a tour of the same name that included multiple performances in several US cities.
He capped it off with the “21 Nite Stand” at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
The deluxe edition of “Welcome 2 America” will include the complete studio vault album on both CD and black vinyl (accompanied with a high-resolution digital download) plus a never-before-released full concert video of Prince’s April 28, 2011 show at The Forum.
“60 Minutes” correspondent Jon Wertheim got a preview of the album as well as the story behind its making which will be airing this Sunday on CBS.
“Welcome 2 America” drops July 30.

Postal worker in Michigan brutally beaten by two women, video shows
A postal worker in Michigan was viciously attacked by two enraged women — as an onlooker accused them of trying to steal stimulus checks in the mail carrier’s van, video shows.
But the law enforcement branch of the US Postal Service says there’s “no indication” Thursday’s attack at River Village Apartments in Flint was related to so-called economic impact payments.
The wild footage shows two women repeatedly hitting and punching a USPS worker while she is on the ground.
The female worker tries to fight back as her hair is violently yanked — while one of the women accuses the mail carrier of striking her first, the clip shows.
“You hit me first!” the woman screeches. “You hit me first!”
The bystander recording the footage, which went viral on social media, can then be heard claiming the two women were after the postal worker’s stimulus checks in her dented van.
“Bro, y’all hit the mailman!” the man says. “They tryin’ to get that stimulus … this s–t is serious!”
Another onlooker is also heard saying “y’all going to jail,” according to the chaotic clip.
One woman has since been arrested in the attack, Flint police told The Post Friday. However, Detective Sgt. Tyrone Booth declined to identify the suspect until she was arraigned.
Booth also declined to say what motivated the alleged assault, including whether stimulus checks had anything to do with the incident.
“We are investigating an assault incident that involved a United States postal worker,” Booth said. “An arrest was made and we’re seeking additional warrants for an additional arrest.”
Detectives are reviewing the footage as part of the ongoing investigation, Booth said.
“We heard the same thing you saw in the video,” he said.
The unidentified women sped off in an SUV after the alleged assault.
“They done hit this mail lady’s car and hopped out,” the man who filmed the attack says as the clip ended.
In a statement to The Post Friday, the United States Postal Inspection Service said the “safety and well-being” of all USPS employees was a top priority while adding no evidence shows the caught-on-camera attack was somehow tied to stimulus checks.
“Postal Inspectors are aware of the incident involving a Postal Service employee,” the statement said. “There is no indication this incident was related to the disbursement of the Economic Impact Payments. The investigation is ongoing.”
Flint police said in a statement Friday afternoon they were working with the federal agency in its investigation. Arrest warrants for two suspects in the video will be handed over to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office Friday, police said.
The postal worker, meanwhile, has recovered, police said.
“She is fine,” Booth said Friday.

Woman finds out she has two vaginas while giving birth
For 25 years, Brittany Jacobs had no idea she had two vaginas — until she went into labor.
“Oh honey, you have two vaginas, two cervixes and two uteruses,” a nurse finally told her while Jacobs was in the process of giving birth to her first child, the now-26-year-old recounted in a viral TikTok video which has racked up over 2.7 million views.
While Jacobs didn’t realize she had double anatomy, she had noticed that something was off in her nether regions, where she’d first observed as a young girl that she had two openings. “I always believed it was my hymen, and as I got older, I thought it was just really tough and maybe would break one day,” she told BuzzFeed.
She also had another sign that her body was unique. Despite considering herself to have a “really high pain tolerance,” she always had excruciating periods which were “so bad I would cry,” she said in the video. Jacobs posted the revelation in response to another TikTok user’s prompt clip asking, “What is something a doctor completely ignored you about when clearly there was something wrong?”
She’d bleed through tampons in mere minutes, sex hurt terribly and her menstrual cramps were debilitating — but her doctors never told her she was in any way different, so she accepted the discomfort as a part of life.
Really, though, her problems were likely all symptoms of having what is called uterus didelphys, or double uterus, which is not such a rare occurrence.
“Basically, all gynecologists who get to be old see some patients with it in their lifetime,” Yale University School of Medicine clinical professor Dr. Mary Jane Minkin told BuzzFeed. “My take-home message is you’re not a freak, you’re not weird, and by definition: If I’ve seen something a few times, it’s not rare.”
The condition can occasionally complicate reproductive ability and cause kidney problems, Dr. Minkin added. In Jacobs’ case, her labor doctors cut the septum dividing her two vaginas — “meaning now I only have one hole” — so she could give birth.

Employee kills 1 in shooting at Texas industrial park, suspect in custody
An employee opened fire at a central Texas custom cabinet company Thursday — killing one person and leaving four others in critical condition, according to local reports.
A state trooper was also shot and seriously wounded while pursuing the unidentified suspect, officials said.
The gunfire erupted at the corporate offices of Kent Moore Cabinets around 2:30 p.m. in the town of Bryan, just outside Texas A&M University, according to Houston’s ABC 13.
After a manhunt for the shooter in the area between Austin and Houston, the suspect was arrested in nearby Grimes County, police told the station.
“A DPS Trooper was shot while pursuing an individual suspected of being involved in the shooting in Bryan. He remains in serious but stable condition,” the Texas Department of Public Safety tweeted.
A sixth person was hospitalized after suffering an asthma attack, according to the article.
No motive has been released for the deadly workplace violence.
Texas Governor Greg Abbot issued a statement about the shooting, and said a police officer was injured while capturing the suspect.
“I have been working closely with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers as they assist local law enforcement on a swift response to this criminal act,” Abbot said.
“Their efforts led to the arrest of the shooting suspect. The state will assist in any way needed to help prosecute the suspect. Cecilia and I are praying for the victims and their families and for the law enforcement officer injured while apprehending the suspect.”
