Disney heiress Abigail Disney says she was ‘livid’ about worker conditions at theme park after going undercover
Walt Disney Co. heiress Abigail Disney Opens a New Window. said “The Happiest Place on Earth” isn’t bringing joy to theme park employees.
Disney revealed to Yahoo! News’ “Through Her Eyes” Opens a New Window. that she recently went undercover to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and was left “livid” after seeing the conditions employees endured. The heiress said she decided to conduct her own investigation after a distressed worker contacted her on Facebook.
“Every single one of these people I talked to were saying, ‘I don’t know how I can maintain this face of joy and warmth when I have to go home and forage for food in other people’s garbage,’” she told Yahoo! News in an interview published Monday.
“I was so livid when I came out of there because, you know, my grandfather taught me to revere these people that take your tickets, that pour your soda,” Disney added. “Those people are much of the recipe for success.”
Disney, who does not have an active role in the company, then directed her criticism toward Bob Iger, saying the Disney CEO isn’t doing enough to help the company’s employees.
“Bob needs to understand he’s an employee, just the same as the people scrubbing gum off the sidewalk are employees,” the heiress said. “And they’re entitled to all the same dignity and human rights that he is.”
Disney’s comments came the same day Bloomberg Opens a New Window. reported the theme park was tracking guests through its smartphone apps and electronic wristband MagicBand. Theme park officials can then see which rides attendees prefer and what TV and film merchandise is flying off the shelves.
In April, Disney made headlines when she wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post slamming Iger for his $65.6 million salary. The CEO earned 1,424 times more than the median Disney employee last year, according to a study by Equilar. The company has faced criticism in recent years over its pay policies at Disneyland and other theme parks.
“The system is the problem, and the people inside of the system who are perfectly comfortable with the system are the problem,” the philanthropist and filmmaker said in Monday’s interview. “I don’t think any president of the United States has as much power as some CEOs in this country.”
A Disney spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News on Monday that the company, under Iger’s leadership, has made an initial commitment of $150 million to fund its Disney Aspire initiative for the first five years. The program, which Disney plans to continue investing in in the future, is aimed at providing employees the opportunity to pursue higher education.
“Disney is at the forefront of providing workforce education, which is widely recognized as the best way to create economic opportunity for employees and empower upward mobility,” the statement read. “Our Disney Aspire initiative is the most comprehensive employee education program in the country, covering 100 percent of all tuition costs, books and fees so our hourly workers can pursue higher education free of charge, and graduate free of debt.”
“Disney also provides flexible schedules and subsidized childcare to make it easier for employees to take advantage of this opportunity–and we’re proud that more than 40 percent of our 88,000-plus hourly employees have already signed up to participate,” the spokesperson added. “American workers need meaningful change; they deserve smart policies and practical programs, like Disney Aspire, that empower them to achieve their goals and ensure they are part of the most competitive workforce in the world.”
Abigail Disney joined more than a dozen billionaires last month urging lawmakers to raise their taxes Opens a New Window. . The billionaires penned a letter addressed to 2020 presidential candidates asking them to support “a moderate wealth tax” on billionaires to fund projects addressing issues such as clean energy, infrastructure and healthcare.
Disney said she signed the letter because she has “more than enough” money.
“And if you’ve got $1 billion, there’s not a thing on this earth you can’t afford,” Disney said.

Lauren London Says Son Will Inherit $1 Million from Nipsey Hussle Estate
Lauren London expects the son she shared with Nipsey Hussle to inherit a ton of cash from the late rapper’s estate, so she’s making sure he’s legally protected.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, London filed to establish guardianship of her 2-year-old son, Kross Asghedom.
London writes that Kross is “anticipated to inherit approximately One Million Dollars at the close of” Nipsey Hussle’s estate.
The actress writes that she is the person taking care of the minor child, and will look out for his “best interests” as he receives the lucrative inheritance from his deceased father.
She wants to be Kross’ guardian so that she can participate in legal matters involving Nipsey’s estate and probate, on the child’s behalf.
London also lists Nipsey’s 10-year-old daughter, Emani, as Kross’ relative.
As we reported, other members of Nipsey’s family have come forward with intentions of managing his estate, including his brother, Blacc Sam.
During his filing, Sam wrote that he intended to become the administrator of his brother’s estate and that he would help shepherd some of the lucrative deals that were in the work when the hip-hop star was gunned down in South L.A.
Tanisha Foster is also battling Nipsey’s family for guardianship of her daughter, Emani. Along with Tanisha, Nipsey’s sister, brother and mother have all filed documents intending to gain custodial rights for the young girl.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Nipsey’s immediate family members claim they have been a “constant and strong presence in Emani’s life. They have participated in her care and upbringing since her birth. Since the unfortunate murder of Emani’s father in March 2019, Samiel and Angelique have assisted in providing care for Emani.”

Jamie Foxx Thanks Chris Brown For Showing Love To His Sister With Down Syndrome
Chris Brown shared a special moment with Jamie Foxx’s younger sister, who has Down Syndrome while celebrating his latest number one album Indigo.
Foxx’s sister, 33-year-old DeOndra Dixon, was seen in a video posted to his Instagram Tuesday morning telling Chris Breezy “I love you.” Brown then leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. It looks as though Foxx, Chris Brown, and DeOndra were all in a studio session listening to Chris’s new project.
“Congratulations @chrisbrownofficial on your number 1 album INDIGO… #indigoseason,” the caption read on Jamie’s Instagram. “… you are beyond talented… and I salute uu… and thank u for the beautiful moments you share with my sister @deondradixon You lift her so high that the tears well up in her heart and mine… thank u #love #music when @chrisbrownofficial says “I love u” and @deondradixon says “I love uu back”…[cloud] 9.
Back in August, the comedian/actor/singer opened up about his sister’s condition in an interview with Dateline NBC. He said that DeOndra taught him how to live, and that helps to keep him grounded. DeOndra lives with the 50-year-old icon in LA.
This isn’t the first time the Grammy and Oscar winner was seen with Chris Brown. In June Chris posted a photo of the two superstars together with the caption “ME AND BIG BRO COOKING,” leaving fans to guess that Jamie Foxx would make an appearance on Indigo. However as it turns out, Jamie Foxx did not have a feature on the album.
The two R&B singers have previously collaborated in the past. Chris Brown was featured on Jamie Foxx’s single “You Changed Me” in 2015 and Jamie hopping on “Text Message,” a single that Chris dropped in 2017.
And with this recent showing off how close Chris is with Jamie’s family, it’s clear the two have a special bond.

So-called ‘ICE bae,’ a Latina border patrol officer, is taking social media by storm
A female Border Patrol officer has gone viral — with social media users dubbing the woman #IceBae — on account of her dolled-up appearance.
“Holy s–t…I think I’m coming down with a case of undocumentation,” wrote @VibeHi on Twitter, who was one of countless users to share the BPD agent’s photo on Monday, along with a video she posted.
“#IceBae could detain me for however long she wants,” another said.
The female officer was providing security for Vice President Mike Pence during his recent border visit when she was photographed standing outside of a holding cell.
A Twitter account purportedly belonging to the woman surfaced early Monday and identified her as Kiara Cervantes, of Texas. A video was posted later in the afternoon, claiming the page was authentic.
“Just woke up…saw that I needed to make a video so y’all could believe that it’s me,” said the woman purporting herself to be Cervantes. “It’s me — I’m a Customs officer based in Texas and yeah, I don’t know what else to say.”
The woman later posted a message, saying she was “in awe” by all the attention she was receiving — some of which has been very negative.
“This country is a mess, we are praising and trending #IceBae when she is literally a guard at a CONCENTRATION CAMP, guarding CHILDREN IN CAGES, RIPPING FAMILIES APART AT THE BORDER,” seethed one Twitter user. “You’re all sick, honestly.”
Another person said, “#IceBae is actively aiding in the internment of men, women, and children without trial or even so much as humane living conditions. She, along with every other officer going along with this is a traitor to the very ideas of justice and freedom.”
But Cervantes wasn’t paying any mind to her haters and instead focused on “the support” she’s been receiving.
“My job is so hectic at this moment but I am grateful,” she tweeted Monday night. “I love protecting my country! And I love my supporters!”
The purported BPD agent had been answering questions throughout the day from both fans and people outraged with her newfound fame.
Responding to a person who called her “litteral scum” and shamed her for being Hispanic — adding that her parents were going to “disown” her — Cervantes tweeted: “I think that’s really rude and naive of you to say. You have no idea who my parents are and no idea what goes into my job on a daily basis… before speaking on something you know nothing about…. DONT. Regardless I’m blessed and thankful for the career I have.”
Replying to a tweet from former Daily Caller editor and columnist Scott Greer — who called her a “Latina concentration camp guard” — Cervantes said: “I can’t agree with concentration camps. But… this station in particular isn’t meant to be a holding facility hence the overpopulation of aliens. We are doing our best but some people won’t ever understand. They don’t know the daily of what my job consists of.”
Upon creating her purported page, Cervantes told Twitter users that she takes “a lot of pride” in her job, which, according to her, can sometimes be “difficult.”
“Not only because I am Latina,” Cervantes explained, “but just in general the mass amount of people crossing ILLEGALLY daily and the processing can take a toll on anyone of any gender and any race.”
Some people were referring to the woman as a “latina hero.”
“Democrats hate seeing minorities that have escaped their ways of thinking,” claimed one Twitter user. “Thank You for your service.”
Cervantes responded to a request for comment on Monday night via email, but told The Post she couldn’t elaborate on her social media fame until after she “speaks to management with CBP.”
Requests for comment were not immediately returned by the US Customs and Border Protection agency.

Immigrant Families Hold Amazon to the Fire for Ties with ICE

Immigrant Families Hold Amazon to the Fire for Ties with ICE
Ahead of Prime Day, New Jersey communities condemn the corporation’s ties to Trump’s deportation machine
ELIZABETH, NJ — On the eve of the corporation’s two-day Prime Day event, hundreds of immigrant families rallied outside of Amazon’s warehouse in a show of power condemning the corporation’s ties to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Immigrant workers and families delivered a petition with more than 200,000 signatures to Amazon demanding the company cut ties with ICE.
“In a moment when the federal government is caging children in horrendous conditions, Amazon provides key technology and data infrastructure to fuel the Trump administration’s deportation machine and bolstering the work of ICE,” said Sara Cullinane, Director of Make the Road New Jersey.
Immigrant members of Make the Road New Jersey – including families who have been detained by ICE – called for Amazon to end its partnership with ICE and close any federal contracts that support the administration’s anti-immigrant agenda.
“Last year my daughters were detained by ICE. Family separation is destructive and devastating. Amazon must cut its ties with ICE immediately.” said Mario, a member of Make the Road New Jersey.
The rally also made its way across the street to the Elizabeth Detention Center, where more than 300 individuals continue to be held as they face deportation.
“New Jersey’s undocumented immigrants pay nearly $600 million in state and local taxes each year, according to the non-partisan Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. That’s $600 million more than Amazon – owned by the world’s richest man – paid in federal taxes. It’s time for the Garden State to put its values first and say no to Amazon,” said Ana Ramirez, Make the Road NJ.
The group also called out Amazon for its increasingly alarming workers’ rights violations, standing in solidarity with warehouse and tech workers across the country who continue to strike.
“As the Trump administration escalates its campaign against undocumented families in New Jersey and across the nation, it’s time for Amazon to start acting like a responsible corporate citizen. Amazon must stop providing the critical tech infrastructure that supports the Trump administration’s inhumane deportation machine. And as one of the largest and fastest growing employers in the state, Amazon must start treating its warehouse workers with the respect and dignity they deserve,” said Albert Arroyo, Co-Manager of the Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United, SEIU.
The rally paused for a moment to raise fists in solidarity with Amazon workers at a fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minnesota who plan to strike during Prime Day to protest dangerous productivity quotas and the corporations refusal to convert more temporary workers into employees. The workers, many of them Muslim immigrants from East Africa, previously have protested to call attention to their working conditions.
The rally is one of several coordinated actions taking place across the New York tri-state area this weekend, building on a collective grassroots energy working to hold the corporation accountable.
This effort sets the tone looking forward, as the FTC’s starts its investigation of Amazon. Progressive groups are prepared to mobilize around antitrust efforts against the all-too-powerful monopolies and corporations that undermine US democracy, starting with the House Antitrust Subcommittee who will hold a hearing next Tuesday, July 16 on the impact of market power of online platforms.
