DZA (L) Pete Rock (R)

Now have I got a REAL HIP HOP album for you! I found out about this  scrolling through my FB feed. We got Pete Rock and Smoke  DZA collaboration AKA Callabo I always have liked Pete Rocks swagger  and his smooth hip hop flow and his funky sexy beats. Then there’s  DZA with his  hardcore with da quickness flow in your face bars. What’s the name of the album? The album is called Don’t Smoke Rock each slamming song takes you on a journey through their hood of New York. Fo’ real this album makes you feel you’re standing front and center Harlem or the Bronx every song has depth the lyrics are crisp, clean and balanced. Born Pete Rock  from da Bronx has been around spittin’ bars and producing beats  with Marley Marl, as a DJ on New York’s WBLS radio show “In Control With Marley Marl.” The 17-year-old Phillips was recognized by the listening audience as the man “puttin’ in work”, as he would use double copies of each record to cut up every song he played, when most New York DJs would only use double copies on every third or fourth song. Propelled by the growth of his popularity, he began producing in the early 1990s. In 1991 he joined with CL Smooth to release the EP All Souled Out. Since 1987.

Next we got DZA AKA SMOKE DZA Harlem was born February 8, 1984 at Harlem Hospital in New York City and has lived in New York all his life. The son of two Guyanese immigrants, Smoke was exposed to music at home by his father and fell in love with hip hop at a young age. He grew up listening to and emulating fellow New Yorkers Jay-Z and Notorious BIG. After dropping out of high school to pursue his music career, DZA began battle rapping and has battled fellow Harlem-based rapper J.R. Writer.

Smoke DZA decided on his moniker after being influenced by Chris Tucker’s character Smokey from the movie Friday and the acronym DZA stands for “Dream Zone Achieve”.  He was discovered by Jonny Shipes of Cinematic Music Group in 2002 and went on to ghostwrite for numerous rappers, including Hi-Tek.  In 2002, he partnered to become one half of the group Smoke & Numbers, until going solo. DZA was highly influenced by Jay Z and Biggie Smalls. With 5 albums and mixtapes under his belt he gonna be spittin’ much more bars in the near future.

Pete Rock is plaining a reunite with C.L Smooth for the  return of the all souled out tour and make some dope rhymes again after 22 years CAN’T WAIT!!!

Now #pressplay and let Pete Rock and DZA take you through their neck of their  hoods!
