A supermarket employee in Louisiana who went viral for letting a young customer with autism help him stock the store shelves has now been gifted $100,000 for college tuition.
When Jordan Taylor, who works at Rouses Market in Baton Rouge, noticed Jack Ryan watching him refill the coolers, he offered to show him what do.
In a video taken by Jack Ryan’s dad and shared on Facebook by his sister, Delaney Edwards Alwosaibi, Jack Ryan and Taylor can be seen working together to put milk and juice on the shelves.
“Talk about a stand-up young man!!!!” Alwosaibi wrote about Taylor. “We all know autism makes going out difficult, and sometimes grocery stores can be a challenge. This young man took the time to slow down and allow Jack Ryan to help for over 30 minutes, guiding him as he finished his task.”
Alwosaibi and everyone who saw the video were so impressed by what Taylor did, they decided to start a GoFundMe page Wednesday to help raise money to send him to college. Taylor told Alwosaibi he loves math and might want to be a teacher someday.
The campaign originally had a goal of $10,000, but after receiving an overwhelming amount of donations, the goal was increased to $100,000, which it had reached as of Friday afternoon.
“He could have ignored him. He could have made an excuse and said he couldn’t allow him to help. Instead, he let him have his moment and in turn gave my family a moment we will never forget,” Alwosaibi wrote.
“It might seem like nothing to others, but as you can hear my dad say in the video, [‘I’m watching a miracle in action’].”
GoFundMe spokesperson Bobby Whithorne told Fox News the fundraiser for Taylor is currently the top campaign on their site and global support has been pouring in. “Donors from Baton Rouge to Bangkok have been inspired by Jordan and Jack Ryan’s story. Nearly 3,000 people have donated $100,000 from all across the US and all around the world. Donors from Japan to Germany, from Ireland to Italy, have stepped up and taken action to show their support,” Whithorne said.
Russia Arrests Mysterious American Who Arrived On A Dinghy From Alaska
Russian authorities said they were holding an American man who arrived on its far eastern Pacific coast by dinghy, having apparently sailed all the way from Alaska.
The BBC reported that the man—named by Russia’s foreign ministry as 72-year-old John Martin, from Anchorage, Alaska—was found, exhausted, near Lavrentiya, a coastal village in the Chukotka region, having crossed the Bering Strait, which separates the U.S. from Russia.
According to a report by state-backed Russian news agency Tass, U.S. diplomats were working with Russian officials to resolve the situation. Martin’s motives were unclear; Tass said he did not ask for asylum when he was discovered on August 1.
The U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok, the major city on Russia’s Pacific coast, said it would provide assistance to the man. “We know about this situation. We are working with local authorities and are providing the U.S. citizen with consular services,” a spokesperson for the mission told another Russian news agency, Interfax.
Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the foreign ministry, claimed Martin “traveled down the Yukon River in Alaska in his personal one-seat boat.” Zakharova said the man had decided to take to the sea about two weeks ago, but “due to inclement weather and because he lacked navigation equipment, he spent several days in the open sea. This is how he ended up in the Russian Federation.”
Interfax quoted a source close to the investigation, who said the man had been fishing along the Alaskan coast and decided to sail to China. Instead, he ended up on the very eastern tip of Russia, several thousands of miles away from the Chinese coast.

Omarosa says in tell-all White House book she saw ‘mental decline’ in Trump
Omarosa Manigault-Newman, the flamboyant reality TV star and former White House official, claims in her new tell-all book that she detected a “mental decline” in President Donald Trump during her raucous 7-month tenure with the administration.
The observation emerges in an excerpt of “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” which was obtained by the Daily Mail. The book is set for release Aug. 14.
In it, she described her reaction to watching Trump’s interview with NBC’s Lester Holt in May 2017 regarding the firing of FBI director James Comey.
“Donald rambled. He spoke gibberish. He contradicted himself from one sentence to the next,” she wrote, saying she watched the interview on TV in a White House press office.
According to the Daily Mail’s excerpt, Hope Hicks, who was then White House communications director, had prepped Trump for the interview and emphasized repeatedly that he was supposed to say that he had fired Comey based on the recommendation by the Department of Justice.
Instead, he said:
“I was going to fire Comey, knowing there was no good time to do it. And, in fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election.’”
That, wrote Manigault-Newman, was a clue that something wasn’t right.
“While watching the interview I realized that something real and serious was going on in Donald’s brain,” she wrote. “His mental decline could not be denied. Many didn’t notice it as keenly as I did because I knew him way back when. They thought Trump was being Trump, off the cuff. But I knew something wasn’t right.”

Chicago Nonprofit Hosts Safe Space For Black Girls To ‘Unapologetically Exist’ At The Site Of Rekia Boyd’s Death

Chicago’s “The Visibility Project: Black Girls Takeover Douglas Park,” hosted by A Long Walk Home, a nonprofit dedicated to ending violence against girls and women, was created to be a safe space where black girls could be their full selves.
If Douglas Park sounds familiar to you, it is likely because it is the very same place Rekia Boyd was shot and killed by off-duty police officer Dante Servin in March 2012.
“Douglas Park is a place where kids are supposed to play, and people are supposed to barbecue and have fun,” 15-year-old Amaya Sam told the Chicago Tribune. “It’s not supposed to be a place where the energy is just sad. I feel like what we’re doing is taking it back.”
During the free event on Thursday, July 26, black girls got to enjoy the soft croons of Jamila Woods, double dutch, pick up treats from an ice cream truck, color coloring books and more.
“You never really see a space where black girls can unapologetically, like, exist,” said 17-year-old Aliya Young, according to Teen Vogue. “So to be able to be in a space where so many of us are able to exist — and that is powerful and radical by itself — and the fact that we’re claiming this space for Rekia [Boyd] and the missing and murdered black girls, it’s nice to not just hear all those stories and be triggered all the time, but to just celebrate our reclamation.”

Democratic Donor Accused Of Killing A Young, Gay Black Man By Injecting Him With Drugs Will Face No Charges
Recently, the WeHo Times reported the tragic death of Gemmel Moore, killed a crystal meth overdose in late July.
Moore was found at the home of Ed Buck, a wealthy, high-profile Democratic Party donor and political activist. The police report filed on the incident reported the death as an “accident.” However, Moore’s mother LaTisha Nixon wasn’t so sure that that was the case.
Nixon found out through one of Moore’s friends that Moore had engaged in sex work before his death, and that Buck was a client of both men.
“I called one of my son’s friends and was like, ‘who the hell is Edward Buck?’” Nixon said. “And my son’s friend was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s that white guy, that wealthy white politician guy … he was like, ‘Oh my God …’”
The reason for the friend’s horror was what he told Nixon next.
“[Buck] would have my son to go out to … Santa Monica Boulevard looking for young gay black guys so he could inject them with drugs, see their reaction and how [they] would react and take pictures of them,” Nixon said the friend told her.
John Bice, a friend of Moore’s, told LA Weekly a similar story.
“Basically this guy would find young struggling black guys around town, pick them up and say he was going to help them out — make sure they had clothes and food. … He wanted to see them get high, first with weed. Then one day, the guy wanted him to shoot up,” Bice said.
Nixon believes Buck was basically conducting a psycho-sexual version of the Tuskegee experiments on the young black men.
“[Buck] would supply heroin, meth and other drugs to him to smoke or use with a needle,” Nixon said. “Buck would pleasure himself at the sight of my son using drugs.”
Moore’s mother added that her son’s friends told her that Buck would reward young men for taking big hits.
“The bigger the cloud of smoke,” the more money Buck would give the men. Nixon said Buck “would excitedly encourage [Moore] to increase his dosage by saying, ‘More, more, and I’ll give you $500 more.’”
Buck himself hasn’t spoken out about these accusations, but his lawyer, Seymour Amster, has.
Amster said that Moore injected himself with the meth, that Buck was Moore’s friend and “did not witness it being injected” and that, “This was an accidental death. This was an unfortunate death … but that doesn’t mean we can make spurious accusations and spin something out of control.”
However, Moore’s journals, which were discovered after his death, tell a different story.

Tiffany Haddish Reveals She Was Raped as a Teen by a Police Cadet
In the September issue of Glamour, the 38-year-old comedian opens up about a painful and life-changing sexual assault at the hands of a police cadet. Haddish was just 17-years-old at the time, she sayss.
“That whole experience put me in such a messed-up place for a long time, and I ended up going to counseling,” Haddish told writer Niela Orr.
Haddish told Orr that she reported the incident when it happened, but nothing came of it. She added that she wasn’t sure what justice would look like in that incident.
“Me just yelling out people’s names with no thought behind it is pointless. I need a plan,” Haddish said. “I could be a voice, but what’s a voice going to do—just keep talking? Or is there action behind it?”
Since the rape, Haddish says she’s developed a brashness towards men that functions as a sort of defense. She discloses how directors and producers have come on to her (“I might get real bossy and say, ‘First off, don’t nobody want to see your little dick!’ I get loud, all that,” she says). But she also uses sexual aggression to take control.
“I notice that men are afraid of women that are aggressive. So to protect myself I become semi-aggressive,” Haddish said. “You hear about, ‘Tiffany always hitting on somebody,’ but that’s to keep them from hitting on me.”
Haddish has spoken out about rampant sexual harassment in the entertainment industry before. In an interview with People magazine last year about her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, Haddish said, “it seemed like everybody wanted to get in my panties. It was constant defending and battling. These men will try you every single time.”
“It’s like hazing,” she continued. “Once they figure out you’re strong and you don’t roll like that, then they start treating you like a colleague.”

The “Girls Trip” star, living up to her hilarious reputation, tells Condé Nast’s Joe Sabia that some of the best advice she’s received is “never trust nobody,” and explains how she tricks the universe into giving her what she wants.
“I get in the mirror and go, ’Baby daddy, baby daddy, baby daddy, baby daddy, baby daddy, baby daddy, child support, child support, child support, child support, child support.′ Basically, I say all the things I don’t want really fast to trick the universe into giving me what I do want,” she says.

Florida Cop Claims Police Chief Had Him Frame Two Innocent Black Men
A former Florida cop has admitted to framing two innocent black men under the direction of his boss, the chief of police.
Guillermo Ravelo, Former Biscayne Park police officer, made this admission on Thursday in federal court as part of a plea deal, according to The Miami Herald. Ravelo said he arrested one man for two home burglaries and another for five car break-ins. Charges against both men were eventually dropped.
Ravelo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the men’s rights.
He also confessed to punching a handcuffed man in the face during a traffic stop, entering a guilty plea for excessive force.
The prosecution intends to recommend a lenient sentence of at least 24 months for Ravelo as part of a plea deal, reports Law & Crime. Each charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison. The judge could choose to ignore the prosecution’s recommendation and order Ravelo to serve the terms consecutively.
Ravelo was fired from the force in March following the assault allegations from the traffic stop.
Ravelo’s admission has widened an ongoing corruption investigation of the Biscayne Park police department.

Marvel’s new Infinity Wars arc kicks off with a major Thanos twist
A new hunt for the Infinity Stones upends expectations
Marvel’s latest cosmic epic is coming to a head with this week’s Infinity Wars Prime #1. The stage is set, the Infinity Stones are in play, Thanos controls an army of Chitauri warriors and the mysterious Requiem is on a mysterious quest for mysterious vengeance.
At last week’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel teased that writer Gerry Duggan’s Infinity Wars Prime #1 would change the face of the Marvel Universe in a way no-one was ready for. The company was telling the truth.
[Warning: The rest of this article is going to feature heavy spoilers for Infinity Wars Prime #1]
With the first issue out, the fate of Thanos, one of the most recognizable Marvel characters, is sealed, clearing the deck for a new war for the Infinity Stones which will stretch through every corner of the Marvel Universe. Here’s what happened.
THE END IS A BEGINNING
When you think of the Infinity Stones, you think Thanos. Even before the Avengers: Infinity War film came out, the big, purple combatant had been associated with a quest for the gems’ power, being the first to assemble them back in Jim Starlin, George Perez and Ron Lim’s Infinity Gauntlet.
So with the return of the Infinity Stones, it’s only natural for Thanos to become involved in the quest to unite them again. He’s placed himself as the leader of the Chitauri — the bad guys from 2012’s The Avengers — in order to track them down. Unfortunately, in Infinity Wars Prime #1, Thanos finds himself at the receiving end of Requiem’s cosmic sword. The mysterious new character slices up the Mad Titan, sending him into the embrace of his one true love, Mistress Death.
It takes a few blows to take Thanos down, and we won’t spoil the most satisfying panels, but here’s one uncomfortable strike.
This isn’t by any means Thanos’ first comic book death — and it’s unlikely to be his last. He was first “killed” in 1977’s Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2 when he was turned to stone by Adam Warlock. He stayed that way for 13 years until he was revived by Mistress Death to correct the population imbalance in the universe through any means necessary.
He was killed again, decades later, when Drax finally avenged his dead family by driving his fist through the Mad Titan’s chest, ripping out his heart. Since then, Thanos has even died a couple more times; he was abandoned in the Cancerverseand later killed by an all-powerful Doctor Doom on Battleworld. Each time, Thanos found a way back from the brink of death.
Another clue to Thanos’ eventual Infinity Wars fate may lie in Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw’s recent “Thanos Wins” storyline, which sent the character to the far future to meet an older version of himself. The elder Thanos brought his younger self forward to die at his hand so he could finally be with Mistress Death, but the younger Thanos refused and returned to the present. As the future of King Thanos began to fade away, Back to the Future-style, the elder Titan asked Death what his younger self did to change things, to which she replied “he won.” If that still holds true — and it was only a established a couple of months ago — it’s likely we haven’t seen the end of Thanos in Infinity Wars.
WHO IS REQUIEM?
Now that Thanos is dead, at least for now, the question becomes “who killed him?”
In Infinity Wars’ prequel series, Infinity Countdown, we saw Requiem force one of the trolls responsible for forging Asgardian weapons to create a new set of armor and a cosmically powered sword. But even with the new sword and armor that covers their face, Thanos seems to recognize Requiem before they slice off his head in one swift motion.
There are a couple of candidates for who Requiem could be, but our number one suspect is Nebula, the character played by Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
In the movies, Nebula is Thanos’ daughter and sister to Gamora. In the comics she’s Thanos’ granddaughter — or at least she alleges to be. Created by Roger Stern and John Buscema, she debuted in 1985’s Avengers #257 as a space pirate, captain of the starship Sanctuary II, once Thanos’ own ship. She once wielded the Infinity Gauntlet after Thanos ascended into a cosmic state of being, but aside from that she’s never quite played a heavy-hitter role in the Marvel Universe. She has the potential — and, thanks to the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, she has the notoriety.
On top of all that, the upcoming Asgardians of the Galaxy title spinning off out of Infinity Wars mentions a mission to stop Nebula from taking over the galaxy. Could Marvel have teased the big reveal in the promotion for the upcoming book?
If Requiem isn’t Nebula, there are still a few more candidates. Gamora has been on the side of the heroes for the past decade or so, but her alignment isn’t so black and white, and she can be quite driven when she wants something. In this case, that something is the Soul Stone, which still contains a portion of her own soul. She has already split from the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to find the corrupted Stone.
Starting off with the death of Thanos shows that Infinity Wars isn’t messing around, but we can expect more big deaths than just the Mad Titan. Marvel’s official reading list for the crossover event lists Fallen Guardian #1 for a December release. We don’t know much else about the issue except its title, but that alone suggests that one of the Guardians of the Galaxy is going to meet the same fate as Thanos. Our money’s on Drax, considering how much care and attention Gerry Duggan has put into the Destroyer’s character over the past year, but it really could be anyone and given how easily Requiem took out The Mad Titan, no one is safe from her blade.
