JD Witherspoon and The Boondocks voice casting
With the death of John Witherspoon; many fans of The Boondocks series were wondering what they were going to do with his character. Witherspoon’s son JD Witherspoon sought out to audition for his late fathers role. Though through his own words, he will unfortunately not be voicing the character for number of reasons.
JD Witherspoon went through the casting audition for Robert Freeman’s voice and from what he said; at first things were going smoothly but then things started to go south. The casting director started doing very unususl
things from taking too long to respond to his emails to saying that he’s a shoe in, only to give the role to someone else.
Also according to him the casting people are planning to trying to artificially emulate John Witherspoon’s voice. This is all very unfortunate because as a huge Boondocks fan I was looking forward to this remake. I personally believe that having JD do his father’s character would’ve been the best decision they made surrounding this situation. Do I still look forward to the reboot? Now, not so much after hearing about what JD was put through. We will more than likely get news about who will do his voice in the near future. How about y’all? Are you still looking forward to the remake or has this killed your hype as well, let me know! Link to his video down below!

IT Chapter Two Review (Spoilers)
Pennywise will probably go down as one of the most famous horror movie icons of all time. Following the release of the first IT back in 2017 we now have the second and final part; IT Chapter 2 which takes place 27 years after the Loser’s first encounter with Pennywise otherwise known as IT.
Let me first say that as far as casting goes, the adult actors were spot on in maintaining the characteristics from their younger counterparts. The stand outs to me were Bill Hader as Richie, James Ransone as Eddie and Isaiah Mustafah as Mike. All three did fantastic performances! I also can’t forget Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise who once again does an amazing job!
The movie over all has a good balance of horror, drama and comedy. Specifically like in the dinner scene when they’re all reminiscing about their childhood only for it to turn into a nightmare when their fortune cookies release horrifying monsters. Or when each of the losers encounters Pennywise while on their solo journey to remember all of their child hood. Everything from Richies slick comments to Eddie’s fears of getting sick.
The scares were definitely interesting also as they made sure to use more than just Pennywise for scares such as Mrs. Kersh for Beverage or the leper for Eddie. They cranked up the jump scares as well in several scenes but it never feels like a cheap scare tactic.
Just like with the book there are several key sad moments as well such as in the beginning with Stan ultimately commits suicide rather than to face IT again or with the death of Eddie when he dies in the final confrontation with IT. These two along with Stan’s final letter to his friends will definitely make you shed a tear.
All in all this feels like a solid conclusion to me. My only gripe is that there was no resolution with Bills wife and Beverly’s husband. But other than that I absolutely loved this movie; a solid 9 out of 10!
The Lion King Movie Review
After months of advertisements and trailers, the live action adaptation of the Lion King is finally here! What do I have to say about it? Well I got one enjoyed it, and here’s why!
Let me just start off by saying that no it’s obviously not better than the original, however the movie itself is still great. Seeing the opening in live action was absolutely breathtaking. Yes; all the scenery in the movie is gorgeous. Pride rock looked spot on, the lions looked amazing, they definitely went all out af far as visual effects.
Now let’s get onto the voice acting. The voice acting to me was mostly good, MOSTLY. There were some line to me that did fall a little flat. James Earl Jones as always is still great as Mufasa, Donald Glover killed it as Simba, Scar was great. and Beyoncé wasn’t too cringy as Nala. The stand outs were Timon and Pumba since they got mostly new dialogue.
All in all when not comparing it to the original it’s a really great film. I for one plan on seeing it again, Lion King was a big part of my childhood and I still consider it a big part of my life today. On a scale of 1-10 I give it an 8! If you haven’t seen Lion King; go see it this weekend!
