Kelly Rowland Gets Giant Hand Tattoo To Show Love To Demi Lovato
The lion tattoo appears to be temporary.
Taking to her Instagram story, Kelly noted that Demi was on her mind, getting the lion piece sketched out and placed on her own hand. A touching display of love and support, Rowland and Lovato have been friends since their work together on the X Factor. Remaining close since filming, Kelly clearly has a lot of love for Lovato, proving that her heart weighs heavy after a scary hospitalization earlier in the week.
Kelly’s act is the latest in a string of celebrities wishing well for the troubled star. Drug addiction is a difficult disease to overcome but Demi has proven to be capable of pulling through in the past. We’re praying for her to get well soon.
Darryl Fulton Wrongfully Spent 23 Years Behind Bars, And Now The Bank Refused To Deposit His Restitution Check
Darryl Fulton spent over two decades behind bars for a murder he did not commit.
When he attempted to deposit the wrongful conviction check of more than $160,000 rectifying his pain and suffering, the bank refused to accept it.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Fulton tried to deposit the check twice and was denied on both attempts. However, on the second attempt, Chase Bank claimed it was a misunderstanding and a mistake on their part for not depositing the check.
“We did offer to deposit the check on his return visit and have reached out to him to clear up any confusion,” the bank said. “We regret the error and apologize for the inconvenience.”
The state of Illinois granted Fulton a $169,876 check as restitution for the 23 years he was imprisoned for the murder of Antwinica Bridgeman. Fulton and Nevest Coleman were sentenced to life in prison in 1994.
Prosecutors dropped the charges with Fulton and Coleman exonerated last year when new DNA testing found semen stains linking her death to a serial rapist, CBS Chicago reported.
“I find it particularly outrageous because he was wrongfully convicted,” Kathleen Zellner, his attorney, said. “The check is from the state of Illinois to him, and I can’t attribute any other reason except they’re discriminating against him because he’s a black male.”
The Tribune reports Zellner disputed Chase’s willingness to accept the check and said Fulton would be changing banks.
“I’m just trying to deposit my check,” Fulton said. “I just wanted to be treated like anyone else.”

Dad Of Brother And Sister Parkland Survivors Fatally Shot In Robbery
A Florida family has been devastated again by gun violence. The father of two sibling survivors of the Parkland school attack was fatally shot during a robbery at his Fort Lauderdale convenience store.
On surveillance footage, a gunman is seen taking money from the cash register on Tuesday at Aunt Mollie’s Food Store, owned by Ayub Ali, 61. Ali can be seen holding his hands in the air. The thief walked out, then returned to the store and shot Ali, Broward County sheriff’s officials said in a statement.
It wasn’t clear why the gunman returned. Ali was declared dead a short time later at a nearby hospital.
The sheriff’s office released the surveillance video on Thursday as it sought help in identifying and locating the shooter. A friend eventually persuaded suspect Tyrone Fields Jr., 19, to turn himself in on Friday, officials said.
Ali was buried the same day. Fields is being held without bail.
Ali moved to Florida from Bangladesh in the 1990s. He encouraged his daughter to travel to Washington for the “March for Our Lives” rally organized by young people in the wake of the Parkland attack to advocate for stricter gun control laws, Elama Ali told CNN.
“When I was in Washington… he watched it on TV,” she said.
Of her father’s death, she said, “We’re trying to be strong, but it’s overwhelming.”

Roseanne Barr claims she was fired by ABC because she voted for Donald Trump
SPOILER ALERT! Rosie, you were fired because no one asked for a reboot of your show and you brought negative attention to the network for your public racist antics.
Roseanne Barr announced earlier this month that, rather than risk a potentially “stressful” exchange with a member of the press, she intended on starting a YouTube channel to broadcast her views.
The 65-year-old has now delivered on that promise, releasing an “official statement” on being fired from the American sitcom Roseanne by the network ABC.
Barr claims that her racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, the former Obama adviser, was not the reason she was fired. Instead, she blames her own outspoken support of Donald Trump, adding that she initially thought Jarrett was a white woman.
“When ABC called and asked me to explain my ‘egregious and unforgivable tweet,’ I told them I thought Valerie Jarrett was white,” the actor claims.
“I also said, ‘I am willing to go on The View, Jimmy Kimmel, or whatever other show you want me to go on and explain that to my audience’.
“Now, instead what happened was, about 40 minutes after that, my show was cancelled before even one advertiser pulled out and I was labelled a racist.

School Bans Durags Because They Turn Black Boys Into Bald-Headed Gangbangers
Black males have long been perceived as thugs, hoodlums, and savages. Even black boys are seen as aggressive men from a young age (e.g. Tamir Rice). As a result, their culture, often intersected with poor (struggle) culture, has been demonized.
A Massachusetts charter school has partially reversed its ban on durags after students convinced administrators of the rule’s unfairness, successfully arguing that the head covering isn’t a gateway drug that leads to gang-banging or even worse—male pattern baldness.
According to the Daily Item, Kipp Academy Lynn Collegiate School had been issuing in-school suspensions to black male students who wear durags at the Lynn, Mass., high school. Although the dress code might seem reasonable, the charter school’s rationale for doing so raised the ire of some black students who don’t believe that durags stop information from entering their brain.
Administrators said durags were outlawed in an attempt to prevent black boys from going to jail or becoming gang members. That’s right, KIPP Lynn’s approach to preventing the unfair punishment and criminalization of black boys by the criminal justice system is to institute a rule that unfairly punishes and criminalizes black boys.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot in the works with Joss Whedon returning
The Buffyverse is about to expand.
A reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in active development, EW has confirmed. The cult classic series, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as a “Slayer” chosen by fate to battle against vampires and demons for the greater good while also trying to live a normal life as a teenager, ran for seven seasons and has built in esteem since going off the air in 2003, praised widely for its feminist themes and artistry. Buffy was preceded by a film of the same name, and has spawned various companion materials over the past decade, including the spin-off Angel.
EW has learned that informal discussions over bringing Buffy back in a new form began last fall, with Monica Owusu-Breen (Alias, Midnight Texas) tapped as the new version’s writer and Joss Whedon working closely with her, returning to his role of executive producer. The reboot is now officially in the works, with Fox 21 Television Studios producing; it will be pitched to streaming and cable outlets later this summer.
No script, director, or casting has been confirmed at this time. It remains unclear whether Whedon will take on any greater creative role in the series, given his many other commitments (HBO just ordered his drama The Nevers straight-to-series), but a representative for Fox tells EW that he is currently working with Owusu-Breen on developing the reboot script.
The new Buffy version is being described as a “contemporary” and “richly diverse” take on the original series, building on the mythology of the original and using aspects of it to comment on aspects of the current political and cultural climates. Sources say that the reboot will cast a black actress in the titular role.
Gail Berman, Joe Earley, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui (producers of the film), and Sandollar Television will produce the Buffy reboot alongside Whedon.

Trans woman says she was ‘humiliated’ after CVS pharmacist refused to fill her hormone prescription
A transgender woman said she was humiliated after a pharmacist at an Arizona CVS refused to fill her hormone prescription in April.
Hilde Hall, who detailed the incident in a blog post published on ACLU’s website on Thursday, said she was elated after she received her first prescription for hormone therapy from the doctor.
However, when she went to a CVS in her hometown of Fountain Hills, Arizona, to fill the script, she was shocked by what came next.
Hall said the pharmacist “refused to fill one of the prescriptions needed to affirm my identity,” adding that the unidentified pharmacist did not give her “a clear reason for the refusal.”
She said the pharmacist then proceeded to ask her questions in front of other customers, which she said left her “embarrassed and distressed.”
“I nearly started crying in the middle of the store,” she recalled. “I didn’t want to answer why I had been prescribed this hormone therapy combination by my doctor. I felt like the pharmacist was trying to out me as transgender in front of strangers. I just froze and worked on holding back the tears.”
After the encounter, Hall asked the pharmacist again for her prescription back but he refused once more.
“I left the store feeling mortified,” she wrote.
Hall said she called her doctor when she got home explaining the situation. The office called the CVS for Hall to get the prescription filled but again the pharmacist refused.
Eventually, Hall got her prescription filled at a local Walgreens without a problem.
“I transferred all of my prescriptions there so that I never again have to see the pharmacist who discriminated against me,” she wrote.
Hall said she contacted CVS’ corporate office many times to complain about the incident but said nothing was done. On Thursday, Hall said she decided to file a complaint to the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy saying something needed to be done.
AZ Central pointed out that Arizona “allows pharmacies and pharmacists to refuse to fill a prescription on religious or moral grounds.” However, pharmacists are required under state law to inform the company “in advance about any religious convictions.”
CVS released a statement regarding the incident.
“CVS Health extends its sincere apologies to Ms. Hall for her experience at our pharmacy in Fountain Hills, Arizona last spring. The conduct of the pharmacist, who is no longer employed by CVS, violated company policies and does not reflect our values or our commitment to inclusion, nondiscrimination and the delivery of outstanding patient care,” the statement read.
Hall declined to take legal action against CVS after she received an apology.
