Victim of Sexual Assault By Brock Turner Is Ready for People to Know Her Name
Chanel Miller has revealed herself as the victim of Stanford swimmer Brock Turner. “In newspapers, my name was ‘unconscious, intoxicated woman.’ Ten syllables and nothing more than that,” she told “60 Minutes” in an episode airing Sunday, Sept. 22. Until now, Miller was known only as “Emily Doe,” keeping her name private as a sexual assault victim. Turner was found guilty of sexual assault in 2016, but a judge sentenced him to just six months in jail, of which he only served three months.

US woman arrested with baby hidden in bag at Philippines airport
MANILA, Philippines – An American woman who attempted to carry a 6-day-old baby out of the Philippines hidden inside a sling bag has been arrested at Manila’s airport and charged with human trafficking, officials said Thursday.
They said Jennifer Erin Talbot was able to pass through the airport immigration counter on Wednesday without declaring the baby boy but was intercepted at the boarding gate by airline personnel.
Talbot, from Ohio, was unable to produce any passport, boarding pass or government permits for the baby, airport officials said.
Clad in an orange detainee shirt and in handcuffs, Talbot, 43, was presented to reporters in Manila on Thursday. She kept her head low and appeared at times to be on the verge of tears. She did not issue any statement.

Talbot had planned to board a Delta Air Lines flight to the United States with the baby, airport officials said.
“There was really an intention to hide the baby,” immigration official Grifton Medina said by telephone.
After discovering the baby, airline staff called immigration personnel, who arrested Talbot at the airport. She was later turned over to the National Bureau of Investigation and the baby was given to government welfare personnel.
The investigation bureau said Talbot presented an affidavit at the airport, allegedly from the baby’s mother, giving consent for the baby to travel to the U.S., but it had not been signed by the mother.

Officials said no government travel approval had been issued for the baby, prompting them to file human trafficking charges against her. The charges carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
U.S. Embassy officials have been notified of her arrest.
Officials are searching for the baby’s parents, who have been charged under a child protection law.

TSA bans Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge ‘thermal detonator’ Coke bottles
- TSA will not permit the stylized Coke bottles from Galaxy’s Edge on flights.
- The souvenir has been banned because its looks like a replica explosive.
- Travelers who visit the planet of Batuu are permitted to bring hand-built lightsabers and astromech droids sold at the Black Spire Outpost in carry-on and checked bags.
As Disney prepares to open its Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, TSA is cracking down on one of its most collectible items — its $5 Coke bottles.
There are more than 1,000 unique items that parkgoers can purchase at Galaxy’s Edge, and one of the most popular (and cheapest) is the bottles of Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite that have been stylized to fit in the world of Batuu. The sodas are reminiscent of thermal detonators from the Star Wars films and feature the name of each brand in Aurebesh, the fictional language of Star Wars.
Fans became enamored with these plastic bottles even before the California iteration of Galaxy’s Edge opened in May. Many have collected the bottles and brought them home from the park to display on shelves or, in some cases, turn into Christmas tree ornaments.
However, the Transportation Security Administration has banned the souvenir from flights because it looks like an explosive.
A reply Tweet from a TSA-verified Twitter account posted in early August was first spotted by The Orange County (Calif.) Register.
Fans were quick to ask if removing the cap from the bottle and transporting them separately would allow them to bring the bottles on flights or stow in their luggage. However, the TSA was quick to squash that loophole.
“Even with a normal bottle cap, this item is still considered a replica and is not allowed in carry-on or checked bags,” a tweet from the account said Tuesday. “If our officers discover a replica item during screening and believes it’s real, the item will be treated as such until advised otherwise by law enforcement.”
Representatives for Disney did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
Travelers who visit the planet of Batuu are permitted to board flights with hand-built lightsabers and astromech droids sold at the Black Spire Outpost.
The TSA’s “What Can I Bring” guide even has a sense of humor about it, saying: “Sadly the technology doesn’t currently exist to create a real lightsaber. However, you can pack a toy lightsaber in your carry-on or checked bag. May the force be with you.”
Looks like fans will have to get creative if they want to take home the unique Coke bottles. Or hit up a local post office in Orlando or Anaheim, California, before heading home.

Kim Kardashian Copies Beyonce Again
Kim Kardashian is arguably one of the most famous women in the world. When Keeping Up With the Kardashians first premiered back in 2007, Kardashian was pretty much the only relevant sister. She set the stage for the rest of her family to become famous, and a dozen years later, it seems the Kardashians are everywhere. But some think she’s taking on a new image that greatly resembles Beyoncé’s — and to fans, Kardashian’s recent Vogue Arabia cover only proves it.
Kardashian has taken a step back from modeling
When Kardashian first rose to fame, she was frequently modeling for various high-end brands. It helped her make millions of dollars before any of her siblings caught up. But in recent years, she’s taken a step back from modeling to focus on other parts of her career. She recently launched KKW Beauty, a makeup line that originally focused on contour kits. She married Kanye West in 2014, and the two have four kids together, all of whom have become another major priority for Kardashian. Her recent Vogue Arabia cover finally allowed her to step back into modeling for a bit.
Fans have accused her of copying Beyoncé’s style
Kardashian’s look has changed a lot through the years; her hair and makeup is different now than it was back in the late 2000s, and her style is much more polished. But not everyone has seen Kardashian’s style change as a positive; some think she’s started copying the looks of music icon Beyoncé. Kardashian’s recent Instagram photos have shown her face with a new makeup style — one that makes her look far different from how she once did. One Twitter user posted a side-by-side comparison of one of Kardashian’s recent selfies and one of Beyoncé’s selfies, and even we have to admit that the resemblance is uncanny.
People once again saw Beyoncé vibes in Kardashian’s recent Vogue Arabia cover
Kardashian recently published photos to social media of her photoshoot with Vogue Arabia, and though plenty of fans were thrilled to see her modeling and loved the photos, there were still quite a few comments suggesting Kardashian was doing her best to once again look like Beyoncé. “I love you as you can’t imagine, but I think this is a 100% copy paste of Beyoncé style (very formation)!!!,” one user commented. Others weren’t as nice with their accusations. “Beyoncé inspired… She’s obsessed,” another user wrote. “This is [the] style of Beyoncé,” someone else commented.
Some have said she looks completely unrecognizable
Recently, Kardashian appears to have dramatically changed the look of her face, despite always denying any plastic surgery. She has said in the past that she’s had fillers in her face as well as Botox, but she has remained adamant that she hasn’t had any reconstructive surgery done. However, fans have said that she doesn’t even look recognizable in recent photos compared to how she once did. The Kardashian-Jenners have never been shy about using Botox and fillers to enhance their looks, though some think in Kim Kardashian’s case, there was more done than she’s admitting.

Doubling down on racist comments, council candidate says she opposes interracial marriage
MARYSVILLE, Mich. – Marysville City Council candidate Jean Cramer said she doesn’t have any plans to back out of the race despite coming under fire for racist comments she made at an election forum Thursday night.
Mayor Dan Damman and other local leaders, however, have called for her withdrawal.
“I would say that I probably came to the conclusion this morning,” he said Friday. “After the initial shock of what she said really sank in and (given) the deep-seated viewpoints that she has, I don’t believe that she is fit to serve as an elected official in Marysville or anywhere else.”
Cramer, one of five residents vying for three council seats in November’s election, responded to a question at a city candidates’ forum about attracting foreign-born residents to the community with: “Keep Marysville a white community as much as possible.”
After the forum, she expanded on her beliefs, particularly that people of different races shouldn’t get married.
Jean Cramer is opposed to interracial marriage
During a follow-up interview outside her Marysville home Friday afternoon, Cramer doubled down on her statements. Asked if she understood why that might upset her neighbors, she said: “If there is the biracial marriage in the family, yes.”
Mississippi: Sheriff texted racist remark, says he was ‘aggravated’ when he sent it
“Because those people don’t know the other side of it,” she said. “For whatever reason, I’ve heard, they love each other, whatever, but there’s also such a thing as remaining single. People don’t necessarily have to get married, and, if they love somebody, love them single. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Cramer, 67, has cited the Bible in backing up her ideology. Despite the widespread condemnation of her views, she said she didn’t believe she was racist.
“As far as I know, as long as we’ve been here, Marysville has been a white community, a white city,” she said. “… If we have seen a black person here and there, whatever, we’re not bothered by it. I’m not bothered by it.”
‘I know in my heart she’s in the minority’
Kevin Watkins, president of the Port Huron chapter of the NAACP, said he also thought it was appropriate for Cramer to withdrawal from Marysville’s City Council race.
But he added it was important that the initial call came from that city’s own leaders.
Watkins said the local minority community was always aware that racism exists in the area — as in other communities. He said he believed individuals like Cramer are more recently emboldened to come forward, “taking a play out of the Trump playbook.”
“The good news is now that we can see you and (hear) how you feel,” he said. “I know in my heart that she’s in the minority.”

Both Watkins and Damman said that the local controversy that has arisen from Cramer’s comments will ultimately spur a more constructive conversation for local residents.
And Damman said he wants to “ensure that everyone is heard.”
“It just tells us that as far as we have come as a society, there is still a very disappointing, close-minded, oppressive viewpoint out there,” the mayor said. “And I think we have to have the conversations that make all areas a better place for people of all races, nationalities and origins.”
NJ judge apologizes for telling woman in love triangle to sell nude photos to Playboy
Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Alberto Rivas is facing charges of violating the judicial code by making inappropriate remarks in a Family Court hearing, including advising a woman in a love triangle to divorce her husband and “take half his pension” and suggesting to the other woman in the triangle that she send nude photographs of herself to Hugh Hefner.
Rivas, who serves as Assignment Judge in the county, has apologized for the remarks.
“I regret the comments I made during the proceeding,” Rivas said in a statement. “I felt the court was being manipulated, but I let my feelings about the case influence my language, tone and demeanor, all of which were inappropriate.”
The charges by the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct against Rivas, who became a judge in 2010, arise from a Family Court case on Jan. 10 when a woman sought the return of several suggestive photographs she took of herself for her former boyfriend, which were allegedly forwarded to the boyfriend’s wife.
The woman told the judge she was afraid the wife would forward the pictures to the woman’s workplace.
In an exchange with woman, Rivas said that her testimony was not believable.
“I was born at night,” the judge said, according to a transcript. “It was not last night.”
In his answer to the complaint, Rivas said the case initially appeared to be a revenge porn or blackmail matter, but it became apparent that the woman “was attempting to perpetuate a fraud on the court.”
As the hearing progressed, Rivas said in the answer to the charges, it became clear the woman’s story was “a complete fabrication” and that she had “orchestrated” the “legal charade.”
Rivas questioned the woman’s statement that she did not know where her boyfriend’s wife worked.
“Do not sit there and tell me that you’re having a relationship with a married man and that you don’t where his wife works,” the judge said, adding “I’ve been doing this for a number of years. Better people have attempted to lie to me. You’re not that good.”
The judge characterized the woman’s comments as “baloney” and added he should not be wasting “judicial resources on this kind of malarkey.”
The woman said she no longer wanted to have contact with her boyfriend, but declined to file for a final restraining order, which Rivas said he would be “happy to grant.”
Rivas said the boyfriend, who he called a “knucklehead,” “needs to be brought down a notch.”
The judge then talked to the wife and asked why she was still married to the man, who is a corrections officer.
“I would suggest divorce and take half his pension,” Rivas said. The couple had been married for about 11 years and had a 10-year-old daughter.
The judge then addressed the man, who was present in court but not part of the proceedings between the woman and his wife.
“I wish you were up here,” Rivas said, “because I am gunning for you, because you are despicable.”
After the wife agreed to turn over the photographs within 24 hours, the judge told the wife, “Your problem is with that knucklehead. But, it’s clear that you folks have been involved in a triangle, and kind of like the Bermuda Triangle, it’s deadly.”
Rivas told the women they have let themselves “get played by this guy. Who I’m not going to call him a man because he does not deserve that title. This homo sapien.”
At the end of the court proceeding, Rivas said he was giving “advice” to the woman who took the pictures of herself.
“The only person you should be sending naked pictures to are (sic) to Hugh Hefner,” Rivas said. “He will pay you $100,000 for the use of them.”
Hefner, who died in September 2017, was founder of Playboy magazine.
In his answer to the complaint, Rivas admitted his remarks were “inappropriate” and “let his feelings about what the (woman) had done, by placing (the wife) in such a humiliating position, influence (his) language, tone and demeanor.”
Rivas said his comments “were not motivated by bias or prejudice” and “intemperate and not judicial in word or tone.”
Rivas, who received his undergraduate degree from Princeton and his law degree from Rutgers, waived a formal hearing before the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct.

Mom accuses renowned boys choir of gender bias after daughter was rejected
A mother in Berlin is helping her 9-year-old daughter sue a historically renowned all-boys choir for gender bias.
The girl, whose identity is concealed to protect her privacy, has attempted to join the State and Cathedral Choir in Germany multiple times and has been continuously rejected, the Associated Press reported. The choir said that it didn’t deny the girl entry based on her gender, but because she lacked the talent and motivation needed to succeed.
The choir also noted that she may have been asked to join “if her voice had matched the desired sound characteristics of a boys choir,” Berlin administrative court said.
The mother insists that the choir’s decision was discriminatory and infringes on equal opportunity rights. In its 554 years of operation, the choir has not admitted a single girl.
The 9-year-old was rejected from the choir in 2016 and 2018 without being given an audition, according to the girl’s attorney Susann Braecklein. In December, she was told “a girl will never sing in a boys choir,” in a letter sent by the dean of the music faculty at the University of the Arts.
The girl was invited for an audition in March, but was rejected again.
The case has received a lot of attention with some siding with the girl and her mother and others arguing that letting a girl sing breaks from history and tradition. Some say that there’s a distinct difference between boys’ and girls’ voices.
Ann-Christine Mecke, a musicologist, told ZDF television that although there are variations between the voices of girls and boys, it’s pretty insignificant.
