A Houston-based hairdresser who has used Gorilla Glue on hair for years says there’s only one way to safely apply it
Article via YahooNews
Houston-based hairdresser Eric Vaughn says he’s been using Gorilla Glue for years and in a now-viral TikTok video, he explains the safe way to use it.
“The only time you should use it is at the end of a sew-in,” Vaughn says in the video, referring to hair extensions.
Vaughn’s video comes after a 40-year-old Louisana woman, Tessica Brown, went viral last week for putting Gorilla Glue in her hair after running out of hairspray, TMZ reported.
Brown, 40, posted a video in early February on her Instagram telling people her hair had been stuck in the same position for a month.
“Y’all, my hair…it don’t move at all,” Brown told viewers, explaining that she ran out of her usual hair spray and opted for a Gorilla Glue adhesive spray. Even after 15 washes and a trip to the emergency room, Brown’s hair was still stuck.
Amid Brown’s viral video, Vaughn posted his own video on Wednesday showing viewers how he uses the product on clients.
“I’ll take my threads and knot them together, take a tiny little dot of Gorilla Glue, blow-dry and cut that and that knot is going nowhere,” Vaughn says.
“But don’t put this on your actual hair,” Vaughn warned in the video.
“I wanted to show that in a professional setting Gorilla Glue is appropriately used on hair extensions. In the hands of a professional can be used appropriately to ensure that no knot comes unraveled,” Vaughn told Insider.
“It honestly came about as I was doing an extension service in the salon and went to pick up my gorilla glue to glue my knot and immediately thought oh wait this will be the perfect moment to educate on using this tool correctly,” he added
Gorilla Glue in a statement said, “We are very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Miss Brown experienced using our spray adhesive on her hair. This is a unique situation because this product is not indicated for use in or on hair as it is considered permanent.”
On February 12, Brown underwent a successful removal procedure with the help of Beverly Hill-based plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng. She was also able to retain some of her hair through the procedure and can be seen running her fingers through it and feeling her scalp in a video obtained exclusively by TMZ.
NYPD arrests suspect in connection with four subway stabbings that left 2 dead
Article via CNN
The New York City Police Department arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the four subway stabbings that left two people dead over the weekend, the NYPD’s Transit Bureau tweeted Sunday.
The suspect has been charged with murder and attempted murder, the Transit Bureau said. CNN is not naming the person publicly identified by the NYPD at this time, and is attempting to identify their attorney.”This investigation continues, and we thank everyone for the help they provided in this case,” said the Transit Bureau, which is responsible for the safety and security of New York City’s subway passengers.
NYPD deployed 500 troops on subway system
The arrest follows NYPDs deployment of an additional 500 officers to patrol the city’s subway system after four stabbings in less than 24 hours.Victims in the four separate incidents were “cut with a sharp object,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a news conference Saturday afternoon.”The bottom line that the public should know is this: They can expect to see a very large footprint of uniformed officers deployed throughout New York City whether they go onto a train or whether they go onto a platform,” Shea said.
Shea said the four attacks occurred on the A line, a subway line that runs between northern Manhattan and Queens.Besides the two deaths, two other victims are recovering from their injuries. All four victims were homeless and the attacks appear to be unprovoked, said Deputy Chief Brian McGee, the commanding officer of the Manhattan North detective bureau. The attacks began on Friday morning when a 67-year old man was stabbed by an unknown man inside the 181 Street station in upper Manhattan and later treated at a nearby hospital, NYPD Chief of Transit Kathleen O’Reilly told reporters. An adult male was found dead with “stab wounds to his neck and torso” on the A-train at the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue train station in Queens on Friday around 11:30 p.m., O’Reilly said.
Approximately two hours later on Saturday, an unconscious 44-year-old woman was found inside a train car at the Inwood 207 Street station in upper Manhattan with “multiple stab wounds,” according to O’Reilly. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, O’Reilly said.Less than 20 minutes after that incident, police officers responded to calls about a 43-year-old man who was stabbed at the 181 Street station. He told officers he was stabbed by an unknown man and was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery, according to McGee.”Three of these incidents appear to be connected and the Detective Bureau is looking into the possibility that all four could have been committed by one individual,” O’Reilly said.

All About Earth’s New Minimoon
For only the second time in history, astronomers have discovered a new, natural-origin, minimoon orbiting the Earth. The minimoon, known as 2020CD3 (CD3 for short), was first discovered by Kacper Werizchos and Teddy Pruyne using data from the Catalina Sky Survey. Once CD3’s orbit was determined to be geo-centric, Queens University Belfast Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Dr. Grigori Fedorets assembled a team of 23 astronomers worldwide to make careful observations of the object to determine its identity. Based on the team’s findings, a paper was published on November 24, 2020, in the Astronomical Journal, characterizing the minimoon.
One of the main reasons for the careful nature of the identification process is the fact that we’ve been fooled before! Spent upper stage rocket boosters from lunar missions have been mistaken for asteroids in the past. Both Apollo 12 and the Chinese Chang’e 2 missions left upper stages in space that briefly passed for minimoons. Another hilarious case of mistaking a human-made object for an asteroid is the legendary ESA Rosetta spacecraft observed by the Catalina Sky Survey in 2007 during a flyby of the Earth was briefly given the provisional asteroid designation of 2007 VN84. There’s something intensely entertaining about a spacecraft that was bound to visit a comet being mistaken for an asteroid.
What is CD3 like, and how can we be sure it isn’t human-related space debris? Like all solar system objects, the minimoon experiences a slight pressure from the solar wind and solar radiation. This effect is directly proportional to the surface area of the object in question. By measuring the size of an object and observing the deviation in its orbit from that predicted solely from the influence of gravity, we can gain useful insight into our target.
When asked about it, the lead author of the Astronomical Journal paper, Grigori Fedorets, commented, “We compare the surface area to the mass. For rocket boosters, which are hollow, the surface to mass ratio is much higher”. Another way to look at it is that the sun has less influence on the orbit of CD3 than we would expect for anything human-made, leading us to determine that the object is solid. It is now thought that the object is made of some kind of silicate. Essentially, as one might expect, it’s a space-rock.

Kim Kardashian West visits Julius Jones on Death Row in Oklahoma
Article via OKCFOX
Global celebrity and activist Kim Kardashian West traveled to Oklahoma to visit with Julius Jones, a man on death row being held in Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.
Jones was convicted in 1999 of shooting a businessman in Edmond but has maintained that he is innocent and was never even at the scene of the crime.
Kardashian West became involved in the Oklahoma-based “Justice for Julius” campaign after seeing the three-hour ABC documentary, “The Last Defense.”
Over six million people have signed a Change.org petition asking the Pardon and Parole Board and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt to commute Jones’ sentence.
In June, Attorney General Mike Hunter acknowledged the board had the authority to do so.
Kardashian West met with Julius on death row, accompanied by Julius’ attorney, Dale Baich.
She also met in Oklahoma City with Julius’ family that included his mother, father, sister, and brother.
Justice for Julius coalition leader Cece Jones-Davis said all Julius wants is a chance to tell his side of the story and present the evidence that should have been presented at trial.
“Here is a man with an alibi, who did not match the eye-witness description of the shooter, and who was convicted by the testimony of incredibly unreliable witnesses motivated by secret plea deals,” said Jones-Davis. “It has been more than one-year since Julius submitted his commutation application and we want the Pardon and Parole Board to grant Julius a hearing that will be full and fair and will also allow the board to consider the new evidence. Anything less would be a tremendous miscarriage of justice.”

Netflix Removes ‘Chappelle’s Show’ Upon Request From Dave Chappelle Who Blasts ViacomCBS For Licensing His Show Without Paying Him
Article via Deadline
Dave Chappelle had made it clear that he did not approve of ViacomCBS licensing his Comedy Central series, Chappelle’s Show, without paying him a dime. The comedian spoke about it during his recent Saturday Night Live monologue, and now he has done something about it.
In a video, titled Unforgiven, which was posted on Instagram this morning, Chappelle says that he had asked Netflix, where he has a deal for standup specials, to take Chappelle’s Show, which the streamer had licensed on a non-exclusive basis, off the service.
Netflix has honored Chappelle’s request, and removed the show overnight last night, a rep for the streamer confirmed to Deadline. The show began streaming on Netflix in the U.S. on Nov. 1. Chappelle’s Show, owned by ViacomCBS, is still available on the company’s Comedy Central and CBS All Access outlets and was also recently licensed by HBO Max. Companies that license a program pay the seller who, in tern, has to compensate the creatives on the show.
“People think I made a lot of money from Chappelle’s Show,” Chappelle says in the video, filmed during a recent standup set, in which he reminisces about his comedy career. “When I left that show I never got paid. They (ViacomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract. But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal ‘cause I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either. That’s why I like working for Netflix. I like working for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist. And when I found out they were streaming Chappelle’s Show, I was furious. How could they not– how could they not know? So you know what I did? I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better. That’s why I f*ck with Netflix. Because they paid me my money, they do what they say they’re going to do, and they went above and beyond what you could expect from a businessman. They did something just because they thought that I might think that they were wrong. And I do — I think that if you are f*cking streaming that show you’re fencing stolen goods.”
Chappelle repeated his appeal to fans, which he also made on SNL earlier this month. “So I’m not going to the agents, I’m coming to my real boss — I’m coming to you. I’m begging you — if you ever liked me, if you ever think there was anything worthwhile about me, I’m begging you, please don’t watch that show. I’m not asking you to boycott any network — boycott me. Boycott Chappelle’s Show. Do not watch it unless they pay me.”
Chappelle was the co-creator, executive producer and star of Chappelle’s Show, which had an abbreviated but very successful run on Comedy Central from 2003-2006.
Netflix has been Chappelle’s home for four years with a deal for standup specials.
