Rev Run Surprised Daughter Angela Simmons Isn’t Dating: “Is It Really That Crazy?”
Getting back into the dating game is difficult enough after a breakup. However, if you’re ex-fiancé-father of your child was also murdered, finding love once again may prove to be a near-impossible feat. Angela Simmons has been squarely focused on single motherhood since her ex, Sutton Tennyson, was gunned down in front of his home back in November 2018, but her father wants to know when she’ll take another shot at love.
She’s been rumored to have been romantically tied to Bow Wow and Romeo Miller, but Angela is flying solo and shared that it’s been a struggle finding a man. “I’m in an industry that’s very like, small, kind of,” Angela told her dad on Growing Up Hip Hop. After agreeing with her, Angela continued, “Your options are limited and I’m always working. Where am I going to meet anyone?” The scene cut to the green-screen interview where Angela added that being the child of a preacher comes with expectations to look and act a certain way. “There’s a certain way to walk with Christ but like, my way is not always your way.”
Rev Run suggested to Angela that she could go on a dating app, but she said she already tried it. The app she used was specifically for industry professionals and invite-only. Still, she couldn’t find anyone worthy of her attention. “Is it really that crazy?” Run asked. “I think the world has changed. Back when I was in, well, 10th, 11th, 12th grade, it was never a pretty girl that would think about, ‘I have to go find a guy.’“
“A girl like that would never be on an app, so I just don’t know what happened between when I was young—” Run continued before Angela interrupted and said, “Instagram!” She tried explaining why DMs are the downfall of dating, but Run didn’t understand. “That should fix it,” he said. “Someone should be able to get in your DMs.”
Angela complained that “serial dating” is also a problem because people date more than one person at a time without commitment. “I’ve got [my son] on my mind and anyone who comes around me has to be triple amazing for him,” Angela said. “He’s impressionable.” Check out the clip below.

Oprah says Russell Simmons ‘attempted to pressure’ her out of producing sex assault documentary
Russell Simmons tried to force Oprah Winfrey out of working on the documentary about his sexual assault allegations but it wasn’t his efforts that caused her to ditch the project, the television icon has revealed.
Winfrey announced last week she was stepping away from the “On the Record” project as its executive producer, nearly one month after receiving backlash from Simmons. She also shared that it will no longer air on Apple TV+.
Now, in a new statement to Fox News, Winfrey revealed what exactly was going on behind the scenes and detailed Simmons’ attempts to stop her involvement.
“He did reach out multiple times and attempted to pressure me,” Winfrey told Fox News through a spokesperson on Saturday.
The spokesperson added that Winfrey’s decision to separate herself from the documentary was not due to Simmons’ incessant attempts. Instead, Winfrey found inconsistencies in the reporting for the “On the Record” documentary, specifically with the story coming from one of the music producer’s accusers, Drew Dixon.
Despite her exit, Winfrey’s spokesperson confirmed the media mogul believes Dixon as well as the other women who come forward in the film.
“First and foremost, she believes all of the women,” the spokesperson told Fox News.
The spokesperson added that Winfrey felt the film did not need to be rushed to the Sundance Film Festival, scheduled to premiere on Jan. 25.
Winfrey announced her decision to step down as the documentary’s executive producer in a statement to Fox News last week.
“I have decided that I will no longer be executive producer on the untitled Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering documentary and it will not air on Apple TV+,” Winfrey shared in a statement. “First and foremost, I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard. In my opinion, there is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision.
“Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering are talented filmmakers. I have great respect for their mission but given the filmmakers’ desire to premiere the film at the Sundance Film Festival before I believe it is complete, I feel it’s best to step aside. I will be working with Time’s Up to support the victims and those impacted by abuse and sexual harassment.”
Dixon is one of the multiple women who made sexual assault allegations against Simmons, 62. The famed record executive was accused of rape by at least three women in 2017 and adamantly denied the allegations.
Simmons penned his own message to Winfrey last month maintaining his innocence, which he reposted again following the news of Oprah’s exit.
“Dearest OPRAH, you have been a shining light to my family and my community,” he wrote. “It’s so troubling that you choose to single me out in your recent documentry [sic]. I have already admitted to being a playboy (more appropriately titled today ‘womanizer’) sleeping with and putting myself in more compromising situations than almost any man I know. … So many that some could reinterpret or reimagine a different recollection of the same experiences.”
“I have taken and passed nine 3-hour lie detector tests,” he added. “These stories are UNUSABLE.”
Rapper 50 Cent also previously called out Winfrey via his social media accounts.
“I don’t understand why Oprah is going after black men,” 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, wrote on social media. “No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Micheal [sic] jackson and Russell Simmons this s–t is sad.”
In a joint statement to Fox News, Simmons’ silence-breakers and survivors said: “We are more than victims of rape. We are Black women. We are mothers, daughters, sisters and friends insisting on our right to live and work free from sexual violence and abuse. We will not back down, and we will not be silenced. We are not afraid. When we raised our anguished voices to say, ‘No! Stop! Don’t’ to Russell Simmons, he ignored us.”

Ariana Grande Hit With Copyright Suit Over ‘7 Rings’
Ariana Grande was sued on Thursday by a hip-hop artist who claims she ripped off the chorus of his song for her hit “7 Rings.”
Josh Stone, who performs as DOT, wrote and recorded “You Need I Got It” in 2017. He alleges that he took the song to music industry executives, including producer Tommy Brown, who has worked extensively with Grande.
The suit accuses Brown of lifting key elements of Stone’s song for Grande’s “7 Rings.” Grande’s song includes the repeating line: “I Want It, I Got It. I Want It, I Got It.” While Stone’s song has the refrain: “You Need It, I Got It. You Want It, I Got It.”
The suit, filed in New York federal court by attorney Tamir Young, alleges that two forensic musicologists have analyzed the choruses of each song and found the rhythm and notes to be substantially similar as well.
“Literally, every single one of the 39 respective notes of ‘7 Rings’ is identical with the 39 notes of ‘I Got It’ from a metrical placement perspective,” the suit alleges. “Said another way, the rhythm and placement of the notes and lyrics are identical.”
According to the suit, “7 Rings” has already netted more than $10 million in revenue. Grande is set to perform at the Grammy Awards next week, and is up for five awards, including two for “7 Rings.”
The suit names Universal Music Corp. along with many other defendants.
Grande’s label did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
Music copyright suits have become a hot-button issue in the industry since the 2015 “Blurred Lines” verdict. Last year, a jury found that Katy Perry had stolen a riff from Flame, a little-known Christian rapper.
Case 1:20-cv-00441 Document 1 Filed 01/16/20 Page 1 of 17 UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK _____________________________________________ Josh Stone, COMPLAINT Plaintiff, -against- File No. 20-cv-441 Ariana Grande, Thomas Lee Brown, Taylor Monet Parks, Kimberly Anne Krysiuk, Victoria Monet McCants, Charles Michael Anderson, Michael David Foster, Njomza Vitia, BMG Rights Management US LLC, Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp., Kobalt Songs Music Publishing, The Royalty Network Inc., Universal Music Corporation, Concord Music Group, Inc. Demand for Jury Trial Defendants. _____________________________________________ Plaintiff, by and through his attorneys, STUDIN YOUNG PC, alleges as follows: PRELIMINARY STATEMENT 1. Ariana Grande is a world-famous singer/songwriter. Her recent hit song “7 RINGS,” released on January 18, 2019, is a worldwide juggernaut that reached #1 on weekly song charts in 23 countries during 2019, and 7 RINGS was recently nominated for multiple Grammy Awards including “Record of the Year.” 2. By all accounts, 7 RINGS is a huge commercial success and has generated (and continues to generate) millions of dollars. Indeed, 7 RINGS broke records for the most streams in 24 hours on Spotify and its official video has been viewed over 642 million times just on YouTube alone. 3. And by every method of analysis, 7 RINGS is a forgery – plagiarized from Plaintiff Josh Stone who wrote, recorded and published the nearly identical original work “You Need It, I Got It” (hereafter, “I GOT IT”) approximately two years earlier.

Trump warns Iranian supreme leader who called him a ‘clown’ to be ‘very careful with his words’
President Donald Trump fired back Friday evening at Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who earlier had mocked him as a “clown” – then in a subsequent tweet Trump said Iran’s leaders “should abandon terror and Make Iran Great Again!”
“The so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ of Iran, who has not been so Supreme lately, had some nasty things to say about the United States and Europe,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Their economy is crashing, and their people are suffering. He should be very careful with his words!”
Trump tweeted hours after Khamenei called him a “clown” who will “push a poisonous dagger” into Iran’s back.
In a rare public address as he led Friday prayers in Tehran, Khamenei also defended Iran’s military after it mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane.
Khamenei also condemned Trump and the U.S. for the deadly drone strike against a top Iranian general.
“The villainous U.S. government repeatedly says that they are standing by the Iranian people. They lie,” Khamenei said. “If you are standing with the Iranian people, it is only to stab them in the heart with their venomous daggers.”
In another post Friday evening, Trump later tweeted a message to Iranian citizens, including a riff on his 2016 campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
“The noble people of Iran—who love America—deserve a government that’s more interested in helping them achieve their dreams than killing them for demanding respect,” he said. “Instead of leading Iran toward ruin, its leaders should abandon terror and Make Iran Great Again!”
Trump also tweeted out that message in Farsi.

Rihanna and Boyfriend Hassan Jameel Split After 3 Years Together
Alexa, play “Man Down” by Rihanna.
After three years together, it seems that the 31-year-old singer and fashion designer has called it quits with her boyfriend, businessman Hassan Jameel. A source confirmed to E! News on Friday that the low-key pair were going their separate ways.
The couple’s relationship first made headline after a picture of the two getting hot and heavy in Spain began making rounds on social media back in 2017.
Since then, Rihanna has kept her romance with Jameel private but only recently began to open up more about her relationship and how she felt about her beau. The “Love on the Brain” singer got candid about marriage, kids and falling in love with her former boyfriend in June 2019.
In a conversation with Ocean’s 8 co-star Sarah Paulson in Interview magazine, Rihanna shared more details about her personal life and how she prioritized her relationship amid her busy work schedule.
“It’s only the last couple years that I started to realize that you need to make time for yourself, because your mental health depends on it,” Rihanna told Paulson at the time. “If you’re not happy, you’re not going to be happy even doing things that you love doing. It’d feel like a chore. I never want work to feel like a chore. My career is my purpose, and it should never feel like anything other than a happy place.”
She added, “I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me. It was like, ‘I need to make time for this.’ Just like I nurture my businesses, I need to nurture this as well. I’ll shut things down for two days, three days at a time. On my calendar we now have the infamous ‘P,’ which means personal days. This is a new thing.”
In August of last year, Rihanna’s mother and one of her brothers stepped out with the happy couple for dinner at a restaurant in Santa Monica, Calif., proving that things were seemingly getting serious with the two.
Previously, the couple had been spotted celebrating the Fenty Beauty founder’s birthday at a Los Angeles Lakers game in Los Angeles. In 2018, the two were also seen attending a Grammys after-party at 1Oak in New York.
In 2017, the year their romance was made public, the two spent some time together in London.

Martha Stewart Slams “Irritating” Gwyneth Paltrow Goop Products
Lieberman/FilmMagic
Gwyneth Paltrow released a candle that smells like her vagina, and Martha Stewarthas some thoughts.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Stewart was asked by a caller to comment on Goop‘s new candle scent, “This Smells Like My Vagina” (which, somehow unsurprisingly, has already sold out). Given that Stewart basically written the book on running a successful, longterm lifestyle brand, it’s a fitting question. And to no one’s surprise, she’s not impressed by the candle.
“I’m sure it sold out,” Stewart said to Andy Cohen of the $75 product. “She does that kind of irritatingly—she’s trying to zhuzh up the public to listen to her and that’s great. Let her do her thing.”
Sure, she said live and let live in response to the interesting scent, but would she burn it in her own home? As she hilariously admitted, “I wouldn’t buy that candle.”
Chimed in Cohen, “So, to be clear, you don’t want a candle that smells like Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina?”
“Not necessarily,” Stewart teased.
As the host continued, “What does it say about America that the candle is now sold out?”
In response, Stewart said, “I think it’s not America. I think it’s a lot of guys who are horny.”
Karlie Kloss appeared on the Bravo show alongside Stewart. And she also had a hot topic issue to address in the interview.
Unable to remain mum, Cohen asked Kloss about that viral moment on Project Runway where a contestant shaded the supermodel by saying, “Not even to dinner with the Kushners?“
As the star (who is married to Joshua Kushner, Jared Kushner‘s brother) said, “Well, listen, I was honored to be one of the first memes of the decade. Honestly, the real tragedy of this whole thing is that nobody is talking about how terrible that dress was! That’s why he went home! And no, I would not wear that dress to any dinner.”
Not even if the host had a vagina-scented candle.

Little Fires Everywhere
Hulu’s adaptation of “Little Fires Everywhere” is already sparking interest. That, of course, is inevitable with a cast that includes Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. But the first trailer, which was released on Friday, has bolstered anticipation for the drama, which premieres in March.
On the show, Witherspoon and Washington team up in roles that have them exploring two different sides of life in a town set in Ohio and the common ground of motherhood.
Those familiar with the Celeste Ng book on which it is based, however, know the tale has many more layers than that, making for an intriguing ride. Witherspoon and Washington are both executive producers on the show, which was created by Liz Tigelaar. Witherspoon, who also produced HBO’s Emmy-winning “Big Little Lies,” said she’d been searching for a project to partner with Washington on for “a long time.”
The book’s complex themes demanded a partner who could both handle that material with the care it demanded and someone who could deliver a powerful on-screen performance.
“My first instinct is who’s actually gonna show up and do the work? Because this is a lot of work,” Witherspoon said. “[Washington] brings a grace to it, an intellectual aspect to it, and she deepens the conversation.
And I knew that I wanted to go on this journey with her, especially because she read it so quickly and responded so quickly to the role.”The show debuts March 18.
